ABOUT THIS EPISODE – “Where's Laura gone?” Did you have children in your 30s and soon they're all at school and before you know it you are very much involved with the fundraising, perhaps even become the chair of the PTA organising everybody as well as running around going to music lessons and sport, gymnastics? Laura did because she wanted to be present for her children. But by her mid 40s she noticed ‘Where's Laura gone?” She realised she was “losing Laura”. ABOUT THIS EPISODE – Even as a small child Caroline was fearful. This living with fear culminated with her body saying ‘NO' and she ended up collapsing and spending time in hospital. “finally, I collapsed. I just literally collapsed in the carpark at work, and was ambulance off and spent two days in hospital. And again, they could not find anything because it was all emotion “ “everyone has a different rock bottom. Mine was particularly deep. It's that moment when you recognise, if I carry on doing what I'm doing, I'm going to carry on feeling this way. In this episode my guest Liz Hood and I talk about how we have navigated our way through grief. What we both have in common is that wearing our ‘colours' made us feel more confident at a time when our confidence had diminished into ‘the fog' of grief. How many times have you said yes to someone or something when really you should have said no? Having the confidence to say NO can be hard but when you unlock your hidden confidence and start to say no you begin to realise you are actually saying YES to so many possibilities. In this episode I touch upon my own experience of saying yes when really I wanted to say no. I hope that you will take comfort and inspiration and look deep within yourself to say yes and no with true confidence and no guilt! ABOUT THIS EPISODE – Deep in frustration have you ever questioned yourself and said ‘what's wrong with me?' You feel you should be able to do something but for some reason you just can't seem to see it or get it right. I feel this about spelling. I try so hard, check what I have written many times but I just don't see simple errors or sometimes the spelling is so bad the spell check on the computer can't even make a suggestion! This really knocks my confidence and as a result I try and avoid anything that involves writing. In this episode, my guest, Niki McGlynn who has been working with neurodevelopment and primitive reflexes for nearly 10 years, casts a shining light on why many of us have these issues and more importantly explains how we can overcome them.   Niki's daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia are 13 and Nikki herself was diagnosed at 40. Niki wanted to find something that would specifically help her daughter so that she had a better experience of school than she had. Now, after finding neurodevelopment movement programmes, which gently integrate primitive reflexes, and build new neural connections in the brain to improve focus and concentration, behaviour and organisation, Nikki really feels that she has found that gem that's going to help you today, tomorrow and improve your life.   In this episode Niki explains what primitive reflexes are, how, for many children they translate in school to an educational need such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or dyscalculia. ABOUT THIS EPISODE – Amanda Harris has been visually impaired since birth. During her childhood, adults focused on what she couldn't do rather than what she could. At 17, she was receiving benefits as unemployable. However, something changed! Having gained her law degree, been a successful HR manager, she now runs her successful Will Writing business. She also speaks to groups and organisations on raising the awareness of the social model of disability. Her memoirs, She Will Never, the book, is due to be published later this year. In this episode we explore being visually impaired, the different levels of visual impairment and how any disability that you may have doesn't have to hold you back. ABOUT THIS EPISODE – Have you ever felt overlooked at work? Left wondering why you are not getting ahead? A feeling of being invisible? As if they just don't notice you and yet your work is first class, your sharp, focused, you smash your targets and your highly capable? This is exactly how Harry felt in her role as an HR Executive. It all came to a head at a review with her line manager. In this episode, Harry describes the moment when, even after 9 months  her line manager said “I don't know who you are” . This completely stopped her in her tracks. Her line manager went on to explain that the smart, sharp looking exterior didn't always match with the kindness and  empathy for people that Harry showed. She “couldn't see the congruence, she could not see the outside match the inside and that impacted her trust.” Harry felt “like I had been kicked in the stomach. I'd spent so long perfecting this external image” Tune into this episode to hear first hand how Harry turned this situation around, how she was able to get that ‘congruence' from discovering how to dress to reflect her personality and the confidence that brought her. So perhaps seek that disruption or a disrupter very much like ourselves that is going to enable you to find the courage to embrace yourself be you be the whole you. And it does take a level of courage and sometimes it does take a bit of disruption to help us go on our way” Harry describes her story with humour, vulnerability and empathy. It's a story rich in inspiration that others can take hope from. It's not just a story about discovering your colour and style, it's a story about a little girl called Hardeep who walked into a classroom and realised she was not the same as everyone else and adopted a persona ‘Harry'. This