Simon Squibb- Creating Valuable Content is the Key to Success

The Podcasters Podcast

Simon is a serial entrepreneur and seasoned content creator including a successful YouTube channel and the Podcast PEP Talk: The Purposeful Project. In this episode, Kane and Simon discuss what it takes to get started with your podcast, how to create great content over and over again and what really counts when it comes to building a podcast, a business and a brand. Simon also talks about his passion behind helping others build their own businesses and learning how to transform their lives.    KEY TAKEAWAYS Simon started a digital agency which he recently sold. He always had the philosophy that he was not the front or the face of the company and this then aided him in being able to sell it with its own strong business brand intact. He believes there is too much emphasis on personal brand at the moment and not enough focus on the business brand.  When Covid hit, Simon decided to start creating content that would be useful for other people, to help and aid them in starting their own business and creating their own wealth. This is what led him to create his podcast.  Simon learnt about entrepreneurship out of necessity, it was difficult and he learnt everything the hard way. This is what drives him to want to help everyone no matter who they are. When Simon created his podcast, he never thought about whether it would be viral or get ‘big' he just focused on the content and whether that was providing value for the listeners. Reputation goes a long way, this alongside building a successful working network is how Simon continues to get great guests on his podcast. Spotify is really starting to put the work in to become a more dominant platform in the podcasting world. They are consistently coming up with innovative concepts and features to try and get ahead of Apple. Entrepreneur House is Simon's concept to have entrepreneurs come and stay as a package whilst they start their business; you learn, stay and build your business all under one roof. He has one property now but feels like it is very valuable and scalable as a concept.  Many people suffer from imposter syndrome but Simon says you can use these feelings for strength. You can take that energy and leverage it to prove you are who you say you are, creating energy to deliver what you want to do. Simon likes to consume his own content in a variety of ways but surprisingly not that often through podcasting. His main aim when consuming content is to learn something, it doesn't matter to him what format that takes. BEST MOMENTS “Our whole process was making sure our clients became famous” “My dream would be to remove the word unemployed from the world” “I believe personal brand is overrated” “You can start to leverage imposter syndrome to prove you are who you say you are and it can generate energy in you” “I like to consume content from those I respect, from those I can learn from” ABOUT THE GUEST Simon Squibb Entrepreneur, investor, mentor and content creator. How To Create An "Entrepreneur House" (Or A Co-Living House)

Ever heard of an “Entrepreneur House” or a co-living house? A few years ago I created the first Entrepreneur House in San Diego. It was written about in Entrepreneur.com and since then, a lot of people have asked how to create their own. There’s a couple in San Diego and a couple in LA (we just started a new one here that I’m living in)…and this is something I think there should be more of. It doesn’t have to be an “Entrepreneur House”... It can be any sort of house that brings together like-minded people who challenge each other to be better. As Jim Rohn says, you’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with…so why not spend more time with people who help you grow! In this episode, I walk through 3 steps to create your own Entrepreneur House. Hope you enjoy! P.S. check out the entrepreneur.com article here: https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/... He is now a co-founder and has built a great team around them.  “I came in, and there was no revenue going on. They were just doing it for free, paying for it out of their own pocket, working pizza jobs, just to pay for it. A tournament that gets more viewers than the Superbowl. “So if you think of basketball, football, lacrosse, anything in high school, you have a team, and you play against other high schools, and you compete for Championships (and all sorts of different prizes). That’s what this is. You can play video games for your high school and compete against other high schools.” Trevor Jensen How Jensen introduced new revenue models and put together a team of experts. What they looked for in people and investors. The steps he took and where he began in order to find the right team for this massive opportunity. The Importance Of Your Elevator Pitch For Networking “Having your elevator pitch about your company is really important because if you get people that you’re talking to excited, they’ll make an introduction to someone who makes an introduction to someone, and the word starts traveling fast”. Trevor Jensen Questions to ask that will help you to build rapport and genuinely do good in the world. “If you own the high school audience, you own all of these sports, and we are the biggest and fastest-growing high school E-sports community”. At the age of fifteen, prompted by late-night infomercials, Michael bought the book No Money Down by Carlton Sheets, which planted the seed of eventually becoming a house flipper. However, the road to success was not always easy. Growing up next to the projects in Baltimore, Michael found himself getting into trouble, and his relationship with his dad was built on breaking the law. He started as a flooring installer, and in 2008, he was doing a job for a gentleman flipping houses named Jason Shara. Sensing his curiosity and interest in the industry, he invited Michael to a free meeting for house flippers. At this meeting, Michael was introduced to his first mentor. After just a few months of studying under his mentor, he made his first deal flipping a house for $16,000 without a single penny of his money. For the next year, he continued doing flips and made a total of $106,459, and in 2009 he was able to leave his full-time job and has been flipping houses ever since.  