You can even watch it on the web.Devin: Amanda, what do you see as your superpower?Amanda: When Josh first reached out to me, he graduated from NYU Stern Business School. He brought in a few of his middle school friends. I was actually very self-conscious because I didn't really know anything about business. I didn't have a business background or anything like that, but I realized pretty quickly that my superpower is not necessarily the financial, logistical, the minute hard skills but more of the soft skills, more of the way that I relate to people, the way that I can understand people, the way that we're working with teenagers.Devin: Amogh, what do you think is your superpower?Amogh: I think my superpower lies in the fact that I am young, and I drive youth empowerment, youth leadership.Devin: Gavin, what is your superpower?Gavin: I wanted to use my superpower and engage students. So actually, with the organization I helped with, with their first-ever networking workshop. So, I show students how to use LinkedIn, how to send messages to politicians, industry professionals.Years ago, I had Joshua's Heart Foundation's founder, Joshua Williams, on the show to talk about his remarkable organization. At the time, he was a young teenager and had already been at work feeding people who were hungry and food insecure for nearly a decade. When he launched the effort, he understood he was creating a movement to feed those who need help but likely didn't fully appreciate the more radical impact he was having by empowering children and teenagers to lead.Recently, we reconnected, and he introduced me to some of the young people who lead the effort today.Amanda Aviles serves on the newly constituted National Advisory Board. Members of the board are Joshua's Heart alumni volunteers scattered around the country. Some participated with Joshua as peers in the earliest days when their little hands and arms couldn't carry much food but when their minds could immediately grasp the impact of providing food to someone who needed it.Gavin Poore and Amogh Baranwal are both in high school. They are members of the Junior Advisor Board, which has the primary responsibility for leading the organization. They are two of the day-to-day leaders. Both trace their roots in the organization back in time for years. Amogh shared his recollection of volunteering at age six:The one memory that I have that has always stuck with me is that when I was in line, we used to have people come to us, and we would shop with them like a grocery store, so they would get to choose exactly what they wanted to take home. A family came with another six-year-old, and this was the first time I had seen someone who looked like me–we're the same age, we might have gone to the same school, or we might have had similar life experiences at that age. When I gave his family that box of food, I saw his smile brighten up. I was shocked. Something that I take for granted. I never think, “When's the next food going to be on the table?” Or when the next family dinner is going to be. It's something that just happens. So, to see someone my age see so much joy from something that I took for granted really opened my eyes to the many problems that many people face–even at six years old. So, it is cool to tell people that I started volunteering when I was six, but it's sad to know that there are six-year-olds who didn't get that same opportunity because of the circumstances they were put in. So ever since that day, I have been grateful for our Foundation for giving me these opportunities and allowing me to experience giving back firsthand. His story represents well the experiences of other young people who volunteered regularly with Joshua's Heart. The truly remarkable things about the nonprofit founded by a four-year-old may not be the people it feeds but the leaders it builds.AI Episode Summary* This is an interview with three young people involved with Joshua's Heart Foundation: Amanda Aviles, Gavin Poore, and Amogh Baranwal.* Joshua's Heart Foundation was started in 2005 by a young boy named Joshua who had a passion for feeding the hungry.* The foundation's primary mission is to fight hunger and engage and empower youth in that fight.* The organization is facing the challenge of keeping its founders and early participants involved while preserving the youth-led nature of the organization.* The organization is split into three parts: core volunteers, a junior advisory board, and a national advisory board.* Amanda Aviles believes her superpower is her ability to connect with people and understand them, particularly younger individuals.* Amogh Baranwal believes his superpower lies in his youth and the ability to empower and inspire other young people.* Gavin Poore sees his superpower as youth engagement, helping other young people find their voice and engage in positive change.* The organization can be supported through donations, and volunteers are accepted, but mainly from the South Florida area.