Wonderfully Made #RTTBROS #nightlight Fearfully and Wonderfully Made "For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." - Psalm 139:13-14 (KJV) In the quiet moments following the birth of a child, we are granted a glimpse into the divine miracle of life. The Psalmist David, in his profound wisdom, captures the awe-inspiring nature of our creation in Psalm 139. As we reflect on the arrival of a new life, we are reminded of the intricate handiwork of our Creator. From the very beginning, God's presence is evident in the formation of life. The phrase "thou hast covered me in my mother's womb" speaks to the tender care and protection God provides even before we take our first breath. It's a beautiful reminder that each life is purposefully crafted by the Master Artist. The Psalmist goes on to declare, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." These words resonate deeply when we consider the complexity of the human body and the uniqueness of each individual. From the first cell division to the development of intricate organ systems, every stage of growth is a testament to God's marvelous works. As we hold a newborn, we can't help but marvel at the perfection of tiny fingers and toes, the softness of new skin, and the miracle of a beating heart. Each feature serves as a reminder of God's attention to detail and His infinite wisdom in design. Furthermore, the Psalm reminds us that God's knowledge of us is intimate and complete: "My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." - Psalm 139:15-16 (KJV) This passage beautifully illustrates that God knows us completely, even before we are fully formed. He sees our potential, our purpose, and our path in life from the very beginning. As we welcome new life into the world, let us be reminded of the sacred nature of each person's existence. May we approach each day with gratitude for the gift of life and with reverence for the Creator who fashioned us so wonderfully. Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the miracle of life and for the precious gift of children. Help us to see Your handiwork in every person we encounter and to treat each life with the respect and love it deserves. May we never lose our sense of awe at the wonder of Your creation. In Jesus' name, Amen. https://linktr.ee/rttbros Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. https://linktr.ee/rttbros

From the Dagger Award–winning author of Norwegian by Night comes a vivid, thrilling, and moving World War II art-heist-adventure tale where enemies become heroes, allies become villains, and a child learns what it means to become an adult—for fans of All the Light We Cannot See. August, 1943. Fourteen-year-old Massimo is all alone. Newly orphaned and fleeing from Rome after surviving the American bombing raid that killed his parents, Massimo is attacked by thugs and finds himself bloodied at the base of the Montecassino. It is there in the Benedictine abbey's shadow that a charismatic and cryptic man calling himself Pietro Houdini, the self-proclaimed “Master Artist and confidante of the Vatican,” rescues Massimo and brings him up the mountain to serve as his assistant in preserving the treasures that lay within the monastery walls. But can Massimo believe what Pietro is saying, particularly when Massimo has secrets too? Who is this extraordinary man? When it becomes evident that Montecassino will soon become the front line in the war, Pietro Houdini and Massimo execute a plan to smuggle three priceless Titian paintings to safety down the mountain. They are joined by a nurse concealing a nefarious past, a café owner turned murderer, a wounded but chipper German soldier, and a pair of lovers along with their injured mule, Ferrari. Together they will lie, cheat, steal, fight, kill, and sin their way through battlefields to survive, all while smuggling the Renaissance masterpieces and the bag full of ancient Greek gold they have rescued from the “safe keeping” of the Germans. Broken Crayons #RTTBROS #nightlight Broken Crayons "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." (2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV) Have you ever reached for a crayon to color only to find it broken in half or worn down to a nub? In our disappointment, we tend to cast those crayons aside, assuming they're useless now. However, with just a little more effort, those same broken crayons can still create beautiful artwork. Like crayons, we sometimes feel useless when life has left us feeling broken. We tell ourselves the lie that God can no longer use cracked vessels like us. But the truth is, our broken places, rather than disqualifying us, make room for God's light to shine through more beautifully. The apostle Paul spoke of this paradox, reminding followers of Christ that the treasure of the gospel dwells within imperfect earthen vessels. In other words, broken crayons still color the same. God is the ultimate recycler and redeemer, able to gather up the fragments of our broken dreams and relationships in order to repurpose them into something new. He knows how to take our mess and turn it into a message, using the cracks in our lives to reveal His light within. Our imperfections are not obstacles for an all-powerful God. Rather, they provide an opportunity for His grace, mercy and healing to be shown as sufficient to restore our soul. So when you feel like a worn out, broken crayon today, remember that you were designed to color. Allow God to take your life in all its fractures and flaws, and turn it into a work of art that displays His redemption for the world to see. Even broken crayons still color the same in the hand of the Master Artist. In this episode we discuss the difference between allowing ourselves to be shaped by God (becoming) and striving (do it yourself, try hard, push). Let's challenge one another to surrender to the Creator God and Master Artist, hand Him the paintbrush of our lives, and show us His path, as we trust Him. We are not self-improvement-project's, rather, we're created with beauty and goodness for a purpose. Let's live