Today's show takes a look at postpartum depression through a firsthand account of the struggle to understand and heal. My guest is another example that finding just the right therapy makes all the difference because the same treatment modalities don't work for everyone. Join us for Amanda's inspiring story. Amanda Cunningham is a Pop/R&B singer-songwriter, wife, and mother of a 10-year-old daughter. Songwriting and singing provide her with an outlet to put her oversharing to good use, letting others know that it's okay to poke fun at your imperfections and the trauma you've gone through and grown from. Amanda has struggled with mental health throughout her life, most recently having been diagnosed with Bipolar II, and she's here to share her postpartum depression story and her journey to find healing. She shares helpful insights about her feelings of guilt and what it's like to live in the “fog” of mental health issues. Amanda and I hope that her story can be an avenue of healing for others in similar situations. Show Highlights: An overview of Amanda's chaotic life and mental health struggles when she got pregnant at age 19 How Amanda had virtually no help or support when her daughter was born How the first two years of motherhood were a blur of mental fog for Amanda that she didn't realize until years later How Amanda's Bipolar II diagnosis came in recent months, confirming what she suspected about her mental health issues Why it's a massive flaw in our standard postpartum care for healthcare providers not to ask more about how a new mother is coping Why Amanda started therapy when her daughter was a few years old How Amanda found music as part of her healing and recovery Why it's easier to look back with a new perspective when enough time has passed What Amanda has learned about her journey Amanda's advice to others in similar situations Resources: Connect with Amanda and hear her music: Website, Instagram, and TikTok Visit my website, www.wellmindperinatal.com, for more information, resources, and courses you can take today!

Durell shares that as you elevate with anything you do in life, change is inevitable for the better. He shares that he loves creating arrangements that don't lose the origin of the song.Durell asks HYLYND about how he's been able to keep his monthly listenership high with over 30K. He shares that his best performing song is a song called “Hands” which was on his debut EP which has now caught it's own legs and has been running smoothly now on its own. He shares that he hasn't liked social media in the past because he grew up in a time where there was a lot of mystery with artistry which really doesn't exist. He also feels that artists don't like social media because they feel they have to be inauthentic. He said he's come up with a process of creating content around who he is and put a bullseye around that to make it work. For more info on HYLYND, please visit his website below:https://www.hylynd.com/

We had the pleasure of interviewing Lafemmebear over Zoom video! As an up-and-coming producer, Mitchell worked alongside producers for Boyz II Men, Grammy-winners The Jackie Boyz, Eric Dawkins of The Underdogs, Polo Molina of Will. I. Am/The Black Eyed Peas, and Interscope Records producers from Nelly's songwriting team. When she came out as a transgender woman in 2013, she was effectively blacklisted from the industry despite her skill and accomplishments, including a 2012 Grammy win for album engineering. This only prompted Mitchell to take her music into her own hands under the name Lafemmebear in 2018. The arrival of her first indie release, Blaq* A Note to the World, showed that her sound has evolved into a genre-blending experience speaking to the trials of Black queer, trans femmes. The music video for the EP single "SHUTUP! (feat. Bella King)" premiered on Billboard.com in March of 2019; she subsequently became the first Black trans woman to headline the state of Utah's Pride Festival in June, performing original music to an audience of over 60,000. Her words and work have since been featured by The Guardian, MTV News, GLAAD, Queerty, Out.Tv Euro, and Autostraddle. Her first full album, Blaq: the Story of Me, premiered Fall 2019 and is available on all platforms. She is composing, mixing, and sound designing part of the original score for Alice Sheppard and Kinetic Light's new work WIRED. In 2020 she collaborated with PEG Records, Cody Belew, and Dustin Ransom to co-write and produce the first mainstream Pop-R&B single “What You're Looking For” for Rupaul's Drag Race's Peppermint. She and Peppermint later collaborated with Mila Jam in a remake of Sounds of Blackness' "Optimistic," an anthem for Trans Day of Remembrance 2020. In February 2021 she opened for Chika at Stanford University's Black Love concert, premiering songs from her new EP titled My Blaq Feels. We want to hear from you! Hailing from Nashville,TN, Lord Goldie, also known as Karizma (a monicher aptly coined for her charismatic stage presence), has been a creative, an artist and an iconoclast since birth. In a town that has historically turned its back on the hip hop community, Lord Goldie exists in an authentic space that fuses underground hip hop, soul, and rock. During her formative years, Goldie was equally as inspired by Linkin Park, Jimi Hendrix, and Nirvana as she was by Jay-Z, Tupac, Queen Latifah, and UGK. It is now no surprise that she is well-versed in cross-genre collaboration and marrying distinct sounds into a cohesive story. Lord Goldie has carved a niche in the greater Nashville area, thus enabling her to release meaningful content consistently. This multi-hyphenate raps, writes, produces, and manages, offering creative direction to up-and-coming independent artists like herself. She released her debut project, Built 2 Last, in 2014 and has only gained momentum since then. The following year, part one of her EP series ADHD (Another Dollar Hustlin Daily) was met with rave reviews. In 2017, Goldie dropped music videos for singles “Day By Day” and “Like I'm Broke” on YouTube. Later that year, she collaborated with eclectic Pop/R&B band, MUJA Music, to provide a dynamic live show unlike anything that's been seen in Music City. Lord Goldie has graced the stages of many iconic Nashville staples, including The Mercy Lounge, The High Watt, The Back Corner, and City Winery. Her talents have even taken her to the New Orleans House of Blues, as well as the coveted SXSW and A3C festival stages. Her Trap Conscious EP was released in 2018, leading with the single, “Leanin.” 2019 was a transformative year for Lord Goldie as she continued to mesmerize crowds while performing alongside a live band. She released the hit singles “Risks,” “How Low,” and “When You Ready.” By the end of 2019, Goldie's resonant Trap Conscious catapulted her to nominations for Best Rap Solo Artist, Best Urban Album, and Album of the Year at the Nashville Industry Music Awards. In 2020, Lord Goldie continues to push the needle forward in the Nashville hip-hop scene, while keeping her ear to the streets to elevate and support new talent.
