Today, Dr Emily talks about hope. And in a world where things can feel a little bit hopeless, this really couldn’t have come at a better time. In contrast to all of our understanding up until this point, hope is not an emotion. Expertly defined by Dr Emily, hope is a belief. And most significantly, it can be learned, and it can be cultivated. Psychological mic-drop. This episode delves into strategies for creating both a sense of collective and individual hope, and in a discovery which happens to be VERY on-brand for this podcast, Dr Emily talks to the significance of vulnerability and connection in living a hopeful life. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did. If you would like to watch this full episode on YouTube, follow this link - https://bit.ly/41j0pT1

A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that comes true because someone believes or expects it to come true. This concept is very alive and well in trading. I actually refer to it quite often and it's not always in a negative way. It has its place in certain situations, although it has a very “soft” use. It sort of gets into the concept of subjective versus objective. A few Podcasts back I talked about the difference between subjective and objective when it comes to trading in general, but this is specifically regarding what we look at for price action. What's wrong with how we view race? Well, on both sides of the partisan divide, how we view race can perpetuate racism. Totally embracing race ("Race is an important part of who you are") comes with serious consequences for people of color, and so does totally rejecting race ("Let's just not see color").Full-transparency: no matter which side you're on, my hope is that you'll gain a better understanding of its potential weaknesses. If you think your approach to antiracism is flawless, I want you to think again. Today on SelfWork we're going to focus on self-sabotage – when you are doing things or not doing things that seem to get in the way of achieving something or creating the life you say you want. I want to talk more about the fear that's underneath self-sabotage. Because one way of looking at sabotage is that it's not sabotage at all. It's really one part of you – the part that's afraid – protecting that fear or avoiding it. So, what can seem as if you're “getting in your own way” can actually be your mind working to keep you safe from a fear that you may be conscious of, or not conscious of at all. Let's focus on a quartet of players in the self-sabotage realm: procrastination, perfectionism, a negative self-fulfilling prophecy, and of course, imposter syndrome. And as always, we'll talk about... what you can do about it. The Speakpipe voicemail for today is from a woman who's realized that, in order to have a sense of control, that she not only lives out her plans for today, but tries to complete things early – things she might have a plan to do tomorrow – she does today. And yet as she says, “That's not how time works." Loved her comment and wanted to share. Vital Links: Have you been putting off getting help in 2023? ”Live up to your potential.” How many of us feel we could be more but fail to live up to our potential? You have the potential to have anything you want in life. If you don't have it, it's not because you're not good enough, or smart enough, it's because it's not in your subconscious identity.
