In this episode of the Money Meets Medicine podcast, hosted by Dr. Jimmy Turner and his co-host Justin Harvey, they discuss the potential financial consequences of sticking with the wrong financial advisor during one's career and retirement. They emphasize the importance of financial literacy for physicians, highlighting three groups of doctors based on their financial advisory needs: do-it-yourselfers, those who need help with fine-tuning, and those who prefer to outsource entirely. The discussion covers red flags that signal a problematic advisor, such as lack of fee transparency and inadequate knowledge of physician-specific financial needs. They also provide practical advice on how to fire a financial advisor, stressing the importance of being transparent and clear. They conclude with resources for finding the right advisor and emphasize the value of technical competency and integrity in financial advising.Looking for a good financial advisor? I'm thrilled to welcome Clayton Quamme to today's episode of Military to Financial Planner! Clayton shares his fascinating career journey, starting with an unexpected gift—a personal finance book from his mom—back when he was 16. Throughout our conversation, Clayton provides incredible transparency. He details salary expectations at different stages of his career, from his initial struggles transitioning from active duty, taking a significant pay cut, balancing numbers as the family's primary income-earner, to becoming a partner at a successful RIA managing over $300 million. Come prepared to hear about the practical realities of financial planning careers, salary expectations, and what transitioning service members can anticipate as they navigate this exciting yet challenging profession. If you're coming out of a military background and wondering how to break into financial planning, Clayton shares helpful resources, thoughtful insights, and actionable advice born from personal experience. In this episode, Warren Shute and Paul Cleworth walk you through what really happens in a first client meeting — and how to make sure yours feels less like a cold sales pitch and more like the start of an empowering journey. Think of it as your client's first step onto the Yellow Brick Road — and you're there as their guide, helping them find clarity, courage, and confidence about their future. Warren and Paul break down the essential ingredients for a truly meaningful first meeting: warm hospitality, a calm and welcoming setting (with proper biscuits!), and a tone that's informal but purposeful. You'll hear how the goal isn't to impress with technical know-how, but to really listen — to values, goals, fears, and dreams. If you're serious about elevating your client onboarding, just click your heels and watch this episode, it will help you turn first meetings from transactional to transformational. ========================== Chapters: 0:00 - Intro 6:52 - What you should expect when you first meet a financial planner ========================== Show Notes: Disc Profiling Tool https://www.discusonline.com/en-gb/ Tandem Link Tree link https://linktr.ee/tandemfinancial Ferris Bueller 40 years! – Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around, you could miss it! https://www.imdb.com/video/vi814725401/ Poem Warren Likes https://lindaellis.life/the-story-behind-the-dash-1 ========================== Follow us our our social media channels: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thefinancegeekspodcast/ X: https://twitter.com/TheFinanceGeeks YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thefinancegeeks ========================== This show is designed to be informational only and does not constitute investment or financial advice. Welcome to the Durham Talents Channel! I never would've seen infinite banking if I didn't have a personal friend invite me to see a presentation. It bothers me to think that I might not be reaching myself. Meaning, what if I'm not even reaching people just like me because somebody's not inviting them.My friend called me, excited and talking about this idea of becoming your own banker. He didn't even end up doing it, but, I'm so glad that he invited me.Life was busy. You could probably understand that. I was a husband, my family was growing as my second son was just born that year. I started a side hustle business on top of working full-time that I decided to do full-time. We were active in our church. We love being outdoors. We wanted to travel and create experiences with our children. We were doing all of the conventional financial things: getting into debt with the banks, while paying into qualified plans, etc. When I saw infinite banking, I realized that I was a hamster on the wheel. When I saw infinite banking, I knew that was our path towards financial independenceAt the end of that presentation, the gentleman who showed us everything said that if we knew of somebody else that could benefit from this powerful financial information that we should invite them to see it.Here's the thing, I SHOWED UP at that presentation with three other fellas in my car that I had invited to come with me. A brother, friends, and business partners.Thankfully, I was just at an open minded point in my life where I realized that you don't know what you don't know and then after I saw that presentation, I realized that some things that we think we know just aren't so. And I believe that when you know better, you can do better, if you choose So here's what I'm asking, if you know somebody that should discover this powerful financial concept, encourage them to check it out. Send them to my website. They can see me make a presentation right there just like I saw back in 2015 that changed everything for me. They will hear me talk about the book that Nelson wrote , who started it all. And then they can choose to live and leave for lasting legacy. If my friend hadn't invited me, I wouldn't have seen it. ⚔️ LIVE & LEAVE A LASTING LEGACY

Send us a textThe conventional approach to withdrawing retirement funds generally involves withdrawing from taxable accounts first, followed by tax-deferred accounts, and finally tax-free accounts. This strategy can minimize taxes and maximize the growth of tax-advantaged investments. Does that mean that this is the best approach for everyone? We're halfway through the year, advisors — and you know what that means. It's time to hit pause, get real about what's working (and what's not), and make sure you're set up to finish strong. In this episode, I'm sharing my favorite mid-year exercise: a SQUAD Analysis, plus a peek at how I do my own CEO Day to reset, reprioritize, and refocus for the second half of the year. Here's what you'll learn in this episode: 1️⃣ How to run your own S.Q.U.A.D Analysis (a fresh spin on SWOT just for advisors) 2️⃣ Which strengths you should scale — and which ones you shouldn't 3️⃣ How to spot the quicksand that's secretly dragging you down 4️⃣ The one-page Direction plan to keep you realistic and focused on what matters 5️⃣ How to pick your top 3 goals for the next quarter (without burning yourself out)No matter where you stand right now — ahead, behind, or coasting — this is your chance to recalibrate and play the rest of the year on purpose. Grab a notebook, your favorite coffee (mushroom for me, please), and let's map out a second half you can feel proud of.Check out The First 100 Days Course: The Advisor's Blueprint for a Remarkable Client Experience HERE!Learn more about Asset-Map financial planning software HERE!
