An emotionally charged evening is in store at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday when Luton Town head back to take on AFC Bournemouth in the rearranged game which was suspended the first time around after the cardiac arrest suffered by Tom Lockyer. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to a huge match for the Hatters but also reflect on the trickiness of the encounter both in terms of the opposition and the psychological impact. As ever on a preview podcast, the boys pick out three threats within the opposition before taking a guess, and in light of the lengthy injury list it is a huge guess, at how the Town might line up for the game. The attention then centres on the best ways Rob Edwards' men can go about getting the win and who the key players in the game might be from a Luton standpoint. We finish with the score predictions and plenty of homage and respect to our opponents off the pitch for the wonderful way they have conducted themselves over the last three months. WOW! Luton Town came out on top on what was a memorable evening of magical football under the Kenilworth Road lights when a inspired displayed by Elijah Adebayo carried the Hatters to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on a night no Luton fan will forget as the Town battered Brighton in ruthless fashion. Listen to the boys discuss the emotional scenes before the match when Tom Lockyer did a lap of honour and that incredible start which saw the Hatters 2-0 up before Brighton had kicked the ball in the Luton half. The chaps then reflect on the remainder of the incredible evening of football and go on to cover how the formation change that was discussed in the preview episode paid dividends.  We hear interviews with the hero of the night, Elijah Adebayo, and the man who masterminded the victory, as Kev starts the debate: “When do we start talking about Rob Edwards being Luton's greatest ever manager?” The podcast concludes with a look at our new signing, Japanese international Daiki Hashioka, and, away from football, some big news for town of Luton as a whole. Newcastle United head to Kenilworth Road for the first time in 29 years on Saturday afternoon and Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to preview what is set to be an emotional day. The boys begin the podcast by sending their best wishes to Tom Lockyer and Glen Rea before congratulating the Luton Ladies side on their recent FA Cup win to set up a high profile clash against WSL side Brighton in the next round. A look back at the last time the Magpies played at Kenilworth Road follows from there. When the attention turns to Saturday, James refuses to separate football from the sportswashing efforts of Newcastle's owners. But we still manage to pick out three dangers in the opposing side that are beset by injuries. The focus then goes onto the Town, who will obviously be forced into one change to their starting XI. Replacements for Lockyer are discussed as well as any other switches Rob Edwards could make to his team. The boys then look at who in the opposition can be targeted and the potential key performers over the course of the afternoon before finishing with their score predictions. All this and a lot more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

This week we have a Christmas cracker for you! Our guest is Sam Wallis-Robinson, the Chair of Reading Abbey Rugby Club. Sam talks to us about how she got involved with the club, and the challenges that face the community game-along with some of the fantastic steps Reading Abbey are taking to keep existing members and gain new members in both the men's and women's sections. In football we discuss the worrying collapse of Luton captain Tom Lockyer, with suspected cardiac arrest. We are happy to report that he is out of hospital and starting rehab. We examine the need for more women's test cricket after the 347 run defeat for England in Mumbai, whilst the men's T20 team had a win to keep their series against the West Indies alive. In Rugby we have a roundup of the European Cup games at the weekend, as well as the news that Eddie Jones is back in coaching after being named as head coach of the Japan team. In Winter Sports there were World Cup medals and series wins for GB athletes in skiing, snowboarding, para-skiing and skeleton bob. We have the latest from the There She Rows team in their Atlantic rowing challenge, whilst we set a challenge for listeners to join up with DoddieAid.com to get fit in January and raise funds for fighting MND. And after the BBC has axed former favourite show, A Question of Sport, two angry license fee payers tell them to get a grip! We wish all of our listeners a very Happy Christmas and we will be back with you all in early January 2024!

This weekend saw the top of the table shift and constrict slightly. With Liverpool and United playing out a nil-nil draw at Anfield, Arsenal's victory over Brighton saw the Gunners go top. Villa, City, and Spurs all won their matches and kept pace with the new first place team. A full on five team title race is on at Christmas and this is the most competitive Premier League season in a few years. At this point, we could see any of these teams win the title and not be surprised. Tragedy struck at Bournemouth for the Luton Town team as their club captain suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch; Tom Lockyer is recovering from the incident. The Hatters were on the end of a bruising 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brentford last Saturday, as the team's injury woes continue with the losses of Tom Lockyer and Teden Mengi at the Gtech Community Stadium. A promising first-half performance, limiting the Bees to almost zero chances, gave the Town some hope, but three sloppy goals handed three points to Brentford. There's no time for Luton to lick their wounds however, as the midweek visit of table-topping Arsenal are the club's next test. #lutontown #LTFC #COYH #PremierLeague #afcb #afc #avfc #brentford #bhafc #burnley #chelseafc #cpfc #everton #ffc #lfc #mcfc #mufc #newcastle #nffc #sufc #spurs #whufc #wwfc #BRELUT #Bees #LUTARS #Arsenal #ArsenalFC Hosted on Acast. Luton defender and former Rovers player Tom Lockyer scored one and made one for the Hatters as City fell to their 5th defeat in 7 matches and the continuation of their atrocious away form that has yielded one point from a possible 21. City were in quite sparkling form for the first 40 minutes before Luton took the lead but a fine strike by Weimann for his 14th of the season put them level midway through the second half. What proved to be the winner for Luton was another sloppy goal to concede but City had enough chances to take the point they deserved on the balance of play.
