We queried ChatGPT: “Tell me about Education and AI.” Response: AI has the potential to revolutionize education. With AI-powered tools, teachers can analyze student performance data, adapt teaching methods to suit individual students' needs, automate administrative task to free up time for lesson planning and support for students, identify patterns and trends in student data, and inform curriculum decisions. Some worry about AI algorithm bias toward certain students or groups. We asked ChatGPT: “Will human teachers be replaced by robot teachers?” Response: While there have been significant advancements in AI and robotics, it is unlikely that human teachers will be completely replaced by robot teachers. The most effective approach is likely to be a combination of human teachers and technology. We also asked ChatGPT for fictional movie quotes about Teachers. – “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” – Dead Poets Society, 1989 – “It's not about how much you know. It's about how effectively you can share that knowledge with others.” – The Karate Kid, 1984 –“Teaching is not about answering questions but about questioning answers.” – Mr. Holland's Opus, 1995 We'll ask Bob Ficken, Dr. Danielle Hankins, Brian Roemmele, Karen Gibson and Eric Myers for their take on The Future of Education and AI: Robot Substitute Teachers?

Recently Phil Knight, the billionaire co-founder of Nike, announced a new $400 million investment fund to support Black residents of Portland. The gift is meant to fund education services, art programs and other projects for Black Portlanders in the inner North and Northeast neighborhoods once known as Albina. Albina was the center of Black society and business in the 1950s, but by the 1980s it had been decimated after city-backed urban renewal projects leveled homes and community hubs. Karen Gibson, an emeritus professor at Portland State University, joins us with a history of the Albina neighborhood.

Tomorrow marks 25 years since one of the most significant moments in Northern Ireland's history: the Good Friday Agreement. It brought an end to decades of conflict largely between Protestant unionists and Catholic nationalists. But what was the role of churches and faith leaders in restoring peace and then maintaining it? Is music something that draws you to church, or keeps you away? The man in charge of evangelism in the Church of England says it can both attract and repel newcomers. The Rev Stephen Hance wants the church to offer a broader variety of music, to reflect our diverse backgrounds and tastes. He says the quality of music in church is also really important. We hear his thoughts along with those of Karen Gibson, conductor of the Kingdom Choir, a London based Gospel group. Hiking can be physically demanding, but imagine doing it while fasting. Muslim Hikers was set up in the Peak District during lockdown and they're marking the holy month of Ramadan in the great outdoors. Twenty year old Sidra Ali takes us along on her overnight retreat, following a route with newly installed wooden signs, pointing in the direction of Mecca. The Buzz 1: Raising kids is tough enough. Add the prospect of dating to the equation, and you've got quite a challenge. But regardless how your circumstance arose, you deserve to date… Divorced dads are usually dealing with limited time with their kids, so they can feel guilty about dating.…You'll know it's too soon to date if you need to talk incessantly about your former wife in glowing or not-so-glowing terms. [menshealth.com] The Buzz 2: “If you got married pre-Tinder and other dating apps, you might feel…like you're a pager guy in a world of smartphones. Apps can be great for some people, but it's important to remember they aren't the only way to find a partner… More conventional methods, like meeting someone through friends, are always an option.” [inverse.com] The Buzz 3: Dating can be difficult enough, right? Let alone with all the competition there seems to be in the dating world. The normal thing to do now is online dating, but how does online dating work when you are a single dad? What are the things you need to know and look out for when dating as a single father? With so many variables you need to consider, your children and your lifestyle and routine, how would an outsider fit into that routine and jive with your family's dynamic? In 2014 the biologist and presenter Gillian Burke joined a community choir in Falmouth in a bid to strengthen her voice. Singing is Gillian's passion and it's her way of switching off from work and the pressures of life. In this third programme Gillian speaks to the conductor of The Kingdom Choir, Karen Gibson. Karen grew up singing in church and Gospel groups, before graduating to the role of choir conductor on a BBC radio programme called The Gospel Train. She was asked to perform on the 35th anniversary of 'Songs of Praise', and The Kingdom Choir was born. In 2018 they stepped onto the global stage when they were invited to perform at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Gillian asks Karen about her route into Gospel music. They discuss Gospel as a vehicle for hope, and whether there's any tension between performing faith-based music on a commercial stage. And what, if anything, the environmental movement might learn from Gospel music's part in the American Civil Rights Movement. Produced for BBC Audio in Bristol by Toby Field.

The Buzz 1: Grateful people feel more optimistic and happy, better mitigate aversive experiences, and have stronger interpersonal bonds. Gratitude interventions have been shown to result in improved sleep, more frequent exercise, and stronger cardiovascular and immune systems. [psywb.springeropen.com] The Buzz 2: Children spend an average of 53 hours per week with digital media — video games, social media, reality TV, exposure to violence, virtual connections that replace face-to-face friendships – which researchers fear may be causing a decline in empathy. [doinggoodtogether.org] The Buzz 3: Expressing gratitude can positively change your brain. It boosts dopamine and serotonin, the neurotransmitters in the brain that improve your mood immediately, giving you those positive feelings of pleasure, happiness, and well-being. [healthcare.utah.edu] The Buzz 4: Gratitude apps will help you improve your mood by focusing on the good things in your life. If we don't learn how to shine Love and Light on our inner child, we may subconsciously pass on unhealthy habits to our children. As a parent coach and educator, Karen Gibson will share how to start healing your inner child to empower the way you parent your children. The biggest predictor of how we will be as parents is how we perceive our past. So, it's vital to acknowledge our childhood wounds to start the healing process if we want to be better present-day parents. Being aware of our triggers will help us trace back our feelings to specific childhood events that continue to trigger our inner child as adults. Listening to our unresolved feelings such as anger over unmet needs, rejection, insecurity, and anxiety while giving ourselves permission to experience and empathize instead of pushing them away is the key to identifying and validating the emotional pain we experienced in our childhood. Children will benefit from their parents healing their inner child, so they don't have to suffer from the same triggers their parents suffer as adults.

