Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, the Disney Treasure, is making waves with its IP-packed premium entertainment, like the Haunted Mansion Parlor, Tale of Moana, and Plaza de Coco dinner show. In essence, Disney is moving portions of the theme park experience onto their cruise ships, using a highly curated and controlled environment to deliver guest experiences that are no longer possible within the theme parks. Meanwhile, United Parks is taking the opposite approach by outsourcing elements of its food operations to C3, bringing recognizable brands like Umami Burger to their parks. SBE Hospitality Group and virtual brand platform C3's founder and CEO Sam Nazarian has acquired Nextbite, just days after Nation's Restaurant News reported that Nextbite's order management arm, Ordermark, had been sold off to Indian software company UrbanPiper. Nextbite and its virtual brands —which includes both original and licensed brands such as Packed Bowls by Wiz Khalifa, Shawarmama, Nestle Toll House Cookies, IHOP, Super Mega Dilla, Thrilled Cheese, Fuku, George Lopez Tacos, and Nathan's Famous — will live on under the ownership of its former competitor as Nextbite by SBE, but will operate separately from C3's own virtual brands, which include Umami Burger, Krispy Rice, and Sam's Crispy Chicken.Leadership will pass from CEO Alex Canter — who founded Nextbite in 2020 after merging the then-flourishing virtual restaurant company with technology platform Ordermark — to Nazarian, and operations will be relocated to C3's headquarters in Miami. According to Food on Demand, a “suite” of former Nextbite executives will stay on board with the company under new ownership.

Fast casual must diversify in order to stay afloat after the delivery bubble bursts, according to Sam Nazarian, CEO of C3, the company behind Umami Burger, Krispy Rice and Sam’s Crispy Chicken. During Covid, Sam’s virtual restaurant company – a subsidiary of sbe – jumped from $20 billion to $40 billion in online sales. Food is serious business. Now, on The Main Course, host Barbara Castiglia will invite insiders on the front lines of food to share their expertise, strategies, and forecasts for navigating the ever-changing restaurant industry. While The Main Course loves to talk about food, there's another part of the menu that restaurants and consumers are seeing evolve too—beverages. While the beverage industry has seen growth and diversity in the grocery store, restaurants haven't had as many options. To talk about a better for you line of drinks, host Barbara Castiglia chatted with Luke Emery, CEO of Tractor Beverage Co.Tractor, launched in 2018 by organic farmers, offers artificial-free, certified organic, and non-GMO sodas and drinks. Emery explained the origin story. “The founder Travis saw family members get sick and looked at the food supply with artificial flavors and chemicals. He wanted to make an impact on the world and partnered with restaurants and foodservice partners aligned with the mission of better for your ingredients.”Emery also has a personal connection to the Tractor mission. He was a veteran of the traditional beverage industry. Just as he was beginning with the company, his son became ill. “I had conversations with Travis about food is medicine. We changed what goes into his body, and he's now in remission,” he shared. The company wants to inspire people to live healthier with organic for all without giving up flavor. Emery shared about the creation process. “We're seeing the trends toward more functional ingredients like turmeric in our lemonade. Our drinks are made to pair with the food of our pouring partners and elevate the dining experience,” he said.In addition to delivering a high-quality product, one that consumers can find at Chipotle, Pokeworks, Umami Burger, and more, they also help partners develop a strong beverage program. “Restaurant margins are thin, especially now. A strong beverage program can help. With our self-fill bottle program, we ship in concentrate. Restaurants add the water, saving costs on freight,” Emery noted.Emery feels good about the future of dining and that consumers will continue to care more about what they put in their bodies. “They deserve better, and that's what Tractor and our partners are delivering,” he added.A New Episode is Served Up Every Tuesday and Thursday!

