Broadway Publicist and Tony Award Honoree Irene Gandy Takes Us Behind the Curtains of The Great White Way, along with Emilio Sosa, the newly appointed Chair of the American Theater Wing. The recent Tony Awards gave us all hope and a strong signal that Broadway is coming back after taking a hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. And we will see more diversity as actors and producers gave speeches about their yearning for more inclusive stories on Broadway stages. In this interview, these two Broadway leadership stars share a behind the scenes look at one of the best places on earth! Start buying tickets and support the theater now! Irene Gandy is the only Black female press agent member of ATPAM (Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers) for over 50 years. Working with Producer Jeffrey Richards for over three decades, she is a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer for The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, and was a producer for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill starring Audra MacDonald. She was also co-producer with Voza Rivers of the National tour of South African musical Sarafina. In 2008, she became the first female press agent to be immortalized with a Sardi's caricature. A fashionista known for her furs, in 2015 she launched a signature collection featured in Vogue magazine and will debut a Lady Irene Fur line in 2022.  Gandy's recent productions include The Great Society, American Son, China Doll, Fiddler on the Roof, and You Can't Take It With You. She began her career in 1968 as a publicist with Douglas Turner Ward and Robert Hooks' Negro Ensemble Company. Since then, she has worked on over 100 Broadway shows including August: Osage County, Glengarry Glen Ross, Radio Golf, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Lena Horne: The Lady and her Music, and The Wiz. About Emilio Sosa: Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, Emilio is one of Broadway's most unique talents. He began his theatre career at Grace Costumes, starting as a shopper, and eventually becoming its Creative Director. He credits this time as the foundation for his career. Emilio went on to tour the world with Celine Dion, The Alvin Ailey Dance Company, and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Emilio made a name for himself styling music videos for Hip Hop pioneers, Salt-N- Pepa, MC Lyte, and Kid & Play to name a few. He has also designed for music icons Diana Ross, Mariah Carey and Gloria Estefan. Catching the eye of director Spike Lee, Emilio became his in-house stylist, working on national and international ad campaigns, before setting his sight on Broadway, where he was mentored by director George C. Wolfe, for whom he designed his first Broadway show, TOPDOG / UNDERDOG. His other Broadway credits include, ON YOUR FEET! The Emilio and Gloria Estefan Story, MOTOWN: The Musical, PORGY AND BESS (TONY Award nom) and LADY DAY at EMERSON'S BAR AND GRILL. He shares the unique distinction of being the first designer of color to design The Radio City Music Hall Spring Spectacular and a new permanent number for the legendary Christmas Show, both starring The Rockettes. He has received both Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations and has been the recipient a Lucille Lortell Award, NAACP Theatre Awards, and LA Ovation Award. Emilio's talent was also evident on season seven of Project Runway and Project Runway All Stars, where he showed his final collection on all models of color, a first for the popular franchise. A proud Trustee of the American Theatre Wing, Emilio shares his vast theatre knowledge with communities rarely represented, by sponsoring theatre trips, workshops and talk backs. “I believe theatre has the ability to build the bridges needed for all of us to better understand ourselves and the world we live in.” Learn more about your ad choices. In episode seventy one of the Glow Journal podcast, host Gemma Watts talks to the co founder of Milk Makeup, Zanna Roberts Rassi.Zanna's very first job was as a model, after her boyfriend at the time secretly entered her into a modelling competition. While it was never really her passion, Zanna explains that it did open her eyes to the number of roles that existed (and still exist) behind the scenes. She spent most of her time on set asking questions of those around her- so it's no surprise that the job she eventually moved into was that of a journalist. It was while having her makeup done on set that Zanna realised she wanted to be part of the story telling of beauty, so she made herself known to the Beauty Editor of the magazine for which she was modelling and secured herself an internship. In time, Zanna became a Beauty Assistant and eventually Beauty Editor at Marie Claire magazine, during which time she met her now husband, Mazdack Rassi, co-founder of Milk Studios. Zanna then moved from London to New York and was soon asked to host a fashion segment on the Today Show. That segment became a launchpad for her television career, with Zanna now serving as E!'s style correspondent, a Today Show contributor and, previously, as a guest judge and mentor on Project Runway All Stars. It was in around 2013 that Zanna, her husband and their soon-to-be Milk co-founders Georgie Greville and Dianna Ruth began to conceptualise what would eventually become Milk Makeup, craving easy, fun, multi-tasking makeup. They launched in 2016 with 85 products, and today Milk Makeup is available to consumers in over 130 countries. In this conversation, Zanna shares why Milk are intent on creating products that have never been seen before, the story of her stint as an undercover makeup artist at Paris Fashion Week, and why her first real encounter with beauty was reminiscent of, in her words, “advanced hypothermia.” Read more at glowjournal.comFollow Milk Makeup on Instagram at @milkmakeup.Follow Zanna Roberts Rassi on Instagram at @zannarassiStay up to date with Gemma on Instagram at @gemkwatts and @glow.journal, or get in touch at hello@gemkwatts.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

