Byron Patrick of the B³ Method Institute joins Randy for Episode 153 of The Unique CPA, and they delve into Byron's transition from an “okay accountant” to a technology expert. Byron is passionate about well-being and its interplay with the profession, and he and Randy discuss the key that technology can improve efficiency, which eliminates the stresses and time sinks of the job, which leads to better work-life balance, but he holistically broadens his focus to things each person can do for themselves, too. That said, he shares information on AI tools like Bard, ChatGPT, and more, discussing their impact, ultimately stressing that making incremental, small changes is all you need to do to improve your workflow in this rapidly changing technological arena. One of the common themes we've explored is the concept of pursuing people who are further along than you in their leadership journey. As you grow, others will look to you to mentor them on their journey — whether it's their career, family, finances, or personal influence. It's an honor that anyone would ask, but it's important to use wisdom in how you approach mentoring others. You only have so much bandwidth and so much time, so you must steward it well! This season marks the 10th and final year of the four-team College Football Playoff, a format the SEC has dominated. Alabama, Georgia and LSU combined for six national championships during the past nine years. But those three teams are also the only three SEC teams to qualify for the playoff. Although Tennessee, Florida and Auburn won at least one BCS national championship, they've been shut out of the CFP. Insert the 12-team playoff, which will debut in 2024 and will offer a broader playoff opening for many programs. On today's episode, hosts Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams debate how the larger playoff will affect the postseason prospects for programs that never made the four-team format. Coming at you with another Q&A In this episode chase and I answer: Pamela commented on my powerlifting post: Ok chase...I have questions...how is this not hard on your body, in particular your back and knees? Like what does it do for you? What kind of exercise is it considered or is it sport? I'm not being facetious. I'm genuinely curious! Every time I see you and Brevin doing it I'm secretly amazed but cringing all the same Kathy: What is 1 thing you could do to start being healthier when you have minimal time to completely commit to a healthier way of life. Matt McLain showed flashes of his potential in his very first game with the Cincinnati Reds as he hit a double, drew a walk, and scored twice. McLain has the talent and the mentality to be a leader in the Reds lineup. His debut was overshadowed by a big day for the Colorado Rockies lineup as they scored a bunch on Hunter Greene. This start is not worrisome for Greene, though, as there's the Coors Field effect and Greene also showed growth with his changeup. The problem becomes the margin for error Greene has, which is slim and none, as Nick Lodolo hit the IL and the Reds bullpen is already quite stretched. The Reds need Greene's A-game. Also, the Reds called up Brandon Williamson to start on Tuesday night. Expect a rookie pitcher who is still growing into his game but has good stuff to work with. Also, Williamson's call up story will make you laugh.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

In today's episode, I'm going to share things you can do to streamline the process of building your clientele, so that you don't always have to play an active role in the process. AKA how to make it to where you can take breaks from social media, not have to post everyday, and still be filling your books because clients are consistently finding you. Kid's Ministry Coffee Break | 5-Minutes of Spiritual Refreshment for Children's Ministry Leaders
"RETREAT WITH YOUR PEOPLE" Kids Ministry Coffee Break 43: Taking time (making time) to connect with your ministry volunteers is a meaningful and important opportunity for you, them, and your ministry. Ministry is a calling for us. Whoever you are… However you do it… You…are…called. Not everyone is, you see. Yes, we are all called to minister in one way or another, but having a leadership position at a church in the form of ministry is NOT for everyone. You know what it takes… You know what it demands… You know what it offers… But you also know you couldn't do this work without volunteers. Your people! Ministry volunteers are some of the most beautifully wonderfully crazy people the world has to offer. They do their regular stuff—job, family, hobbies, whatever…and THEN they come and volunteer to work with children, youth, or whomever you serve. They sweat, study, pray, lead, become exhausted, dance, sing, connect with students, and cheer you on. They ARE YOUR people. And they love you. They love you like few others know how. It's a gift to have some faithful and regular volunteers. It's a gift to watch them learn and grow while working alongside of you. They inspire you… They teach you… They learn from you… They become important to your own process as a human being… They give and give and give… And they love it. So…here's my suggestion. The suggestion is for your people AND you. Retreat