Nidhi Pandya is an Ayurvedic Doctor, teacher, coach and speaker based in NYC. Immersed in Vedic wisdom from birth, she draws inspiration from her grandfather, a respected Ayurvedic healer. Her journey led her to formal education in holistic health, culminating in her becoming an Ayurvedic Doctor. However, Nidhi soon realized the limitations of a strictly prescriptive approach to health. This insight spurred her to reinterpret Ayurveda through a transformative lens, making ancient knowledge accessible and relevant in today's world. Today Nidhi's passion lies in empowering women to become self-aware and live intuitively, achieving Mind-Body Balance. Her Inner Climate Method, taught globally, focuses on realigning the mind and body, fostering radical transformation. She contributes to various publications and serves as a faculty member at the Shakti School. Today, Nidhi and Sasha explore what it means to Undo Oneself and our energetic debris (or Samsakaras), becoming a hollow vessel to abide in clarity and truth, generational wisdom, and why creating and maintaining a warm and moist inner climate through our dinacharya, ahara and vihara is essential for preserving fuel and fertility for women. We reflect on the opportunities we have to study, practice, and teach Ayurveda; knowledge that our mothers and grandmothers did not have. We abide in the shared truth that when women heal, families heal, communities heal, the world heals. And we are so excited to bring this to millions and billions of women around the world. We evolve in cycles. We just do. This episode will help you figure out where in your death-rebirth cycle you are, so you can orient yourself accordingly. I hope it really helps you in this tricky season of postpartum and motherhood! The steps we go over are: Initiation: chaos, identity disruption, mental or physical health issues, irritation, divorce, financial loss, death of loved one, etc. Worldview change in some way, and you can't go back. Ego Death: You feel "not normal for you"; You're trying to find your way but there is resistance. Opposition. You're searching for answers but not finding yet. Discouragement, panic, concern.... Surrender: You realize that the only way out, is through. You stop panicking, fighting, and you go inward. Surrender. Peace. You allow the flow of the experience to take you... You receive support.... (This is where the FEMININE ENERGY comes in. You begin to live more from the HEART space.) The Womb: You're being RE-organized, not DIS-organized. You see the purpose bit by bit to the pain. You begin to nurture your new emerging Self.... Maybe you hire a coach, start therapy, or see a doctor. Take action to put together pieces. Rebirth: You have more of a Mind-Body Balance. You live more in your body. You listen to Spirit and your Intuition more deeply. You are new. You have wisdom; you have perspective. You don't need anything to go away in order for you to be calm. You are not a victim, you are Victor. We will learn: How to listen to our autonomic nervous system. How our connection with other people and the world around us affects our nervous systems. How to anchor our nervous system to guide it back to safety. Do you feel anxious, stressed, or disconnected from your body? There's a really interesting theory called Polyvagal Theory that aims to explain why so many of our nervous systems are out of whack. It proposes that our nervous system has evolved to help us navigate social and environmental challenges. And it consists of three primary branches, each of which serves a different purpose and is associated with specific behaviors and physiological responses. So, how can you use mindfulness to befriend your nervous system and achieve mind-body balance with polyvagal theory? That's what we're talking about today. Our guest is Dr. Deb Dana. She's a clinician and consultant specializing in using the lens of Polyvagal Theory to understand and resolve the impact of trauma while honoring the role of the autonomic nervous system. She developed the Rhythm of Regulation Clinical Training Series and lectures internationally on ways Polyvagal Theory informs work with trauma survivors. Hippie is a term synonymous with the 1960s. In Europe Amsterdam was the hippie capital. The Netherlands had a reputation of a country with widespread tolerance and openness. The United States had Woodstock.Do these ideas of love, freedom, and joy still hold true today? Early in Kim’s career of starting Mind-Body Balance, she had a young vibrant creative photographer say you’re a sophisticated hippie. Not sure what that was she seemed to embrace it and agree with her. Some criteria that seem to be a common thread among the modern-day hippie are; -that all living organisms have a spirit-connection with nature-finding peace with consumerism and capitalism-reducing exposure to media-living sustainably -prioritize living over financial wealth-schooling alternatives-flexible schedules-barefoot footwear-sit on the floor more because sitting in a chair for long periods of time doesn’t feel good in the body-when they learn something they tend to travel to the source and learn it experiential-take vacations off the grid and in silence-a slower pace of life-they see opportunities and possibilities everywhere and understand they have choices-they follow their hearts and understand there is no prescribed path-the tendency toward LAT- Living Apart Together -relationships-approach everyone with a smile and as a friend-looking for freedom to move whichever way they want-in an age of segregation, they enjoy meeting people of like-minded souls.-a universal goal of love and peaceAre we so disconnected from our environments that we no longer care about nature, eating poison for food, are we all in burnout, are we only surviving?Today the ladies have a fun chat about the hopes and values of what was once considered the “counter culture” and what those might mean today.
