For the month of January, we are changing things up a bit with the podcast. Instead of our regular interview-style episodes, we will be sharing the teaching from the main talks from our last Fall Conference. This is the first time we are using the podcast platform to share teaching like this. We are kicking off the year with a big reminder that, as believers, we are Messengers of Hope. This past fall, around 400 youth ministry specialists from 18 Central and Eastern European countries came together after a two-year break for our “Movement Conference,” designed to fuel God's work among young people across the region. The theme was "Messenger of Hope." In the evenings, we heard some fantastic teaching by three Josiah Venture missionaries. This episode features Paul Bowman, Josiah Venture Director for the United Kingdom, with his Fall Conference talk, "Fuel For the Flame." We hope you enjoy this encouraging talk and that you are inspired to be a messenger of hope. As the 1974 school year began, Wayne Woodward was a beloved high school teacher in a rural Texas town. By the following spring, he was embroiled in a local political firestorm that would ultimately cost him his job. Woodward's sin was, in his own words, naively trying to found a chapter of the ACLU in his Hereford, Texas community. In You Will Never Be One of Us: A Teacher, A Texas Town, and the Rural Roots of Radical Conservatism (University of Oklahoma Press, 2022) West Texas A&M Professor Timothy Bowman tells the remarkable story of Woodward's teaching career, his fight over the ACLU chapter, and the nationally-covered wrongful termination trial that followed. Woodward's story casts shifts the story of American conservatism away from the suburbs and toward rural places like Hereford, where local frontier identities helped create distrust of outsiders and a strong streak of libertarianism. The central question of the book is one of human behavior: why otherwise average Americans would work so hard to run an idealistic young person and beloved teacher out of town? The answer has everything to do with Mexican immigration, labor unrest, and the roiling culture wars, and speaks directly to our present political moment. Timothy Paul Bowman is Associate Professor of History and Chair of the Department of History at West Texas A&M University in Canyon and the author of Blood Oranges: Colonialism and Agriculture in the South Texas Borderlands. Today's episode is an interview with my old friend Professor Paul Bowman of Cardiff University who is something of a mover and shaker in the academic field of martial arts studies. Paul has written several academic books on martial arts including Martial Arts Mythologies, The Invention of Martial Arts and Theorising Bruce Lee. He also co-edits the Martial Arts Studies Journal for the Martial Arts Studies Research Network. Years ago I taught Paul attended my Tai Chi class- and now we both train Brazilian jiujitsu in the same organisation so this is quite an informal chat. We talk about what Paul's been up to since he last appeared on my podcast (that was back in episode 3 if you want to check it out), his upcoming book on self defence and the sublime, plus his unhealthy obsession with the Internet personality Master Wong. On this episode of Sasquatch Tracks, archaeologist Paul Bowman joins us for a discussion about anthropological perspectives applied toward the search for relict hominoids, as well as his interest in the Almasty of the Caucasus and other Asian varieties of mystery primates.  Paul Bowman is a member of the North American Wood Ape Conservancy (NAWAC) and an experienced field archaeologist with expertise in the oil and gas industry and in telecommunications and tribal consultation. Paul's specialty is in faunal analysis and zooarchaeology, but when it comes to the search for relict hominoids, his fascination particularly lies with the study of the mysterious Almas of Caucasian folklore, which are said to reside in the Pamir Mountains of Central Asia, as well as the Altai Mountains of western Mongolia.  Paul joins us to discuss his efforts with the NAWAC organization in recent months, as well as his personal interests and passions as an archaeologist looking at the Sasquatch subject in this installment of Sasquatch Tracks. Today I am talking to Paul Bowman who was the department range master in the 1980's when the Kansas City Police Department transitioned from revolvers to semi-automatic handguns.  This transition from over 100 years of one type of gun to a completely different type, is actually one of the biggest changes in law enforcement history.  In less than one generation, over 15,000 departments and agencies changed from primarily carrying revolvers to primarily carrying semi autos.  And with change comes fear, resistance, and growing pains.Paul and I made an effort here to talk about guns in a way that is accessible to non-shooters.  I want people who are unfamiliar with some of these guns and their histories to be able to follow along, while still giving experienced shooters enough new information to keep them engaged too.  And I think we did a pretty good job of it too, although I had a hard time reigning in my enthusiasm.  Paul is just one of those guys with whom it's fun to talk about guns.Music is by Chris Haugen from the YouTube Audio Library and by Winking Fox Music from Pixebay.Hey Chaplain Podcast Episode 013

It has evolved over the years and by the time that I started working here in 2009 it was a well established program. I became the program director a short time after that and since that time have worked really to bring more research trials to our patient population and to have a cohesive management of care. Our team includes a nurse, a therapist. a social worker, and then three physicians who primarily take care of the patients here, of which I am one. We have collaborated with the group over in Dallas with some trials to look at the effect of something called a patent foramen ovale, or a small hole in the heart in terms of its influence on the

Today on the More Cheese, Less Whiskers podcast, we're talking with Paul Bowman, who lives not far from me, right here in Winter Haven. We actually kind of serendipitously met at our local Starbucks and struck up a conversation. He runs some fitness boot camp’s here in Winter Haven. We talked about what he was doing to fill his boot camps and he laughed when I asked if he was on the ‘transformation crack’. I wanted to help him break to habit, so we jumped on today’s call. He's been working on some alternatives over the last few months and we got a chance today to talk about the most compelling, easy way for him to fill out his roster. He's got space for 150 recurring members in his facility and he's at 83 right now. We talked about the fastest possible way, with the least friction as possible, to fill up those remaining 70 spots. You're going to like the conversation and what it led to.     Links: Show Notes: MoreCheeseLessWhiskers.com/091 Postcard Program: TheWorldsMostInterstingPostcard.com Referrals Manifesto: GettingReferrals.com Scorecard: ProfitActivatorScore.com Email Mastery: EmailMastery.com Want to be a guest on the show?