with your people. Plan a day or an overnight…or a few days. Plan to go away to a camp…or an hour…or multiple hours away together. Don't stress yourself out about having the perfect agenda and itinerary. Because…retreating is not always or necessarily about accomplishing. Retreating is about just that; retreating. Getting away from the regular hustle and bustle. Taking a break. Going somewhere as a group of people who love to do the same kind of work. Going somewhere together just to spend time together. To spend time in a quiet space. To enjoy some rest and relaxation. To fix food and eat together. To spend time in prayer and study together. To go for walks or drives or sit around a campfire or listen to music or watch a movie or anything else you know you and your people enjoy. Spending time connecting to each other allows you to enjoy each other as fellow human beings. Student time is great, don't get me wrong, but when you're “on the clock,” it is harder for you to connect to your people. What makes them tick? What are they passionate about as people? What are their dreams for their lives? What are their hopes for the ministry? What ideas do they have that they've been dying to share or try? What do they see happening among the group of students that maybe you haven't noticed…or what you have seen that maybe they haven't noticed? Taking some dedicated time to just get away and connect and share and grow is incredibly valuable. You'll all come back from that time closer, more committed, more aware of how the Spirit has been at work in each other's hearts. You'll all know what the mission truly is for the upcoming month or quarter or year…because you spent time talking about it. You'll know each other's stories and each other's joys and concerns in life. You'll come back—connected more as a body. That is good work. Retreat, relaxing, and connecting IS some of the most important work we can do for one another as people…and as ministers. So…retreat with your people. Let that time be a time of appreciation, of laughter, of sharing, and of love for one another. Message brought to you be Rev. “You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:13a&14aSalt and light, that's us. Hopefully! Have you ever pondered what it means to be salt or light in this world? Let's start with this image. Imagine you cook some wonderful vegetable soup with all the best ingredients. It slowly simmers for hours and the broth looks very tasty. But the one thing you are out of is salt and other spices. So, you just let the soup simmer and hope for the best. Once it's fully cooked you try a taste and, to your disappointment, it's somewhat tasteless. So, you search until you find the missing ingredient, salt, and you add just the right amount. After another half hour of simmering you try a sample and are greatly delighted. It's amazing what salt can do! Or imagine going for a walk in the forest and getting lost. As you search for your way out, the sun sets and it slowly becomes dark. It's overcast so there are no stars or moon. About a half hour after sunset you find yourself in complete darkness in the middle of the forest. As you sit there, you suddenly see the bright moon peek through the clouds. It's a full moon and the overcast skies are clearing up. Suddenly, the full moon sheds so much light your way that you are able to once again navigate the dark forest. These two images provide us with the importance of just a little salt and a little light. Just a little changes everything! So it is with us in our faith. The world we live in is dark in so many ways. The “flavor” of love and mercy is also quite void. God is calling you to add that little flavor and produce that little light so that others can find their way. Like the moon, you are not the source of light. You only reflect the light. God wants to shine through you and He wants you to reflect His light. If you are open to this, He will move the clouds at the right time so as to use you in the way He has chosen. Your responsibility is to simply be open. Reflect, today, upon how open you are. Pray each day that God will use you in accord with His divine purpose. Make yourself available to His divine grace and you will be amazed at the way He can use the small things in your life to make a difference.Lord of light, I do want to be used by You. I want to be salt and light. I want to make a difference in this world. I give myself to You and Your service. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2022 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Used with permission via RSS feed.

HEY FRIENDS! It's the last chapter of our journies, so listen along as we spread the cheese in this corny episode about what we learned, what we loved, what we miss, and how we're moving forward. In case you were wondering: yes, it was the White Album that the Beatles wrote while in India and yes, Beyonce is coming for our royalties. (note: sorry if we sound a little ethereal in the latter half of the episode, also sorry if you hear some background noise, the boys next to us in the library were having a pretty intense math sesh). We're cooking up Season 3 for y'all and we're so grateful that you've been listening along and supporting us and the pod! ttyl!
