They talk about control, striving, believing that we can control all of our health outcomes, and the pressure to be thin because of the belief that thin equals healthy. Quote: Affirmations are our mental vitamins, providing the supplementary positive thoughts we need to balance the barrage of negative events and thoughts we experience daily. -Tia Walker Chapters 0:42 Introduction to Affirmations 9:37 Affirmations for a Peaceful New Year 11:56 Embracing Change and Simplicity 13:43 The Power of Affirmations Summary In this episode of the Anxiety Coaches Podcast, I delve into the transformative power of affirmations as we kick off the new year with a focus on cultivating peace and calmness in our lives. We explore what affirmations truly are—short, positive statements that can significantly influence our thoughts and beliefs. These affirmations serve as a strategy to counteract the pervasive negative self-talk that often accompanies anxiety and chronic stress. The human mind has a tendency to cling more strongly to negative thoughts, making it essential to actively practice positivity and reshape our internal dialogue. The episode highlights the concept of neuroplasticity—the brain's remarkable ability to rewire itself based on repeated thoughts and experiences. Through the consistent use of affirmations, we can create new neural pathways that favor positivity over anxiety, allowing us to thrive in the face of challenges. I emphasize that experiencing fear and anxiety is part of being human, but it is possible to regain balance and handle life's adversities without being overwhelmed by constant worry or the fear of the unknown. As we discuss the mechanics of how affirmations work, I share that they interrupt negative thought patterns, strengthen our belief systems, and serve as emotional anchors during moments of uncertainty. The beauty of affirmations lies in their ability to ground us, offering reassurance when anxiety threatens to take over. However, I also acknowledge that starting this practice may not be easy; belief plays a crucial role, and it often requires persistence and patience to see the benefits come to fruition. #Affirmations, #MentalHealthMatters, #OvercomeAnxiety, #StressRelief, #PositiveMindset, #SelfCare, #PeacefulLiving, #EmotionalWellbeing, #NewYearNewYou, #SelfLove, #GrowthMindset, #Mindfulness, #AnxietyCoaches, #InnerPeace, #Neuroplasticity, #PositiveThinking, #ManifestYourBestLife, #PersonalDevelopment Learn more about your ad choices. If you've ever felt the sting of setting New Year's resolutions that seem to vanish by February, this episode is PERFECT for you.  And since we're airing the day before New Year's, we've got JUST enough time to break down why so many resolutions fail, uncover practical solutions to keep you on track, and help you embrace 2025 with the confidence and clarity you deserve. Our theme for this year is to Thrive in 2025 and today's episode is going to help us do JUST that! Did you know that according to the research, 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by the second week of February? And here are 3 key reasons for this:1) Setting Vague or Unrealistic Goals, 2) Overwhelming Yourself, and 3) Failing to Build a Supportive System. Instead of resolutions, embrace a more dynamic and effective method: goal setting based on habits and systems. Think about what you can do daily or weekly to align with your larger vision. I've got some great episodes that I will link here about New Year's Resolutions one of which is an interview with my daughter when she was stationed in Japan with the Air Force. With that said, let's get to some tips that can help you CRUSH your goals in 2025: (Tune in to today' episode to get ALL the specifics!). Tip 1: Set clear, specific, and measurable goals. Tip 2: Focus on habits, not outcomes. Tip 3: Create a vision board or journal. Tip 4: Celebrate small wins. Tip 5: Find an accountability partner. Upcoming Events: January 6th, marks the beginning of our New Year/New You 5-Day Challenge AND our interview with Dominique Sachse will be airing on that day as well.  You can head to our website at www.drdawnshoptalk.com to find out more AND don't forget that you can also register there for our next workshop called Stress Less/Achieve More without Sacrificing Work/Life Balance. NEW HERE? Here are some key takeaways from Doug's experience at the New Year New You event in Miami. Authentic intelligence comes from experience and activating our brains, hearts, and souls. There is a difference between artificial intelligence (AI) and authentic intelligence. Artificial intelligence is knowledge gained through algorithmic study and memorization—learning in 2D—while authentic intelligence comes from experience that activates more areas of the brain and leaves emotional imprints. It engages our brains, hearts, and souls. And as AI advances, we need to balance and develop our authentic intelligence through conversations, travel, and immersive experiences. Curiosity is the most important skill in the AI era.Curiosity is singled out as the most important skill in the AI era. With unlimited information at our fingertips, our impact comes from the questions we ask, not just passively accepting the answers we receive. Staying curious allows us to steer our use of AI tools, rather than losing agency and keeps us from falling into sameness. Imperfections make us human. As AI generates hyper-perfect images and content, imperfections make us human. We need to embrace the imperfections and uniqueness that differentiates human creativity from AI. In design, we should move away from perfection and embrace more human, authentic work. Our humanity shines through those imperfections. Follow Doug on LinkedIn.Click here to get your copy of Doug's children's book—Design Your World.Follow Imagine a Place on LinkedIn.

Each of us is responsible for what we do as parents, but we're also responsible for the dynamic that exists in our homes and in our relationships. Just because you're the nice one, just because you do the repairing, just because you're not as hard on your kids—that doesn't mean that you're not complicit in the stress or strain that's being inflicted. It's our job to create a safe and loving and supportive home. We can't make excuses—Oh, he's just under stress at work. Oh, that's what she learned growing up. And this pertains to more than just punishment. It's our job to get on the same pages as our spouse, our co-parent, their step-parent, our ex, whatever, and figure out how to do this right. If we're struggling, if we sense something's wrong? Well, we can't deny it. We can't make excuses for it. We can't just leave our children to fend for themselves with it. Because what they'll end up doing is blaming themselves…and eventually, inevitably, you too. For those tired of making excuses, we announced last week the 2024 New Year New You challenge. This set of 21 actionable challenges—presented one per day, built around the most timeless wisdom in Stoic philosophy—is really a set of 21 choices. Every morning, the email arrives in your inbox, and you have to choose. Will you take the easy way or the hard way? Will you read the email and leave it at that or will you take on the challenge? Will you get better this year? That's the question. That's the choice. That's the responsibility you can accept.