Links And Mentions From This Episode: · Michael's Website: http://theflipfactor.net· TetraNoodle consulting services: www.bootstrapping.group· TetraNoodle professional training: https://courses.tetranoodle.com  Thanks for Tuning In!Thanks so much for being with us this week.Have some feedback you'd like to share? Chris started off running his events over two months which is a pretty herculean feat!... but has now reduced it down to 10 days. Chris travels full time with his girlfriend although he likes to stay in one place for several months at a time and told me the term ‘slowmad' which I hadn't heard before to describe this lifestyle. Chris is a Podcasting machine and he's produced close to 400 podcast episodes that I can find! Podcasting is a major sales funnel for his events but we discussed how this is a long term proposition and you need to really enjoy it. The second major sales funnel is posting in forms and groups that Chris is a part of. Chris shares his content widely on social media (Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and this also helps with attendees but no one platform worked especially well for him. Along with the events, Chris runs productivity coaching and the podcast also helps him get new clients for this. In terms of the logistics of the events, Chris makes it a super casual format with fixed sessions then free time in between and the attendees often organize trips, etc by themselves. If they’re importing / manufacturing / holding inventory the main issue I see people struggling with is managing cash flow as rapid growth requires tons of cash. It’s worth talking about, but that’s a topic for another day.  Ben Hebert, Founder of Natural Stacks   ~ Current Series ~ 100 Interviews with 100 Location Independent Entrepreneurs That Have Over $1,000,000 in Annual Revenue Hello listeners and welcome back to the show! Today, we have a very special show for you. Many of you know this already, but The Entrepreneur House is going through a rebrand. It has been a long process that has taken over a year and a lot of hard work. We are doing this for a couple reasons; One, the company and podcast is really growing in a different direction. While we have really enjoyed over three years of hosting entrepreneurs from around the world and creating some amazing experiences, we have to be honest with ourselves and admit, it is time to up-brand. Don't worry though, we will still be creating amazing events for entrepreneurs and delivering some incredible content through the podcast. The second reason is, that the word ‘Entrepreneur' is trademarked by Entrepreneur Magazine and they have been initiating lawsuits against companies that use the word ‘entrepreneur' in their business. We interviewed David Lizerbram who is an attorney that represented a company while going through this process in Episode 211 ~ What Entrepreneurs Need to Know About Trademark and Copyright Law. This has become a very expensive and timely process for many companies, so long story short, we bit the bullet and are changing our name before this becomes an issue. But don't worry, if you are currently subscribed to the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn, PodBean or any other platform, you won't need to change a thing. You will just see a name change when you go to look for the show.   So, we wanted to bring on an entrepreneur that has created amazing results building a 7-figure location independent business and knows a lot about the branding process. Enter, Ben ey bear Hebert. Ben is the founder of Natural Stacks. Natural Stacks is a supplement company that helps people achieve the highest level of performance with natural solutions that work. It is also a company that took Ben from less than $3,000 in his bank account to over $1,000,000 in revenue his first year in business. On the show, Ben walks us through a rebrand and asks some really good questions that can help anyone creating a new brand or reestablishing their brand. From naming, colors, and logos, Ben shares the questions he had to ask himself and walks us through the process he went through branding Natural Stacks. Later in the show, Ben talks about getting to your next level of business, tapping into trends and what he would do if he had to start all over. It is an incredible episode full of high-value content and without further adieu...Ben Hebert   “Just stay in the game. Also from the high times, knowing those are temporary. [Mindfulness also helps] to keep myself in check and not become too arrogant or egotistical. [It also helps] to realize that it's important to be mindful that life has highs and lows. That can keep you on a good wave length with continually growing and figuring out what's next. Thoughts on Breathing I use breathing when I meditate and I think that gets me centered a lot. I realize when my emotions are out of balance, when I'm getting more stressed or frustrated, or when anger comes up, I use breathing to either let go of that, or find a center grounding. If I ever have trouble sleeping, I use breathing exercises to drift off to sleep. That really helps me find a center of focus where I can focus on my goals and work toward my dreams and be aware of how I'm treating others at the same time. Growing up, through that experience I definitely was not aware of what I was doing or the effects of what I was doing or how it was really affecting me. Me being bullied, that part even affects me today. Me doing the bullying doesn't affect me so much. The one person in particular; I've actually tried to reach out to that person to apologize and make it even. I think becoming aware through personal development made me really realize how hurtful that is to children and how it really impacts them. I can think of three individuals who bullied me growing up and how I still feel about them today. One of them is now a good friend and has been for fifteen years or so. The earlier days when I was being bullied by him; I still think about that exact moment, what happened and how hurtful it was. And also, in retaliation and in order to fit in, the bullying on my part was sent off to somebody else. I think it's very important to teach our kids mindfulness and to become aware of how your behavior is affecting others. That would prevent a lot of that [bullying]. If we have children and parents that are aware of this type of behavior, it would really change the world.

