Mexican cartels have diversified their criminal activities beyond drug trafficking to include human smuggling and trafficking. Here's a summary of how they have entered and operate in the human trafficking business:Entry into Human SmugglingDiversification of Criminal Activities: As law enforcement efforts have intensified against drug trafficking, cartels have sought new revenue streams. Human smuggling has become a lucrative alternative.Geographic Advantage: Mexico's location, bordering the United States, provides a strategic advantage for smuggling people seeking to enter the U.S. illegally.Human Trafficking OperationsSmuggling Networks: Cartels have established extensive smuggling networks that span across Central and South America. They often collaborate with local gangs and corrupt officials to facilitate the movement of people.Extortion and Exploitation: Migrants are often subjected to extortion, with cartels charging exorbitant fees for their passage. Many migrants are held in squalid conditions until their families pay ransom.Violence and Coercion: Cartels use violence and threats to control and intimidate migrants. Those who cannot pay or refuse to cooperate are often subjected to brutal treatment or forced into labor or sex trafficking.Corruption: Corrupt law enforcement and border officials play a crucial role in enabling human trafficking operations, allowing smugglers to bypass checkpoints and other security measures.Safe Houses and Transport: Cartels use a network of safe houses to hide migrants as they move northward. "Unveiling MK-Ultra: Joe Rogan's Rare Deep Dive into the CIA's Mind Control Experiments"Prepare to unravel the chilling truths behind one of the CIA's most secretive and controversial programs: MKUltra. In this rare and riveting episode, Joe Rogan and a top-tier investigator peel back the layers of conspiracy, control, and corruption that defined this covert operation. From its origins as "Bluebird" to its evolution into a mind-bending experiment on unwitting citizens, MKUltra sought to engineer assassins, erase memories, and reshape human behavior without consent. Discover how a network of safe houses, rogue scientists like Dr. Louis "Jolly" West, and chilling connections to figures like Charles Manson created a blueprint for psychological manipulation. This episode dives deep into never-before-heard details, including the mysterious Jimmy Shaver case, the controversial Operation Midnight Climax, and how these experiments sought to control minds in ways that remain shocking today. Featuring firsthand insights, hidden correspondence, and investigative discoveries, this podcast challenges what we think we know about MKUltra. Whether you're a history buff, a conspiracy enthusiast, or someone seeking to uncover hidden truths, this is an episode you can't afford to miss. Tune in and join the conversation—this story is far more than a conspiracy; it's a revelation.Origins of MKUltra (00:00–00:39)MKUltra started as "Bluebird" in 1948, became "Artichoke," and eventually evolved into MKUltra in 1952.It was a CIA mind control program aimed at manipulating human behavior without their knowledge. Objectives of MKUltra (00:39–01:18)The program sought to create "hypnoprogrammed assassins," popularly termed "Manchurian candidates," who could commit acts like murder without memory of their programming.Other goals included training couriers to deliver messages with no memory of their missions.Exposure of MKUltra (01:51–02:26)MKUltra's existence came to light through hearings in the 1970s (Rockefeller Commission, Church Hearings).CIA officials Richard Helms and Dr. Sidney Gottlieb destroyed most records in 1973.Safe Houses and Experiments (02:26–03:04)Experiments took place in "safe houses" disguised as brothels or communes, where unsuspecting people were dosed with drugs like LSD.Dr. Louis "Jolly" West, a key researcher, conducted covert experiments.Connections to Charles Manson (03:44–04:46)Dr. West operated in the same area and time as Charles Manson's rise. Documents suggest his methods aligned with MKUltra objectives.Graduate students working for West reported being unaware of the true nature of their research, suspecting a hidden agenda.Operation Midnight Climax (05:59–06:30)A CIA project involving brothel setups where subjects were dosed with LSD and observed without their knowledge.Jimmy Shaver Case (12:42–15:12)A highly controversial incident involving Airman Jimmy Shaver, who murdered a child but claimed no memory of the crime.Dr. West was involved as Shaver's psychiatrist and reportedly manipulated his memories.False Memories and Brainwashing (16:23–17:32)Dr. West claimed to have developed techniques to replace true memories with false ones, a primary MKUltra goal. The CIA officially denied the success of such experiments during hearings, though evidence suggests otherwise.Speculation and Ethical Concerns (17:32–19:20)MKUltra's experiments often went awry, with unintended consequences like Shaver's case. Many records were destroyed, leaving gaps in understanding the full extent of these operations.Legacy and Modern Implications (19:20–20:33)Dr. West and other psychiatrists were involved in deprogramming returning Korean War POWs, raising questions about whether the U.S. manipulated these soldiers. The lack of accountability and transparency continues to fuel speculation about the true scope of MKUltra.

Domestic and family violence has rightly been dubbed ‘Australia's great shame'. Zoe Daniel MP breaks down the crisis with Kathy Kaplan OAM, Founder of IMPACT for Women who shares profound insights and details her incredible work in making a difference for Victorian women and children escaping extreme home violence.IMPACT for Women is a completely volunteer-run charity in Goldstein. Starting as an ova of an idea in March 2006, Kathy and twenty of her friends sourced donations and, in a friend's lounge room, packed 100 hampers which were then delivered to several metropolitan Safe Houses that support domestic violence victims. Last April nearly 500 volunteers packed almost 2000 Bags of Love.To find out more about the work of Impact for Women visit their website www.impactforwomen.org.au. Hosted on Acast. On Oct. 2, a plane of Afghan refugees touched down in Albania after a five-day journey. The group included 120 women—police officers, judges, cyclists and others. It's the second effort coordinated by Israel's largest relief agency, IsraAID, along with Canadian-Israeli businessman Sylvan Adams and a few friendly Arab countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, to rescue Afghan refugees from the Taliban's recent takeover. Today, Adams is flying to Albania to meet with the refugees, who are being kept in a local hotel as they await a decision by the Canadian government over whether or not they can make it onto Canadian soil. And that's become a sticking point in this whole operation: rescuers, including the people at IsraAID, are growing increasingly frustrated at the slow pace of Canadian immigration bureaucracy—which they say is preventing them from saving even more Afghans. Yotam Polizer, the CEO of IsraAID, joins today to discuss his concern with the Canadian government and tell the inside story of how they got this latest group out of the fragile Central Asian country. Marlon Daniel föds i Chicago. Afroamerikanske tonsättaren Gary Powell Nash tonsätter stycket In Memorian till hennes ära. Manus, regi och produktion: Birgitta Tollan.
