Nissan's Murano has been giving Nissan customers another crossover option for over two decades. Since its launch in 2002, the Murano has sat near the top of the brand's pricing strategy. While the Murano has ventured into some strange body styles, with the CrossCabriolet leading the pack, the latest, fourth-generation Murano is back on track -- albeit a track that looks more toward the Infiniti side of Nissan's lineup. This '25 Murano also ditches the popular 3.5-liter V6 and replaces it with the variable compression turbocharged I4 mill. The variable-compression turbocharged engine sends 241 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Those figures are almost exactly flipped from the VQ-powered predecessor. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek Executive Editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Murano and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a guided tour of the fourth-generation Murano and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Murphy takes you along for a live drive review of the 2025 Nissan Murano. Adding to these segments, Murphy chats with host Wesley Wren about the Murano, how it stacks up against the competition, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 Nissan Murano special.

Welcome to Episode 49! This week, Nick and Nathan are coming at you from their mobile recording studio—the 2025 Subaru Forester—mostly because they couldn't find a quiet spot in the office. Nevertheless, it's quite the complement: Subaru has made big strides over the years with overall refinement, and that's very evident in this latest, sixth-gen Forester. Plus, Nathan is in the 2025 BMW M4 CS. Second laps in press cars don't always end well, but to our surprise, the two-door variant of the M3 CS—with which Nathan fell in love last year—is still as hardcore and engaging as we remember. And finally, Nick just returned from Nashville, where he checked out the redesigned 2025 Nissan Murano—and got a short stint behind the wheel of the Nissan Z Nismo. Enjoy the show? MDJ Script/ Top Stories for September 17th Publish Date: September 17th Commercial: From the BG AD Group Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Tuesday, September 17th and Happy heavenly Birthday Hank Williams 09.17.24 –BIRTHDAY – HANK WILLIAMS*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Suspect Arrested in Marietta Murder Campbell High Receives $50K Donation for Music Technology Program Pedestrian Killed Crossing Mableton Parkway All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Suspect Arrested in Marietta Murder An Atlanta man, Tavion Taylor, 21, was arrested and charged with the murder of De'shaune Hall, 21, in a Friday night shooting in Marietta. Taylor faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a crime. The shooting occurred around 10:15 p.m. outside an apartment building on Bentley Road near Interstate 75. Responding officers found Hall with multiple gunshot wounds, but he later died despite aid efforts. Witness statements led detectives to identify Taylor as the suspect. After a brief foot chase, Taylor was arrested at his Cumberland apartment by Cobb County officers early Saturday morning. Police from Marietta and Cobb County collaborated effectively, securing warrants for searches of both Hall's and Taylor's residences. STORY 2: Campbell High Receives $50K Donation for Music Technology Program Campbell High School in Smyrna received a $50,000 donation to create a music technology program, thanks to a partnership between the Give a Note Foundation and Huber Engineered Material. The donation was presented during a morning assembly attended by Cobb Superintendent Chris Ragsdale, who praised the opportunity for students to engage in music technology. The program will teach students to use production equipment typically found in music studios. Already popular, 176 students have enrolled, and additional equipment donations have been provided. The event featured performances by the school's marching band and a surprise appearance by The BoyKinz. This initiative is part of a three-year investment by Give a Note, aiming to enhance music education in schools nationwide. Campbell is one of two high schools benefiting from this program, alongside Woodburn High School in Oregon. STORY 3: Pedestrian Killed Crossing Mableton Parkway A 36-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while crossing Mableton Parkway near Community Drive in Mableton on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 10:49 p.m., and the pedestrian was not using a crosswalk. A white 2020 Nissan Murano was the vehicle involved in the accident, and the driver stopped following the collision. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office. Authorities have not yet released the pedestrian's identity as they await family notification. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Cobb Police at 770-499-3987. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We'll be right back Break: DRAKE (COBB) STORY 4: Georgia Kicking Off Annual National Child Passenger Safety Week The Governor's Office of Highway Safety, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Public Health, is promoting child passenger safety during National Child Passenger Safety Week from September 15-21. The campaign aims to educate parents and caregivers about the correct installation and use of car seats and booster seats to prevent child fatalities in car crashes. Educational events across Georgia will provide guidance on choosing the right seat based on a child's age, height, and weight, and ensure seats are registered for recall notifications. Properly installed car seats significantly reduce injury risks, and parents are encouraged to attend these events or visit fitting stations to ensure their children's safety. The initiative