The Psalms have this unique way of speaking directly to the soul. Whether we’re celebrating or stumbling, they give us language for every spiritual season. Psalm 139, in particular, reminds us just how intimately God knows us—especially when anxiety threatens to take over our thoughts.

Globalism: One more thing we read about first, in the Bible. In the past there were some monarchs who believed themselves to be king of kings, ruler of the world - but they weren't really. As vast as their empire may have been, it was only the civilized world, or the known world. But there's a man coming who will really subjugate the entire planet. He's a globalist dream-come-true, and a nightmare for everyone else. Here's Jim with the message, Superman Rules the Earth. A guided Scripture meditation using Lectio Divina. How can you have a flourishing faith? Psalm 1:1–3 tells us how. Get your FREE Unshakable Journal here. We all long for stability—a life that can’t be easily shaken. And yet, it’s surprisingly easy to drift. Whether it’s the constant stream of news, the demands of our to-do lists, the pull of people’s opinions, or simply our own self-reliance, we can find ourselves slowly swayed—sometimes without even noticing it. Psalm 1 offers us a better way. It paints a beautiful picture of the person who delights in God’s Word: like a tree planted by streams of water—deeply rooted, spiritually nourished, and steadily bearing good fruit. In this Scripture meditation, we’ll slow down and reflect on Psalm 1:1–3, letting God’s Word re-center us and remind us where true blessing and strength come from—not from following the crowd, but from following Him. This is the third episode in our series: Unshakable: Strength for Today, Hope for Tomorrow. Each week, we’re turning to Scripture to help us stand firm in faith, rely on God’s strength, and hold onto hope. In this meditation on Unshakably Rooted, you’ll be invited to:• Notice what influences might be pulling you away from God’s best• Reflect on what a life of blessing and flourishing could look like for you• Consider how God is inviting you to move toward that rooted life• Rest in His invitation to grow strong and steady in Him Whether you're feeling grounded or feeling a drift, may this time in God’s Word help you become more deeply rooted in His love and truth. (NIV) Matthew 7:21–23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (NIV) 1. The Salvation Stage 2. The Milk Stage 1 Peter 2:2-3 Like newborn INFANTS, long for the pure spiritual MILK, that by it you may GROW UP into salvation 3 If indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. (ESV) 1 Corinthians 3:1–3 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere INFANTS in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are STILL WORLDLY. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? (NIV) Hebrews 5:13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. (ESV) 3. The Maturing Stage 1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. (NIV) Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the MATURE, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (NIV) 4. The Others Stage Ephesians 4:12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, (ESV) 4A. Mature Christians Get Connected to Other Christians 4B. Mature Christians Get Equipped for Ministry 4C. Mature Christians Serve Others So The Body Can Grow 1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (NIV) 5. The Disciple Making Stage Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (NIV) Hebrews 6:1 So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and BECOME MATURE in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. (NLT) Hebrews 5:12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! (NIV) Acts 6:7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith. (ESV)

'To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility towards one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.' (1 Peter 5.1-5, NIV)

Everyone worships something. Well-known novelist David Foster Wallace said, “Everyone worships. The only choice we get is what to worship.” Some worship money, fame, or success. Whatever controls your thoughts and behavior is what you worship. Jesus has a life-changing conversation about worship with an unlikely person—a Samaritan woman with a troubled past. In that encounter, Jesus makes a revolutionary declaration: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24, NIV). Most remarkably, Jesus reveals the one thing God actively seeks from us—our worship. As we begin our “Who We Are” series, we discover that worship isn't just what we do; it's who we are called to be as we point people to Jesus and inspire them to live the cross-shaped life.

