Again, Trump gets more done in one weekend than other presidents get done in a quarter.  We are slammed with important leads today explaining the 90 day trade agreement with China, Trump's plan to cut the cost of meds, and an American prisoner released from the middle.  And for the cherry on top, Trump is driving dems crazy because he's getting a new 747-8 for FREE!    The Royals bats were awful again this weekend so we will have to be happy they only lost two out of three to the Red Sox.    Kyle Larson wins at Kansas Speedway Sunday in the Advent Health 400 and it wasn't nearly as close this time.  And the defending champion of the PGA Championship this week has the snootiest champions dinner menu ever.  Count me out on rooting for this player.

In our inaugural guest episode, we dive deep with Dan Lewis, a geologist-turned-data analyst who's revolutionizing how we understand Taekwondo trends in America. Lewis shares shocking statistics about USA Taekwondo's decline - participation has dropped from over 7,000 competitors in 2019 to just 4,500 today, with some regions seeing a devastating 75% decrease in athletes. What makes this conversation particularly compelling is the financial paradox Lewis uncovers. While USA Taekwondo sits on unprecedented cash reserves of nearly $1 million, junior development programs crucial for Olympic success remain woefully underfunded. The data paints a clear picture: American Taekwondo athletes peak around age 13, then participation plummets just as international competitors are winning Olympic medals at 16-19 years old.We explore how constant changes to competitive pathways, rising event costs, and questionable regional structures have contributed to widespread disillusionment. Lewis's analysis of World Championship results from 2011-2023 reveals no meaningful improvement in American performance, challenging official narratives of program success. This eye-opening conversation exposes the disconnect between organizational wealth and athlete development. If you care about the future of American Taekwondo or want to understand how data can reveal truths that official statements might obscure, this episode is essential listening. What changes would you make to fix our broken development system?

He's very cosmopolitan/urbane, lives in the city center even though he's 60, takes public transit, legitimately does his weekly grocery shopping at boutique cheese/bread/specialty food stores, always dressed impeccably. OWNS a beautiful specialty meat slicer that he has in his kitchen and uses for fresh/thinly sliced prosciutto (before you go there I've done ham hocks more than once). Interests: art, food and entertaining, culture. Loves to read, usually big sweeping historical books. Always the hardest person to shop for on my list because his taste level is very out of my price range and I'm tapped out on the specialty food theme. Dad recently become a grandfather (2 grandsons and one more coming in Jan) and it was a little weird for him - he loves my sons but the image of an old guy in a rocking chair teaching kids how to whittle didn't jive with his understanding of himself. He's starting to settle in. Has a very unique grandpa name with many indecipherable layers of historical context and family history that the grandkids will probably never understand. Buys them beautifully made clothes that they would immediately ruin. His interests include fishing, geopolitics, and monologuing. I truly feel like I've explored all gifting avenues already with him: consumables for his major sweet tooth, outdoorsy gear that he already buys himself, political or economic books that won't lead to arguments (he's conservative, I'm liberal), and seemingly every dog toy or black Labrador art print under the sun. He doesn't drink and mostly sticks to heart-healthy food. While he has many entertaining childhood stories, it seems unlikely he will set aside time for something activity-based like StoryWorth, as he spends most of his at-home free time watching YouTube videos about things like beekeeping (yes, I've gotten him multiple artisanal honeys that had little impact). Try Breathwork free: https://www.brendawinkle.com/breathe IN THIS EPISODE OF YOUR YES FILLED LIFE In this podcast episode, Ali, a doctor with a focus on women's health, discusses her work on body image and self-esteem with host Brenda. They talk about the flaws of the BMI chart, the importance of body acceptance, and the impact of understanding body functionality. Ali shares her personal struggles with body image and how sports helped her develop body confidence. They also discuss their coaching programs, Ali's rebranded podcast "Transform," and the concept of being selective with food choices. Ali also explains the benefits and misconceptions of weight loss medications like Ozempic and the accessibility of generic medication for those without insurance coverage. Here are the takeaways... Embracing Your Authentic Body: Ali Novitsky, a doctor with a passion for women's health, shared her journey of overcoming body image struggles. She emphasized the importance of focusing on body composition and functionality rather than weight. Her mission? To help women own and optimize their authentic bodies. Transforming Body Shaming: We delved into the importance of understanding and accepting one's body. This acceptance can lead to transformation and a shift away from body shaming. Remember, hating a part of oneself prevents transformation. Deep Emotional Work: Our coaching programs may not be for everyone. We focus on opening up discomfort and addressing childhood issues. It's not a walk in the park, but it's a journey worth taking. The "Transform" Podcast: Ali's podcast, now rebranded as "Transform," covers a wide range of health-related topics. It's authentic, unscripted, and evolves with her own growth. If you're looking for a genuine voice in the health and wellness space, this is it. Being "Snobby" with Food: We discussed the concept of being selective and intentional about what we consume. It's not about being elitist, but about enjoying the experience and indulging in things that truly bring us satisfaction. Valuing Oneself: We shared personal stories about the importance of not settling for less. It's about deserving the best and not discounting ourselves. Medications for Weight Loss: Ali shed light on the benefits and misconceptions of using medications like Ozempic for weight loss. Evolutionary psychologist, Doug Lisle, PhD discusses the following questions:  I find snobbish behavior fascinating (sometimes irritating, sometimes amusing), but I don't really understand the evolutionary basis of it. What are the basic motivations behind and effects of snobbish behavior? Is it insecurity and an attempt to hijack unearned or unwarranted status, a combination of personality traits, or something else? My husband is 56 yrs old obese, smokes all day and eats the SAD diet and does not exercise. He just got a colonoscopy he has diverticulosis, internal hemorrhoids and 3 polyps removed. We are waiting on pathology report. His cholesterol is high and is pre diabetic.I have been trying to motivate him to make some changes to his diet or lifestyle but I have failed. Now he even gets irritated with me taking about it. I'm whole-foods, plant-based and exercise daily.I'm really getting frustrated. What should I do? I am pregnant and in my readings on parenting, I came across the hotly contested topic of infant sleep. In short, the sleep training camp believes that babies need to be taught how to sleep independently, and that the “cry it out” method does not cause any harm. Their rhetoric is heavy on the idea that babies are manipulating their parents and if the parent doesn't sleep train, then they are creating terrible habits and will be trapped by their child's sleep. The anti-sleep training camp believes that babies naturally want to be close to their caregiver (like other carrying mammals) and that the “cry it out” method is cruel and does not work. They believe that sleep training ruins the secure attachment that babies need, and that babies who have responsive parents will develop into more independent and secure children. I think the cry-it-out method is biologically inappropriate, but I also don't know if I believe that it has the capacity to cause long-term harm. I also think that disagreeable parents are more likely to sleep train. At the end of the day, it seems like it all comes down to personality, and the best my husband and I can do is hope that we get a baby as agreeable as the two of us. What are your thoughts on sleep from an evopsych perspective? Do you have any tips on how to pursue physical intimacy as a single, young woman if you are not finding a proper "pair bond" partner . Ive been single for about two years, so far haven't met anyone who would qualify as a proper boyfriend but have a strong craving for intimacy. I already follow your tip to delay sex to not get hurt but I still do not want to miss out on the cuddling, intimacy, attraction part. Do you have any tips on communication skills and how to spot qualities in a partner who might be able to provide that?   Copyright Beat Your Genes Podcast Host: Nathan Gershfeld                               Interviewee: Doug Lisle, Ph.D. Podcast website:  www.BeatYourGenes.org True to Life seminars with Dr. Lisle and Dr. Howk : www.TrueToLife.us For consults, visit www.EsteemDynamics.com Intro & outro song: City of Happy Ones · Ferenc Hegedus

