Joseph P. Illidge is a name that rings bells in my circle of comics fandom. Over 31 years, he has helped usher in stories featuring many of my favorite characters of all time. Static. Hardware. Nightwing. He paired Greg Rucka with Shawn Martinbrough for one of the most acclaimed Detective Comics runs, and even oversaw the No Man's Land event in the Batman office. What else would you expect from someone who learned under the direct tutelage of the late Dwayne McDuffie? Today, Joe joins the show to talk about his career, the importance of supporting Independent Black Comics, and his involvement in the crowdfunded project Epiphany Engine, arguably the biggest Black Comics crossover of all time. About Joseph P. Illidge:Joseph started his editorial career at Milestone Media, Inc., the influential comic book publisher profiled in the MAX documentary “Milestone Generations”His groundbreaking editorial runs on the Batman line of comic books for DC Comics and Lion Forge's “Catalyst Prime” superhero imprint featured in The Hollywood Reporter  reflect Joseph's expertise in curating inclusive hero fiction.Profiled as one of the “Best Editors” in comics, Joseph was featured in the History Channel documentary series, “Superheroes Decoded”, discussing popular heroes from Superman to The Black Panther.Joseph is a member of the Board of Directors for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and the recipient of a Citation from the New York State Assembly for exemplary community service through career achievement. About Epiphany Engine:EPIPHANY ENGINE is a 192-page, original graphic novel composed by some of the best, most talented African American Creators in the Comic Book Industry. Dubbed "The Dream Team", these creators represent Black Excellence in every aspect of the game.  Basically, this is a vision powered by creative excellence. The story centers around the McKali family, a family of brilliant scientists, whose latest experiments to better mankind by unlocking the secrets of the universe are met with horrifying results. As an experiment brings forth a mysterious being, a cosmic-level threat named Abzylom, who wants to collapse this reality and mold a new universe while destroying the family in the process. While trying to stop Abzylom, tragedy strikes the family and they are separated from one another and scattered across the multiverse. Unfortunately, they must also deal with the consequences that their failed experiment has gone astray, accidentally disrupting the fabric of the multiverse and placing creation itself at risk.  The family must save not only themselves but existence as we know it as well.  Consequently, the rupture has brought great beings of power to action. With the odds stacked against them, the brave McKali family has to not only escape from the clutches of their cosmic foe but also build an army of heroes from across the multiverse to defeat Abzylom, as well as find each other and heal from their family's loss. This is only the beginning of the thrilling adventure that awaits you in the pages of the EPIPHANY ENGINE Graphic Novel! The Iron Age of Comics

Milestone Media's Icon has a pretty punchy elevator pitch: “What if Superman was a Black Republican?” But with stories by Dwayne McDuffie and pencils by M.D. “Doc” Bright (both now sadly no longer with us), this book goes to some interesting and unexpected places. For one thing, this Supermanalogue has a sidekick: a teenage girl named Rocket who is arguably the real protagonist of the book and whose struggles and issues are the most complex and heartfelt that the book explores. We discuss how McDuffie and Bright tackle teen pregnancy in an honest and conscientious way through Rocket and examine racial identity and privilege through the title character, acknowledging there are no easy answers for any of the questions being raised.