this way, and enjoy the inner peace that follows. Hallmark artist and creator Tammy Haddix joins Tim to talk about one of America's more lasting holiday traditions, our holiday ornaments and decorating the Christmas tree. Tammy tells her own story as a member of the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Studio, as a mother and a wife, and how all of that comes to play when she helps make the holidays that much more special for Americans across the country. This encore episode was originally released November 30, 2020. https://traffic.libsyn.com/secure/shapingopinion/Encore_-_Hallmark_Keepsakes.mp3 The Christmas tree made its American debut in the 1700s. German mercenary soldiers who were fighting in the Revolutionary War brought the Christmas tradition with them. But it wasn't until German and English immigrants came to America in the 1840s and decorated those trees with ornaments that the trees and the ornaments would become hugely popular. Back in 1973, Hallmark introduced a new line of Christmas ornaments. The line consisted of six glass ball ornaments and 12 yarn figures. These are considered the first in a line the company calls its “Keepsake Ornaments,” combining a touch of Hallmark creativity and polish, with a feel of homemade warmth. Since that humble start, the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament line has brought more than 9,500 Keepsake Ornaments to America. The way the company describes it, Hallmark wanted to create ornaments with magical qualities that recalled a nostalgic feel, that celebrated holiday traditions, that recalled Christmas memories. If you were to visit your nearby Hallmark store, or visit the company's online site, you'd find a wall packed with a Hallmark Keepsake ornament for nearly every taste or sentiment. Everything from characters from your favorite movies or sports teams, to your favorite cartoon characters or holiday traditions, all artfully depicted in brilliant detail. Tammy Haddix has worked in the Keepsake Sculpting Studio since 1996, and has been with Hallmark for 32 years. Then in 1996 she transferred to the Keepsake Sculpting Studio and began a 24-year sculpting career that she absolutely loves.

10/16/22 Every single person has been fearful and wonderfully designed by the Master Creator in His very image. His desire is that we would come to the understanding on how loved we truly are, and how much He values each one of us. Join us this week as DT speaks about the process of having your mind renewed by this truth, and how the results of stepping into our true identity will drastically impact the world around us.
Uncertainty. Unprecedented. Unpredictable. All of these words have been (over)used to describe this current season of our lives. We struggle to find meaning in the ordinary, peace in the busyness, and the fullness of life when life itself seems to have been upended. While we can all learn from the past, Scripture insists our destiny in Christ is to display God's workmanship in us. It happens when we open ourselves to the Master Artist doing His work unhindered on the canvas of our souls. And the church, our church, is meant to be like an art gallery, a collection of hundreds of God's masterpieces, working in tandem, like a tapestry of great, beautiful, and awe-inspiring design, bringing hope and healing to a hurting and needy world. Join us this weekend as we launch into a three-week series called HEAL, where we will look at God's calling and vision for us as a church for the next five years. Imagine what would happen if we took the gospel and become the church in our neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools as God's agents of healing through Christ working in and through us!
It's been an incredible week at Riverbluff's 2022 VBS! GOD has done some amazing things in the lives of many children, teens, and even the ministry partners! This week's theme verse for VBS is Ephesians 2:10. The entire week was all about how GOD, the Master Artist, is working to redeem, reclaim, and transform us, His creation, to the original design He planned for us. We are HIS “Masterpiece” in Christ Jesus! Disastrously, there is a great soul destroying scheme that the ancient enemy of the LORD has deployed. It sets out to deface and deform GOD's great work in us. When we succumb to that scheme, much devastation eventually follow; but JESUS has given HIS followers specific ways to overcome this evil scheme! In this message, Pastor Joe Still leads us to look to JESUS for best ways to experience life as the “Masterpieces” HE created us to be!
In this week's episode, we share a recent conversation Alan had with James Bryan Smith about his latest book, The Good and Beautiful You. In it, he talks about who we really are in God. How has God created us to flourish? What does it look like to be fully alive inside? How do we discover the person Jesus created us to be? We think you're going to find this episode really helpful in answering questions like these. A few years ago, Alan and Gem wrote their book on the soul titled What Does Your Soul Love? There is such a difference between being a self that we define and being a soul made in the image of a good and beautiful God. We have no better sense of meaning, purpose or identity than one given by a Master Artist who created us as an expression of divine vision. God makes us special. In God we belong. James Bryan Smith is a professor of theology at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, where he also serves as the director of the Apprentice Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation. He is a founding member of Richard J. Foster's spiritual renewal ministry, Renovaré, and is an ordained United Methodist Church minister, serving in various capacities in local churches. Jim is author of a number of best-selling books, including the Good and Beautiful series which includes The Good and Beautiful God, The Good and Beautiful Life, and The Good and Beautiful Community, and the latest in that series that we're talking about today, The Good and Beautiful You.
