He explains what a family office is (name a billionaire, they probably have one), their roles in wealth management, and how he identified this niche. He sheds light on FINTRX, what it does, and why building a verticalized data business for a niche market can be both exceptionally complicated and rewarding. He delves into the nuances of DaaS business models, what makes them different from SaaS, why it's so important to own your own data, and the unique challenges one faces in a business like this. He also talks bout the fine art of workflow integration and how allowing customers to access FINTRX's data in other APIs has been surprisingly beneficial. If you're looking for an ERP, head to NetSuite: https://netsuite.com/metrics and get the CFO's Guide to AI and Machine Learning.—SPONSORS:Rippling Spend is a spend management solution that handles your entire company's spending in one unified system. Guest post by Karen O'Connor, General Manager, Datapac As 2025 begins, it is an ideal time for organisations to reassess their business goals and align their technology strategies to support these objectives. The year promises significant technology, regulatory, and operational shifts, shaping how organisations navigate and seize opportunities. From the end of Windows 10 support to the implementation of the NIS2 Directive, the coming year presents pivotal changes that will test organisational resilience and adaptability. Windows 10 End of Life Microsoft's announcement that their Windows 10 support will cease on 14th October 2025 marks a critical deadline for organisations. It means that there will be no more Microsoft security updates, standard technical support, security patches, or new features and enhancements. After the deadline, devices running Windows 10 will face diminishing performance, growing incompatibility with modern software, and heightened cybersecurity risks. This is particularly concerning for organisations that last refreshed their hardware fleets during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, global supply chain disruptions forced many to procure laptops from the limited selection available to enable remote work, often without regard for future-proofing or optimal specifications. Fast forward to today, and a significant portion of these pandemic-era devices remains in use, which creates an urgent need for strategic planning to ensure a smooth migration to Windows 11 while addressing hardware limitations. Reimagining Hardware with Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) The upcoming Windows 10 end-of-support deadline poses a significant challenge for organisations, especially for those that need to refresh large portions of their hardware fleets. However, it also presents an opportunity to rethink how compute hardware is procured and managed, paving the way for more efficient and cost-effective approaches. Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) offers a modern solution for managing end-user hardware, combining devices, software, and lifecycle management into a single, streamlined service. DaaS provides a similar experience for organisations who are accustomed to consuming other aspects of their IT ecosystem as-a-Service, such as managed print services. A significant deliverable of managed print services for organisations has been the degree to which it has released internal IT teams to operate more strategically and provide service continuity. The continuing shortage and transience of skilled IT professionals within the market sets the stage for the increased adoption of DaaS in 2025. It frees up internal IT teams to work more strategically while continuing to provide a high level of service, extending these proven business outcomes with the wider integration of the as-a-Service model. Resourcing Solutions: Addressing Complex IT Needs in 2025 Partnering with a trusted IT provider is an effective strategy for addressing today's complex IT challenges. However, no single approach can address every IT requirement. When it comes to highly specialised or intricate projects, organisations often require talent embedded directly within their teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment with internal objectives. Expanding in-house IT teams to meet short-term or project-specific needs, however, is rarely straightforward. Recruiting full-time staff for temporary roles can be both costly and impractical, particularly in a labour market defined by intense competition for skilled professionals. This dynamic is set to become even more pronounced, as organisations grapple with increasing pressures to deliver complex IT initiatives to remain relevant and competitive. We anticipate resourcing solutions becoming a mainstay of the IT service delivery landscape in organisations moving forward. By enabling organisations to access a growing talent pool of adaptable, pre-vetted IT professionals - on flexible, short-term contracts or fixed day rates - the...
Joe Dunlow, CEO of B2i Technologies Inc., joins us to discuss how his company of almost 25 years has grown and expanded in the website management space. B2i developed the first Software as a Service (SaaS) for IR which has now evolved into Data as a Service (DaaS) to simplify and streamline data captured on company websites. Tune in to learn more about leveraging these technologies!
Data as a Service (DaaS) is a one-stop shop for all your data requirements. Rather than managing your servers and databases, DaaS enables businesses to store, access, and manage data in the cloud. Consider it an always-on, virtual store of data your team can access anytime and from anywhere. This reduces the difficulties of managing complicated structures independently, giving you more time to focus on what's truly important.

Join our webinar to explore the world of Digitalisation as a Service (DaaS). Our panel of experts will review its potential as a game-changer for decarbonisation and improved operational efficiency. Register now: https://bit.ly/3H5gJwp xxx This year is going to be pivotal in the race to decarbonise shipping. Come July, the International Maritime Organization is expected to adopt a revised Strategy for Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships. Now that may not sound particularly seismic, but what is, or is not, agreed in July is going to determine the regulatory landscape of the shipping industry for decades to come. An agreement that is aligned to the 1.5 degree Paris agreements targets, that is well-to-wake (rather than tank to wake) and wrapped up with the right detail about pathways to 2030, 2040 as well as the headline 2050 goal, and on top of that has all the right language inserted to ensure an equitable transition – well that is the target. That's the gold standard that aligns with the climate science and will keep shipping on track. What we actually end up getting is going to be the multi trillion dollar question. The further away from this ideal target, the more complex, fragmented and costly it will become for shipping businesses from here on out. The more ambiguity we have the harder it will be to attract investment and all of the difficult conversations yet to come about market based mechanisms, carbon pricing and fuels – well that becomes more and more difficult the more move away from that targets. Investment decisions get pushed back because the demand signals are not there and yet again the industry has lost another five years waiting for the next policy review to correct the last sets fudges and so the can gets kicked down the road and several key member states start disappearing underwater. Speaking on this week's edition: • Katharine Palmer - Shipping Lead, UN Climate Champions team • Susan Ruffo - Senior ocean and climate advisor at un foundation • Aoife O'Leary - Head of Opportunity Green, a non-profit using law & economics to solve international climate issues