If today's episode feels like a private chat among friends, that's no accident. I became acquainted with Nikolas Draper-Ivey shortly after he was announced as the series artist for Static: Season One -- the title that kicked off the Milestone Returns line at DC Comics. We've been building a solid rapport ever since, but I could never get him to sit for an interview -- until now.In this conversation, I ask Nik about his journey so far. He explains his origins as an artist, how he got the attention of Milestone Media's Reginald Hudlin & Denys Cowan, and what it's meant to be trusted with a beloved character like Static for a new generation of readers. Static: Shadows of Dakota is now available in hardcover from DC Comics/Milestone Media, and you can purchase it here. About Nikolas Draper-Ivey:Nikolas Draper-Ivey is an American illustrator based outside of New York City. Born in Lansing, Michigan in 1991. He grew up in Detroit, where his father first exposed him to Japanese animation with Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira. In his adolescence he discovered Shonen Jump Magazine.  This inspired him to pursue a career as a professional illustrator.  In 2010 he began his first semester at Savannah College Of Art & Design (SCAD) in Georgia as a Sequential Art major with a minor in Illustration. His style plays heavily on use of light and shadow and combines afro-futurist elements with hints of fantasy, hip-hop and punk culture and his love cinematography. His two biggest influences are Roger Deakins (Director of cinematography for Blade Runner 2049) and Takeshi Obata, (artist for Hikaru No Go, Death Note, BAKUMAN Platinum End).  In 2014, after moving to New York City, he had the chance to meet with his idols, Editor Koji Yoshida and mangaka Takeshi Obata who praised his early works as a “successful fusion of his Eastern and Western influences”.Currently, Draper-Ivey is working on his original work Dream Vesper, he firmly believes that his unique Afro-Asian futuristic art style can change the world For More from Comics Are Dope:Get This Week in Comics, our weekly e-mail newsletter: http://thisweekincomics.comSubscribe on YouTube: http://youtube.com/@comicsaredopeJoin our online Discussion Communities:Facebook - http://bjkicks.link/communityDiscord - http://bjkicks.link/discord

Thirty years ago, Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Derek Dingle, and Michael Davis founded Milestone Media to try to encourage diversity both on the comics page and in the talent pool. Static (minus the “Shock” at this point) was deliberately conceived of as a youthful Spider-Man figure for a new generation and went on to become the publisher's most enduring character. We discuss the series' balance of social issues and good-old-fashioned superheroics, the way it deliberately avoids easy answers and simplistic characterizations, and how Milestone stacks up against the other “startup” universes of the 1990s.

Dingle, Milestone Media changed the game and delivered iconic characters like Static, Hardware, Blood Syndicate, Rocket, and, yeah, Icon. If you want to understand the context surrounding Milestone's creation and its profound impact on the industry, you need to check out the documentary Milestone Generations, currently streaming on HBO Max. Our guest this week, Evan Narcisse, worked extensively on the film. He's also been cranking out rad comics like Wildstorm vs. Waller and the short story "Universal Beings," which appeared in DC Comics' recent Milestone 30th Anniversary Special. "Universal Beings" is a magnificent tale, a catastrophic tiny epic that smashes the original Milestone Universe from 1993, with the updated version dominating comic shops today. Inspired by the classic multiversal comic "Flash of Two Worlds," Narcisse's story allows him to confront contemporary notions of progress while supplying a kickass superhero adventure. What would 1993's Static think of 2023's Static, and vice versa? The conversation is thematically charged like all good Milestone books. Narcisse also takes a moment to celebrate the genius of Dwayne McDuffie and all the eclectic voices that pulled Milestone out of nothingness and gifted the world the Dakotaverse, an unparalleled comics arena. In addition to relaunching these classic characters, DC Comics recently published two massive compendiums collecting the nineties Milestone stories. They are worth your attention. Also, be sure to follow Evan Narcisse on Twitter. Before Evan Narcisse joins the show, Lisa suffers through Brad's long-winded review of his 2023 WonderCon experience. You're paying attention if you can sense a little jealousy in that last sentence. Or is that envy? You'll have to listen to next week's podcast to answer that last question. Just know this, Brad had an amazing time in Anaheim, filled with all manner of creator interactions, panels, and comics purchasing. The WonderCon Review ends at the 21:56 minute mark. These are my favorite movies and TV show from June-December 2022.   