In this episode of "Rhythms That Restore," I invited my friend and Spiritual Director Allison Bradsher over or a conversation about how we can start this new year slowly, intentionally and we talk about what it looks like when we "Say Yes to the next invitation from God" in 2025. Allison, is a personal Spiritual Director and she is a co-founder of the Retreat House in Memphis, shares her journey and insights on how to nurture our inner life and care for our souls. We discuss the significance of the new year as a time for reflection and growth, using winter as a metaphor for our own inner "heart" work. We talk about having curiosity over our need to fix, growing our capacity for the uncomfortable in life and practices of subtraction in order to create more space. Our key themes include saying yes to God's invitations in this new year, the importance of silence, balancing inner and outer life, and embracing unique spiritual journeys. The episode encourages us to create space for God and engage in practices that foster spiritual development. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schedule your own Spiritual Direction session with Allison Email: allison@bfrlocal.com Website: www.theretreathousememphis.com Instagram: @theretreathousememphis ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience ESBI Retreat Feb 7th and 8th, 2025 Is your soul longing for breathtaking experiences and deep connections? The Soul of Anglicanism: Vocation, Ministry & Beauty A Brief Survey of Anglican History Part 5 of 6 Sessions Join The Rev. Andrew Walmisley, PhD, as he presents a seven-part series on the Soul of Anglicanism. With meetings once per month over the course of six months, Fr. Dan Wetzel was interviewed by Rev. Anne Blanchard live from the Retreat House on May 19th, 2024. Here is some information provided by Dan: "I was raised in a family of devout Catholics where I felt a deep connection with Jesus. After High School, I joined a Catholic order of priests with the intention of becoming one myself. However, after completing four years of college, I decided to leave the church as I did not feel that I was getting all the answers that I sought. In 1977, I Came Upon A Course in Miracles. I felt that I had found my path. The Course made sense to me. I studied, applied and taught the Course for the next 40 years. Compelled to go deeper in 2017, I left my long time marriage and joined the Living Miracles community in Chapala Mexico, where I stayed for a year and a half. When I felt complete there, I moved to Namaste in Ajijic Mexico, and over a year later moved again to Villa Del Angel as I felt Guided by Spirit. During my time in Mexico, I learned of Awakening Together and the teachings of Regina Dawn Akers. I was ready and willing to take the next step which was profound. Clarity ensued and self inquiry assisted in the deepening understanding of any beliefs that I held about myself and seeming separation from God. I continue to learn that my awakening is a gradual revelation that the awareness had always been present, but was mixed with emotions, sensations and thoughts and experienced as the personal self called Dan. Stillness and peace increase daily with meditation and contemplation. Presently, I reside near Mighty Companions with whom I join frequently for support and prayer and the inward journey back to the One Self. I trust that the universe is conspiring to do me good. Allowing everything without judgment, to accept “what is”, is Holy Spirit's (Inner Wisdom) purpose for the dream world of duality, replacing the ego's purpose of separation. Accepting that only Oneness is real is the Atonement, the end of the dream of separation, life and death, and is the experience of the Happiness that We are." Love podcasts? Atheists, Agnostics & Mystics: Crossing the Divide A Fireside Lecture given on August 30, 2017 by Fr. Vincent Pizzuto, Ph.D. St. Columba's Episcopal Church and Retreat House, Inverness, CA Synopsis This public lecture, originally delivered by Fr. Vincent Pizzuto, Ph.D. on August 30, 2017, was one in a series of “Fireside Chats” he introduced in his inaugural year as Vicar of St. Columba's Church & Retreat House in Inverness, California. The series was designed to bring a range of topics into conversation with the Christian spiritual and intellectual tradition. In this lecture, Pizzuto draws upon the framework of “Negative Theology” (apophaticism), to explore Christian mystical language about God from Pseudo-Dionysius to Augustine to Aquinas. In his Boetium de Trinitate, for example, Aquinas observed, “In the end we know God as unknown.” Thus, any God we can imagine can be nothing more than an imaginary God. The language of Negative Theology (i.e., knowing God through a process of negation) may find atheists, agnostics, and mystics in unexpectedly close quarters. Pizzuto concludes that “The rise of modern atheism in the West along with the precipitous decline in church attendance must be understood, at least in part, as a purifying corrective to the spiritual, moral, and imaginative failures of our religious institutions. The consequence of these failures is the church's diminishing capacity to convey beauty. It is, after all, beauty that attracts the human spirit and beauty that compels the human conscience toward the good, not the dry, rigid formulas of doctrine, nor the clinical dissection of biblical texts, nor the ethical demands to love even before we ourselves have been made to understand not only that we are lovable…but that we are indeed love itself.” (Contemplating Christ, 40). In this episode, Fr. Lorenzo chats with the experiment managers for the “Being With Clergy” experiment which sought to combat the large number of young clergy who are leaving ministry a few years after ordination. The youngest of nine children born of a devout Irish-Catholic mother, Sister Mary Michael Fox entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia (Nashville) at age 21, and has served in the community's primary apostolate of teaching for over 30 years. After being trained as a catechist for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Sister Mary Michael was so intrigued by its approach that she conducted doctoral research into the nature of its pedagogy. In February 2023, she published her research in a book, Following God's Pedagogy: Principles for Children's Catechesis (LTP, 2023). Sister Mary Michael currently serves at the Congregation's Retreat House in Dickson, Tennessee as both Martha and Mary: cooking, cleaning, and assisting with any of practical needs during retreats, and intercessory prayer before, during, and after each retreat. The evening will finish around 8:30pm COST - FREE (donations would be welcome, but there's no pressure to give anything except your time!) Furry animals with exceptional scent detection skills are being trained to find landmines and other lethal explosives hidden in the ground in Cambodia (and other countries where hidden landmines cause thousands of deaths, and make huge areas of land too dangerous to use). The light weight of these animals (about the size of an average domestic cat) means they don't detonate the explosives- but are fast and accurate at finding them so the disposal teams can follow on, and spend all their time making them safe without having first to find them. Other scent detection animals are able to rapidly identify tuberculosis in humans - a disease still raging in many countries. Over one million people die each year through undetected and therefore untreated TB. We feature a report sent from Louise Whitelegg who is in Cambodia, and watched these amazing animals at work. Well worth taking a look at the website - www.apopo.org Plus there's some really beautiful music in the programme - and our notice board too Please email items for the notice board : judithley@manxradio.com

