Georgian Banov was born in communist Bulgaria. As a teenager, he was a founding member of the first official rock 'n roll band in the country. Seeking freedom, he risked his life by escaping through the Iron Curtain and was mightily saved after coming to the United States. Georgian and his wife Winnie are the founding leaders of Global Celebration; they are a radical team bringing joy and freedom all over the world. They were part of the core team who wrote and produced the famous children's albums Music Machine and Bullfrogs & Butterflies, which sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide. Georgian also led the popular '80s Christian band Silverwind. Their teaching and their ministry are full of God's loving, joyful presence, bringing miracles and changing lives. Today they are dedicated to training ministry students and leaders, rescuing and caring for trafficked children, helping marginalized impoverished communities and hosting evangelistic missionary events and conferences. “Mongo only pawn in game of life”. -Mongo, Blazing Saddles Mongo plays a combination of Rock Music, Country, Jazz, and a little bit of everything from the '70s, '80s, '90s, and today. He has been a fan of everything music all his life. He loves to listen to and play it! And he hopes that everyone enjoys it. If there is a song you want to hear, he will do his best to find it. He has always had a passion for everything computers. It finally came to Mongo one day, that he wanted to be a DJ, and the crew at Sky Blue Radio has finally given him a chance. I have always been a fan of anything in & of Flight Simulations. My background has just about included every MS Flight Sim since MSFS 1 back in 1986 in wireframe models. My excitement in flight kicked off in 1992 when I enlisted in the United States Air Force. Combat sims have also been a major interest of mine. In my military days, I accumulated at least 40 hours in different military simulators along with over 10 hours of Real-world military aircraft like F-15E, F-16D, and B-1B.
Label: Original Sound 67Year: 1967Condition: MPrice: $30.00This group's followup to their classic Psychedelic Rock single, "Talk Talk," wasn't nearly so successful, but that's no comment on its quality. The A side is a top-notch psych-rock performance, the flip is nearly its equal. I've put a snippet of the A side in the jukebox, since it's likely that many 1960s rock fans haven't heard it. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Original Sound Records factory sleeve. The labels grade very close to Mint, while the vinyl looks untouched, and the audio sounds pristine Mint!

Any self respecting devotee of fuzz and farfisa will genuflect at the mention of Talk Talk by The Music Machine, the brain busting bombshell that exploded in 1966 at the height of the garage band culture. Along with Psychotic Reaction by The Count V, and 96 Tears by ? And The Mysterians, The Music Machine ruled the airwaves that year. My middle school band, The Full House, could play 96 tears, but Talk Talk was a bronco that was harder to ride. And, the guttural snarl of lead singer Sean Bonniwell, as he spit out the red meat of his teenage angst, was an inimitable storm surge of passion. But, as so often happens, the complications of keeping a band together pulled at the group's threadbare fabric, and by '69 the band was in shreds, and Sean was on his own. This cut, Absolutely Positively is off the album THE BONNIWELL MUSIC MACHINE (because he was the only one left), but features some of the original players before they split. After that, the Music Machine was no more, and Sean soldiered on through an unforgiving solo career. But, I'm thrilled hearing the roiling organ arpeggios on the verses as Sean expresses the ambivalence of not knowing what he wants, but then, emerging with determination, as he stands firm during the choruses, declaring: “Absolutely Positively I want your love!”.

Rob Green in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.musicglue.com/the-fallen-leaves/ THE FALLEN LEAVES was formed in 2004 by Rob Green (Rob built himself a reputation singing at Bernie Rhodes' “Club Left” and by performing with Vic Godard's Subway Sect, notably supporting Siouxsie & The Banshees at the Music Machine in '80), and by original '76-'78 Subway Sect guitarist/founding member Rob Symmons whose distinctive discordant, stinging guitar sound was one of the defining features of the original Subway Sect which he formed with best friend Godard. Symmons & Green share a love of 60's garage music, and ever-so stylish vintage suits. THE FALLEN LEAVES' recordings are alive, heated and humming - preferring as they do to use vintage valve amps & mics, and recording live with no overdubs and minimal technology. They hark back to DIY punk days and concentrate on delivering impressive songs and performances.