June Insidious 1 & 2 (Amazon & Netflix) I'd never seen the Insidious movies. However, my younger brother watched them and told me they were creepy(which piqued my interest). In June, the first part was available on Prime Video, and the sequel and third films were on Netflix. I binged all three, but I preferred the first two as they wrapped up the Lambert family storyline.    Black Phone (movies) The next Blumhouse movie on this list. The movie pundits I follow talked about this Black Phone's great word of mouth from early screenings. Saw this in theaters and was amazed at Ethan Hawke's villainous performance. His 2nd turn as a bad guy in 2022(first in Moon Knight on Disney+ months earlier, but much better here).   Umbrella Academy S3 (Netflix) I like the Umbrella Academy and its different take on the superhero genre. The protagonist dysfunctional family consists of odd but likable characters, all with their own agendas, coming together to save the world from destruction. I've rewatched the footloose scene at the beginning of this season multiple times on Tik Tok.   July Gray Man (Netflix) An action-packed thriller which is also one of the most expensive movies Netflix has produced. Gray Man is a bombastic summer-style movie usually reserved for theaters which I, like everyone else, enjoyed at home. At least tune in for Chris Evan's fantastic mustache.   Paper Girls (Amazon) I read the first volume of this comic years ago and loved it. So when this adaptation showed up on Prime Video, I had to watch it. It wasn't perfect and downright ridiculous at times, but a fun sci-fi ride. Too bad Paper Girls was canceled after one season. I still want to read the entire comic run.   Old Man S1 (Hulu) Senior citizen Jeff Bridges is a war criminal/John Wick-type soldier in hiding. When he's discovered and goes on the run, Dan Chase(Jeff Bridges)is not a man you want to cross paths with. John Lithgow is also in this series; his scenes are incredible. Unfortunately, halfway through the filming of season one, the pandemic happened, and Jeff Bridges had (real-life)health issues. The show was initially supposed to be ten episodes but shortened to seven. However, the finale was satisfying. Hopefully, Mr. Bridges will regain his health, and we can get a 2nd season of this excellent show.   The Boys S3 (Amazon) The Boys is the show I recommend to anyone who wants to watch the current, best TV program in the superhero genre. Placing in Nielsen's top 15 original streaming programs of 2022, this Prime Video exclusive was seen more than any Marvel or DC TV show. Anthony Starr's performance as Homelander and how his story continues to unfold is tremendous-highly recommended.   Stranger Things 4 pt 2 (Netflix) Stranger Things 4 was the summer event for me. Another show I ate up and relished.      August Light & Magic documentary (Disney+) In August, I watched two documentaries discussing content from my youth. First, Light & Magic spoke about the formation of the ILM studio and its creation of beloved film series such as Star Wars and Jurassic Park. In addition, it delves into stop-motion photography which motivates me to make my own action-figure stories which I'm currently doing.   Milestone Media documentary (HBO) Milestone Generations was the second documentary. The peak of my comic fandom(and for many) was the early 90s. This film chronicled a collection of black creators establishing their own company and publishing comics with their homegrown black superheroes. I never bought Milestone comics, but watching this doc and discovering the modern inner-city stories told, is up my alley. Fascinating documentary.   Sandman S1 (Netflix) I halfway read the first volume of Vertigo's critically acclaimed Sandman comic run during the early 2000s, but it didn't connect with me. Fast forward to July 2022, the TV series was announced to premiere on Netflix in August. When the show debuted, I listened to comic book aficionado Robert Meyer Burnett's quick review on John Campea's podcast, and he loved it. He said some shots were identical from the comic book panels to the TV screen, which made me curious. My favorite scene is the battle between Dream(the Sandman)and Lucifer.   Thirteen Lives (Amazon) A dramatization of the true story of 13 people who got stuck in a cave in Thailand and the rescue mission which followed. When this movie came on Prime video, two documentaries on Netflix and Disney+ premiered discussing the same event. Thirteen Lives was riveting, and I was surprised this wasn't in theaters.      September Cobra Kai S5 (Netflix) Cobra Kai is fun, and I will continue to watch as long as the same creative team and cast stay in place. This past season, Terry Silver and his Cobra Kai students were great villains with shades of gray. The upcoming season six was announced and said to be the last. All good things must end, and that doesn't disappoint me when you go out on top, which hopefully Cobra Kai will.   