Latte and Laundry: A home for Catholic women, moms, and hearts
Each child is uniquely and perfectly crafted by our Heavenly Father. Yet, far too often, beginning from an early age, we mommas often feel the pressure of making sure our children conform to some arbitrary standard. It isn't necessarily that we desire to change who our children are, but rather that we operate out of a hidden fear that our children will suffer if they don't fit inside the world's box. But newsflash friends, God made no mistakes when he wonderfully knit your child within your womb. Whether short or tall, quiet or loud, tender or wild, introverted or extroverted, creative or athletic, each child is a unique masterpiece sculpted by the Master Artist himself. Hope this episode encourages you friends as we journey together in motherhood, wifehood and sisterhood. Let's connect, I love to hear from you! I remember the first time I ever did connect the dots was when I was in first grade. We were learning to write the alphabet, but what I really needed to learn was how to hold that huge pencil…Do you remember those? They were as big around as a redwood tree, and supposedly, when you learn to write by connecting the dots, you should have quality penmanship. But today my penmanship can be described as “Lower-Alabama Hieroglyphics.”A few years ago my daughter Gabrielle had a connect-the-dots book, and it was awesome. Each page consisted of 1,000 dots that, when connected, depicted the face of an iconic historical figure, such as Einstein, John Kennedy, etcetera. When Gabrielle finished her first page of 1,000 dots, I was astounded…there was the youthful face of Judy Garland. I thought about how every page in her book had the same number of dots, yet every picture was totally different. The individual dots looked the same, but the difference was in the placement of the dots. Of course, the dots are placed where they are by a master artist and designer. That is also true in life. God, the Master Artist and Designer of our life, has plans more beautiful than we can imagine. Sometimes we find ourselves asking what the next move is or what the purpose is in a particular circumstance. Although at times life's moments don't seem to connect and it is hard to see the big picture, as we follow His word daily, step by step, it starts coming together. Before God framed the universe, He had a unique plan for your life…dot by dot.

Episode Notes Seibi Lee: Leela Dance Collective Founding Artist, Artistic Director Seibi Lee is a consummate kathak artist known for her powerful mastery, refined musicality, and dramatic brilliance in character portrayal. Seibi is a distinguished disciple of the iconic kathak legend Pandit Chitresh Das. She is a founding artist at Leela Dance Collective and Dean at Leela San Francisco. Seibi has toured worldwide earning accolades and deep respect for her artistry. She received an Isadora Duncan Dance Special Award as part of the performing ensemble in Das's East As Center and received two subsequent nominations for performances in Pancha Jati and Shabd. As principal dancer of the Chitresh Das Dance Company, Seibi evolved a singular perspective and style through the development of virtuosic character roles in several of Das's critically acclaimed works: the scheming maidservant Mantara in Ramayana, the dual roles of the tormented demon Marich and beloved tribal prince Hanuman in Sita Haran, the belligerent General in Darbar, and in Das's final work, the electrifying Guru in Shiva. Her outstanding portrayal of Hanuman became the inspiration for the central character and creation of Leela Dance Collective's Son of the Wind – the full-length dance drama bringing to life Hanuman's rarely told heroic and valorous adventures from the epic Ramayana. Son of the Wind premiered at the Green Center in Sonoma in 2017, was featured at ODC Theatre in San Francisco in 2018, and in 2019 presented at the prestigious Royal Opera House in Mumbai, India and the Ford Theater in Hollywood. Seibi has a profound passion for the expansive philosophy, dynamic range, and sophisticated rhythmic mathematics integral to kathak and is dedicated to bringing this art form to the world. Highly regarded for her teaching, Seibi has mentored many generations of dancers and in 2016, she was recognized by The Alliance of California Traditional Arts as Master Artist. She has produced several featured shows including Pacific Pathways, Aarambh, and Harvest Moon Festival. Seibi continues to forge her own unique path within the artistic tradition and, with the support of both the Haas Foundation and a 2-year Artist in Residence with the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, conceived and choreographed the mesmerizing solo work Houyi and Chang'e, – the heart-rending tale of great heroism and of tragically star-crossed lovers. “Seibi Lee in the double roles of Marich, the retired roué, and as Hanuman, minister to Sugreeva, the wronged prince of the Monkeys, was magnificent” Rita Feliciano, Dance View “As the Indian general, Seibi Lee drew a clear character arc from subject to betrayer to fool, a remarkable achievement.” Claudia Bauer, SFGate ""Son of the Wind", a spectacular retelling of Ramyana episodes centered on Hanuman...I was struck both by the production's sophisticated conception and by the professionalism of its execution by an all-female cast of seventeen dancers. With its technical brilliance, emotional power, and reverent yet creative reinterpretation of sacred epic, 'Son of the Wind', staged by american women of a variety of ethnic backgrounds, was a world-class transnational dance theater that celebrated Indian performance traditions even as it innovated within them and challenged cultural stereotypes." We live in a secular age where self-esteem and self-empowerment are offered as vehicles to the "successful" life. Sadly, many churches now also promote such claims, teaching that man can attain health, happiness, and heaven on his own. Into this backdrop, Paul offers a pinpoint reminder that man is but the canvas in need of a Master Artist.
