In Episode 10 of Badlands Book Club, CannCon and Ashe in America tackle Chapters 17 and 18 of Government Gangsters by Kash Patel, delivering one of the most explosive episodes to date. The discussion centers on January 6th, from Kash's firsthand account inside the Pentagon to the legal gymnastics used to sustain the insurrection narrative. The hosts highlight Trump's pre-event authorization of up to 20,000 National Guard troops, Muriel Bowser's signed rejection of federal support, and how Pelosi's team refused help—all while later demanding tanks and blaming Trump for the breach. They dig into the Justice Manual's pivotal role in DOJ weaponization, the unconstitutional detainment of J6 protesters, and the shameless show trial tactics of the January 6th Committee. With analysis of political prisoners, Ray Epps, Raytheon-funded riots, and the AutoPen pardon scandal, this episode is a masterclass in exposing narrative warfare. Ashe and CannCon close with reflections on the broader implications for the America First movement and what's next in the unraveling of deep state protection schemes. A must-watch for anyone serious about justice, truth, and restoring constitutional accountability.

This week's episode of Parsing Immigration Policy focuses on the re-opening of ICE's Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office. Originally established by the Trump administration in 2017 to provide critical support to victims and families affected by crimes linked to illegal immigration, the VOICE office was shut down by the Biden administration, but has been reinstated by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.ImageGuest host Jessica Vaughan, Director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, is joined by two parents who lost their children to crimes committed by illegal aliens. They share their personal stories and experiences, highlighting how the VOICE office provided them with support and resources.Don Rosenberg, President of Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime (AVIAC), whose son Drew was killed by an unlicensed illegal immigrant in a hit-and-run crash.Tammy Nobles, mother of Kayla Hamilton, a 20-year-old autistic woman who was raped and murdered by an MS-13 gang member illegally present in the U.S.Vaughan then highlights Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's warning to federal highway fund recipients: comply with federal immigration law or risk losing funding. On his list of public safety concerns: states that issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia presently issue licenses to this population.Rosenburg, the president of AVIAC and an activist focused on unlicensed drivers and road safety, discusses his research into the impact of this policy, stating that there is no evidence that providing driver's licenses to illegal aliens improves road safety. In fact, he shares data showing that fatal crashes rise, as do hit-and-runs, in the first few years after such a policy is implemented.HostJessica Vaughan is the Director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies.GuestsDon Rosenberg, President of Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime (AVIAC), whose son Drew was killed by an unlicensed illegal immigrant in a hit-and-run crash.Tammy Nobles, mother of Kayla Hamilton, a 20-year-old autistic woman who was raped and murdered by an MS-13 gang member illegally present in the U.S.RelatedVictims and Their Families Finally Get a VOICESilencing VOICE: Despite being shuttered by Biden, the need for ICE's victim-assistance office is greater than everVOICE websiteAVIAC: Advocates For Victims of Illegal Alien CrimeIntro MontageVoices in the opening montage:Sen. Chuck Todd opens with a critical analysis of President Trump's approach to governance, suggesting that while his Middle East trip may yield positive results, his administration is missing crucial opportunities for bipartisan cooperation. He argues that Trump's executive order on prescription drugs lacks substance without legislative backing and that the president should "get caught trying" bipartisanship on issues where common ground exists. He also explores Putin's refusal of peace talks as a potential humiliation for Trump, and examines what recent political developments like the Omaha mayoral race might signal about Democratic prospects in upcoming elections. Then, he's joined by Congressman Ro Khanna, who delivers a candid assessment of the Democratic party's leadership crisis and brand damage. Khanna argues that Chuck Schumer has squandered his leadership position and addresses concerns about deportations in rural communities. The conversation delves into the economic realities facing the Midwest, and calls for Democrats to work more closely with business