Have you had an encounter with God that has impacted and changed your life for the better, one or more experiences that have caused spiritual growth in your life? Sharing our personal spiritual experiences with others helps to encourage them that God loves them and is present and interested in our lives, ever willing to help us. - Lynette Kittle In this episode of Your Daily Prayer, Lynette Kittle invites listeners to reflect on how we can actively prepare our hearts for a deeper relationship with God. Using Acts 17:26–27 as a foundation, she offers four biblical ways to pursue spiritual growth: seeking God, reading Scripture, inviting the Holy Spirit’s teaching, and maintaining a life of prayer. If you've ever felt distant from God or longed for more personal connection with Him, this prayerful devotion offers practical encouragement and Scriptural truth to draw near and grow in faith. Topics covered: How to cultivate your heart for spiritual growth God’s desire for personal connection with us The essential role of Scripture and prayer Inviting the Holy Spirit’s guidance Encouragement for those feeling spiritually dry or distant Scripture References Acts 17:26–27 (NIV) “From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.”

There's a three-part drama in Revelation 12! Today and Monday we'll watch 3 acts, starring 3 main actors, in a theatrical-style performance in the heavens. John calls it a "sign," a symbolic portrayal of supernatural forces in conflict. If we watch closely, we'll learn something about the persistence of the devil, and the ultimate victory of God. You may be walking through a really difficult time or situation. But it is through our struggles—and always—that we need more Jesus. More hope in his goodness. More hope in him. And when we choose hope, we will find more patience. And when we find more patience, we will find so many more reasons to praise, and so much more joy…in him. - Keri Eichberger In this episode of Your Daily Prayer, Keri Eichberger opens up about battling chronic back pain and the temptation to slip into a pit of impatience and self-pity. She shares a powerful realization from Romans 8:25 and a timely reminder: we don’t need quick solutions—we need more of Jesus. Listeners will be encouraged to shift their focus from complaints to Christ, discovering the joy and peace that come from choosing hope in Him, especially during seasons of waiting or suffering. Topics covered: Navigating suffering with spiritual patience Why complaining robs us of joy Learning to wait with hope and composure (Romans 8:25) Choosing Jesus over quick fixes Practical encouragement for hard seasons Scripture Reference Romans 8:25 (NIV) “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, Novelist and Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Thursday, May 15, 2025, and this is episode #5 in Series 2025. This episode is titled, “Where Is Humanity Headed?"Where IS humanity headed? Do you know? Do you wish you knew? Are you afraid, or doesn't it faze you?Well, if you're like most people, you are concerned about what's going on in the world around us. As the saying goes, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the world is on the brink of destruction, and all of it, sadly, is self-imposed.So, where exactly is the world headed? While most people are frantically trying to figure it out or have completely tuned it out, there are answers to this very legitimate question. And those answers are found in a place where most people refuse to venture. That place is within the pages of the Holy Bible. If you had a negative, visceral reaction to what I just said, you need to hear what I'm about to say because it could literally save your life. This is no time for playing games, my friend, and if you truly care about your future, then you will choose to listen closely to the rest of this podcast. The Bible is a book replete with predictions about the future. Most of them have already come true—exactly as predicted. Some are currently in the process of coming true—exactly as predicted. And a few still remain to come true and will occur exactly as predicted.Let's take a look at some of these prophecies and compare them with what's happening in the news today. Number 1: 2 Peter 3 NIV - " . . . in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, 'Where is this ‘coming' he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.'”Wherever I turn these days, I find mockers of Christ's promise to return. While I hope not, perhaps you are one of them. If so, I would warn you to stop your mocking. If you don't, you will one day deeply regret it. No one can call God a liar and get away with it. So stop calling Him a liar. Just because His promise to return hasn't yet come to pass does not mean that it won't.Number 2: Matthew 24: 7 NIV . . . "There will be famines and earthquakes in various places."Well, you might say, "Dr. MaryAnn, there have always been famines and earthquakes," and you would be right. But we can't deny that there are more earthquakes today than ever before, and in places where we never used to hear of earthquakes. I have spent most of my life in New Jersey, and for the first 65 years of my life, I don't recall ever experiencing an earthquake. In the last decade, however, New Jersey has had three earthquakes measuring over 4.0. This is highly unusual for my area. The same can be said of places like upstate New York, Indiana, and Ohio. Those states are not known for earthquake activity. Consider also the Phlegrean Fields outside of Naples, Italy, a supervolcano now on the verge of a catastrophic eruption. Or Yellowstone National Park, also on the brink of a disastrous eruption. These are developments in the earth that are direct fulfillments of Bible prophecy.Number 3: 1 Thessalonians 5: 3 NIV - "While people are saying, 'Peace and safety,' destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."Interestingly, if you go to the website of the United Nations, you will find the phrase "peace and safety" or "peace and security" written in multiple places. Just out of curiosity, I did a search on how many times the phrase "peace and security" occurs on the UN website as of the recording of this podcast, and the results listed 8012 times! But not only do we see thie phrase "peace and security" on the UN website,

