Time Codes: 00:00:27 - Introduction 00:02:56 - We get mail! 00:08:08 - Everblue 00:34:53 - Handrava 01:07:31 - Warning Label 01:33:36 - Wrap up 01:35:17 - Contact us For the month of March, Sean and Derek discuss three webcomics that are very different in terms of art style and storytelling technique. However, what all three have in common is a focus on relationships. They start off with Michael Sexton's Everblue, a fantastical tale about two young adventurers who want to explore their world while at the same time avoiding the threats that are in pursuit. After that the guys discuss Handrava, a more realistic narrative set in Madagascar's capital city. It's author Rado R. captures the rhythms and flavors of his subject matter through both the dialogue and the visual layout of his scripting. Finally, Derek and Sean turn to a recently completed webcomic, Thom Zahler's Warning Label. As with the creator's previous works -- most notably Love and Capes, Long Distance, and Time and Vine -- the focus is on relationships and its unpredictable contours. This is yet another impressive work from Zahler, and one that will leave you, once again, with a warm and positive feeling.
David and Jason talk to artist and writer Thom Zahler, an independent creator for 15 years in indie comics (Love and Capes, Warning Label), licensed comics (My Little Pony), and animated television (Spider Man: Web Warriors, Knights of the Zodiac), about his journey from art school student to freelancer to full-on free agent, and how his business has grown and changed over the years.
Thomas Zahler's Time and Vine and a Whole Lot More George celebrates our penultimate episode with writer, artist, creator, and all-around good guy, Thomas Zahler. Thom is the creative force behind Love and Capes, Long Distance, Time and Vine, and the ongoing webcomic Warning Label available on Webtoons and www.bit.ly/warninglabel. Time and Vine just wrapped up and the collected edition will be available from IDW Publishing in February 2018, just in time for Valentine's Day. George talks to Thom about the creative process, the research behind Time and Vine, the comic con circuit, and why he lives in the House That Meredith Bought. Plus, how could we have an episode about wine the week of Thanksgiving and not offer some suggestions for the holidays? For all things Thom Zahler, please check out his website www.thomz.com and follow him on Twitter @thomzahler. And don't forget to join us next week for our 200th, and final, episode of The George and Tony Entertainment Show. Happy Thanksgiving!

They begin with Elijah Brubaker's Reich, a twelve-issue biography published by Sparkplug Comics and distributed through Alternative Comics. The series reveals the life of Wilhelm Reich, the Austrian-American psychoanalyst known for his influential work in character analysis, his advocacy of orgastic potency, and, more controversially, his theories surrounding orgonomy. After that they discuss The American Way: Those Above and Those Below #1 (Vertigo Comics). Written by John Ridley with art by George Jeanty, this is a sequel to their eight-issue Wildstorm series that came out in 2008. Then Andy and Derek wrap things up with Time and Vine #1 (IDW Publishing), Thom Zahler's followup to his 2015 miniseries Long Distance. The guys note that this latest title bears all the markings of Zahler's previous work, including Love and Capes: engaging art, impressive dialogue, and nuanced character interaction that is both romantic and witty.

On this episode of AGP we sit down with comic creator Thom Zahler. Thom Zahler is a northeast Ohio-based comic book artist and writer. He's particularly known for his romantic comedy comics. In 2006, he debuted Love and Capes, the superhero romantic comedy about the adventures in love of an ordinary bookstore owner and her accountant boyfriend who also happens to be the superhero The Crusader. And then in 2014 he introduced readers to Long Distance, a story about two young professionals who meet while stranded at an airport during a snowstorm and decide to date even though they both live in different states. He is also a frequent writer and artist for IDW's successful My Little Pony comics. Most recently, he brought Flutterbat back in comic book form. He has more stories coming up in 2016, as well. Zahler has written for the Disney XD cartoon, Spider-Man Web Warriors, where he wrote the first part of the season finale Contest of Champions. He is also a frequent contributor to the Topps Star Wars card sets. He continues to work as a cartoonist, illustrator and letterer for many companies across the country. Love and Capes is also available online at http://www.loveandcapes.com. See more of Zahler's artwork at www.thomz.com. He also keeps a weblog at http://www.thomz.com/wordpress.
Another superhero anniversary is upon us, as Green Arrow turns 75 this year! So we're looking back at the long crazy history of our favorite comic book archer (sorry, Hawkeye). We recall how Green Arrow totally ripped off Batman (Arrow Car, Arrow Cave, kid sidekick...), his Justice League induction (because Superman and Wonder Woman would be helpless without a bow & arrow dude), his one true love (Black Canary, of course), his 1970s Mego doll (good luck not losing that tiny bow), and most importantly, his weird little goatee. Green Arrow made just one TV appearance during his first sixty years; apparently he was just an adequate friend, because the Super Friends never invited him back. But in recent years, he has popped up in multiple cartoons, as well as Smallville, and of course, his current hit TV series Arrow. (They dropped the "Green" for the show's title, probably to get an earlier listing in the phone book.) But Green Arrow isn't the only comic book subject in this week's show, as we also look at Long Distance, a romantic comedy (in graphic novel format) by Thom Zahler. And in honor of National Piercing Day, we recall how a quarter century ago, we were all freaked out by Jane Child. Plus: Kevin and Kornflake reveal their own archery experience (or lack thereof), and design their own trick arrows. (You know you want a rubber chicken arrow.)

Through snow, through sleet, through hail, love prevails. Appropriately, Thomas Zahler, creator of the superb superhero situation comedy comic book Love and Capes, is our guest, as we chat about love, relationships, and Superman. Also, 3rd Chair Smithy is back to spread sunshine in our lives. We talk about Kick-Ass, shameless self-promotion, power ballads, and sex in Mass Effect 2. It’s a jumble of goodness, as War Rocket Ajax returns.