Prey (Hulu) A Predator story done right. Prey shows how one can take an established sci-fi horror franchise and make it simple yet effective. A similar formula might work for another iconic movie villain-the Terminator.    Kisstory (Hulu) One of my earliest childhood memories is from Kiss' Phantom of the Park movie, where the band stands next to a wooden roller coaster. I've never been a big Kiss fan but watching them on season 8 of American Idol(2009), Adam Lambert performing alongside the rock legends in the finale, brought back old memories. Kisstory is a 'Behind The Music' type documentary narrated by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. A story that educated me on the group's formation, the tours, and the numerous hits they've had over the years. An engrossing four-hour doc which I only put down in-between parts because I had to go to bed.   Elvis (HBO Max) I saw this in theaters in March but was tired and fell asleep various times. However, after rewatching Elvis at home, it quickly became one of my favorite films of 2022. The combination of Austin Butler's performance and Baz Luhrmann's direction was an experience I'll rewatch years later. I regularly listen to Austin Butler's rendition of the 'Vegas Rehearsal/That's All Right' song from the soundtrack.   Everything Everywhere All at Once (PPV) I'd heard movie critics rave about this movie around the beginning of the year. By September, the film still had yet to come to a streaming service, so I bought it on pay-per-view. Adventure, sci-fi, comedy, drama. I found myself cheering and crying at different points while watching this movie. Another favorite from 2022.   Barbarian (movies) I watched this and 'Smile' a few weeks apart. Barbarian is the superior of the two. One of the several small budgets horror films released in 2022 which scored big profits. Highly enjoyable. Even though Barbarian was a better movie than 'Smile,' the latter gave me trouble sleeping.   October  Werewolf by Night (Disney+) This was a surprise, and I'd like to see the MCU do more. A 'special presentation' introducing a group of characters or revisiting established ones like the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.' The Werewolf by Night himself gave me Wolverine vibes.      House of the Dragon (HBO Max) I'm late to the party regarding Game of Thrones—digging into the whole HBO series, like many others during the pandemic. House of the Dragon fills the Targaeryan backstory and doesn't disappoint. I also enjoyed the focus on fewer characters and seeing them grow over time.   Green Lantern: Beware My Power (HBO Max) I found this while browsing the DC section on HBO Max. DC, hands down, has excellent animated movies with adult overtones. A space adventure that delves deeper into Green Lantern John Stewart and Adam Strange, whom I haven't heard about in a while.     November See S3 (Apple TV+) To me, Jason Momoa's best work is his DCEU Aquaman appearances, and See on Apple TV+. I loved the first two seasons; this 3rd and final chapter was excellent. Watching this post-apocalyptic world where most of the population is blind and living within tribes in the wilderness was intriguing. I recommend See if you're looking for a great, complete sci-fi/action show.   Spirited (Apple TV+) It was November, the holidays were around the corner, and there was a giant billboard for Spirited, displaying Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, near the Port Authority bus terminal in Times Square. I thought, these two actors have made me laugh plenty before, so let's check this out. This Apple TV+ exclusive was delightful and had a different spin on the Scrooge story. A heartwarming musical, which I didn't mind.   Andor S1 (Disney+) Andor beats any live-action Star Wars TV currently on Disney+. It started slow, but the intrigue and story build as we see the forming of the Rebellion against the Empire. The prison episodes with Andy Serkis were tremendous.   The English (Amazon) Another great Amazon Prime Video show that no one seems to talk about. A stoic and violent western starring Emily Blunt. The English put its hooks into me from the first episode. Rafe Spall is also a great villain who you love to hate. Excellent and gorgeous-looking show.   December Pistol (Hulu) I'm entertained by these Hulu dramas based on actual events. Dopesick with Micheal Keaton was sad yet amazing. The Dropout with Amanda Seyfried was eye-opening. Tommy & Pamela was amusing. Finally, Pistol, based on the beginnings of the Sex Pistols band and the punk scene in the UK, was interesting, informative, and plays to making your dreams come true even if you don't know how to play the guitar.   White Lotus S2 (HBO Max) I watched the first season based on movie critic Grace Randolph's recommendation and found it awkward, funny, and intelligent with a murder mystery thrown in. As soon as the first episode ended for season 2, I was there every following Sunday to gobble up the next installment. The White Lotus season 2 has a dark comedic charm, and I love the soundtrack by Cristobal Tapia de Veer with all the weird chanting.   