Send us a textWhat if your family could be defined not just by blood, but by the connections you choose to nurture? On the Lemon Balm Coaching Podcast, we explore the idea of family as a dynamic and evolving tapestry, particularly for women over 40 who may feel life's transitions keenly. Sharing my personal journey with both biological and adopted children, I illuminate how brain chemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin fundamentally shape our emotional ties. Let's consider how children select role models and the transformative power of self-discovery to redefine family bonds at any point in life. When the nest empties and the echoes of our children's laughter fade from our homes, it can feel like part of our identity is slipping away. The challenge, then, is to cultivate intentional connections that anchor us. Drawing on wisdom from my Aunt Kathy, I highlight the vital role of friendships, particularly with other women, in building a resilient support network. Through engaging stories and actionable advice, I encourage you to foster relationships that extend beyond your parental roles, ensuring you have a strong community to navigate life's inevitable changes.

To kick off Season 3 of MID we are bringing you a conversation that Holly says kind of changed her life. We think it will change yours, too. Inspired by her book - and it's really a very good book - We Are The Stars - we talk about all that loss, all those different seasons of life she's lived through, from being a wild young girl with a baby bird in her pocket, mercilessly bullied at school, to being a starry-eyed raver at the peak of Sydney's club scene, to being a survivalist who falls in love with a man from somewhere else, gets diagnosed with cancer at the very moment she's about to become a mother, has three precious years with her baby girl before that sickness comes for her, too. And the woman who chose, in the aftermath of unimaginable loss, to change again, to live. And live big. Gina Chick really does know how to look change right in the eye. Environmental change is something that all organisms must deal with throughout their life. This is especially true for long-lived plants. Adapt or die is often the only options available for most plants, but predicting their responses can be extremely difficult. That is where people like Dr. Megan DeMarche come in. Using long term datasets on centuries old alpine plants, Dr. DeMarche and her colleagues are hard at work trying to understand how alpine plants may or may not adapt to rapid changes in their habitat and how these sorts of data can help improve plant conservation efforts. This week's episode is a little longer than typical, and a little different. Instead of starting with a check in, we will be starting out with our Deep Dive. When we listened to the recording of this week's check in, Jason realized that there was an opportunity to add some content in the form of a deep dive. That information will be helpful in processing the conversation we have in our check in. In our Deep Dive this week we discuss neuroplasticity, specifically the way it relates to the ADHD brain. Neuroplasticity is a relatively new concept that describes the brain's ability to change and adapt on the physical level to changes in stimulation, thoughts, and the environment. This is not split-second adaptability, but the type that happens over time. In short, we discuss how our brain can be trained into new ways of working. This is particularly beneficial for those of us with ADHD. Our Check In starts out with Edward discussing the changes that he is experiencing at work. Obviously the a new client in the home is a big change and challenge for his adaptability. Edward also brings up that the office situation is changing and he will be working more in the middle of the house. This open Edward up to more stimulation and a greater number of potential distractions. Jason offers advice in the form of new skills and approaches to Edward's job. Edward finds it hard to process the information, but through communication and some time Jason assists Edward in understanding the steps and processes involved.

As a community of people who want to grow purpose-led businesses that make money and make a difference, many of us are actively seeking to create change. But there is a difference between the change we seek to create and the change that we feel is foist upon us by outside forces. The cost of living crisis, an impending recession, the ongoing war in Ukraine, the crisis in the NHS and other public services; the fallout from the Covid pandemic and, in the UK, the death of our longest serving monarch - all of these issues and more have been imposed upon us and, understandably, they are having a real impact on anxiety levels. In this episode, I share five tips for coping with change. What You'll Learn:Why you should pay more attention to your reaction to change than to change itselfWhy you should rely on your adaptability to navigate challenging timesWhat kind of people you should surround yourself with when things start to go southWhy there is no self without self-care How improving as a collective will pour the positivity and support you need during difficult timesAt the slightest sign of scarcity, the first impulse is to constrain ourselves and cut unnecessary spending, and that's acceptable as a way of self-protection. But unfortunately, most entrepreneurs bought into the idea that when harsh times approach, everyone is on their own and by themselves, when actually, we need to connect, collaborate, and rely on a community if we want to make a difference. Featuring Pastor Craig Laughlin! In part two, we discuss the inevitable changes church are currently facing and how they will adapt if they hope to continue existing in the future. Additionally, we spend time imagining how Guerrilla pastors may partner with traditional churches, and how to prepare the next generation of pastors for a church that will look wildly different tomorrow than it does today. This is our first of three separate conversations with successful traditional pastors here in the Pacific Northwest as we endeavor to make good on our claim that we would rather collaborate than "burn it all down." --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/guerilla-pastors/message