leaders. Khanna argues that deplatforming Trump after January 6th was "a huge mistake" and discusses the rightward shift among tech leaders. They conclude with Khanna's perspectives on America's global retreat, the timeline for presidential campaigns, and Gen Z's trust issues with politics. The episode wraps with "Ask Chuck," where Todd addresses questions about media coverage of Trump, potential Republican party fractures, and Chuck gives his thoughts on Pete Rose's posthumous Hall of Fame eligibility.Timeline:00:00 Introduction01:45 Trump's middle east trip may net some positive results02:30 Trump won't work with Democrats on issues they agree on04:15 Bipartisanship has become toxic06:30 Trump's executive order on prescription drugs is meaningless without legislation07:45 Congress has been useless08:30 Trump should “get caught trying” bipartisanship10:00 There are multiple issues where Trump could make bipartisan deals12:15 Trump made some great points in his middle east speech13:45 Trump has been pragmatic with his middle east policy 16:30 Trump can't pick and choose who to be pragmatic with18:00 The ball is in Trump's court after Putin turned down peace talks19:15 Putin is humiliating Trump… will he sit back and take it?19:50 Does the Omaha mayoral race show a blue wave building? 21:00 Pete Buttigieg admits Joe Biden is political baggage in Iowa town hall23:30 Chuck Schumer punting on the Biden question was cowardly25:30 Donald Trump is unpopular and the Democratic brand is still worse26:15 Ro Khanna joins the Chuck Toddcast! 27:45 Who is the leader of the Democratic party? 28:45 Chuck Schumer has squandered his leadership position 31:30 Rural communities are highly concerned about deportations 32:15 Is Hakeem Jeffries stuck in Nancy Pelosi's shadow? 34:00 How damaged is the Democratic brand and how to fix it? 37:15 Do midwestern voters want to work multigenerational factory jobs? 40:30 NAFTA benefitted the south and hurt the midwest 43:15 Republicans have become the big government party 45:45 Democrats need to work with business leaders 46:45 What caused the rightward shift of the tech leaders? 48:30 Deplatforming Trump was a huge mistake 50:30 Should Kamala Harris be the next governor of California? 53:30 What characteristics will voters be looking for in 2028 55:15 Will Democratic voters want a "celebrity" president? 58:25 What's the lesson learned from Biden's communications failure? 1:00:15 How do Democrats win over independent voters? 1:03:00 One issue he'd work with Trump on? 1:03:45 Will he debate JD Vance? 1:05:45 America's retreat is making the world more dangerous 1:07:15 Rubio needs to step up and assert America globally 1:10:00 It will take a generation to repair America's reputation 1:10:45 When is it appropriate to begin a run for president? 1:12:15 Kamala Harris and her team were too cautious in 24 1:13:45 Gen Z has trust issues with politics1:15:45 Chuck's thoughts on interview with Ro Khanna1:16:15 Ask Chuck1:16:55 Why are reporters not more combative with Trump?1:19:05 If the Republican party fractures, who would be in the traditional wing?1:21:45 Pete Rose finally eligible for Hall of Fame posthumously(Timestamps vary based on advertisements)

It's Donald Trump. We're having a lot of fun doing a good show with Charlie. Thank you very much, sir. We really appreciate that. Let's go to the PhD weight loss talk line. We'll talk to Janet in Gastonia about that big, old, beautiful bill. What's on your mind, Janet? Hey, Charlie. Hello? Wanted to know if it's true. I've been hearing a lot of, different stories claiming that the big, beautiful bill does not contain no tax on Social Security. Have you heard anything about that? I'll be honest with you. The only thing that we've heard about this bill is what the different committees have been saying. So I don't know if it's in there or not. I'm not sure. I hope they get it in there because I hate for the folks on Social Security to pay taxes again on something that they've earned way back when. Ain't that the truth? You're exactly right about that, but we'll see what happens with that bill, Janet. Appreciate your call. Well, one of the things that the Trump administration has really been working hard on is eliminating all of these ridiculous regulations from the Biden administration. When you look at the cost of all the things you have, there are regulations tied to that. I mean, just what look what they wanted to do. They wanted to do away with your gas stove. They wanted to do away with that. They wanted to do away with your gas dryer. I've never even known anybody that had a gas dryer, but the people that have talked about them have said they're wonderful. They wanted to do away with your gas water heater. They wanted to do away with natural gas altogether. Now