emphasizes compliance with Georgia state laws requiring appropriate restraints for children under eight and highlights the critical role of car seats in saving lives. STORY 5: Georgia abortion ban comes under fire at Senate hearing An Atlanta woman, Mackenzie Kulik, testified before a U.S. Senate subcommittee about her experience with Georgia's restrictive abortion law, which bans most abortions after six weeks. Kulik, facing a dangerous pregnancy, was advised to rest and hydrate, as her case didn't qualify for exceptions under the law. The hearing, led by Sen. Jon Ossoff, highlighted the law's risks to women's health and its impact on the availability of OB-GYNs in Georgia. Dr. Carrie Cwiak criticized the law for increasing maternal mortality and forcing healthcare providers to turn away patients. The hearing underscored the broader political debate on abortion, with ongoing calls for federal legislation to protect abortion rights, contrasting with arguments for state-level decision-making. We'll be back in a moment Break: INGLES 7 (ROASTING VEGTABLES) STORY 6: IRS-CI Atlanta Field Office Reminds Sports Fans Illegal Gambling is Criminal Offense As the 2024-2025 NFL season kicks off, the IRS Criminal Investigation Atlanta Field Office is cautioning sports fans about the legal risks of illegal gambling, which generates over $700 million annually in the U.S. From 2020 to mid-2024, the IRS-CI launched 151 investigations into illegal gambling, leading to 71 convictions with average sentences exceeding two years. Illegal gambling funds criminal activities, and despite legalized sports betting in many states, it remains prohibited in Georgia and Alabama. A notable case involved a multi-million dollar tax evasion scheme in Alabama. Participants must report gambling winnings on tax returns, with the IRS urging individuals to maintain detailed records of their gambling activities. STORY 7: Wellstar Kicks off Student Internship Program with Cobb School District More than 20 students from the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy (CITA) have begun internships at Wellstar Health Center, as part of a healthcare career preparation program in collaboration with the Cobb School District. This initiative aims to equip high school students with essential skills for future careers in healthcare. The internship, running until December 31, offers three study areas: work-based learning, patient-care technicians, and certified nursing assistants. Students will gain hands-on experience, rotating through various departments, enhancing their skills and career prospects. Wellstar guarantees job offers to program graduates and covers costs for further healthcare education, addressing workforce shortages while eliminating financial barriers for students. Candy controversy kicks off The Carpool Podcast with Reese Eggs vs Cadbury Cream Eggs, candies that are begging to be retired, and the Peeps red dye 3 controversy. The suitcase zipped, but barely, on this *packed* episode. Mother is today's millennial word of the day. Used as an adjective by Gen Z, Kelly will just have to live with it and love it. Which ugly auto will win today's hate eight of ugliest cars? Up for the title are the Ford Flex, Nissan Murano convertible, Nissan Cube, classic Toyota Prius, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Honda Odyssey, Kia Soul, and Tesla cyber truck. The Ford Flex is giving fridge, at least the Honda Odyssey is functional, and the Nissan Cube holds a special place in Lizz's heart. Stanley ice flows are (or were!) back in stock, so they're on both Kelly and Lizz's last three transactions today. Use the code CARMOM20 to grab yours if they're still available. The PT Cruiser of shoes threatened to set Kelly back $80 for spring daycare shoes, but she found knock off Crocs at TJ Maxx instead. Lizz grabbed some jammies for the babe and both gals had a grocery run — Kelly's for her pot-luck famous Costco mac-n-cheese. On today's advice segment, Dana asks for go-to dinner ideas for guests. Kelly recommends BBQ pulled pork nachos with Sweet Baby Rays, a hot dog bar, or grilled naan bread pizzas. Lizz suggests crockpot chicken tacos. Listener Elizabeth asks how Kelly knew she wanted a third kiddo. A listener's Honda Odyssey question spills over into industry news. Making headlines this week, Tesla workers shared very personal customer videos taken by Century mode without consent. Kia EV 9 is one of the hottest EVs of the year and one of the first mainstream three row electric SUVs. And Kelly and Lizz talk auto shows and their yearning to travel again. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Want our advice on literally anything? Some of you know I've been car hunting for a few months now. It's the worst time to buy a car. Like, the worst. But it's been the worst time to buy a car for a couple of years now and will likely still be the worst time to buy a car for a couple more years. And, mama's 2009 Nissan Murano might not have that many trips to the mountains left in her. The time had come…. As I went through this whole car-buying journey, Vinnie saw me searching day in/day out on various online platforms. He had a lot of opinions and requests - most (ok, all) of which I could not honor. “No, V, we're not getting a Tesla. Or a Porsche. Or a Lambo.” We are not fancy car people. We are very practical car people. Buy something that is a few years old and drive it for 10-12 years. I mean, we could not be more boring car people. After months of searching, I found a fantastic Toyota Highlander Hybrid option down in Texas. We had it shipped up here via CarMax (CarMax is not a sponsor of this show, but they definitely should be. I am a huge fan.) When the car arrived, we all went to see it and test drive it. It was the perfect car for us. We decided to move forward with the purchase. My husband