We are back! So much has happened in the sports nutrition space over the last few months and I'm so excited to be in my recording space to get you caught up! There's too much to discuss in this one episode so I'll be hitting you with news for the next few weeks, but today I want to talk about the new hydration sponsor on course for the North American Ironman events: Mortal Hydration. What is Mortal Hydration? Ironman announced early this year that they're phasing out Gatorade Endurance and introducing Mortal Hydration for their North American events. This change is not global, so our friends in Australia and the UK can breathe a sigh of relief. But if you're heading to a North American race, you need to be prepared. Unlike Gatorade Endurance, which is a carbohydrate-rich sports drink, Mortal Hydration is more of a hydration formula with considerably less carbohydrate content. Here's a quick comparison: Gatorade Endurance: 620 mg of sodium and 46 grams of carbohydrate per bottle. Mortal Hydration: 460 mg of sodium (or 920mg in the salty version) and only 10 grams of carbohydrate per bottle. Preparing for the Change: As you can see the two drinks differ significantly. If your fueling strategy relied heavily on Gatorade Endurance for carbs and electrolytes, you'll need to rethink your plan. I know that it can be frustrating, especially if you've been prepping for an Ironman for months or even years, but it's crucial to stay flexible and give your body what it needs. You can't just drink more Mortal Hydration to compensate for the lower carbohydrate content as your sodium intake would get dangerous quickly. Instead, find an alternative source of carbohydrates that can complement the electrolytes from Mortal Hydration. Be prepared to be more self-sufficient, especially on the bike leg, so you don't end up under-fueled It is also important to consider that while Gatorade Endurance is fairly easy to purchase in person, Mortal Hydration is currently only available for purchase online. This is just another layer of planning you'll need to consider in your fueling plan. Listener Question: At the end of the episode, I address a question from Laurie in Greenville, North Carolina, about managing nutrition with gastroparesis while training for triathlons. Gastroparesis is slow gut mobility and poses unique challenges in ensuring adequate nutrition during endurance events. While I don't have the details to give Laurie personalised advice, I can suggest a few steps to take: Medical Review: Consult with a sports physician to address the underlying causes and explore potential treatments. Work with a Qualified Sports Dietitian: Customise your nutrition strategy to accommodate your condition and specific needs. Strategic Gut Training: Gradually train your gut to handle the nutrition plan suited for your condition. Thanks for having me in your ears today. It's great to be back and I look forward to catching up more in the coming weeks. Until then, stay fueled and stay informed! Today on the podcast I sync up with my friend, elite athlete and top triathlon & running coach, Dave Mendelsohn. Dave has been a nationally sponsored runner for several years, currently sponsored by Gatorade Endurance and one of the original Coaches of the Empire Tri Club, which is how we met. He is a USATF Level 1 Coach & competitive distance runner and triathlete. Dave is also an official pacer for the New York Road Runners (NYRR), and can be found pacing their half marathons, long training runs and the NYC marathon, which he is officially a streaker! Dave is a 2x Ironman finisher with countless Half Ironman, Olympic and Sprint Triathlons under his belt, and a seasoned road racer having completed 100+ Marathons and UltraMarathons. We are talking about unlocking your speed and digging deep to get into that fifth gear, building mileage safely to optimize training, and the value of pacing whatever distance or race. I asked Dave which race he thought was more challenging NYC or Boston, what his fave Marathons are, since he has done 100. And we talk about his adorable twins, how they both love running and how he has been coaching them as well. Today I speak to a running legend, a legend who's still running at the top level of the sport - Molly Huddle. I've been a fan and follower of Molly's forever. I've been so impressed by how she has evolved her career so she can continue to do what she loves and improve while most athletes fade away from injury or the simple aggregation of so many miles over so many years. Molly is a 2-time Olympian. She ran the 5,000 in 2012 and the 10,000 in 2016. She's going for the 2020 Olympics (in 2021!) and currently training for the 10k. She has or has held 6 American records. She's been running competitively for around 20 years! Not only is a she a badass pro runner who created her own formula for success, she is using her platform to advocate for social causes she believes in. Not every athlete has the courage to do this! One of her keys to success is her ability to nurture strong relationships. I'm happy to share that today's episode is sponsored by one of her sponsors: Gatorade Endurance! “I think you can almost want something too bad. Because I just wanted it so bad. I wasn’t relaxed. It wasn’t fun anymore. It was just tunnel vision on winning — and I wasn’t winning! I wanted it so bad and it wasn’t happening. It was very draining.” What happens