it was pretty hypocritical, especially since there were pictures of, Nancy Pelosi and, and and and Elizabeth Warren and, Kamala Harris all standing in front of their beautiful gas ranges. But they wanted to do away away with all of that. Look at how many regulations. Look how many regulations the government has imposed on Americans. How may how much water your toilet can use. Right? Your ridiculous gas cans that they make you use now, I don't even bother with them. I just go buy me an aftermarket funnel attachment for my gas can. I put the little vent valve on there, and I'm good to go. I take that piece anytime they put a valve on a gas cap on a gas can that you have to go to the website to find out how to use, it's a bad idea. It's literally pouring liquid into a container. Now they wanted to come along and talk about it with safety issues. No. It's not. It was all about the the environment, blah blah blah. But that's where they've been primarily focused. All of these things in the Biden administration, it's all been about that's that's all these so called inflation reduction act was about. And even Joe Biden admitted that that wasn't even the real name of the bill. It was the Green New Deal. Was another regulation that they've had, maybe you've had to deal with it. It was a few weeks ago. My wife and I went up to Rhode Island to visit my mother-in-law, and we rented a car rented a car. So we're driving out of the was it Hertz? Driving out of the Hertz lot, and we come to a stop sign. And I stopped the car, and the car shuts off. And my wife says, oh, no. What happened? And I said, it's a new thing. It's a new thing, honey. So then I stepped on the gas, but a boom, car starts back up. It's that auto stop auto start thing, the start stop technology that they put into these cars. And a lot of people, not surprisingly, hate it. They can't stand it. Now you can disable it, but you can only disable it for that trip. So let's just say I don't know. Let's just say you're going to Golden Corral, get you some breakfast. You can disable it in your driveway, drive to Golden Corral. But once you get back in and you're all full as a tick and you're going back home, you gotta disable it again. People loathe it. It's Monday, May 12th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Chinese Communists order Christian media to publish propaganda China's only legal church, the Communist Party-controlled Three Self Patriotic Movement, has been ordered to publish more communist propaganda including President Xi Jinping's thoughts and teachings in its so-called “Christian” media, reports Bitter Winter. But Exodus 20:16 warns, “You shall not bear false witness.” Biden denied cognitive decline, claimed voters are sexist for electing Trump Last Thursday, former President Joe Biden, and former First Lady Jill Biden, appeared on ABC's “The View.” Whoopi Goldberg asked about the now famous debate debacle. GOLDBERG: “You know, what freaked everybody out? was that debate. BIDEN: “Yep.” GOLDBERG: “It wasn't a great night. It was a bad night.” BIDEN: “Terrible night.” GOLDBERG: “and everybody lost their mind.” BIDEN: “Yep.” GOLDBERG: “This is what started … BIDEN: “Yep.” GOLDBERG: “… both sides with this, ‘Oh, he can't do this. This needs to stop.' Why do you think that caught fire? Why do you think people bought into it, especially the Democrats?” JOE BIDEN: “The Democratic Party at large didn't buy into it, but the Democratic leadership and some of the very significant contributors did. I'm going to say something outrageous. I've not lost many debates in my life. I've been pretty good at doing that. I was sick. No excuse. I had a bad, bad night.” Alyssa Griffin asked about his mental competence. GRIFFIN:  “Mr. President, since you left office, there have been a number of books that have come out, deeply sourced from Democratic sources, that claim in your final year there was a dramatic decline in your cognitive abilities. What is your response to these allegations? Or are these sources wrong?” JOE BIDEN: “There are wrong. There's nothing to sustain that.” Jill Biden weighed in as well. JILL BIDEN: “The people who wrote those books were not in the White House with us, and they didn't see how hard Joe worked every single day. I mean he'd get up, he'd put in a full day, and then at night, I'd be in bed reading my book, and he was still on the phone, reading his briefings, working with staff. I mean, it was nonstop. Joe worked really hard. I think he was a great president. If you look at things today, give me Joe Biden any time.” GRIFFIN: “Mr. President, just to follow up on this, some of the reporting is that people like your former president, you served under Barack Obama, George Clooney, a long-time supporter of yours -- a major Democratic