I love this new book I'm reading!  Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win Hey, Path Hunters,  Today's guest is the Host of The Entrepreneur House podcast and the Entrepreneur house event in Northern Thailand. My guest Chris Reynolds jumped onto The Path Hunters podcast today sharing his insights on the concept of "you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with"  We drive into the mindset portion of it. The concept of surrounding yourself with high-level entrepreneurs and ideas on how to find them.  Chris gives a lot of credit to networking, and what he does to get into these high-level entrepreneurs world.  Networking Techniques  Chris mentioned that networking is so important to developing great relationships, and a few suggestions are attending events and paying a little bit more for the VIP package so that it gives you the opportunity to chat with some of the speakers or people you want to meet.  Another great one is volunteering your time and offering help so that it builds great relationships. Entrepreneur House I personally love Chris's podcast and his Entrepreneur House Event where he gathers entrepreneurs together to live for a certain period of time so that they may learn and grow together. He hosts that annually in different parts of the world, this year will be in Northern Thailand. It was so much fun having Chris onto the podcast and hearing him share some golden nuggets on networking! Thank you so much, my friend, for coming on! “I'm going to give you an honest answer…because I don't recommend you do this with your business. We got addicted to the sales.” Freddy Lansky Today listeners we are welcoming and Alumni of The Entrepreneur House and co-founder of iChess to the show Freddy Lansky. Today Freddy and I talk about a variety of subjects from YouTube to living in Mexico City. But the highlights for me on this show were two things. First, Freddy's business created $750k in revenue in 2016, doubling from 2015 and he talks about his email marketing strategy that has created the majority of this. The second was how his business was a disaster behind the scenes while Freddy, his partner, and their team were hustling away to make sure not so long ago they could keep this business afloat. Today they are doing much better but Freddy talks about a low point in their business where they were questioning everything they were doing and if it was wise to continue forward with iChess. “If you stop running the sales, our revenue will go from $70, $80k a month to $20k.” Freddy Lansky What was really refreshing in this podcast is that Freddy was an open book and open to share his highs and lows and the reality of being an entrepreneur. Freddy shared his numbers and what was happening behind the scenes with his business and I am really glad we got him on the show. If you take the time to listen to the podcast, I think any entrepreneur would really appreciate this episode and the take-a-ways we can learn from Freddy. And with that, let me welcome Freddy Lansky to the show! “In December 2016 we had a major milestone crossed, we hit 6-figures in monthly revenue for the first time ever and did nearly $50k profit for the month! We finished this year with 63% revenue growth and a mind-boggling 335% profit growth over 2015!” Freddy Lansky 3:00: Living in Mexico City and the Reality of Living in Mexico as a Foreigner Today 15:52: Business Disaster and Building Through It 18:22, 27:20: Using Email Marketing to Double iChess's Revenue 36:05: YouTube Today 1:06:10 Outtakes Honorable Mentions: Kunaki - Prints on demand for physical products http://kunaki.com/ Deadline Funnel https://deadlinefunnel.com/ DC - dynamitecircle.com http://www.tropicalmba.com/dc/ Minaal Backpack https://www.minaal.com/ Contact Info: freddy@ichess.net https://www.ichess.net/ https://www.ichess.es/ https://www.youtube.com/user/OnlineChessLessons Twitter: @onlinechessless

Tim turns entrepreneurs into CEO's of their company teaching his clients how to scale their business from 6 to 7 figures without sacrificing their freedom or sanity. In the late 1990's Tim started marketing consulting for companies to integrate offline and online campaigns. After 2 decades of experience, Tim has worked with over 400 founders, and started, sold and invested in multiple businesses. He knows what it is like to create a 7-figure business and the pressures of running a business at that level. Here is what I like about Tim, he is a no BS guy. His advice is clear and direct and he will tell you what your businesses needs and how to accomplish it in the least amount of time. In 2015, Tim came as an advisor to The Entrepreneur House in Chiang Mai. It was incredible watching this man when helping the attendees with feedback on their business. It was watching a master at work. “When we take on the mantle of entrepreneurship, we are saying to the world, “I'm ready to lead.” Tim Conley Creating Efficient