Oftentimes, even a revolutionary technological advancement is only the beginning of something bigger. Such was the case in the early 2000s, when the Royal Bank of Scotland released a mobile-banking app that precipitated not only the age of mobile banking, but a proliferation of other apps designed to give people easier access to and control over their money. The same phenomenon has happened since the Bitcoin whitepaper appeared: Beginning with a single game-changer, Bitcoin, the crypto space has blossomed with all manner of innovations: Not just other currencies like Ether, but entirely new ways of building, managing, and investing wealth. We'll learn about the creation of the very first mobile banking app. Then, along with BlackRock's Samara Cohen, we'll dive into the world of new opportunities that crypto has opened up, from ETH and the Ethereum network, to smart contracts, tokenization, and the recent wave of crypto ETPs that have brought even more investors into the crypto space.

Hive Digital Technologies Executive Chairman Frank Holmes joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company's unaudited production figures for June. The company reported mining 119 Bitcoin during the month, increasing its Bitcoin holdings by 2%, bringing the total to 2,496 Bitcoin on the balance sheet. Hive maintained an impressive average Bitcoin mining capacity of over 4.7 Exahash ("EH/s") in June. With a Bitcoin HODL value exceeding $140 million as of July 7, the company's enterprise value appears very attractive compared to its peers. Holmes shared that the company has received confirmation that the remaining batch of its S21 orders are ready to ship and have been upgraded to S21 Pro models. This upgrade represents approximately 1,150 S21 Pro miners from Hive's original order placed in December. Additionally, the new purchase of 1,000 S21 Pro miners, announced in the May production report, are also ready to ship. With the deployment of these new machines, Hive Digital Technologies anticipates a significant boost in its total operational hashrate, expected to reach 5.5 EH/s once fully installed. The global fleet efficiency is projected to improve to 24.5 J/TH. The company plans to have these new machines installed and operational before the end of July. These advancements underscore Hive's commitment to expanding its mining capacity and optimizing its operations, positioning the company for continued growth and increased competitiveness in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency mining industry. #proactiveinvestors #usglobalinvestors #airline #travel #oil #jets #BitcoinMining, #CryptoMining, #GreenEnergy, #SustainableMining, #CryptoInvesting, #FinancialTechnology, #BitcoinHoldings, #DigitalFinance, #HighPerformanceComputing, #AfricaFinance, #MobileBanking, #EnergyEfficiency, #Cryptocurrency, #TechUpgrades, #ShareholderValue, #FinancialDemocratization, #MiningEquipment, #BitcoinProduction, #CryptoNews #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