* The best way to stay in touch with the organization is through its website and social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn.Guest ProfilesAmanda Aviles (she/her):Director of Strategy, Joshua's Heart FoundationAbout Joshua's Heart Foundation: Joshua's Heart Foundation (JHF) was founded in 2005 in Miami Beach, Fla. by Joshua Williams when he was four years old. - No celebrating; Jason went straight home after the trade deadline closed. He will have a bottle of red over the weekend.- How the JHF deal came about. “We kept an eye on his situation and had some dialogue with his manager. It did open up as a genuine chance until after the season finished. We think he's a generational talent”.- Was it a possibility that you might have to lose a player to get this deal done? “Our players wanted to stay at the footy club, and we were happy to get this done without losing any emerging talent”.- Is the go-home factor real? “We face this every year. What is critical is the club's culture and the quality of the leaders in the playing group. When free agency came in, that removed the need for players to play their entire career at one club”.- Would you still back yourselves to draft someone from interstate who was vocal about wanting to go home down the track? “We'd back ourselves and our culture to be able to retain that player if its someone we were dead set keen on”.- On Junior Rioli. “He's a match-winner in the forward half, and we were very keen to get him in. he's got family close to SA, and the family has a connection with Ken Hinkley. Ken coached Junior's dad early in his coaching career”.- On Asava Ratagolea not getting to Port Adelaide. “Pick 33 was on the table. It was Geelong's prerogative not to do the deal. He was desperate to get to our footy club, and I feel really bad for him”. “His manager was disappointed as well, you'd need to ask Geelong why pick 33 wasn't enough for a guy who only played four games last season”.- Will you have a crack again next year? “Obviously, 12 months is a long time, but it is well documented that we need some key backs to help there. We'll keep tracking Asava throughout next season”.

- Full rundown of the Mega trade that sees Horne-Francis coming to Port Adelaide. Izak Rankine deal also confirmed. - Bryce goes through Port Adelaide's midfield and Adelaide's forward line for 2023.- Hayesy thinks Rankine can pinch hit in the middle of the ground ala Shai Bolton.JHF doing some media today. Bryce says he's naturally a shy kid but improving in front of a microphone. Hayesy is concerned that Jason needs a decent haircut.
- Gibbs and Cooney chat about JHF's attitude and how that will improve being back home.- Deals still to come. Ratagalea should get done and may help facilitate the Ollie Henry deal.- Brody Grundy's deal will also get done. Likely for pick 27 and an adjustment of how much salary Collingwood pays.- Josh Dunkley deal is a fascinating one. Brisbane traded pick 15 away because the Dogs didn't want it. Brissy needs to trade up no to land him.- GWS very happy to nab pick one and will likely select key forward Cadman.- Is Rankine highly rated in Victoria? The only question mark on him is how he will handle being under the spotlight of the Adelaide media.- Plenty of action this year, and Cons thinks it's the start of a new era with more trading between clubs to become the norm.
With both South Australian AFL clubs completing blockbuster trades yesterday, it was a monster show, with our listeners providing plenty of the content this morning. Over half a dozen callers and countless texts from Crows and Port Adelaide fans excited about their club landing their trade targets. North Melbourne has not spoken to Riley Bonner but is looking at a three-way deal to get JHF to Port Adelaide. Involves West Coast's pick 2. Crows CEO Tim Silvers is confident that the Izak Rankine deal will get done soon.
Hayesy's curiosity was peaked at the T20 clash last night by a drunken spectator who needed some assistance after getting stuck into the sponsor's product on a Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Bryce straightened up the cricket chat with skippers Aaron Finch's return to form the top of his list of takeaways from last night's clash. A quick recap of the JHF situation was again called for followed by a story about an unfortunate groom who dislocated his elbow after biting off more than he could chew on the dance floor at his own wedding.
Adelaides gun sports journalist is SEN's Michelangelo Rucci, and he spoke with Bryce and Hayesy this morning to look into the most significant stories involving the SA-based AFL clubs.JHF three-way trade with West Coast involved. Rooch can understand them wanting plenty back for pick 2.Esava Ratagolea deal is absolutely on. Geelong's messaging has changed.Izak Rankine deal will get done today.Richard Douglas thinks Jake Soligo will be better than JHF.