donor, Chuck Schumer, your dear friend Nancy Pelosi, also had expressed concerns about your ability to do the job for four more years. Can I ask what your relationship is with President Obama and how you address those concerns that they raised?” JOE BIDEN: “The only reason I got out of the race was because I didn't want to have a divided Democratic Party. It's a simple proposition. So that's why I got out of the race. I thought it was better to put the country ahead of my interest, my personal interest.” Sara Haines asked about Kamala's election loss. HAINES: “Why do you think the Vice President lost? And were you surprised?” JOE BIDEN: “I wasn't surprised, not because I didn't think the Vice President's not the most qualified person to be president. She is. She's qualified to be president of the United States of America. I wasn't surprised because they went the route of, the sexist route, all the whole route. I mean, this is a woman. She's this, she's that. Really, I've never seen quite as successful and a consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn't lead the country and a woman of mixed race.” And Alyssa Griffin asked about Trump's landslide election to a second term. GRIFFIN: “Well, Mr. President, you had previously said that you thought that you would have won. Since then, Donald Trump won all the battleground states and made inroads with almost every major demographic, from working class voters to Hispanic men to black men. Knowing what you know now, do you think you would have beat him?” JOE BIDEN: “Yeah, he still got 7 million fewer votes. A lot of people didn't show up, number one, Number two: They're very close in those, those toss up states. It wasn't a slam dunk.” Charlotte viewer objects to Biden's Preserve-My-Legacy Tour Jack Acuff of Charlotte, North Carolina, sounded off in a fascinating  Facebook video post. ACUFF: “Somebody tell me:  'Why Jill Biden keeps dragging Joe out for these TV appearances and making a bad situation worse?' “Did you see him on ‘The View' this week? It was sad. It's the Preserve-My-Legacy Tour and the ‘Stick-it-to-Obama-and-George-Clooney-and-Nancy-Pelosi Tour, where he repeats again that he could have won, that Americans only chose not to vote for her because she's a minority and a woman, and we're racist and misogynist, and that he is ready to go at any minute.” Trump fully defunds pro-abortion UN Population Fund The Trump administration has fully implemented the defunding of the United Nations Population Fund, an agency which promotes abortions worldwide, reports LifeNews.com.   Specifically, Trump pulled $335 million in taxpayer funds from the pro-abortion United Nations agency. It's the result of the pro-life executive order Trump signed in January that prohibits American tax dollars from going to groups that promote or provide coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization. Connecticut calls for tough new laws on homeschooling And finally, the state of Connecticut is getting tough with homeschoolers, reports WFSB. Using a couple of cases of egregious child abuse, the Connecticut Office of Child Advocate commissioned a report which advocates new legislation.  It's entitled “A Review of Children Withdrawn from School for Equivalent Instruction Elsewhere.” They write, “Currently, parents who wish to withdraw their children from school need do nothing more than assert that they are homeschooling or sending their children to private school. Once a parent does that, there is no further interaction with the public school system required. There is no verification of enrollment in private schools. There is no verification that a child is, in fact, being homeschooled.” The Connecticut Office of Child Advocate says every other New England state requires some form of annual evaluation or assessment.  The report says, “Homeschooling, when done properly, can be a positive experience for children and families. … Nothing in this report is a general criticism of homeschooling nor a suggestion that children should not be homeschooled. Nonetheless, not every parent who withdraws their child for the stated purpose of homeschooling is, in fact, providing their children with an education. Live from Studio G and fighting for you from the Foxhole of Freedom—here we go into another brand-new hour—   WARNING: The Steve Gruber Show often results in Extended periods of American pride, American optimism and uncontrollable enthusiasm about America's future!    Kicking off the live broadcast day on Real America's Voice, MTN and reaching a growing global audience—this is the Steve Gruber Show— And this is a no panic zone!   Here are the three big things to know this hour—   Number One— Has the O'Keefe Media Group got a smoking gun confession on one of the biggest names in the Jeffrey Epstein underage child sex ring scandal? Well it sure looks that way this morning!   