persona served her well, it helped her survive until that crunch meeting with her line manager when it “got in the way”. Harry describes the reality of discovering her personal style as a ‘shock'! “A shock because that revealed my femininity. I was analysed as being a Romantic Classic. So, the classic I got, yes, this need for structure order, things to match and guidelines and rules and all of that, but the Romantic I  was rejecting. I'm not a hearts and flowers girl, but it's when that combination comes together, you realise that there is still that nurturing side and you still have to communicate that to the world.” “I realised that I was rejecting and trying to suppress this side of me and I absolutely needed to adopt it because it leaks out of every hand gesture, it leaks out of every inflection in your voice, it leaks out of every bit of unspoken elements of what you convey. So people are receiving this message and yet you're looking like something else, the brain is going, I don't get this and the minute the brain thinks I don't know what this is -  they don't trust you!” Harry now runs a very successful Independent Personal Branding Image Consultancy in the North of England bringing her life experience to all that she works with. Discovering her colour and style most definitely empowered Harry and gave her the confidence to run her own business. “Your confidence isn't always knowing what you're doing. It's not always having absolute knowledge of something. True Confidence is saying, You know what? I'm going to find out, and I'm going to do it as well as I possibly can. Are you ready for me? I love this quote! It's a great example of a ‘Believe To Achieve' attitude! I hope you enjoy this episode as much as Harry and I loved creating it. ABOUT THIS EPISODE – At work, do you ever think to yourself  “Can I really do this? Are people actually really going to listen to me?” These are the niggling self doubt questions, that even after a few years in the job as a fully qualified  financial adviser, Beth Beemer could not get out of her mind. Where do these self doubts originate? The threat of redundancy is hard for anyone but when your 7 months pregnant and just about to go on maternity leave, it's a worry you can most certainly can do without! It's a real life worry that Beth Beemer could not avoid and had to face. She faced it by returning to work after the birth of her son far too early thinking she might have some control over the situation. In reality, there is little or no control. In these situations, the decisions have nearly always  been taken and a chain reaction of events in a timely manner takes place. The feeling of not being in control often leaves people feeling helpless, with no direction; it's a knock back which is hard to overcome. Digging deep and ‘building from the ground up' is resourceful, it's admirable. The desire to once again be ‘in control' is a huge motivator but can we ever truly get over that huge knock of confidence. In this episode, Beth Beemer Dip PFS, reflects upon her threat of redundancy, the impact it had upon her life with a small baby and describes how she picked herself up, dusted herself down and retrained. Was this enough though to squash the feelings of self doubt that had firmly taken root in her mind? Tune in and hear how Beth has regained her confidence, how she now feels fully ‘present' for every meeting and how colour has empowered her! 18 months ago, Beth had never heard of Colour Analysis. She hated shopping, was totally uninterested and lived a life of black and white clothing. Before Colour Analysis “I would not buy anything unless somebody was with me and made me do it because I would be so unsure. Does this suit me? Does this suit me? I don't know that I would actually buy anything. Everything was black and white because I kept thinking can you go wrong with black and white, black suit white shirts for work. I hated shopping. I would have to have somebody with me who would lose their temper and say ‘for goodness sake, just buy it, just get something, we're done with walking around and around,  I hated it!” 4 months after Colour Analysis, being analysed as having a warm skin tone and suiting the colours of Spring, she now has a wardrobe of colour that lights up her face, reflects her personality and allows her to show up in a professional setting with no feelings of self doubt. In fact she feels she is able to do her job even better because of the way she now dress for the audience she is seeing. “I do have slightly different outfits I wear depending on the clients I'm seeing. I dress very differently for the older generation than the younger generation, who I can be slightly more informal with.” “There are still the older gentlemen who expect their financial advisor to wear a suit and you've sort of got to meet their expectations to some degree to get them to take you seriously. I need them to listen to me. It can be hard enough when they see they've got a female advising them without them worrying about me not being dressed in what they consider to be professional.” Trust is vital when dealing with clients financial affairs. Trust is also vital when finding the right person to help you personally and professionally evolve to become more confident. “I've had you there to guide me so I came to you and said I was really struggling to find a suit that wasn't black. Next thing I know you've sent me the links for exactly what I need in grey. So that's a good thing. You haven't just helped me on the day I came to see you since then I as you say I've been sending you pictures of things Is this right? Is that wrong? You've sent me links and things that you've come across and this is right for you get this right, just our ongoing support as well.