when you set big, dreamy, lofty goals — but when it counts the most, you fall short? That’s what this series, “Just Missed,” is about. These conversations are about dealing with disappointment. They are reminders that progress is never linear, and that it’s not always the big wins or the losses that define us, but the moments in between. So far on this series, we’ve heard from Julia Lucas and HOKA NAZ Elite athlete Kellyn Taylor. Today, Oregon Track Club’s Chanelle Price is here. Chanelle was a standout athlete in high school. She was named Gatorade’s Athlete of the Year, and became addicted to winning. But when she went away to college at the University of Tennessee, she was no longer “high school Chanelle.” She wasn’t winning. She wasn’t the fastest on the team. And she struggled. She had a goal of becoming an NCAA 800m champion, but missed that goal, finishing second at both indoors and outdoors. From there, Chanelle’s running career saw high highs and challenging lows. She decided to compete at the professional level, but struggled to find a sponsor early on. In 2014, Chanelle had a breakthrough: She won gold in the 800m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, and became the only American woman to ever win a gold medal there. She signed with Nike. She won gold — three times — as a member of Team USA’s 4x800m relay at World Athletics Championships. She ran a personal best in the 800m: 1:59.10. Then, in 2017, it all came crashing down. The hits came in rapid succession: a foot fracture, a pulmonary embolism that led to blood clots in her lungs, and, ultimately, a bout with mononucleosis. All of that led to her losing her sponsor. It all could’ve been career-ending, but Chanelle wouldn’t let that happen. She mounted a comeback — and last year, dealt with another foot fracture. Today, Chanelle is up and running (up, literally, at altitude), gearing up for the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials. This is her story. With the world celebrating Earth Day this week, in episode five we discuss sustainability, particularly through the lens of our running. We'll dive into how and why runners in our community and NYRR, as an organization, are working toward a more sustainable future. In our “how” segment, Coach Annick and Coach Roberto discuss what sustainability looks like for runners and races, and how it affects us all. They chat with Aly Criscuolo, Manager of Environmental Sustainability at NYRR, about the future framework of NYRR's approach to sustainability as an organization. And in our “why” segment, Shaquana chats with father and son Jonathan and Simon Cane. Jonathan is a runner and coach based in NYC. His 9-year old son, Simon, inspired by his science class, decided to run every day to school to be more environmentally friendly. We'll hear from them both on how they use running to make the world a cleaner place. Thank you to our partners Gatorade Endurance and Tata Consultancy Services for supporting this episode: Spring training is in the air, and there's no better time to experiment and find the right fuel for your personal goals. “I think that in order to do special things, especially in running, you really have to put yourself out there. And a lot of times, it doesn’t go how you want it to. But you can learn a lot from the times that don’t go right. When things go right, you’re like yeah, that was fun, that was easy… But the ones where you really have to work for it, you really have to put your head down and grind it out, go to a dark place, get it done — you grow so much more in those situations, and you take so much more away from those times.” What happens when you set big, dreamy, lofty goals — but when it counts the most, you fall short? That’s what this series, “Just Missed,” is about. These conversations are about dealing with disappointment. They are reminders that progress is never linear, and that it’s not always the big wins or the losses that define us, but the moments in between. Last week, we heard from former professional runner Julia Lucas. This week, HOKA NAZ Elite athlete Kellyn Taylor is here. Throughout her professional career, Kellyn has seen some major breakthroughs and has celebrated plenty of exciting moments. There was her win at the 2018 Grandma’s Marathon, where she ran a 2:24 just eight weeks after dropping out of the Boston Marathon. In 2019, she ran a personal best in the 5K, finished third at USATF Outdoor Championships, and placed seventh at the New York City Marathon. But along the way, she’s dealt with some tough stuff, too. There was that DNF in Boston. Injuries. And a handful of near-misses in pursuit of becoming an Olympian — most notably, in 2016, when she finished sixth at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and then finished fourth in the 10K at the Track & Field Trials a few months later. Then, last year, she hoped to make the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team — again — but finished eighth. Now, Kellyn, who is also a mom, a foster parent, and a trained firefighter, is gearing up for this summer’s Track & Field Trials, where she again hopes to make the 10K team. “There are so many times you start on a journey and somewhere along the way you realize, this isn’t where I wanted to go. The beginning of this was right, and then somewhere I took a turn or didn’t take a turn, and I ended up somewhere entirely different. And