The Buzz 1: “There is a charm to letters and cards that emails and smses can't ever replicate, you cannot inhale them, drawing the fragrance of the place they have been mailed from, the feel of paper in your hand bearing the weight of the words contained within. You cannot rub your fingers over the paper and visualise the sender, seated at a table, writing, perhaps with a smile on their lips or a frown splitting the brow.” (Kiran Manral, The Face at the Window) The Buzz 2: “I've seen teenagers, young adults and grandparents cry after receiving a letter. That's the power we all possess. That's why I speak on the subject of Encouragement through the art of writing letters.” (Alexey Katko, 1000LettersOfEncouragement.com) The earliest letter was sent around 500 BC by Queen Atossa of Persia. Although paper was invented in 105 A.D, it wasn't until 1702 that it became cheap enough for people to afford it. On July 26, 1775, the US Post Office was created by the 2nd Continental Congress, to connect the people of America. At that time, it took 14 days for a letter to travel 100 miles. Now a letter from Hawaii to NY takes 3-7 days. Today, for $0.55 postage +$0.005 for paper + $0.15 for an envelope + $1 pen + 10 minutes of time, you can write a letter of encouragement and lift-up another person who can change the world around them. Letters remain a gem in human history. And new communication platforms like Clubhouse also help people connect to share meaningful encouragement. We'll ask Alexey Katko, Karen Gibson, MissG and Deslynn Jacquais for their take on The Future of Encouragement: Old-Fashioned Letter Writing & New-Media Clubhouse.

Before the shattered windows were swept up in the January attack on the Capitol, the sergeants at arms of both the House and Senate, and the chief of the Capitol Police were all gone. Solving the long-term security issues for the Capitol falls to a new crew. For one view of what's ahead, Federal Drive with Tom Temin turned to one member of that crew, the new Senate Sergeant at Arms Ret. Army Lt. Gen. Karen Gibson.

“Vague wishes to improve my work life balance which have been in my mind for the last 5 years, have now been clearly detailed and actioned”   This was part of a review somebody left on this podcast a few weeks ago and it really intrigued me.   How many of us have listened to a podcast, or read a book or watched a video and felt motivated or inspired to do something, but then nothing changes.   We can't (and don't need to!) put absolutely everything that we learn into action, but I also know that the thing most of us struggle with is bridging the gap between knowing and doing. Doing things differently enough such that it brings about positive change.   I was delighted to track down the lady who wrote those words, Karen Gibson, and was even more grateful that she agreed to come on as a guest herself!   In our conversation she explains a little more about what she did, what had stopped her in the past, how she started to put the ideas into practice, and the difference it's made to her.   Everybody's situation is different of course, and there are plenty of general lessons in this that could be applied to yours.

Throughout history, kings and queens have rewarded those who have shown service, loyalty or gallantry with gifts or titles. In 1917 the Queen's grandfather, George V, developed a new order of chivalry, called the Order of the British Empire, as a way of rewarding both men and women who had made an outstanding contribution to the WWI war effort. Nowadays the Order of the British Empire is given for a variety of reasons such as:· making a difference in your community or field of work· long-term voluntary service· innovation and entrepreneurship· improving life for people less able to help themselves and · displaying moral courageHonours are also given to people involved in various fields including:· arts and media· health· sport· education· science and technology and · business and the economyKaren Gibson was included in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List. So, who is Karen Gibson? Most of us know her as the vivacious lady who conducted her choir, The Kingdom Choir, through a gospel take of the 1960’s Ben E King song 'Stand by Me' at Meghan and Harry Royal Wedding. But there is a lot more to Karen and to her career than this one appearance. Meghan and Harry’s wedding was not the first royal gig for the Kingdom Choir. In 2000, The Kingdom Choir won a religious music competition organized by UK BBC Radio 2. In 2002 they were nominated for best U.K. choir at the Oasis Gospel Awards; that year, they were invited to perform at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Golden Jubilee. They would go on to perform for Bill Clinton and Desmond Tutu, and the choir has performed alongside the likes of Elton John, The Spice Girls, and Luther Vandross. The wedding performance opened up new opportunities for Karen and choir. They signed a record deal, went of tours, posted loads of you tube videos, and were involved with TV ads including the 2018 Christmas Coca Cola ad., when the choir re-recorded the anthem Wonderful Dream (Holidays Are Coming). Karen is well deserving of her MBE for services to music. Speaking to the UK Mirror newspaper Karen describes it as a surprise and a shock but a tremendous honour adding it means such a lot. Karen says it is wonderful to be celebrated for the work that she has done for years and years, when she thought nobody was looking. She remains quite humble saying there are a thousand other people out there who are more worthy than she. Well Done Karen!Remember to check out my blog at www.kindthoughtsformeghanmarkle.com

British Gymnastics, the UK governing body for the sport of gymnastics, has announced that there will be an independent review following concerns raised by several British athletes about a culture of mistreatment and abuse. These allegations follow similar conversations that are happening in America because of a new Netflix documentary exploring the Larry Nassar scandal. So what fuels a culture of neglect? And what are people within the gymnastic community hoping will happen now? Jenni discusses with a woman called 'Sarah' who has four daughters, all of whom trained in gymnastics and experienced varying degrees of abuse, and Nicole Pavier, a retired member of the senior England gymnastic squad. A pair of glamorous strangers, a bunch of adolescent siblings and some distracted adults sharing a beach for one long hot summer. Sounds like the perfect recipe for sexual intrigue and disaster.
