Have you ever wondered what would happen if you unplugged from your life and did a hard reset? My guest did just that and shares how it changed her trajectory and led to a beautiful new chapter.I'm thrilled to have Kristin Wollam on the show. Kristin began her career as a music supervisor in Los Angeles working on feature films such as “The Blind Side”, “Sex and The City 2”, and Tom Fords' “A Single Man”. With time, she took her talents to the boutique music publishing company, Heavy Hitters Music. As an integral member of the team, she discovered, signed, and shaped artists for music placements in film and TV. She worked alongside major television networks, editors, and producers to create music that fit to specified project needs. In the spring of 2013, Kristin returned to her music supervision roots, becoming a Daytime Emmy Award-nominated music supervisor for her 4+ years of work overseeing the music department for the daytime talk show, The Talk, at leading broadcasting network, CBS. In 2015, Kristin also cultivated and began teaching the Music Supervision in Film & TV course at Belmont University's west coast location.Since leaving Los Angeles in 2017, Kristin has found a new home in Chicago and a new passion in financial planning for individuals, families, and small business-owners. While focusing on entertainment industry strategies and socially responsible investment planning at Morgan Stanley. Kristin continues to help people across the country grow and protect their wealth to fund future goals, while also giving back to the entertainment community as a songwriting mentor to 1000+ songwriters.Connect with Kiristin:Website- www.morganstanley.com/kristin.wollamEmail-kristin.wollam@morganstanley.comKristin's "Masterclass" Guinness Mac and Cheese recipe- let us know when you try it!IngredientsMacaroni and cheese:1 pound elbow macaroni2 tablespoons of butter*, see note2 tablespoons flour*, see note⅔ cup Guinness or other stout1 ½ cups 2% milk½ cup half and half½ teaspoon salt¼ teaspoon ground black pepper1 tablespoon Dijon mustard2 ounces cream cheese, cut into pieces3 ½ cups shredded cheddar (or another good melting cheese), divided SEE NOTETopping (optional):1½ tablespoons butter2 teaspoons finely minced garlic½ cup panko breadcrumbssalt/pepper to taste2 teaspoons minced fresh parsleyInstructionsTopping (if using):In a medium skillet over medium-low heat, melt butter. Add garlic and breadcrumbs and cook, stirring frequently, until the breadcrumbs are lightly toasted, and the mixture is fragrant. Remove from the heat, add salt and pepper to taste and minced parsley. Set aside.Macaroni and cheese:Boil elbow macaroni in well salted water and cook until just al dente. Before draining the pasta, reserve a cup of the pasta water and set it aside (see note). While the pasta is cooking, prepare the cheese sauce:In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sprinkle in flour. Whisk together for a minute. While whisking, pour in Guinness, milk, half and half, salt, pepper, and mustard. Bring it to a simmer and cook, whisking frequently, until it thickens slightly (several minutes). Add cream cheese and 2½ cups grated cheese and stir/whisk until completely smooth. Add drained, cooked pasta and stir to combine. Add the remaining 1 cup grated cheddar and stir until melted (this will help achieve a stringy/cheese-pull texture). I like to let this mixture sit over low heat for a few minutes, stirring frequently, so that the pasta can soak up some of the cheese. To serve: Transfer to a serving bLove This Episode ? Happy Fourth of July , Friends! Can you believe we're already halfway through the year? Yikes! Maybe it's because I spent the early part of my career filming back-to-back Christmas movies in July (hello, Hallmark Channel days!), but I like to think of this mid-way point as "New Year's Part Deux". It's the perfect time for celebrating our independence, chilling with the family, soaking in the summer vibes... and also, taking a beat to reflect. In today's 4th of July mini-episode of the Hollywood Second Act Club Podcast we talk about taking a mid-year pause- and being intentional with the rest of the year. I also share plans for future 'shorty' coaching episodes to help overcome common mindset challenges, such as imposter syndrome and self-doubt, that can often trip folks up on the path to starting something .