Rethinking Business as Usual – Guest post by Neil Thurston, Chief Technologist in Logicalis UKI It goes without saying that the pandemic permanently changed the way people work and how organisations operate. Hybrid working has become the norm and employee expectations have evolved – and will continue to do so – as people balance professional and personal responsibilities in a way that works for them. The success of this, and the benefit that companies can extract from the same, is reliant on them being willing to embrace the new way of working and rethink business as usual by remaining agile and being ready to adapt through digital transformation. It is also reliant on organisations understanding and implementing the strategies, technologies and processes that will enable people by enhancing their experience, providing choice, and upholding governance. In turn, people will be empowered, and businesses will thrive. Enhancing Experience By supporting people with the right tools and technologies – regardless of whether they are in the office, working from home, or splitting their time between the two locations – will mean they can work how and when they want. This will ensure they are more efficient with their time and can be more productive, perhaps working fewer or more scattered hours but achieving more during this time. Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) comes into play here. Even if you don't use desktop or applications as an organisation, this approach is based on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and ensures that all workers have the same enhanced experience by accessing applications over the internet. Of course, it's not ideal having staff turn off their videos on communication platforms during meetings so their audio works better or finding them unable to work effectively due to poor bandwidth on home networks. This impacts collaboration and productivity levels. By helping them overcome such obstacles, organisations benefit from increased engagement and output. Providing Choice There are so many options out there in terms of communication and collaboration platforms. All of them have different strengths and every organisation has different needs. For example, with DaaS, Microsoft works alongside Citrix which has HDX technology. This optimises the flow of video-calling and delivers a superior app and desktop experience. Furthermore, some companies make a decision based on security, while others like a certain provider. Whatever combination of technologies you go for, ensure they deliver a consistent experience and that you measure the performance of them. Otherwise, you can't decide on what option works best for your team and business requirements. In fact, a lot of organisations end up choosing a collaboration platform based on trial and error. This is beneficial if you can afford to be patient because until you put these tools into practice and evaluate their performance day to day, you're not going to grasp the benefits or shortfalls. There are also some companies that have a selection so individual staff members can decide based on their personal preference. Monitoring Efficacy Speaking of individual staff members, monitoring and understanding people's digital experiences is crucial – and that means across all departments at every level. Ask people how they find working with the technologies and what their connectivity is like. After all, you can't solve a problem you don't know about. Speaking to your team regularly will provide an insight into the efficacy of your IT strategy. There are also solutions that can be deployed that measure performance, highlight issues and deliver reporting capabilities. Remember, an empowered workforce is an effective one and can have a positive impact on service delivery levels. Moreover, it makes people more likely to remain with the company as they feel valued and it could increase your organisation's standing in terms of attracting the best talent, which is vitally important given the global...
As we evolve into the future, hybrid workspaces will become more complicated, and this adds up to more cost, more time, and less productivity on all fronts. But the new world of hybrid working is here to stay, and it requires a new approach with higher levels of security, cloud adoption, and an OPEX mindset. Together, Citrix DaaS or VDI, and Flexxible IT are enabling the enterprise to migrate their past to the future, Desktop as a service where you want it and how you want it! Adam Cooperman from Flexxible IT and Manjunatha Gali from Citrix discuss how businesses can simplify their day-to-day life and hide all the complexities. We also discuss how together, they are enabling and facilitating your journey to the hybrid world by providing end-to-end operations and platform support.

Andy discusses the need to monitor experience across all workspace types, not just physical and virtual, to ensure they have one source of truth. With the increase in interest in desktop virtualization as a response to the pandemic, but as people return to travel and offices, Andy also explains why decisions need to be re-evaluated based on how people need to work. Data is nothing more than a collection of facts spliced by rows and columns. Yet, this simple concept is the single most important driver of innovation. SafeGraph provides Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) about physical places. The company is in a constant search for truth and lives to provide others with data to build innovative solutions. According to CEO Auren Hoffman, working in such a company requires humility and veracity. As he puts it, data is like high-quality butter that a baker uses to make a croissant- it often goes unnoticed, but it is essential. Auren joined hosts Scott and Andrei on the podcast to elaborate on the democratization of data and how it can be used to do good in the world. Here are some quick takeaways: Data needs to meet different thresholds of accuracy depending on its use (eg marketing vs modeling), ranging from directionally correct to nearly 100%. Data science as a field is growing as more and more students are pursuing this discipline. As accessibility to reliable data increases, so does the capacity to address issues across areas such as healthcare, economic mobility, and more. The trend of perfectly optimizing your most valuable resource (time) is misguided- it is ok to allocate time to interests outside of work. Treat your past self as a separate person and as someone that you don't mind disagreeing with.

Do you realize that literally every product and service is slowly moving towards subscriptions? First it was your essential services - like Cable TV and Phone. Then it was channels like HBO and ShowTime. Then Netflix popularized the Unlimited DVD's by mail model. Then it came to music with Spotify. And then it was software providers like Adobe - did you know that you can't even buy just Photoshop any more? You HAVE to sign up for their entire Creative Cloud Subscription Service even if you want to use just one software out of their entire suite of products. And now it's coming to hardware - recently, Microsoft announced that they're launching an Xbox subscription which comes with an actual Xbox gaming console, and 2 separate streaming services, all bundled into one monthly fee. Software as a Service - SaaS, Platform as a Service - PaaS, Infrastructure as a Service - IaaS, Desktop as a Service - DaaS, the list just keeps going. What does all this have to do with you? Listen to the show for the rest.