Systems: 1. Must have sizable margins -Must have significantly more revenue than it costs you to provide the service or product. “A company that has great margins can survive all kinds of inefficiency.” Tim Conley 2. Marketing and Sales -Separate the two. Are you sales oriented or marketing oriented? -Usually, a company will be more marketing oriented or more sales oriented. -A sales-oriented company will plateau and they will eventually need to go do marketing or bring in someone that is good at marketing. “Entrepreneurship is that….you take and idea and turn it into reality. How much more art is there than that?” Tim Conley “No one is going to feel sorry for the guy that makes 7-figures….but surrounding ourselves with others that understand what we are going through, it helps us be better people.” Tim Conley Contact Info: Website: http://tim411.com http://leaderswithin.io/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TimConley The Forge Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheForgeGroup/

He's talents are content strategy, and creating educational blog posts. In this episode, we will address the why behind content, writing a blog and why they are both important. We will also touch on new business and product ideas and how to scale them from 0-$4,000 in one month.  P.S. We have to let you know we had some connection issues during the podcast and there are a few choppy places in the audio. Many apologies we did the best we could to patch it up nicely. Valuable Tips from Kamil: The questions you should ask yourself before you start a new business or product…. 1. Are you excited to work on this everyday for the next 4 years? 2. Would you like to have lunch with your clients every Friday? 3. Is it scaleable and can it run without you? 4. Will it launch quickly? “It's human nature to write about yourself. What you should be doing is writing about the person who is going to be reading your blog.” Kamil Kaminski “I though f*** that….I told the VC's I won't take their offer.” Kamil Kaminski “I created my offer using the exact problems and objections they had.” Kamil Kaminski Honorable Mentions: Tropical MBA Podcast http://www.tropicalmba.com/ DCBKK Conference http://www.tropicalmba.com/dcbkk-in-25-photos/ Taylor Pearson https://taylorpearson.me Niel Napier https://jobrack.eu/ Clare Goodwin http://solepal.com/ Paul Levine http://theentrepreneurhouse.com/ep-123-building-an-audience-live-workshop-inside-the-entrepreneur-house-w-paul-levine/ Dan Norris http://7daystartup.com/ Dynamite Circle http://www.tropicalmba.com/dc/ Ep. 127 ~ The Power of Giving Away Your Time http://theentrepreneurhouse.com/ep-127the-power-of-giving-your-time-a-wrap-up-to-chiang-mai/ Contact Info: hi@kamin.ski contentmarketingdoneforyou.com http://www.kamin.ski/

Chris Reynolds has always had incredible community building skills and puts them to good use with his latest business, The Entrepreneur House. For over a year now, Chris has been bringing together experienced entrepreneurs from all over the world, to live in a shared home (or homes) in a variety of countries. During their stay, lasting anywhere from 1-3 months, they mastermind, attend local events, and help each other to grow their businesses to the next level. Chris knows intimately what it's like to go from rock bottom to thriving business owner. He started his entrepreneurial journey selling real estate educational packages. This was a fun learning process and ended up being very financially rewarding. But, the crash of 2008 put a stop to this and in the process he lost his home, his car, everything. Determined to make it as an entrepreneur, Chris started over. It was an arduous process but Chris was committed to reaching his goals of financial and location independence. He started off selling products on Amazon and eventually got into niche websites; this is where he started to gain traction selling real-estate info products. After two years of this work he was able to achieve his dream of being a location independent digital nomad; supporting himself as he traveled the world. Leaving his home brought him many adventures and ample growth, but it came at the price of leaving a great community of like-minded entrepreneurs that he was a part of. His first major destination was Costa Rica. While living there he was surrounded by people wanting to only hang out and surf. Fun, if that's all you're into, but it didn't offer the entrepreneurial minded growth that he was looking for. Chris turned his need for like-minded community in a profitable business, and this was the catalyst for the Entrepreneur House. The first House he created was in Barcelona and he had 12 great entrepreneurs join him there. This incredible group of people helped him develop what the House has become today. Together they shaped and molded the masterminding and goal setting processes, and today the features and perks of living in the house are much more