On this episode of The Paul Weller Fan Podcast, I am joined by the award-winning stand-up comedian, broadcaster and podcaster, Ian Stone. A huge fan of The Jam and Paul Weller since discovering the band in 1977 via John Peel's late night show on Radio One, Ian published his first book in 2020 – To Be Someone – a memoir about one teenager's obsession with The Jam…Paul Weller commented “I really liked this book. I'd forgotten how shit it was in the seventies”…We dive into his memory band from hearing that first single to attending live concerts and soundchecks and that specia the connection with the music, the lyrics and the look of the band...In May 1977, The Jam made their mark on the music scene with the release of their debut single, In The City. However, in the midst of this musical revolution, Britain was grappling with widespread discontent, and young Ian Stone's household was no exception. A fourteen-year-old navigating the challenges of school, witnessing Arsenal's dismal football performances, and enduring his parents' crumbling marriage, Ian's life seemed far from idyllic. Beyond his personal struggles, the nation was grappling with its own demons - racial tensions, violence, inner-city riots, police scandals, rising unemployment, and the looming threat of terrorism. But in 1978, one fateful evening would change Ian's life forever. The Jam took the stage at London's Music Machine, igniting an electrifying atmosphere with their iconic sound. As they launched into ninety minutes of unforgettable pop tunes, Ian's world was transformed. The sheer exhilaration of that moment eclipsed anything he had ever experienced. To Be Someone is a vivid account of the five years Ian spent captivated by his obsession with The Jam. He took on weekend jobs to fund his gig attendance, embarked on daring escapades like sneaking onto the roof of the Hammersmith Odeon, and narrowly escaped eviction from a Brighton hotel, only to be saved by none other than Paul Weller himself, who invited Ian and his friends back into the bar.Above all, the book serves as a heartfelt tribute to the band that guided Ian, and countless others, through the tumultuous landscape of Britain in the late 1970s and early 1980s. When Paul Weller eventually announced The Jam's breakup, Ian was left devastated. Yet, for him and the legions who embarked on that transformative five-year journey, their enduring love for the band remains unwavering. To Be Someone captures not only the spirit of a generation but also the indelible impact of The Jam's music on the lives of its ardent fans during a pivotal era in British history. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Kristi Callan, daughter of actress and author K Callen. That's K as in the letter, no period. We talk to Kristi about her mother's 50+ year career in stage, film, television and commercials in everything from an iconic All in The Family episode to the recent Knives Outbuzzed about film. Along the way we talk about Sanka commercials, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Carnivale, American Gigolo, Deep Space Nine, A Touch of Class, The Onion Field and much more. We even discuss a long lost Benson & Hedges cigarette commercial. You remember the ‘healthy' cigarette! We also take time to discuss Kristi's musical career in bands like Wednesday Week, The Roswell Sisters, Goat Deity, Dime Box Band and even aCheap Trick cover band, Cheap Chick. We hit upon everything from Hootenanny's, several cross country moves, a great Norman Lear story, the LA punk rock scene of the late seventies, early eighties, The Ramones recognizing her mother on a flight, seeing Eddie Van Halen on the set of One Day at a Time, meeting The Brady Bunch's Christopher Knight, long lost LA venues like The Starwood and the Music Machine and much more. It's evident from this interview just how much Kristi loves her mother who is going strong and sill acting at age 87. So much so, Kristi barely wanted to talk about her own career and wanted to focus almost exclusively on her mother alone. But we persevered and got her to talk about it all on this brand new episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

Even though I'm extremely passionate about the subject of Season 4, I've struggled making these PodWalks. But now I've figured out why and what I'm going to do about it...(In Season 4 I'm PodWalking about supposedly "irrelevant subjects"...because siloing in it's many forms is an anti-creative force.)And whenever you're ready, here's how I can help you:1. A very different PodWalk today as I share a story from my past (pretty much my first clear memory) which I believe has shaped my approach to almost everything...And definitely my strong aversion to the siloing of information, learning and knowledge.(In Season 4 I'm PodWalking about supposedly "irrelevant subjects"...because siloing in it's many forms is an anti-creative force.)And whenever you're ready, here's how I can help you:1. A very music based PodWalk today, as I'm talking about how I've used the Gestalk Principles of visual perception to help me (and others) make music.