Number Two— A remarkable revelation—more than 200 people were arrested yesterday in an FBI investigation—of a child sex operation on the East coast—more than 115 kids were actually rescued!   Number Three— You see sometimes you have to wait for results—you have to be patient—as hard as that can be— so please people as we dive into a new day—relax—and let me start with some good news—     Attorney General Pam Bondi says despite wild internet rumors to the contrary— the FBI is currently sifting through a mountain of evidence on Jeffrey Epstein's crimes against humanity –    Bite #5   I don't know about you, but I'm willing to be patient with the DOJ and the FBI while they do this right – this is something that can't be rushed.   Just yesterday – Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel announced the astounding progress they've made in fighting child sex predators as a result of Operation Restore Trust –    The operation involves 55 FBI field officers across the nation – and has resulted so far in the rescue of 115 children – and the arrests of 205 child sexual abuse offenders.   Bite #6   These people are the worst of the worst – and I'm glad the DOJ and FBI are sending the message loud and clear that just because you can hide behind a screen, doesn't mean you can hide from the authorities.   115 children rescued… 205 sex offenders arrested – and they did that over the course of 5 days!    I've noticed how impatient Americans on both sides of the aisle have gotten with the Trump Administration –    Democrats point to every issue that has yet to be resolved – thinking it's a big “I told you so” – on the ineffectiveness of the administration –    And some Republicans are ready to rain down hellfire on Bondi and others because they're not seeing the results they want yet—    And to that I say: Come on, Relax!    Some of these cabinet picks have been in office less than 3 months – we've got to let them work!   I'm seeing the same thing with the ‘big, beautiful bill' that Donald Trump has promised – intended to extend tax cuts that he made the first time around –    Conservatives have put their foot down on a deadline date by Memorial Day – with a big ‘OR ELSE' – but again, I say: let them work!   Joe Biden's Administration did a number on our government – and even looking past him – the system has been broken for decades –    If we want this done right, we need to make sure our elected officials can iron out the details.   You wonder why I'm willing to be patient? Just take a look at what this administration has already accomplished –    Egg and gasoline prices are already down – here's Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on reversing the Biden-era blunders –    Bite #7   Like she said, there's so much work to do – but we can rest easy in how much has already been accomplished –    Another case in point – Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been taking an ax to what he's called – quote – unnecessary bureaucratic layers – in our military – and that includes woke programs and leaders that weaken our national security –    I've never felt more confident in the future of the U.S. military that I do after hearing Hegseth put it this way – listen –    Bite #8   A man after my own heart…   That dream is becoming reality – now that the Supreme Court has backed Trump's ban on transgender individuals in the military – as I mentioned yesterday –    Hegseth says there are more unqualified on payroll than just those who don't know their gender – and he's taking care of that problem, too – listen –    Bite #9   Elon Musk isn't the only in charge of downsizing – we've got a whole cabinet team looking to make our government the most efficient it's ever been – using our tax dollars for legitimate purposes – to serve the taxpayers well –    Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is leading the charge on that mission over at the U.S. Treasury – he's also rooting out corruption – and making sure that we know where our money is going –    He says the previous administrations were complacent about transparency – across the whole government – and that attitude affected the Treasury Department, too – on a billion-dollar scale – listen –    Bite #10   The United States Treasury was sending billions of dollars to God knows where – while Nancy Pelosi was House Speaker – and passed a provision in 2021 that required every gig worker making more than $600 on apps like Venmo to report that money to the IRS – when the previous threshold was 20-thousand dollars.   Rules for thee, but not for me, huh?   