sat in on the initial sales process to ask a couple of questions, but then headed home. Vinnie and I stayed at the dealer and completed the process. I didn't plan for V to watch me buy a car, but I'm so glad he did. He saw a woman make a major household decision and purchase. He saw me fill out the paperwork, manage the financing, ask questions, request clarity, negotiate terms, and CLOSE THE DEAL. Why does this matter? It matters that our kids see us as powerful as possible. It matters that they see us manage the money, negotiate the terms, and sign the papers. It matters that they see us ask questions and require answers. It matters that they see us wield as much power as our partners. This breaks down gender barriers and models equity in power and decision-making. While I did not expect this car-buying experience to be a huge lesson in gender roles, it definitely turned into that. And I'm so grateful. Where in your life are you actively breaking down gender stereotypes? Listen in to hear me break down different areas where we all might have some growth in this. Due to a road rage incident in Florida, two fathers have been charged with attempted murder for shooting their daughters. Two girls were shot in Florida during what appears to have been a road rage incident, and both of the victims' fathers have been arrested on attempted murder charges. Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper stated in a press conference on Monday that on October 8, William Hale, 36, and Frank Allison, 43, were involved in a driving dispute while transporting their respective daughters in separate vehicles. A witness reportedly told 911 operators that the two men were driving recklessly and "brake checking" each other. According to the witness, the two men were engaged in a game of "cat and mouse" while driving. Sheriff Leeper addressed the media and explained the escalation to violence. For what it's worth, Leeper claims that when Hale pulled up next to Allison's gray Nissan Murano, the latter was in a black Dodge Ram. At this point, Hale yelled at Allison to stop. According to Leeper, one of Allison's Nissan's passengers made a lewd gesture toward Hale. Then, someone from Hale's car threw a water bottle at Allison's car. Leeper continued, saying that Allison then pulled out a Sig Saur 45mm handgun, fired one shot at Hale's truck, and then drove off. Hale's 5-year-old daughter was hit in the leg by a bullet. After hearing gunshots and realizing his daughter had been hit, Hale allegedly followed Allison's truck and fired multiple shots from his Glock 43 9mm handgun. Allison's daughter, who was 14 at the time, was shot in the back and had a lung collapse as a result of the impact. According to Leeper, the two men ignored a sheriff's car parked on the shoulder and continued driving at high speeds. They stopped the car and began punching each other until a deputy intervened. The two youngsters needed immediate medical attention and were taken there. It is anticipated that both will make a full recovery from their wounds. Share YOUR Crazy Family Story With Us Now!! In this episode of the iCantCU Podcast, I talk about picking up our new Nissan Murano and being left out of the process on how to operate the various controls. While I don't need to know the functions involved with driving the vehicle, it would've been nice to know the particulars about the radio and climate control. It should also come as no surprise that once my iPhone was paired with the entertainment system, VoiceOver did not function at all. Show notes at https://www.iCantCU.com/128

This week we have John Walischek from Autolinks joining us to talk about the steps to buying a used car. We go through each step of the process from beginning to end to help you make an informed decision that you can be happy with. We start by talking about how to pick the right car and what to look for in a vehicle. We then talk about how to do a proper test drive and the importance of getting a pre-purchase inspection and Carproof report. We also talk about the differences between buying privately and buying from a dealership. We also share our thoughts on the new 2019 Nissan Altima and 2019 Nissan Murano from the first drive event in Quebec.
We're back from a series of winter events, where we got the chance to drive the Honda Passport, Nissan Altima AWD, and Nissan Murano. We also drove the latest Volkswagen GTI, Golf R, and Golf Alltrack on a frozen lake. In the garage are the Mercedes-Benz C 300, BMW M850i, the Volkswagen GTI with a six-speed manual, and the Toyota RAV4 Limited.
It's been close to a decade since you could buy a Ranger in a Ford showroom, but for 2019 the once-compact, now-mid-size pickup is back. Benjamin drives the 2019 Ford Ranger on-road and off-road to figure out where it fits in a suddenly-crowded small truck market. Sami, on the other hand, plunges deep into the Nissan brand and brings back tales of the mid-size Murano SUV and the near-luxury Maxima sedan. The pair then argue about whether there should be a NISMO version of either, and it all ends in tears.

They're both big, plush, and expensive: the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator join the Consumer Reports test fleet. Each scores points in this skirmish in different ways, but we can't help thinking that this segment's heyday has come and gone. We also look at the new Nissan Murano, which aims for a upscale look and feel at a price point dominated by family haulers. After complaining about the Murano's steering feel, we debate how much that matters to its buyers. Finally, we answer two viewer questions from the Detroit Auto Show: Could Buick build the Avenir concept car without stepping on Cadillac's toes? And, could brands other than Volvo overcome the reputational baggage that comes with selling Chinese-built cars in America?