In this third episode of the Podcast Live by Crina Okumus, I talk to the beautiful Angela Lindvall. Angela is a model, actress, yogi, and a mother of two beautiful boys. She was featured on the cover of Italian Vogue in 1997, photographed by Steven Meisel. She was featured on many top magazine covers in the late 1990s and the early 2000s, such as Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Maria Claire, Numero, W, i-D, V, and so on. And during the peak of her long career, she was always the world's top designers' favorite, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, Stella McCartney. She was a Prada Girl and a Chanel Girl. She has worked as the face of Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Prada, Calvin Klein, Miu Miu, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Versace, DKNY, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, Missoni, Jil Sander, and Jimmy Choo. As an actress, she has appeared in several films, including CQ in 2001 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in 2005 and Small Apartments in 2010. She was the host of the fashion reality series Project Runway: All-Stars, an extension of the popular series Project Runway.Angela is a tremendously inspiring woman of many talents. While at the peak of her modeling career, she became pregnant. Voices from the industry told her she would be jeopardizing her career should she decide to continue with the pregnancy. Angela persisted in the face of pressure, became a happy mother, and never looked at the industry through the same lense. Her story is emblematic of the unique struggles women endure when chasing their dreams.Since a young age, she has always been drawn to human consciousness, metaphysics, Ancient cultures, and spirituality. She began to privately study feverishly at the age of 15- questioning life's purpose and researching as a hobby. After becoming a mother of two, and slowing down her career, she became a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, Health coach, and recently started her certification as a Doula. Being “The Mother” she considers her true calling and purpose in life. For over 3 years she has been envisioning and creating the direction to share this purpose beyond her own children. In addition to her career, Angela openly talked about some of the most meaningful events in her life:- Her definition of BEAUTY- Another view of the fashion industry after becoming a mother- Her story with COVID-19 - The loss of her younger sister at an early age- The importance of caring for the mind and the body with discipline and commitment - What are we doing with our time and the people that we love - Her new Passion Project: Peace Begins in Meand many more topics...What struck me the most was Angela’s openness to sharing what most of us might think of as sensitive information. When you combine this openness with the curiosity that comes from years of challenging experiences, what you see is an intellectually curious, wise, and loving person who transcends herself to talk about the human condition per se. Thank you, Angela, for sharing your thoughts and experiences with me. I feel truly blessed. To all our listeners, kindly support us by liking this video and subscribing to our channel! With love and good wishes,Crina O.

Annie Choi is passionate about creating safe spaces. After a mid-career pivot from the entertainment industry (working with Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Project Runway), she found herself seeking to create something, specifically, a place where people could feel free to be themselves and push back against the loneliness of Los Angeles. Thus, Found Coffee was born. Nestled in the Eagle Rock Neighborhood between Pasadena and Glendale, Found is a “gathering place” that “serves the community with exceptional customer service, delicious goods, and a sense of comfort.” In this episode of the CFWLA Podcast, Annie shares about her career-pivot, what following Jesus looks like in her life, how she's navigating life as an entrepreneur, and how a theology of space can change a community. ANNIE BIO Annie Choi was one of the inaugural Fellows in the 2018 Cohort for the Center for Faith and Work LA Fellowship. She is the owner of Found Coffee, a specialty coffee shop in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. Prior to being an entrepreneur, she worked in the television post production industry on notable shows such Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Project Runway: All Stars. She loves telling stories and has a passion for gathering community. On her days off, she enjoys traveling, cuddling with her pup, Frankie, going to other coffee shops, and reading non-fiction books. QUOTABLE On Handling Anxiety and Career Changes: (13:12-13:54) “My intense period of anxiety and worry was mitigated by simply sitting. That's hard for a lot of us in cities, especially with demanding careers. We don't know how to sit and listen. I was forced to do that, and now I'm actually kind of grateful for that time of misery, because it just showed me how to be grateful for what I do have.” On Cultivating Hospitality at Found: (22:08-22:21) “My philosophy is that everyone wants to be known by name, and God calls us by name. So, it's really important that everyone in my shop is known by name. … We can hold space for someone who feels isolated.” On Handling Difficult Customer Interactions: (30:30-30:54) “Being a barista is not an easy job just because it's minimum wage. Because I've been in my employees' shoes, myself as a barista, I'm incredibly ‘momma bear' when it comes to these types of interactions, but I also try to extend grace.”

Two episodes of Ink Master: Angels, which is proving to be a pretty fun show! Two episodes of Project Runway, which continues to be very professional! And one episode of American Beauty Star, and we were lucky to make it all the way through it. That is a terrible show. Also, we shared some preliminary thoughts on the Project Runway: All Stars 3 lineup and geeked out about the Templar swords on Forged in Fire.