Bessent is after more than just transparency – he wants to recreate the booming successes of Trump's first term in office – something we all want – and voted for –    Bite #11   I'm confident that we can return to those glory days…but like I've said – we gotta let them work! We can't panic.   China is now agreeing to come to the table on tariff negotiations with the U.S. – and they'll probably start by playing hardball – but you don't think Trump already knows that?   He's the master negotiator – and he's made it clear that he's putting America first.   We've already seen big gains for Americans in our economy – and that's with the Fed dragging their feet on lowering interest rates.   It's clear as day to me: We have to trust Donald J. Trump and his cabinet to be what we voted for. Trump's unapologetic strength, proven economic wins, and America-first agenda is cutting through the noise of a corrupt establishment.  While Americans on both sides of the aisle continue to wring their hands, claiming that the results are taking too long – Trump is fighting for us—lowering egg and gas prices, securing our borders, and empowering leaders. like Bondi, Patel, Bessent, you name it. Pam Bondi and Kash Patel are out there cleaning up our streets, Pete Hegseth is gutting woke military nonsense, Scott Bessent is cleaning up the Treasury, and Trump's negotiating with China like a boss. Give them time—this is Making America Great Again!

In this week's episode of Parsing Immigration Policy, guest host Jessica Vaughan, the Center's director of policy studies, discusses the intersection of immigration policy and municipal finance with Ed Grebeck, a veteran credit market risk expert. About one-third of all municipal bonds issued in 2024 and outstanding through 2024 are from sanctuary jurisdictions, concentrated in large cities and states, such as California, New York, and Massachusetts.Vaughan and Grebeck explore the fiscal implications of sanctuary policies and the need for comprehensive risk assessment in municipal finance. The absence of truly objective bond ratings or comprehensive risk assessments for sanctuary jurisdictions may place investors, particularly individual investors, who own a significant share of this market, at a disadvantage. Sanctuary policies can impose significant burdens on taxpayers, potentially affecting a municipality's fiscal health and its ability to meet financial obligations. Key discussion points include:Why are credit ratings important?Do sanctuary policies compromise a city's creditworthiness? Why might credit rating agencies overlook political risks associated with sanctuary jurisdictions? How does the influx of illegal immigrants strain public resources and affect taxpayers?Would legislative measures, like Rep. Nancy Mace's "No Tax Breaks for Sanctuary Cities Act", address these concerns? In the closing commentary, Vaughan presents the findings from her most recent report on sanctuary jurisdictions, identifying the states and localities that have the most egregious non-cooperation policies leading to the release of tens of thousands of criminal aliens.HostJessica Vaughan is the Director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies.GuestEd Grebeck is a veteran credit market risk expert.RelatedSanctuary MapWhich Sanctuary Jurisdictions Have Released the Most CriminalsNo Tax Breaks for Sanctuary Cities ActContact Details for Ed GrebeckIntro MontageVoices in the opening montage:Sen. In Episode 95 of Breaking History, hosts Matt Ehret and Ghost unravel the tangled web of illusions propping up today's regime-driven narratives. From the carefully choreographed photo ops of Nancy Pelosi and Zelenskyy to the strange symbolism surrounding the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, this episode dives deep into the manipulation of perception on the world stage. They examine how historical revisionism, intelligence operations, and high-tech fakery, such as green screen theatrics and AI-generated imagery, are used to manufacture consensus and control narratives. Matt and Ghost explore the disturbing alignment of Western propaganda with historic fascist precedents, drawing comparisons between Canada's current political censorship and the ideological strategies of WWII Germany. The duo also takes a hard look at the CIA's postwar infiltration into media and academia, dissecting the “cultural Cold War” and its long-lasting effects on truth, sovereignty, and consciousness. With chilling commentary on population control, synthetic culture, and false flag operations, this episode challenges listeners to discern reality from illusion and question the institutions shaping our collective understanding of history. Are we witnessing the unraveling of the empire, or just the next act in a scripted global drama? Breaking History pulls no punches in its effort to expose the man behind the curtain.