Avatar: Way of Water (movies) As I mentioned, Stranger Things season 4 was an event for me. Avatar 2 was as well. It was long-winded at parts, especially the sections dealing with the whales, but great drama, action, and peak science fiction. Being transported to Pandora again didn't disappoint.     Finally, favorites of 2022 Overall(the media below did not have to be released in 2022 to be included).   Games (I had a blast playing these games and completed them)- Halo Infinite (2021) (Xbox-Game Pass) Wolfenstein: The New Order (2014) (Xbox-Game Pass) The Gunk (2021) (Xbox-Game Pass)   Comics The Woods(the entire series) (published 2014-2017) (Boom! Studios) Wolverine: Enemy of the State (published 2005) (Marvel)   TV Yellowstone S1-S4 (Peacock) Reacher S1 (Prime Video) Peacemaker S1 (HBO Max) The White Lotus S1 & S2 (HBO Max) As We See It S1 (Prime Video) See S3 (final season) (Apple TV+) Ozark (final season) (Netflix) Strangers Things 4 parts 1 & 2 (Netflix) House of the Dragon S1 (HBO Max) The Boys S3 (Prime Video) The Last Kingdom S5 (Netflix)     Movies Elvis  Everything Everywhere All At Once Top Gun Maverick   Streaming Movies Thirteen Lives (Prime Video) Gray Man (Netflix)   Animated Movies: Turning Red (Disney+) Green Lantern: Beware My Power (HBO Max) Legend of Vox Machina (Prime Video)   Documentaries: Light & Magic (Disney+) Kisstory (Hulu)   Thoughts? James H. Williams III usually credited as J. H. Williams III, is an American comics artist and penciller. He is known for his work on titles such as Chase, Promethea, Desolation Jones, Batwoman, and The Sandman: Overture.Williams' early work includes penciling the four-issue miniseries, Deathwish (1994–1995) from Milestone Media. Deathwish was written by Maddie Blaustein and inked by Jimmy Palmiotti. He was one of the artists on the Shade limited series which spun off from the Starman series. Williams gained prominence as the artist on the short-lived (ten issues, 1997–1998) Chase title from DC Comics, where he worked with writer Dan Curtis Johnson. The character had been introduced earlier in Batman 550 (Jan. 1998).Williams collaborated with inker Mick Gray on two DC Elseworlds graphic novels, Justice Riders, written by Chuck Dixon, and Son of Superman, written by Howard Chaykin and David Tischman. Williams' next major work was for WildStorm's America's Best Comics with writer Alan Moore on Promethea (32 issues, 1999–2005). In mid–2005 Williams and writer Warren Ellis launched the Desolation Jones series, and Williams illustrated the two "bookend" issues of Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers project. In 2007 he worked with Morrison on another project, a three-part story in Batman 667–669. Williams drew Jonah Hex 35 and has stated an interest in doing more, saying "I certainly want to do more issues myself or even a graphic novel if the opportunity and schedule presented itself." Williams became the regular artist on Detective Comics with writer Greg Rucka in June 2009, with the title focusing on Rucka's Batwoman character due to the absence of Batman in the aftermath of "Batman R.I.P." and Final Crisis. Williams returned as artist and co-writer of the new Batwoman series, accompanied by co-author W. Haden Blackman. Batwoman received a GLAAD Media Award in the category of "Outstanding Comic Book" at the 23rd GLAAD Media Awards in June 2012.In July 2012, DC announced that Williams would be the artist for Neil Gaiman's Sandman prequel series, The Sandman: Overture, to be released October 30, 2013. That same month, as part of the San Diego Comic-Con, Williams was one of six artists who, along with DC co-publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio, participated in the production of "Heroic Proportions", an episode of the Syfy reality television competition series Face Off, in which special effects were tasked to create a new superhero, with Williams and the other DC artists on hand to help them develop their ideas. The winning entry's character, Infernal Core by Anthony Kosar, was featured in Justice League Dark 16 (March 2013), which was published January 30, 2013.The episode premiered on January 22, 2013, as the second episode of the fourth season. Both Williams and Blackman resigned from the Batwoman title in September 2013 due to differences with DC's editorial decisions. In September 2020, DC Comics announced that Williams would be among the creators of a revived Batman: Black and White anthology series to debut on December 8, 2020. He also provided the variant cover.A HUGE Thank You To All My Patreon, Members, & Subscribe Stars! At long last, the most famous face of the Milestone Universe is making his shocking return! Bullied nerd Virgil Hawkins wasn't the kind of kid you'd normally find on the streets at a protest– but like everyone else in the city of Dakota, he was fed