The ordinary works that I am doing now becomes extra-ordinary when offered to God, with God, and in God. Napawi ang takot ko noon at naging matibay ang pagtitiwala ko sa Panginoon na Syang nagbigay sa akin ng lakas at tibay na ipagpatuloy ang mission na itinalaga niya sa akin. - Dolores Montales | Institute of Our Lady of the Annunciation Manalangin tayo: Panginoon gabayan N'yo po kaming lahat na mga tinawag N'yo sa ibat ibang misyon sa buhay. Nang magampanan namin ito nang naaayon sa'yong mahal na kalooban. Amen.

At the heart of AT YOUR SERVICE today are two stories from the Gospel according to St Matthew - both involve miracles, but one of them involves taking a leap of faith - it's the story of Jesus walking on the stormy waters of the Sea of Galilee, and disciple Peter trying to do the same. For Reverend Jo Dudley (Vicar of Christ Church in Laxey) this story took on a whole new significance after she had the chance to actually be in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. But for Pioneer Minister Reverend Alex Brown, walking on the water - taking a leap of faith - is something he tries constantly to do. He tells his fascinating story in today's programme. And there's music too, including more listeners' choices - All My Hope on God is Founded, Jesus Calls Me O'er the Tumult and Oceans by Hillsong Worship. The website address for the new Retreat House opening in late Autumn in Peel is www.retreathouse.im The email address is welcome@retreathouse.im and the phone number for calls and texts is 07624 56 82 90 If you'd like to choose a hymn for the programme, I'd love to hear from you - email me on judithley@manx.net
AT YOUR SERVICE today is full of stories! Liz Babbs - who describes herself as a creative communicator - explains why it's so important for us to take time to stop and think - then invites us to be an active part of a very special story. If you'd like to discover more of Liz's Bible-based meditations, you'll find lots of information on her website - lizbabbs.com Another set of stories takes us to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne through the words and music of singer/songwriter Andrew Lobb, author David Adam (for many years the Vicar of Holy Island) and Ray Simpson (founder of the Retreat House on Holy Island). David Adam wonders what we might learn from the story of The Wild Geese, and shares just one of many stories about Aidan, the first Bishop of Lindisfarne. Alongside the music of Andrew Lobb, there's a setting of Psalm 42 sung and played by Gareth Moore, and Robert Grant's great hymn of praise based on Psalm 104 - O worship the King, all-glorious above - is the choice of Mrs Anne Jones who joins us from Brightlingsea, Essex. There's also a last-minute update on Virtually Beach Mission - Port St Mary Beach Mission with a difference this year! It starts on Monday 3 August - the headquarters is, as always, Mallmore on the Promenade in Port St Mary, and the website with ALL the information for this very different year is psmbm.org.uk Your hymn choices for At Your Service are most welcome - let me know what you'd like to hear - and if you would like me to dedicate it to someone who is listening along with you. The truest form of reconstruction is when your internal trust of God matches your external experiences with God. The Rev. Dr. Lil Smith is a seasoned Spiritual Director and a guide for many who are listening to new expressions of God in their lives. In this episode we talk about how it can be difficult to find that interior trust and how we see the Holy Spirit leading people through deconstruction of our traditional faith paradigms. I think I asked my best question yet and we do play a game along the way. More about Lil Smith: Lil is director and co-founder of Retreat House (www.retreathousecommunity.org), a day retreat and spirituality center in Richardson, TX . She is a trained spiritual director and supervisor. In the role of adjunct faculty, Lil facilitates the supervised practicum classes in the Perkins School of Theology Certification in Spiritual Direction. As a retreat leader, spiritual director and supervisor Lil shares with others her passion for the spiritual life. She is active with the life of Spiritual Ministries Institute, is a member of the Richardson Interfaith Alliance (RIA) and is on the board of Compassionate DFW. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reconstructioncalls/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/reconstructioncalls/support

Mike told us about the Retreat House, a wonderful place in the Essex countryside only a few miles north of Chelmsford. Here you can stay as an individual or on an organised retreat.
A lot of our community was wondering what the heck I was doing in LA for the last few days. So in Episode 14 of House Fur Happy Hour we discuss what a mastermind retreat is and what I gained from attending. I (luckily) was invited to join her year long Mastermind and with that comes the Phoenix Sisterhood Mastermind Retreats. The Phoenix Sisterhood Mastermind Retreat was curated and lead by Jamie and she cultivated a safe space where the creative women in my mastermind could come together to share + receive support for their talents, fears, strengths, weaknesses, struggles, wins, and lingering questions as creative business owners. Jamie’s efforts, hard work, and effort she put into our time together was exceptional! I am so thankful to have the support/guidance from Jamie and the other incredible gals I met IRL this weekend.I cannot wait to fully unleash the full potential of “myself,” grow my business, and reach the business-life balance I truly desire.