http://annettbone.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Artist-1.png () Session Summary: 28 EXPLOSIVE DANCE FILMS, THEATER & ROOFTOP SCREENINGS, Q&A, HOLLYWOOD, GLOBAL BEATS by GINGEE, COCKTAILS, UMAMI BURGER, AWARDS, MIXER--If you saw this description for an event, you'd want to attend, right? I enjoyed my time at The Divulge Dancers Film Festival in November 2018 which inspired 5 essential elements to empower as an artist. http://annettbone.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Divulge-2-11.17.2018-2.jpg () Empower the element of your communication skills. One thing is to work on is enunciation. I had a hard time understanding one of the dancers on Get Lite. Empower the element of possibility thinking. Put the law of attraction into play. One of the dancers did this in Get Lite because he said he was going to Paris and London to teach and it happened. Get the creativity going toward the results you want and not what you don't want. Empower adversity into an advantage. Mother's Balls featured Amber's adversity of a strict background which forced her to be creative. Empower inclusivity in dance and other art forms. Making Waves with the Down's Syndrome dancers was very heartwarming. I am also reminded of other companies that are inclusive such as Axis, Heidi Latsky, Infinite Flow and Leigh Purtill Ballet Company. Empower Other's Skill Set. I love getting around other people that are more advanced in their skill sets than I am. A great example of someone who always empowered others to be better was Gene Kelly. http://annettbone.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Divulge-2-11.17.2018-145.jpg () Links/Info from this session:http://annettbone.com (Get my FREE Audio Resource) https://www.divulgedancersfilmfestival.com/?lightbox=dataItem-jm5ogz3w (Divulge Dancers Film Festival ) http://www.axisdance.org (Axis Dance Company) http://www.heidilatskydance.org (Heidi Latsky ) http://infiniteflowdance.org (Infinite Flow Dance) http://www.leighpurtillballet.com (Leigh Purtill Ballet Company) http://annettbone.com/067 (Interview with Marisa Hamamoto) http://annettbone.com/110 (Interview with Ally Vega) http://annettbone.com/185/ (Interview with Patricia Ward Kelly) http://heididuckler.org (Heidi Duckler) Would you review The DancePreneuring Studio?I would be extremely appreciative if you would subscribe and leave your feedback on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher Radio. LA native Max Swanson bounced around some of LA's trendiest concepts, including Asian fusion Take a Bow and Umami Burger, finally landing at the popular Kismet in Los Feliz. He also briefly worked at a Starbucks in Santa Monica, where customers would line up out the door at 5am. We discuss why you can't bullshit a coffee drink, the restaurant lesson of humility, and his pursuits in filmmaking. Enjoy!
On this episode of #SoLA, Camille and Charlie are joined by second-time guest, Eater LA’s Farley Elliott, talking about LA’s favorite food: the burger! Cheeseburgers, chili burgers, ramen burgers and… chicken burgers? They discuss it all. Important questions like: which is the best In and Out, the rise and fall of Umami Burger, the tragedy of seafood restaurants having great burgers and is the patty melt a burger?!? Unimportant questions like which LA burger is which Beatle? Will Farley get it right? Tune in for all this and more, just don’t cross David Chang. He’s got a sniper aimed at your head. And for those interested in where to eat LA’s best burgers, and much more, some of the restaurants discussed on this episode are Chang’s Majordomo, Hawkins Burgers in Watts, Yuca’s on Hillhurst, Otoño in Highland Park, The Mad Greek in Baker, Lucky Boy in Pasadena, Malibu Seafood, Cassell’s patty melt, Spago, Here’s Looking At You, Burgers Never Say Die, Father’s Office, Apple Pan, Pie N Burger, Petit Trois’s Big Mec burger, Shake Shack, Bill’s Burgers in Van Nuys, Mitla Café and a little restaurant called The Cheesecake Factory.