Thursday morning saw both boys rocking shorts in the studio, a sign of the loose things to come. Hayesy always puts on a calf show, but he was more interested in talking about pies. The best pies in Australia are apparently found at the Whittlesea Bakehouse in Victoria and Hayesy wanted to know where the best pies in SA are. Hayesy and Bryce revisited an old favourite with the cheating scandal in the Chess world gathering steam over the last week. Once the boys straightened up it was the JHF trade top of the list with Fox Sports jounro David Zita breaking the story yesterday that the west Coast Eagles could be getting involved in a potential three-way deal to get JHF to Alberton. Zita joined the guest list for today's program to explain the brain-melting trade in detail, and other footy news, including the independent panel formed to investigate the allegations of racism against the former Hawthorn Footy department. AFLW continues this weekend, and the Crow's Hannah Munyard phoned in to have a chat about this weekend's clash with Fremantle. And Port Adelaide skipper, and AFLW royalty, Erin Phillips also phoned in to give Hayesy some stick about his perennial shorts-wearing. Phillips also discussed how her team is going ahead of this weekend's clash with hawthorn, and what her plans are for after footy, including a potential return to the basketball court.
It's the return of the 2 Dan Crew with JHF sitting this one out. Won't lie it gets a little out of control, but hope you enjoy it!
Adelaide's sports guru Michelangelo Rucci looks East at the mess in Melbournes North with both Essendon and North Melbourne under fire. Rooch also looks back at some of the massive footy stories in Adelaide's past to answer the question of where does the JHF trade story rank in local footy folklore.

Susan Ryan is joined by Carol Silver Elliott, president and CEO of Jewish Home Family (JHF), a nonprofit aging services organization located in northern New Jersey. In this first episode of Elevate Eldercare, Carol’s tenacity and acumen as a leader is evident as she describes how she took a chaotic crisis and applied strategic systems to create real solutions. She recounts poignant stories and the unique challenges presented by JHF’s close proximity to New York City, the epicenter of the virus at that time. While her fierce love of elders is obvious, Carol is also transparent about her organization’s harrowing experiences. She describes creative approaches to remaining calm amid a crisis, which were accomplished, in part, by fostering among her staff ingenuity in the face of adversity. Find out more about The Green House Project at its website, www.thegreenhouseproject.org. Follow Carol Silver Elliott on LinkedIn and at the Times of Israel Blog.
Jonathan Weinkle, MD, is a general internist and general pediatrician who came to medicine after deciding against careers as a philosopher or a rabbi and is the author of Healing People, Not Patients. He starts off by teaching us how he was able to write a book about his patient interactions without violating HIPAA. His book illustrates the many ways in which it is important to really know our patients as people in order to effectively treat them. The paradox of this is that there never seems to be enough time to do this well, so Dr. Weinkle teaches us how to connect without losing efficiency. While cultural competency is usually discussed, Dr. Weinkle believes that cultural humility really the key – recognizing we don’t know what we don’t know about someone else’s culture. How to keep moving through a visit if you are really listening “with both ears,” but the patient continues to repeat themselves as if you aren’t listening. He also discusses the importance of allowing the patient to set the agenda and then establishing limits to that agenda at the start of the visit. He practices primary care medicine at the Squirrel Hill Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center and certified Patient Centered Medical Home, providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages with and without insurance and representing a broad diversity of languages, faiths, cultures, native lands, and socioeconomic backgrounds. In addition, Dr. Weinkle serves as a medical advisor to the Closure project of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF), a project intended to improve the quality of care and change the individual experience at end-of-life. Under the auspices of the JHF, he is crafting a program to help clinicians master the core competency of respectful communication with patients and families, based largely on the ideas in this book and the research underlying it. Finally, Dr. Weinkle serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Family Medicine at his alma mater, and as Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Studies Program at Chatham University. Driving all of these endeavors is a strong commitment to infusing his interactions with patients with the core values of his Jewish faith, beginning with the idea that both patient and provider are created in the Divine image and must act and be treated accordingly.
