This week's Throwback Thursday episode was originally released on July 15th, 2024, and features Ace Enders of The Early November discussing the writing and recording of the fan-favorite single “Decoration,” from the band's ambitious 2006 triple album The Mother, The Mechanic, And The Path, which is an album the band will be touring in celebration of this February and March 2026 alongside Hellogoodbye and Punchline. Hailing from that sprawling concept record, “Decoration” captures a raw, vintage essence that continues to resonate deeply with listeners, and Ace dives into how the song came together both lyrically and sonically. It's a thoughtful, behind-the-scenes look at one of The Early November's most beloved songs and a Throwback Thursday episode you won't want to miss. Lots to discuss with Dr Janice Stein on this week's conversation with the director of the Munk School at the University of Toronto. We call the segment "Our Changing World" and again this week the list of examples continues: Greenland, NATO, China and Canada's new relationship with it after PM Carney's visit last week. By 2002, things had kicked into high gear for Punchline. They had decided to pursue music full-time, and relentless touring soon followed. Grassroots promotion and a DIY outlook had helped them gain a strong following, especially in their hometown of Pittsburgh, and a follow-up to 2001's Major Motion Picture album was the next step. The 4 musically ambitious tracks on The Rewind EP would help propel Punchline to the next level, and they soon signed to a growing independent record label. The excitement and spirit of this era is captured by the band members and a variety of friends in this episode. Subscribe to A Band Called Punchline wherever you get your podcasts. This episode, first aired in 2019, brings you the story of John Scott, the professional hockey player that every fan loved to hate. A tough guy. A brawler. A goon. But when an impish pundit named Puck Daddy called on fans to vote for Scott to play alongside the world's greatest players in the NHL All-Star Game, Scott found himself facing off against fans, commentators, and the powers that be. Was this the realization of Scott's childhood dreams? Or a nightmarish prank gone too far? Today on Radiolab, a goof on a goon turns into a parable of the agony and the ecstasy of the internet, and democracy in the age of Boaty McBoatface.Special thanks to Larry Lynch and Morgan Springer. The Wasting Time Podcast kicks off 2026 with a familiar face as Steve Soboslai of Punchline returns to the show. Chris and Nick catch up with their friend to talk all things Four Chord Music Festival, the magic of Pittsburgh, and take a deep dive into Punchline's Somewhere To Land — an album that firmly landed on both hosts' favourite records of 2025 lists. Punchline will also be on a killer tour in the US this spring with hellogoodbye and The Early November. From festival memories to songwriting reflections, this episode is the perfect way to start the new year with good friends, great stories, and even better music.

-Rob opens the hour bouncing between movie reviews, personal revelations, and Swiffering in his underwear — proving bachelorhood is both liberating and slightly hazardous to imagery. -The Minneapolis incident gets a decisive update as Rob declares the new video evidence “case closed,” predicting the attempted protest movement will fizzle like a “fart in a Cat-5 hurricane.” -Christian Toto joins on the Newsmax hotline, breaking down Hollywood insanity: Jimmy Kimmel's meltdown, the brilliance of Marty Supreme, murderous rabid chimps in horror films, and why The Simpsons retiring Duffman is the real national tragedy.