Tweet LIVE this Sunday, August 12th at 635pm Small Bites with Glenn Gross and Derek Timm of Bluejeanfood.com on Wildfire Radio, sitting in with Glenn as special Co-host this week is John Cohl the Editor in Chief for Mobile Food News, Philly Mobile Food Association Ambassador that Rob Mitchell is President of, and John is partner with Corner Pub Kitchen's Ron Sullivan. They're going to have a smoking good time welcoming on the show Tuffy Stone to talk about his new cookbook Cool Smoke: The Art of Great Barbecue from St. Martin's Press. For backyard barbecuers who are interested in taking on the competition circuit, Cool Smoke offers tips and tricks from one of the best in the business. Stone's competition secrets―gleaned from more than a decade of success on the circuit―have never before been shared beyond the walls of his cook school in Richmond, Virginia. Cool Smoke gives an insider's look behind the scenes and offers advice on creating perfect competition turn-ins that have made Tuffy Stone a World Champion five times over. With mouthwatering recipes, over 200 hundred color photos, essential guides to cookers and equipment, and expert advice, Tuffy Stone's Cool Smoke is the definitive guide to all things barbecue. Why is this book so great? Because Tuffy Stone is a World Record-breaking champion pitmaster, a former Marine, a classically-trained chef, an acclaimed caterer, and an occasional reality television star. Dubbed “The Professor,” Tuffy's legendary precision and obsession with the science of smoke make him one of the most influential people in barbecue. In the 13 years since he founded Cool Smoke Barbecue, the team has won hundreds of trophies including more than 40 Grand Championships and five World Grand Championships. Cool Smoke is the only team in history to have won the prestigious Jack Daniel's World Championship Barbecue Invitational back to back and the only team to have won it three times, doing so in 2013, 2015, and 2016. As a result of his success on the competition circuit and his extensive knowledge of all things barbecue, he was selected to join Destination America's show BBQ Pitmasters, in 2012. Tuffy's life is barbecue has taken him all over the world including cooking for the troops in Kuwait, and heading to Meatstock in Australia to teach his famous Cool Smoke Barbecue Class. Most recently he cooked for sold out crowds at the James Beard Foundation House, a rarity for a barbecue pitmaster. Then joining them will be Adam Fleischman the author of Flavor Bombs: The Umami Ingredients That Make Taste Explode from Rux Martin Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. ADAM FLEISCHMAN is the creative force behind Umami Burger and 800degreesme Neopolitan Pizza, restaurants with more than 40 locations in California, Chicago, Las Vegas, Dubai, and Japan. He has been profiled in The New Yorker, the New York Times, Wired, and the The Wall Street Journal. The founder of the national empires Umami Burger and 800 Degrees Pizza shows how to detonate flavor in beloved dishes using ordinary ingredients high in umami. Why does everyone love burgers and pizza? When Adam Fleischman investigated, he discovered what they—and many other ultra-flavorful dishes—have in common: umami. A renegade self-taught cook, Fleischman deployed this savory “fifth dimension of taste” to ratchet up flavor using ingredients naturally rich in umami, such as Parmesan, tomatoes, caramelized onions, and anchovy paste. In so doing, he created ultimate versions of icons, including Umami Burger with Port and Stilton, Sweet and Savory Brisket, and Parmesan Fondue. All the recipes are made from the same “umami pantry” ably explicated in the front of the book. This sounds delicious. Talking more about flavors in studio will be Micheal Van Houten the owner of Bottled Thyme. The artisanal craft of sauce making can be dated as far back as the beginnings of the Roman empire. Many historians believe that sauces were originally meant to cover up the debatable freshness and quality of the food being served. The good news for us is we live in a time where sauces are a delicate accompaniment, meant to enhance the entire meal. Bottled Thyme is built on the philosophy that the family unit is one of the most important parts of life, and helps bring balance to an otherwise hectic schedule. One of the most influential times of the day for families is the tradition of sitting around the table, enjoying a nice meal while sharing stories of what the day was like for everyone. What once required an afternoon of preparing and cooking is no longer necessary. Bottled Thyme aims to provide you with the same flavorful and delicious meal, all while not having to sacrifice your time. Their culinarians hand craft each sauce with the same love and devotion as they would if they were cooking for their own families. The passion, mixed with the highest quality of ingredients conveyed into each sauce leaves our customers excited for more after each bite. Small Bites Radio correspondent Actor John DiRenzo is out and about with his valuable insight and experience in the culinary world so be sure to catch him on QVC selling the high quality Copper Chef products. You say you STILL NEED MORE!!! Don't forget we still have our regular weekly segments from Courier-Post nightlife correspondent and The New York Times recognized John Howard-Fusco for his news of the week and please remember that John's book “A Culinary History of Cape May: Salt Oysters, Beach Plums & Cabernet Franc” from Arcadia Publishing The History Press is now available to buy and Chef Barbie Marshall who is a Chef Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen Season 10 finalist and appeared on Season 17 of FOX Hell's Kitchen #AllStars, and Chef Barbie was named Pennsylvania's most influential chef by Cooking Light will delight us with her tip of the week. Monday Munchies Episode 016: Welcome to Monday Munchies. On these episodes you will be sitting shotgun on my adventures of exploring restaurants in the past few weeks.