it caused a meltdown. Do I love running? What in running do I love? Can I get back to what I love?” What happens when you set big, dreamy, lofty goals — but when it counts the most, you fall short? That’s what this series, “Just Missed,” is about. For the next three weeks, these conversations are about dealing with disappointment. They are reminders that progress is never linear, and that it’s not always the big wins or the losses that define us, but the moments in between. First up: a conversation with former professional runner Julia Lucas. Today, Julia is a writer and a run coach in New York City. But in 2012, she was running professionally with the Oregon Track Club, and her goal was to make her first Olympic team in the 5K. She lined up at the start line at the Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, OR, as the hometown hero. She wanted the win. She knew she could win. She made her move early and she held it — for a while. Ultimately, though, it was the fourth-place finish seen around the world. That day at Hayward Field, Julia missed becoming an Olympian by one one-hundredth of a second. On this episode, she recounts that day and the emotions surrounding it — the buildup, the pressure, the expectations, and the aftermath. She talks about the role running plays today, and answers the question of how — or whether — that day at the 2012 Trials defined her. “I want every runner when they listen to this show to be reminded that regardless of your pace, your distance, how often you run, when you run — you’re a runner. I want you to know that even if you don’t see yourself in every episode, in every conversation — I see you. I see you in this community. I value you. I couldn’t do this without you. I will do my very best to make sure these conversations remain inclusive in every way possible.” In 2020, I released 126 episodes of the Ali on the Run Show with 133 different guests. I welcomed five new sponsors (goodr, Tracksmith, Athletic Greens, Gatorade Endurance, and Atlanta Track Club), and maintained a strong partnership with longtime sponsors (AfterShokz, UCAN, and New Balance). In addition to the Thursday conversations, there was a steady stream of fun series options to choose from: Love on the Run, On the Job, Feel-Good Fridays, Ali & the Experts, What’s New With You, and On the Record. I launched a Patreon page, built a community there, and happily hosted three live shows, one of which was virtual. With more than 2.5 million downloads, 2020 was a good year for this show, at least by the numbers. But it wasn’t easy. The state of the world forced me to do a lot of reflection, and to commit to serious changes on the show. I acknowledged — uncomfortably at times! — my own role in the running industry’s problems with racism and representation. I wrestled with how to pivot the show and these conversations once the pandemic hit. On this episode, I’m taking a look back at the last year for the Ali on the Run Show, including sharing some key takeaways from last month’s podcast listener survey. And, ultimately, I’m looking forward so I can continue to do my best to make the Ali on the Run Show a place where all runners are seen, heard, welcomed, and represented. “I think you should ditch worrying about your heart rate and just go by feel. Easy is a feeling, it is not a number. Sometimes you need parameters if you are prone to running too hard on your easy days but you should be able to ask yourself, ‘Does this feel easy?' and if the answer is no, you need to back it off a few notches. And even if the answer is yes, there's no harm in backing it off a notch because an easy run, the purpose of it, is to yes, maybe get in aerobic work but it's mostly to recover from the quality work that you're doing and to be able to absorb it. And on a truly easy day, you really can't go easy enough. I'll tell my athletes sometimes, ‘I want you a step above walking.' And that's going to be different for everyone, or everyone's perception of that is going to be a little bit different, but the point is, it needs to feel easy, it can't just be your watch telling you that here's the number that you're supposed to be at and it's easy because you're at that number because we're not programmable robots, we're human beings. And you need to be able to check in with yourself and be honest with yourself and ask yourself, ‘Is this truly easy?' and if it's not, have the discipline and the confidence to back off so that you're not overdoing it.” This week on the podcast I'm answering listener questions in the final Ask Mario Anything episode of 2020. We got some good ones about diversity in the sport, running with my dog Tahoe, easy run paces and weekly mileage, shoes, setting goals, and more. On the other side of the mic for this one is John Summerford, who I spend a few minutes catching up with before we dive into reader questions. “What I love about running, and what I love even more about running than I ever loved about dancing, is how human it is. It's a fundamental human gait: We crawl, we walk, we run, technically, apparently, skipping is also another gait, and so when you get better at it, for myself, I just felt more human. At that point in my life already, I had been through so many movement methods in trying to get myself together as a dancer: so much yoga, Klein technique, Gyrotonics, Alexander, Trager, everything that was out there I had