You have 24 hours in your day. Are you spending those hours in a way that honors your goals, desires, and happiness? You get to choose how you spend your time. It's time to reevaluate what matters most and get snobby with your time.   Time Traps That Steal Your Time Social media Relationships Intrusive Thoughts All-or-None Thinking Mental, Emotional, & Physical Wellness   Your Time and Your Core Desires When it comes to getting snobby with your time, it's vital that you identify where your time goes each day. Take some time to plot out your day and see what's taking up your time. Do these things align with your desires? If there are time traps, like social media or relationships that don't bring you joy, consider how you can replace those. While I often talk about social media as a distraction, not all distractions are wrong – so long as they come with boundaries. Setting yourself healthy boundaries on the things that don't serve your higher desires allows you the freedom to still experience them without eating up your valuable time. I like to relate everything to my core desires. When you know what you truly desire, it's much easier to align your time to meet your goals. Identifying your core desires is essential.   Reevaluate Your Time Traps Another big time trap is spending time in relationships that don't serve you. I recommend limiting the time you spend with people who leave you feeling drained, who don't uplift you, or who otherwise don't align with your core desires. The other time traps are intrusive thoughts, all-or-none thinking, and your physical, emotional, and mental wellness. We waste so much time in thought spirals. How much better for your entire life would it be if you didn't waste your time in these negative thought loops? It is not selfish to get snobby with your time. There are so many advantages to getting snobby with your time. Are you willing to keep taking from yourself? Give yourself a chance to discover what happens when you become snobby with your time. Where are you losing the most time? How can you be more intentional with your time? Let me know in the comments on the episode page how you think getting snobby with your time will transform your life.   In This Episode  What happens when you identify your time [6:30] Some of the time traps you might experience [7:30] How to set boundaries on the things that distract you [9:30] Why you need to figure out what you desire [12:00] How to get snobby with your time as it relates to your core desires [13:00] Who you should spend your time with [14:00] What it means to get snobby [18:00] What the advantages of getting snobby with your time are [18:30] What happens when you get snobby with your time [20.30]   Quotes “Getting snobby with our time is all about having 24 hours in a day. That's it. 24 hours. You get to choose how you're spending your time.” [5:01] “You need to decide when you look down that list of things that you're doing in your day, what aren't you being snobby with? Because we have 24 hours, we have to be extremely deliberate about where we are spending our time.” [7:07] “Distraction can actually be useful if you do it in a way that there are boundaries.” [10:15] “Getting snobby with your time means that it is fulfilling your core desires.” [13:06] “When somebody asks something of you, you need to take a moment, and you need to really decide if it feeds into how you're getting snobby with your time. Getting snobby is not a snobby thing to do.” [17:44] “Get snobby with the thoughts that you're allowing in. What are those intrusive thoughts? Think about it. Reflect. What are you thinking about on a daily basis that doesn't make you feel all of those core desires that you want to feel?” [22:07] “You have a choice. Given a certain circumstance, you can choose to think one way or the other. That is your choice. That is nobody else's choice, and nobody else can take that away from you. This is on you. Getting snobby with your time is about setting boundaries on what you choose to believe and how you choose to show up for yourself.