With online banking, you do not need to download an application which is why it's a simple and popular option for many.   Mobile Banking is typically conducted through a financial institution's mobile app, however many FIs also offer some mobile banking capabilities through SMS texts.  Online and Mobile banking is convenient for those who want to manage their finances from home or on-the-go. Both provide:  Account Information  Transaction History  Fund Transfers Bill Pay Card Management Budgeting Tools and more!   Online Banking and Mobile Banking offer similar tools and features to keep your banking experience easy and convenient. If you're new to online or mobile banking here are a few of the features you should consider setting up and using right away.  Text Alerts. For those who don't have a smartphone, text alerts allow credit union members to receive notifications directly to their phone with an SMS text when large deposits or large withdrawals are made, weekly account balance updates, or when their account balance falls below a specific amount, to name a few. To sign up for these notifications, log into your online banking account (on your computer) and enter your phone number.    Remote Deposit Capture. Through your financial institution's mobile app, you can use remote deposit capture to deposit a check without stepping a foot into a branch. RDC typically only takes a minute or two which makes it a popular option for those with busy lifestyles. If you don't have a smartphone, you can still deposit checks from home through your online banking account using a scanner.     Push Notifications. Similar to text alerts, push notifications can be enabled to alert you when specific actions occur on your account. These can include spending transaction notifications, low balance, large deposits or large withdrawals, etc. To enable push notifications, log into your bank or credit union's mobile app and toggle these notifications on.   Both mobile and online banking allow you to manage your money in ways that work best for you. But technology isn't just a supporting feature for organizations anymore, technology is a business channel. And for banks to take advantage of that, they need to be flexible, they need to be quick to adopt new features, and they need to have a solid tech foundation. And above all, they need a robust digital implementation strategy. In this Financial Futures season finale, we explore what makes for an effective, and repeatable, digital implementation strategy. We ask what the building blocks of a successful implementation are and we find out what the common pitfalls are to avoid. Financial wellness + millennials and Gen Z = a huge opportunity for credit unions. At least for the credit unions that approach wellness for that age cohort with the right tone of voice and mindset. That's the core advice offered in this show by Doug Brown, president NCR Digital Banking.  Before that he was at FIS and before that, in 2007, he launched Bank of America's mobile app.Brown brings personal experience to this discussion because he has two adult children currently living at home - and, yes, he talks finances with them and in the process has picked up insights into how best to communicate about dollars and cents to younger generations. His advice to credit unions is to get financial wellness tools - ones especially tailored to Gen Z and Millennials - built into the mobile app.  That's what NCR is offering and the reasoning is simple. Those age groups use phones throughout their waking hours.  They are accustomed to notifications via the phone and they read them.Aren't a lot of them drowning in student debt? Brown offers insights into this issue and he also discussed how credit unions can help show a way out of this indebtedness. It may take time, it will take a plan, but there are ways out.A bottomline message of this show is don't give up on bringing in younger members. It may seem hard. But young members are the future.Listen up.Like what you are hearing? Find out how you can help sponsor this podcast here. Very affordable sponsorship packages are available. Name the last big innovation in mobile banking. No rush. It's understandable if you are stumped because, well, there really haven't been many in the past half dozen years.Ken Kondo, newly appointed chief innovation officer at Troy, Mich. based Maholo Banking, is on the show to tell his plan for upping innovation in mobile banking. And he believes more innovation is critical if credit unions are to win more members from the younger demographics.Quick now, do you know what a magic eight ball is in tech speak? Or Konami Code?If you do, know that you will hear Kondo's take on these topics. And if you don't know, know you are going to have fun learning how such concepts just might help credit union code writers innovate more. How about the so-called fart* feature built into Tesla cars - know about that? Kondo loves the outrageous, unexpected nature of the feature - and believes it is features like that will help credit unions create excitement for their mobile baking apps.By now you have probably realized this is a show that it, well, different from many of the others in our catalog. Along with his successful entrepreneurship career, Parker has also played in the NFL as a tackle for the Baltimore Ravens and was named Innovator of the Year by Pipeline in 2022. Throughout the episode, Davis, Victoria, Jeff, and Parker discuss the past, present, and future of Finotta and the intricacies behind funding a startup.   Show Notes: (1:05) Introduction to Parker (1:34) About Finotta (2:38) Finotta's Journey So Far (5:09) Who Finotta Caters To (8:43) How Being an Athlete Influences Entrepreneurship (13:57) The Ideology behind Finotta (19:29) Advice to Entrepreneurs  (25:25) Advice to Younger Self (27:19) Closing Thoughts   Links: Davis McEntire Victoria Dickerson Jeff Amerine Parker Graham Finotta   Quotes: “The mobile app looks similar at every bank and credit union, there's not a lot of differentiation. So what we build is a technology that gets embedded in the mobile front end and personalizes the user experience.” - Parker Graham, (1:49) “It's all about engagement. We improve the times that users are spending on the device with that bank. So the more time the bank has with that customer, the more opportunities they have to sell them a product and generate revenue.” - Parker Graham, (5:46) “Open banking is the buzzword and what that means is the infrastructure is becoming less siloed where technology's starting to talk to each other. Technology stacks are becoming more fluid and it allows for companies like us to come in and build and deploy cool stuff quickly.” - Parker Graham, (16:29) “Be patient and get your metrics in order so that when you want to raise capital, you can. The worst thing you can do is get on a treadmill where you're constantly consuming and needing more.” - Parker Graham, (21:21)

It's not uncommon for people to bank with more than one provider. Add into the mix mortgages, finance agreements, insurance, or any of the other countless financial products we all purchase, and it doesn't take long to get overwhelmed by the incredible number of services we need to keep on top of. Because with every product comes a new platform, a new username, and a new login - making it almost impossible to get a snapshot of what your daily finances actually look like. But there is a solution - one that's been in the making for nearly thirty years. And it's called open banking. In today's episode of Financial Futures, we find out how open banking is helping regional banks to innovate and evolve and how it's giving customers visibility of, and control over, all their financial products. We'll discover how open banking has evolved since its first iteration in the 90s and we'll find out why giving customers exposure to competing products is actually a good thing for regional banks. So join us as we speak with FIS's business unit manager for APIs and integration services, Eric Guion about why open banking adoption has soared in recent months and explore all the possibilities that this cutting-edge tech will afford regional banks. We'll also ask: What do banks need to consider before adopting open banking? How is open banking helping regional banks to expand and grow? What is the difference between open banking and screen scraping? How safe is open banking? What has led to the rise of open banking?