done, practically, that I could find, and that was a lot. It all had effects, gave me different sensations. There's a certain way that I feel after I do yoga, but after I run, I realize I feel more human, as in a member of my species—it's really pronounced, really profound—and I really love working with that more than anything else.” Jae Gruenke is a highly sought-after expert on running form and technique. She's also a Feldenkrais Practitioner, founder of The Balanced Runner, and has helped countless runners from beginners to Olympians improve their form and performance since 2003. I've been following Jae's work for a little while now and recently found out that she doesn't live far from me, so we sat down at a local park and had a conversation that I think you'll really enjoy and take a lot away from. We talked about what it is that Jae does exactly and how she uses the Feldenkrais Method of Movement Education to help runners with their technique. She told me how she got into running after years as a professional dancer and how solving her own problems led her to working with others who were navigating similar issues. We discussed what mainstream publications miss when it comes to running technique, common places where runners go wrong, and what she considers to be the six elements of good form. We also got into cadence, the influence of footwear, the analyses she does on the elite fields in major races, and a lot more. “There's things we take for granted, as athletes, as coaches, and have those things taken away from you, you really just realize how much they mean to you and I think every opportunity we get to show up to work, every opportunity we get to showcase our talents, it should be done with gratitude, it should be done through gratitude. Gratitude should be the entry point to all that we do and all that we accomplish in life and I think as long as we keep that as our center focus, your perspective in sport and in life—you know, sport right now but definitely life in the future—it just changes.” Diljeet Taylor is the Associate Director of Cross Country and Track and Field at BYU, where she's coached since 2016. In 2019, her women's cross-country team finished second at the NCAA championships—only six points behind Arkansas—and it was the first time the Cougars had been on the podium since 2003. Prior to BYU, Diljeet coached both the men's and women's cross country and track programs at her alma mater, Division 2 Cal State Stanislaus, for nine years. I absolutely loved this conversation and I think you will too. We talked about how Diljeet and her team have navigated the pandemic on both an individual and collective level. She told me about her emphasis on gratitude and why it's such a big part of the culture she's created at BYU, her mission of empowering women, and the importance of investing in people and not performances. Diljeet and I discussed how she got into coaching, the influence coach Frank Gagliano had on her decision to pursue it as a career, and how she makes it work as mom of two kids and full-time Division 1 coach. We also talked about the self-check she does every day, the effect of social media on athletes this day and age, balancing confidence and humility, and a lot more. On the ninth episode of Habitual Routine, join Coach Annick Lamar as she helps you assemble your support crew with the help of Joseph Gray, 18-time United States national champion and 2-time World Mountain Running champion. Coach Annick and Joseph define what a support crew does and who you need in it, but first they advise you to reflect on yourself as a runner: Do you need people to show up for you on race day physically or emotionally—or maybe a mix of both? Then, they deep dive into how to logistically plan for assembling your team: how to ask, how to prepare them, and most importantly, how to express gratitude and bring your support crew along for the journey. With years of experience assembling crews, Joseph provides a master class in successfully planning and executing this integral component of your virtual marathon preparations. Follow Joseph Gray. We talk to The University of Wisconsin Women's XC coach Mackenzie Wartenberger about her time as a talented prep athlete (2:04 800m) coming into Cal Berkley with Alysia, how her track career was highly affected by pressure and race anxiety, how she has carried these lessons into her 11 year coaching career so far, what it's like to coach through a pandemic and how she keeps the women engaged and motivated as well as her thoughts on navigating any plans for motherhood and climbing the ranks of her career. "In sport, if you have torn hamstring you rehab the hamstring and you don't hide the fact that you have a torn hamstring. Thats something that you work on. If you struggle mentally with anxiety or expectation or depression or any of those things, that’s really internalized still . That's not something thats spoken about or shared. I think there is still a lot of shame applied to that struggle, instead of treating it like a muscle-when you strain a muscle you’ve got to rehab the muscle and then you’ve got to strengthen the muscle and then sometimes that muscle still hurts and you’ve got to back off. From a mental perspective I think a similar approach can be really helpful - to treat it like a normal process, it isn’t linear it’s not flipping a light switch ….. that’s a perspective that I