up. Unfortunately, the first time he stood up to raise his voice, the world turned upside down. The experimental tear gas released that day left some of his classmates maimed or dead…but it left Virgil, and others, with stunning new abilities. Virgil has power inside him now — real power, the ability to channel and manipulate electromagnetic fields. But there's anger burning inside him, too. What is he supposed to do about all of this? Dwayne McDuffie was a legend. Not only because of what he did in comics, but what he did FOR comics. His desire to better the medium by diversifying the stories that were being told and the characters within them. The recent DC Fandome event featured the world premiere of many exciting DC Comics related properties including teasers for The Batman, The Snyder Cut, and The Suicide Squad. However, for me the most exciting announcement was for the return of comic books based around the world and characters from Milestone Media. We talk about the excitement and concerns that we have for the resurrection of Milestone Media and we look at our fragrance of the week: Reflection Man by Amouage. Milestone Media was a comic company created a rich and diverse world that resonated with the time it was created in, but utilized stories and themes which still reflect many of the conflicts that we are still facing in our society today. We talk about the love that we have from this company from its creators to the characters. We also dive back into the House of Maison de Darius with Fiore as the fragrance of the week. Sean answers your Marvel questions!00:36 Alex WardIt has been occurring to me recently that this past year or so is one of those rare time in pop culture where we're in between a major cliffhanger (the snap) and its resolution (Endgame). The only comparable time I can think of is 1980-1983, when Luke found out Vader was his father but Return of the Jedi hadn't come out yet. Do you ever lament the fact that this time will soon be over, knowing that these periods of not-knowing are so few and far between in fandom? What do you think is the best way to savor this time?6:06 Alex WardDo you think the recent additional accusations against Bryan Singer are even more reason to put Dark Phoenix to bed early and leave the Fox X-Men universe behind for good? Do you think these accusations might play into any decision Disney or Fox might end up making?8:46 Spencer ToycenHey there, Sean I hope all is well! Recently, I picked Immortal Hulk and that series became my go to Marvel book right now. I've always loved the Hulk especially the Bixby/Ferrigno show, so with this new ongoing bringing back the traveling aspect is a welcomed return. With that being said, I feel that's something missing from Banner in the MCU. Does Universal seem likely to move on the Hulk rights soon? I just don't know how the Fox deal would effect that, if at all. Thanks, Sean!13:43 Woo S! KimNow that it is set, that we are going to have a Los Angeles Rams versus New England Patriots Superbowl, I am assuming being a born and raised Los Angeles guy, you will have a Superbowl party, you have one almost every year correct?  On the more Marvel side of things, how likely and would you rather Marvel Studios have a “Captain Marvel” Superbowl ad over an “Avengers: End Game” Superbowl ad because correct me if I'm wrong aren't Superbowl ads for movies a minimum thirty and a maximum sixty seconds and since “Captain Marvel” is coming out sooner wouldn't it make more sense for Marvel Studios to put more money into Captain Marvel's Superbowl ad, rather than “Avengers: End Game?”  The reason I say is because Kevin Feige did say on the Golden Globes Red Carpet that in the marketing Marvel Studios isn't going to show past the first fifteen to twenty minutes of the film.  How can one show pretty much the same clips over and over without making it look like Marvel Studios is recycling footage, I guess changing the music in ads, helps.  Feige could be lying about the fifteen to twenty minutes, but do you see my point am I off base on this one, Sean?20:43 Woo S! KimIn my mind, something that would happen in the aftermath of “Avengers: Endgame”  is The Avengers taking control of “The Raft” and making it theirs and the prison under either T'Chalia's control or Captain Danvers or The Avengers as a collective, what are your thoughts, Sean?22:26 Woo S! KimThis is something I have thought about after watching the roundtables for “Black Panther” and for “Avengers: Infinity War” which are both superb. If and or when Fantastic Four and X-Men get films made by Marvel Studios and for that matter whenever Marvel Studios produces and releases an A-Force film.  I would really like some of the creative forces behind X-Men Comics like Chris Claremont, Joss Whedon to sit down with the directors/writers of Marvel Studios X-Men film to discuss the characters similar to how Ryan Coogler and his production staff were able to talk some of Black Panther's comic book writers.  