evolved. Since the first iteration he's created four other Entrepreneur Houses, and has many more planned for the future. Having an international business such as this presents its fair share of problems. But Chris works through those by trying to understand the cultural differences of the countries he's trying to work with. The logistics of finding short-term housing that suits the needs of the participants would be a struggle for many people, but Chris has honed this process. Many countries outside of the US actually make it easy to lease a large fully-furnished house for any time frame. When traveling abroad to a new city, it can be hard to source accommodations, good internet, a great community all on your own. This takes time away from the work you want to do. The goal of the Entrepreneur House is to take care of these things for people so they can be more productive. Some of the amenities that the House offers: Weekly Masterminds where you can pose challenges and the group helps you through them. Workshops with advisors on topics ranging from Facebook to funnels to SEO to content marketing and more. Sunday dinners where everyone eats together and bonds like a family. Weekend events for team building or just fun activities. Private rooms for all with great internet and in the center of the city. Plug-ins to local festivals and events. Chris was a great guest for the podcast. He's created amazing memories for the communities he's created as well as opportunities for people to grow personally and professionally in a way they wouldn't have otherwise. SOME QUESTIONS I ASK: What was the transition like from rock-bottom to now? How did Chris become drawn to the nomadic lifestyle? What was the catalyst for creating the Entrepreneur House? What are some struggles faced when setting up international endeavors such as this?   IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: What famous person gave Chris (and myself) the motivation to become a world traveler The simple piece of advice he would give to anyone wanting to travel the world How he chooses the city for the next Entrepreneur House How fear can propel you to work hard and succeed Plus much more…   DON'T STOP HERE… Connect with Chris and the Entrepreneur House: Website   ADDITIONAL RESOURCES: ‘Lone Survivor' by Marcus Luttrell: Book Airbnb: website

He spent many hours working one-on-one with the attendees on the biggest problems they are facing in their business and how they can overcome them. How we worked hard to keep the momentum going for the attendees while enjoying their time in Thailand. We will touch on leadership, managing balance, the importance of goal setting, and why Tal gave us his time to advise for The Entrepreneur House. This I can say was not an easy job. There are literally hundreds of hours of work that goes on behind the scenes keeping a house going and keeping the attendees progressing towards their goals. Tal and I had many meetings and chats about where we could improve the experience of the house and what worked really well…. Tal's Bio: -Served in the Israeli army. -Worked and lived in over 50 countries. -In 2005, he made a conscious decision to pursue every big dream he had setting 100 Bucketlist goals, and achieving 90 of them as of today. -He has built a home for a family in Peru that lost their home in a mudslide. -He completed a 12,000 km motorcycle journey across Australia. -Trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. -Created an online business making over 6-figures passive income. If you are lucky enough to find him…and get a moment of his time I recommend you do…… “When people come for 30-Days, they bond better and there is a sense of trust. One of the features of the show we discuss a disastrous off-road motorcycle trip that we took in the jungles of Northern Thailand. On today's episode of The Entrepreneur House podcast I'm stoked to introduce our guest Winston Carter. http://theentrepreneurhouse.com/from-getting-kidnapped-in-china-to-making-6-figures-a-month-online/ Winston is a crazy cool cat from Zinzie Land (you'll find out where that is in a bit). Winston recently stayed with us in the Chiang Mai, Thailand entrepreneur house and shared a story about how he: 1 - Got kidnapped in China by Chinese thugs (seriously) 2 - Came home shortly thereafter and got sacked from his job 3 - Proceeded to start a $100k business with some seed capital from the best investors ever...his parents! Damn...talk about making lemons into lemonade! In this episode, Winston shares several poignant business (and life!) lessons, including: - How to stay cool in a crisis situation - How to use sales and persuasion skills to turn foes into friends - How to enlist the help of locals to resolve disputes in a foreign country - Buying tasers from street hustlers - How to bounce back resiliently from getting kidnapped (and fired from your job) to start a successful business ...and more!