try to bring to coaching as much as possible”for in depth show notes head to our site Keeping-Track.comAnd don't forget to get your 20% off Gatorade Endurance products as you "Dial It In" with your training details this month! Shawn studies and lectures on the physiology, all while putting himself through the rigor of ultra running. In this conversation, we talk specifically about running ultramarathons and what that does to your body. You’ll hear what occurs in the body during a 100-mile race that doesn’t happen during a marathon, optimal fueling strategies for ultra-endurance, the most prevalent myth surrounding ultras, and a lot more. You might have read his work that he publishes regularly on the Trail Runner magazine website or perhaps you’ve read his book, The Happy Runner. You can hear me talk about that book with David’s wife Megan in episode 82 of The Strength Running Podcast. David isn’t just an incredibly talented trail runner, he’s a wonderful writer and a coach who works with a wide variety of athletes. With his legal background, David is able to clearly explain some difficult concepts which is just why I wanted to have him on the show today. We cover the benefits of doing long runs and discuss the details of: Aerobic endurance Musculoskeletal strength Metabolic adaptation Mental resilience Improved mechanics Truly, there's so much to gain from going long. I love David's focus on feeling good, even during those grueling long runs. Hint: fartleks are a key part of it. He approaches workouts with the long view in mind, rather than having his athletes hammer out the hardest possible workout. "I won’t use my voice unless I can back up whatever argument I’m trying to make. But I’ve gotten increasingly more comfortable putting myself in those situations and taking a stance on something and then being able to back it up, whether it’s systemic racism, whether it’s diversity in the sport, whether it’s how we should be handling the pandemic right now as runners. We all have thoughts on those things. A lot of us are afraid to share those thoughts. Not all of us have platforms where we can share those thoughts and have it have an impact, and I am very cognizant of the fact that I do, and I want to make sure I’m using my platform for good in those ways and spurring up healthy conversation and debate." Today, we wrap up the On the Record series with Mario Fraioli, host of The Morning Shakeout podcast and creator of The Morning Shakeout newsletter. Mario comes to podcasting with a background in journalism: He's a longtime sports writer and was the editor of Competitor magazine. On this episode, Mario talks about taking that journalistic approach when it comes to having conversations with running's top athletes, and opens up about getting comfortable taking a stance and using his voice. And he explains why sometimes, you have to let the silence do the work. Thank you to Gatorade Endurance for sponsoring this episode of the Ali on the Run Show! "What matters most to me is talking about athletes, especially female athletes, in the way that I would want someone to ask me questions. Our interview this week is with the Co-founder of iKOR Labs, Mark Fleming. We are going to get your questions answered about CBD. Why are endurance athletes using it? How are they using it? Is it legal? What benefits does it provide? Who's using it? How to take it? Thanks to last week's guests, professional triathlete Timothy O'Donnell. I'm very excited to bring you Mark Fleming and iKOR. When I first discovered iKOR, it was 2017 under the pre 2018 WADA and USADA rules and I honestly decided to not pursue this as a topic for the podcast. I researched the WADA and USADA sites. I researched the USAT position and at that time there was not a clear distinction between THC and CBD. In January of 2018, CBD was removed from the WADA and USADA banned substance list. I got reconnected with Mark Fleming and Craig Sweeney at the Sansego camp here in Boulder. As we talked more and I tried it for myself, I have noticed an incredible difference in my recovery and reduced inflammation most of all. For Episode 97 of The BibRave Podcast, we're excited to partner with our friends at Gatorade Endurance to bring to you a conversation with Katie Hynes, a sports nutritionist who is also a speedy marathoner that runs with the BibRave Portland crew. You may remember Katie from her blog post on how to stay “on pace” with your eating habits over the holidays, and her feature on The BibRave Bonus Mile: Safety Edition. First, we discuss how Katie's passion for running inspired her to pivot her career to become a sports nutritionist. We then dive into the science behind hydration and nutrition, as it relates to endurance events, what adaptations happen in the body that make it trickier to master, and how runners should approach finding a good strategy for their own body. This one starts off with a bang. Randy recovers from his "Gas Guzzler" suggestion with podcast gold arguing that H eclipses Coffee in terms of its addictive properties. This show note editor found it hilarious when I listened. The guys then discuss some backlash and a slight lack of professionalism exhibited by Normatec VP Kristian Pearson following our side-by-side between RecoveryPump and Normatec. The Octane guys kept it professional with Mr. Pearson offering for him to join the show to discuss Normatec in greater