In that same vein when an A-Force film is released I would really like Sana Amant and Kelly Sue Deconnick a chance to sit down with filmmakers and talk about their experiences re-launching Ms. and Captain Marvel to audiences young and old alike, what are your thoughts, Sean?24:20 Michael Louis WeaselboyHey Sean how is your weekend going I hope its going well. Let me just say real quick that since becoming a patron I have been overloaded with stuff to listen to thanks to your show. Anyways I was wondering if Blade were to become a movie in the MCU how would you do it?? Would you have any other Characters cameo?? Who would you cast as Blade?? And finally who should be the villain? Also do you think they will make a "Marvel Knights" brand for R rated movies?? Thoughts??28:45 BenHey Sean! I remember you saying that Nate Moore would be a worthy successor to Kevin Feige, and I agree. But it doesn't seem like Feige is going anywhere anytime soon and Moore should be a hot commodity to anyone with an upstart cinematic universe. For instance, if I was Toby Emmerich I would snatch him up to run a Milestone Media line of movies. Do you think Nate Moore will be poached by another studio in the near future?33:20 MayaMy #1 favorite marvel scene of all time is the "She's not alone" scene when Okoye and Black Widow come to Wanda's rescue when she is fighting Proxima Midnight. I really respect and agree with your comment about how an all woman marvel team up shouldn't require a reason as to why the men are absent. I think an all woman team up would be DOPE and I'm hoping we can see it within the next 3 years. Which character do you think would make a great villain if it was also a woman?38:20 AlexHey Sean, As I recall, I once asked you if whether the recent  Singer allegations would make you reconsider ever watching his films especially his comic book movies now I have to ask do you think that the allegations against Mr. Singer could potentially taint the legacy of the X-Men films for majority of people?  and what do you think  of Millennium Pictures keeping  Singer as the director of Red Sonja   despite  the new allegations  says about Hollywood?43:01 AlexAny comment on the Brazilian delay on approving the Disney/Fox merger past the expected  January 30th date? Why do you think its taking so long for Brazil to approve the merger and do you still have confidence the deal will close pretty early?44:18 AlexNow that Millennium  Pictures for whatever bizarre reason decided to keep Singer as the director of the Red Sonja film despite these new flood of allegations against him it got me thinking how would you feel if Marvel did the same and hired Singer or someone like him on a project and once credible sexual misconduct allegations start coming out about them  Kevin Feige and Alan Horn stood their ground and still keeps them as director on the project  then in that scenario could you in  good conscience ever  bring yourself to support the film?45:42 Alex WardIs it at all possible that a deal has been reached between Marvel Studios and Sony and we just haven't heard about it yet? Say, for example, Sony sold the rights for Spider-Man back to Marvel Studios--we'd have to hear about that, right? Also, what would it take from Sony to let Marvel Studios make Norman Osborn a major crossover villain in the MCU?54:23 David RosenHey Sean and Friends! Hope everyone has had a good week! We got some exciting news today about Dr. Strange's sequel and it got me thinking: we know that directors talk to each other when they go to make the team-up films, such as the Russos talking to Ryan Coogler, Taiki Waititi, and so on when they were making Infinity War to make sure they were continuing on what each director established in their solo film.. However, do you think it also works the other way around, in that some of the individual directors will talk to the writers and directors of the team up films where those versions of a character seem to work better than in their solo films? For example, while I'm personally a fan of him in both movies, I'd say there is more or less a general consensus that Dr. Strange was written better and more enjoyable in Infinity War than in his solo movie. Do you think when they go to write Dr. Strange 2, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill might talk with the Russo's and Markus and McFeely about how they approached and wrote that character that made him one of the highlights of Infinity War?As the MCU continues to grow, it seems like there is the potential for more and more characters to be handled by different directors, and I wonder if all the creatives at Marvel Studios might look at which movie or movies each character's characterization was the most successful/enjoyed by audiences and try to continue applying those thought processes that for all future films that a character will appear in. 59:37 Mookie JohnsonPotential Avengers: Endgame spoiler question See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