(In Season 4 I'm PodWalking about supposedly "irrelevant subjects"...because siloing in it's many forms is an anti-creative force.)And whenever you're ready, here's how I can help you:1. In Season 4 I'll be PodWalking about supposedly "irrelevant subjects"...because siloing in it's many forms is an anti-creative force. So let's talk about how the creative process (as commonly practised) ensures we're creating unnecessary frustration. When we take into account how our minds work - we can make making WAY simpler, quicker and less painful...And whenever you're ready, here's how I can help you:1. In Season 4 I'll be PodWalking about supposedly "irrelevant subjects"...because I believe that siloing in it's many forms is a terrible waste of human creativity. And in this PodWalk I'll fill you in on an area of learning which has had the most profund effect on my ability to do almost anything. It's the bedrock upon which all other learning has happened...The first book that got me into meditation I mention was "The Relaxation Response" by Herbert Benson. It's not the best book on the subject (I've read many), but it is short, simple and practical. And whenever you're ready, here's how I can help you:1. Sam Moore and Dave Prater were known as Sam & Dave, a huge soul act from the late 60's. They were known as The Sultans of Sweat, The Dynamic Duo, and Double Dynamite. This album is their second studio album out of Stax Records, also called Double Dynamite.Sam & Dave are considered one of the greatest live acts out of the 60's, and a lot of musicians cite their influence on their work, including some you would expect like Al Green and Michael Jackson. There are also a lot of musicians who were influenced who were significantly removed from the R&B genre like Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, and Steve Winwood.Sam & Dave got their start in church in gospel choirs. They met on the gospel music circuit and sang together in small clubs where they developed their sound based on a call-and-response approach to music from the gospel tradition. They were discovered at the King of Hearts nightclub in Miami in the early 60's, and signed to Marlin Records at first. They eventually made it to Atlantic Records in 1964 from which they were loaned out to Memphis-based Stax Records. Stax had a lot of offer Sam & Dave, including the Stax horn section called the Mar-Keys, and their house band, Booker T. and the M.G.'s.Bruce brings us this icon of soul, and friend of the show John Lynch joins us for this discussion. You Got Me Hummin'Leading off the album, this single was written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter. Sam & Dave took this hit to number 8 on the R&B charts, and number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100. A number of other groups would do this song, including Freddie Fender and the Pointer Sisters. Its highest charting on the Billboard Hot 100 was number 52 by Cold Blood.Just Can't Get EnoughThis is a deeper cut, though I imagine just about any Sam & Dave song could be familiar with the number of covers or singers inspired by their songs. This one has some lyrics that might be difficult to sing today - "The more I get the more I want. It makes me feel good 'cause you never say don't. I just cant get enough." Sweet PainsThis track is another deep cut. This one takes a description comparing love to pain, a path that would be echoed in John Cougar's "Hurts So Good," and Sade's "Sweetest Taboo." "Sweet pains, feels good."When Something Is Wrong with My BabyThe big hit off the album was their only ballad single. Hayes and Porter wrote it, and you have both Booker T and the MG's and the Mar-Keys horns playing on it. A bunch of people have covered this song, including Jonny Gill, Charlie Rich, and in 1990 Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville did well with it. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Marching Theme to the motion picture "Follow Me, Boys!"This Boy Scout themed movie starring a young Kurt Russel was the last film Disney Studios released prior to Walt Disney's death. STAFF PICKS:Mellow Yellow by DonovanRob kicks off the staff picks with a psychedelic hit. Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan took this song to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Some thought the song was about a type of drug, but it was actually about a...well, let's just say it is an adult toy.Talk Talk by The Music MachineWayne's staff pick is a garage band one-hit wonder. This song would use some techniques which were novel at the time, including the use of a fuzz box on the bass line, and tuning the instruments down a half step to produce a heavier sound. If I Were a Carpenter by Bobby Darin Brian brings us a song written by Tim Hardin and popularized by Bobby Darin. It hit number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, Darin's first hit in three years. The lyrics question whether an elegant woman would be satisfied with a man who was merely a carpenter. Darin had passed on two songs, "Do You Believe In Magic" and "Summer in the City," both of which would be hits for the Lovin' Spoonful. You Keep Me Hangin' On by The SupremesFriend of the show John Lynch brings us a big hit for Diana Ross and the Supremes. It would also be a hit for a long list of cover artists including Vanilla Fudge, Phil Collins, Kim Wilde, and Rod Stewart. NOVELTY TRACK:Winchester Cathedral by The New Vaudeville BandThis novelty song doubles up as Bruce's staff pick. It was a number 1 hit in the United States and would win the Grammy for the best contemporary song in 1967, beating out singles from the Monkees, the Beach Boys, and the Beatles.