In today’s devotional, Laura Bailey shares a heartfelt story about her friend’s tough day, a voicemail full of frustration, and a powerful moment of conviction from the Holy Spirit. What started as venting turned into a moment of humility—and a reminder that being “unbothered” doesn’t mean we ignore hurt. It means we choose grace over pride. As Romans 12:3 tells us: “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, by the faith God has distributed to each of you.” (NIV) Let this be your reminder:Being unbothered doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you care more about the person than the problem. Join the Conversation:Have you ever caught yourself in a moment of venting—only to feel convicted later? The topic is introduced through a review of Judges chapter 6 from both the NIV and New King James versions of the Bible. Roger shares a deeply moving message about the importance of crying out to the Lord when you are desperate and trusting that He will answer, regardless of past mistakes. He underscores that getting off track is inevitable, but staying there is not necessary. Roger encourages you to recognize your identity as children of God and stresses the importance of obedience, even when it requires courage. Through personal stories, including his experiences raising children on a farm, Roger illustrates the significance of being both willing and obedient to God's call. Practical steps are explained, such as tearing down idols, confronting the problems, and realigning with God's plan. “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.” (Philippians 1:9 NLT) I eat dinner at five o’clock. But I get hungry around three o’clock. So I start counting off the time until I eat. I look forward to my meal. Sometimes I get tempted to eat something to hold me over. You know, when five o’clock seems like it will never get here, and there’s a Taco Bell nearby. I start thinking about a burrito supreme—or maybe just a taco to hold me over. The problem is that it spoils my appetite. When I fill up on something that’s not good for me, it makes me lose my appetite for things that are good for me. The same thing can happen to us spiritually. There are things we do, places we go, and people we hang out with that dull us spiritually. They make us lose our appetite for the things of God. They stunt our growth. When we indulge ourselves with them, the result is that we want to do less, and not more, spiritually. On the flip side, there are other people who inspire us spiritually by their example and by the godliness of their character. They don’t hold themselves up as role models and ask, “Why aren’t you more like me?” They simply live their faith in a way that’s not just inspiring, but also motivating. Being with them stimulates our hunger for Jesus. And that’s a good thing, because it comes down to this: As Christians, there’s always more for us to know about being disciples. There’s always more for us to learn about sharing our faith and encouraging others. There’s always more to discover in God’s Word. The apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 1:9, “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding” (nlt). His point is that you’re never done as a Christian. No matter how much you love, you can love more. No matter how much you pray, you can pray more. No matter how much you obey, you can obey more. Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6 NIV). I don’t know about you, but I think all Christians should look at themselves and say, “I’m not content with where I’m at spiritually. There’s more to change in my life. I need to become more like Jesus.” The moment you fold your arms and say, “I’m content with where I am,” you set yourself up for a fall. When Jesus said, “Unless you . . . become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18:3 NLT), He wasn’t talking about being childish. He was talking about being childlike—always growing, always learning, and sometimes relearning things that we forget. Stay hungry for God’s truth. Thirst after righteousness. Refuse to rest on your spiritual laurels. As long as you have breath, continue to grow in your relationship with Christ. Look for ways to be a more effective prayer warrior and evangelist. If you do, God promises that you will be filled—and fulfilled. Reflection Question: How can you “stay hungry” in your Christian faith? Joshua 1 NIV  16 Then they answered Joshua, “Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17 Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses. 18 Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!”