As Game Of Thrones returns from hiatus, and moves beyond the books, the gang plus Jeff and Nick talked about Jon Snow, Crone Castle, and what's next for the Starks. We went around the dial with Better Call Saul, Valleys Silicon and Happy, Houdini & Doyle, Project Runway All-Stars, and the National Enquirer before putting Angie's 30 Rock Canon submission under a "Black Light." Humans? Heard of 'em (they're winners), whoever has to retitle Live With Someone and Maybe Kelly is a loser, and Rib Hurtmann changed a few things in this week's Game Time. She starred on the hit WB series “Charmed” for nine years. The series' debut was the highest-rated premiere in the network's history, and continued to be a great success for Spelling and The WB. The show's international appeal has brought it to more than 100 territories around the world, spanning Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. She also starred on the Fox cornerstone series “Melrose Place.” She began her career on ABC's “Who's the Boss” which aired for eight years. Alyssa had a recurring role on the hit NBC comedy, “My Name is Earl,” and starred in the ABC comedy, “Romantically Challenged.”  Alyssa also starred in the ABC series, “Mistresses.”  The sexy drama series followed four women and their sometimes scandalous romantic lives.Alyssa was seen on the big screen in Garry Marshall's “New Year's Eve,” with co-stars Robert DeNiro, Ashton Kutcher, Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and Sarah Jessica Parker and “Hall Pass,” opposite Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.   Alyssa's additional film credits include “Hugo Pool” co-starring Sean Penn and Robert Downey Jr., the Imagine/Universal film, “Fear,” and “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.” She provided a lead voice for Disney's sequel to the animated favorite “Lady and the Tramp.”  She also starred in and produced the independent film “My Girlfriend's Boyfriend.”Her other role is outside the world of Hollywood, as a philanthropist. UNICEF invited Alyssa, in 2003, to become a National Ambassador, recognizing her charitable work on behalf of children.  Her first trip with the organization was to Angola, Africa (May 2004) to see first-hand the issues plaguing the newly liberated country.  Alyssa followed that trip with a visit to India in June 2005.  She is currently working with UNICEF to educate American youth to the issues crucial to that country's evolution.  She has worked on UNICEF's pivotal “Trick or Treat” campaign as an official spokesperson, and has plans to work with UNICEF on numerous projects in the future. International relief work is not new to the actress. Alyssa hosted a photography exhibition and auction in 2002, in Los Angeles raising money for charitable efforts in South Africa.  An avid photographer, Alyssa displayed her own work, as well as that of school children from L.A.'s Venice Arts program.  The event raised close to $50,000 for Nkosi's Haven, an organization that runs care centers in South Africa for AIDS-afflicted mothers and children. Alyssa was honored for her efforts with a humanitarian award from Sri Chinmoy: The Peace Meditation at the United Nations.  It was this work that got the attention of UNICEF executives. The Global Network for Neglected Tropical Disease Control (GNNTDC), an alliance of international partnerships based at the Sabin Vaccine Institute in Washington D.C. and formalized by the Clinton Global Initiative to lead the global effort to treat, control and eliminate neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in the world's poorest countries recently named Alyssa the organization's founding ambassador. Alyssa will continue work to raise awareness of GNNTDC and NTDs among the mainstream media and with the general public. The John Wayne Cancer Institute at Saint John's Hospital and Health Center and the Associates of Breast & Prostate Cancer Studies presented Alyssa with the Spirit of Hollywood Award in 2004, which honors individuals from the entertainment industry for their personal dedication and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Alyssa also attended the 2004 Democratic National Convention on behalf of the Creative Coalition and is an avid supporter of MTV's Rock the Vote campaign.Alyssa also has her own clothing, jewelry and eyewear line, TOUCH by Alyssa Milano.  Launched in the Spring of 2007, TOUCH was born out of necessity.  When Alyssa, an avid baseball fan, went to games, she wanted to wear fan gear to support her team, but found that the product mix offered in the marketplace did not address her everyday fashion needs.   She felt women should be able to look stylish while cheering on their favorite team.  So, she partnered with G-III Apparel Group and Major League Baseball to design and distribute a line of juniors' ladies MLB apparel.  The line is not just for baseball fans anymore.  She has joined forces with the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, Major League Soccer, Minor League Baseball, The Kentucky Derby and NASCAR, to make TOUCH available to their fans as well. Her book, SAFE AT HOME: Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic (William Morrow), chronicles Alyssa's passion for baseball and how her love for the game has helped shape who she is.She entered the world of graphic novels with the release of “Hacktivist,” a fast-paced cyber-thriller about friendship and freedom in a time of war. The story follows Ed Hiccox and Nate Graft, the young founders of the world's most innovative social media company who moonlight secretly as one of the most notorious black-hat hacker teams on the planet. The second volume was released July 2015. Alyssa is married with a son and a daughter and resides in Los Angeles.