detail. This is the third such invite that was made to Normatec. We shall see where that goes. In the mean time, listen to Episode 29 to get full coverage on the recovery boot challenge we did between RecoveryPump and Normatec. Randy discusses taking the Colorado pancake challenge. See the attached pictures to get an idea of this thing. The last segment of the show is some Q&A about Power Meters and how coaches look at and use metrics like heart rate, cadence, power, etc. Finally, we announce new ways that you, our listeners, can get involved in the show....Call us. In this episode, we are joined by Brian Carberry and Andrew "Red" Readinger from RecoveryPump.During this episode, we talk in detail about the technology and science related to the kind of therapy that is provided by RecoveryPump. We then put the RecoveryPump to the test against it's competition, Normatech, side-by-side. Mike has never used any kind of recovery boot before and Dave has been an avid boot user for a couple of years and both of the guys strap in for a test drive in them. We shot two videos that you will want to check out. This first video is one that Randy shot where he unboxes the device and walks you through the components. He explains what they do and some of the settings in depth. This second video is one that Randy shot of Dave and Mike in the boots. Dave in the RecoveryPump and Mike with one leg in the RecoveryPump and one in the Normatech. The findings from both of the guys is interesting. The results this therapy has produced for those suffering from arterial and venous disease, lymphedema and other circulatory problems like diabetes have been tremendous.Further research revealed that this same technology could prove equally beneficial to athletes. Scientific evidence abounds in support of the use of sequential compression to expedite recovery, but RecoveryPump became excited by the prospect of sharing these benefits firsthand with the athletic community. What they believed from the start has proven to be true - once you try RecoveryPump and experience the benefits it provides, you'll be a believer in this type of recovery treatment and specifically, RecoveryPump's unique way of delivering it.From the average Joe's to Ironman Triathletes to Pros like 2015 NBA League MVP Stephen Curry and Carly Lloyd from the US Women's National Soccer Team and Professional Triathlete and Ironman Champion Meredith Kessler, RecoveryPump is the best weapon on the market to achieve #LessPainMoreGain.Helpful Links for Recovery Pump:RecoveryPump Twitter FeedRecoveryPump Instagram FeedPLEASE RATE THE PODCAST HERELike the Octane Athletics facebook page at facebook.com/OctaneAthleticsFollow Octane on twitter at twitter.com/octaneUSAFollow Dave on twitter at twitter.com/bigdave4Follow Randy on twitter at twitter.com/randymessmanFollow Mike on twitter at twitter.com/tridailycoachSupport the Podcast by doing your shopping on Amazon.com. Coach Dave finished Ironman Texas in The Woodlands, TX on May 16. It was a long and painful day for him and the guys talk about how the race went and the lessons learned. Dave finished the race in 16 hours and 50 minutes, which is a longer day that many expected but the performance was a gutsy one. The guys discuss Dave's near term triathlon future. Once they get through that discussion the guys discuss the WTC/Ironman announcement that was made on the heels of the US DOJ declaring that Ironman broke the law with it's execution of the Kona lottery system. You didn't hear about that? Ironman was made to pay around $2.8m in fines to the US DOJ. The $2.8m of athlete money. A day later, Ironman announced it was opening their own coaching certification process. For $600 Ironman will "certify" a coach to work with athletes for their Ironman pursuits. The process seems interestingly simple. No pre-requisites. 14 hours of web-based training and then pass a test and BOOM... you're a certified coach. Coach Dave goes on a bit of a rant on this. Coach Mike reigns him in on that. It's an interesting discussion.PLEASE RATE THE PODCAST HERELike the Octane Athletics facebook page at facebook.com/OctaneAthleticsFollow Octane on twitter at twitter.com/octaneUSAFollow Dave on twitter at twitter.com/bigdave4Follow Randy on twitter at twitter.com/randymessmanFollow Mike on twitter at twitter.com/tridailycoachBe sure to check out octane-athletics.com. This one is not as tame as the others have been, but it is pretty darned funny. Mostly because Mike, Randy and Dave discuss the interactions with some knuckleheads they've come across in their years in endurance sports. The guys even admit to their own episodes of douchbaggery. Have fun with this one as you listen. That's the point of the episode, to have some fun. This episode is funny and the examples are real. Randy and Dave discuss observations and happenings from Ironman 70.3 Texas which happened in Galveston, TX on April 26, 2015. Dave had 4 athletes in the race and two of them Terry and AnnMarie Wilson's race day went differently than any one of us thought it would. The guys are interrupted by a phone call that is audible over a bluetooth speaker that Dave forgot to disconnect before the recording which turned into a pretty funny discussion and request from Dave to Apple as well as a discussion about the Apple Watch. At the end of the podcast, Dave shares his interesting learning from the flights to and from Chicago.
