It's a brand new edition of our Pod, as hosts T.J. Rives and Mike Gill return off the Thanksgiving weekend holiday to talk about a myriad of subjects this week in sports media. They go overThe Thanksgiving Day NFL games and the TV ratings and more. Plus, is Tom Brady loosening up some for Fox Sports' booth coverage? Also, NBC's Mike Tirico is broadcasting while injured. They explain.Next, retired NFL star turned ESPN analyst Randy Moss revealed live on the "Sunday Countdown" show that he has an illness that is affecting his eyes and vision and has to wear sunglasses due to the bright TV lights. There's discussion about the College Football end of the regular season and heading to championship weekend for all the conferences. Plus, what prominent national media member was advocating that Ohio St. has get rid of coach Ryan Day for repeatedly losing to Michigan, as it's more important that results in the College Football Playoff? Finally, T.J. goes over the lack of coverage in naming the controversial San Jose St. volleyball player, Blaire Fleming, who is a biological male and is being allowed to play women's volleyball. There have been forfeits by Mountain West Conference teams in the regular season and even, last weekend in the tournament semi-final. Yet, ESPN, the Athletic and other news outlets won't say or print the name (that we just wrote) at the center of the controversy. This is, despite Fleming being an adult and on the SJSU website with a bio, named in their game notes, introduced on the P.A. at games and is part of two different massive lawsuits recently for Title IX violations and an attempted injunction by schools to keep the Spartans out of the MWC women's volleyball tourney. It's crazy and it's discussed. It's all part of the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe to this feed on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!

Jim Rutledge and Matt Hamilton are joined by Badgers volleyball play-by-play broadcaster Jon Arias, who slides into co-host in place of maternity-leave Molly. Jim, Matt and Jon begin talking about what they are (or aren't) most thankful for when it comes to the Packers playing on Thanksgiving, asking the fans which Thanksgiving TV time window is the best or worst to watch your team play during? They also discuss the lofty rankings that national media and Packers fans alike are throwing at the team's feet, and they ask fans if they think it's most likely that the Packers finish top-5 in scoring offense, scoring defense or wins? Matt also once again explains why he's actually 2.5 hours ahead of the show while in Canada as well as the delicacy that is cod tongue (apparently...). Vikings fan Jon also discusses why he couldn't stand watching the Vikings vs Bears game on Wisconsin television, and he gives his thoughts on just how important winning the Axe Game versus Minnesota would be for this Badgers football team. Jason Wilde joins Jim Rutledge, Matt Hamilton and Jon Arias two days ahead of the Packers game against the Dolphins on Thanksgiving night. Jim first asks if the Dolphins game will give the Packers defense its best litmus test after two wins against a couple of bad offenses in the Bears and injured 49ers. Also, what other teams left on the schedule are we overlooking as Packers fans? Jon wants to know if Jason feels like Packers fans should be all that impressed by the 38-10 win against San Francisco when the team didn't have Brock Purdy or Nick Bosa. Matt asks if Jason endorses his co-host Tausch's take that the Pack drove a dagger into the 49ers' playoff hears with that win. Also, how is Jason managing his family's Thanksgiving with the Packers night game, and what are his thoughts on the importance of the Badgers keeping the Axe and maintaining their 22-year bowl streak this Friday against Minnesota. They wrap up with Minute to Win It, as Jim and Primetime put Matt and Jon through the ringer with the list of the Big Ten's 17 rivalry trophy names!

Wow! What a crazy busy week we had. LOTS of Thanksgiving stuff as we get ready for the upcoming holiday...including a list of Thanksgiving TV shows & movies to get you ready for next Thursday, a Thanksgiving "Who'd You Rather", and Plus, Brian recapped his recent bus trip to Rochester for some brewery hopping, and we talked about Lori's bunions during the Monday Morning Throwback. There's apparently a "temporary" vasectomy out there, and neither Brian nor Shaw wanted anything to do with it. We talked about the house from "A Christmas Story" being for sale, and like many of you, Jean spent the entire day on the internet on Tuesday, trying to buy tickets for Taylor Swift. The annual report about the cost of Thanksgiving dinner came out this week, and go figure....it's gonna cost more! We also checked out a poll that asked "When do the holidays start?" Also, a new poll about gaining weight during the holidays, and a new list of things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

HR Happy Hour 268 - We Are Grateful Hosts: Steve Boese, Trish McFarlane This week on a special Thanksgiving-themed HR Happy Hour Show, hosts Steve Boese and Trish McFarlane each run down their Top 5 things they are thankful for this year, as well as talk Thanksgiving foods, sports, and travel. 2016 has been a crazy, eventful, and sometimes trying year for many of us, so we thought it would make sense for the Thanksgiving week show to try and focus on the positive - on the people, places, and things that we are thankful for as we head into the holiday this week. We didn't share our 'Top 5' lists prior to recording the show - have a listen and see just how similar Steve and Trish's lists ended up being. Additionally, Steve and Trish talk Thanksgiving foods, NBA basketball, and some great 'Thanksgiving' moments from some famous TV sitcoms. Note: Steve really shows his age with his favorite Thanksgiving TV highlight. This was a really fun show, and we hope you enjoy it and we hope all the HR Happy Hour listeners have a wonderful Thanksgiving. And of course we are thankful for our wonderful show sponsor Virgin Pulse - learn more about them at www.virginpulse.com. Remember to subscribe to the HR Happy Hour Show on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, and all the major podcast apps - just search for 'HR Happy Hour' to subscribe and never miss a show. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