John Fetterman.Jim and Greg begin with new details surrounding National Security Adviser Mike Waltz's departure before thoroughly enjoying the growing divide between Hakeem Jeffries and Nancy Pelosi. Jeffries is reportedly distancing himself and no longer seeking Pelosi's counsel. This story has many delicious layers, but it clearly highlights a Democratic party that's still not sure where it's going.Next, they dig into the Washington Free Beacon's investigation of New Jersey Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill's improbable financial gains since joining Congress. Jim emphasizes how these stories deepen public distrust in government, while Greg notes the media's pattern of downplaying financial controversies involving Democrats, from Whitewater to campaign fundraising scandals. Finally, they tackle New York magazine's hit piece on Sen. John Fetterman, which raises questions about his health and personal life. Jim points out that these same outlets once claimed Fetterman was fit to serve shortly after suffering a major stroke and argues that the real reason for the shift is Fetterman's willingness to buck his party on a tiny number of issues. Please visit our great sponsors:It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. “Abundance,” the book I co-wrote with Derek Thompson, hit bookstore shelves a little over a month ago, and the response has been beyond anything I could have imagined. And it's generated a lot of interesting critiques, too, especially from the left. So I wanted to dedicate an episode to talking through some of them.My guests today are both on the left but have very different perspectives. Zephyr Teachout is a law professor at Fordham University and one of the most prominent voices in the antimonopoly movement. Saikat Chakrabarti is the president and co-founder of New Consensus, a think tank that has been trying to think through what it would take to build at Green New Deal scale and pace. And he is currently running to unseat Nancy Pelosi in Congress.I found this conversation wonderfully clarifying — both in the places it revealed agreement, and perhaps even more in the places it revealed difference.Mentioned:“How the Gentry Won: Property Law's Embrace of Stasis” by David Schleicher and Roderick M. Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday's 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into the left winning in Canada again, progress and setbacks in the fight against the Houthis, and a congressional effort to rein in stock trades with the bluntly named PELOSI Act.First, they groan as Canada's liberals notch another win, despite earlier signs the Conservative Party might be poised for huge gains. Some on the right blame former President Trump, arguing his tariff threats and repeated jabs about Canada being America's 51st state rallied voters towards the Liberals But others say Canadians have only themselves to blame for re-electing the same people who badly damaged their country just because Trump made them angry.Next, they react to troubling developments in the Red Sea, where an American FA/18 fighter jet was lost as the USS Harry S. Truman evaded a Houthi missile strike. While no personnel have been harmed, the U.S. has lost seven drones in the region. On the positive side, CENTCOM also reports significant damage to critical Houthi infrastructure and the deaths of many leaders and fighters. Still, Jim is alarmed by how little attention this ongoing conflict gets from both the media and the Trump administration. Finally, they cheer on a bill aimed at banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks — and revel in the fact it's called the PELOSI Act, a not-so-subtle jab at former Speaker Nancy Pelosi's controversial financial dealings. But they also wonder if the bill's name might need tweaking to get enough Democrats on board. Please visit our great sponsors:It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. From AOC and the Squad to activist figures like David Hogg, a new generation is rising—and the establishment is terrified. Victor Davis Hanson explores what this youth-driven movement means for the future of American politics on today's edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”   “ We're watching a metamorphosis of the Democratic Party that is out of power. The old guard: Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin—that old guard did not deliver the 2024 election.  “ The Republicans are not afraid. They're not afraid of the squad and the Jacobins and this new cohort, the David Hoggs of the world. But you know who's terrified of them? Dick Durbin, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, because they don't know how to handle them.”
