There's a structural problem with political fact-checking. It's a noble concept, but the way it is actually practiced does more harm than good. Dan Froomkin, Editor for PressWatchers.org, joins guest host Ian Hoch to explain how fact-checkers' devotion to not "take sides" means that instead of exposing the vast gulf in truth-telling between the two parties, they effectively hide it.

More than one year since the launch of ChatGPT, the media ecosystem is working to understand the concrete outcomes that integrating AI tools could provide for businesses.Emerging #AI tools hold the potential to improve the industry's understanding of media context and determine the best conditions for a brand to expose an ad.Specifically, AI media solutions for inclusive machine learning are supporting brand suitability, identifying content for brands to avoid – like fake news, disinformation, gender and racial bias.Unpacking the impact of these tools on media experience to ultimately drive value and growth for brands, AI heavy hitters Masaki Halle, Head of Data at Havas Media Network, Weilin Ho, Director at Havas Start Up Accelerator – located at Station F, Paris, the largest start up campus in the world - and Daphné Marnat, Co-Founder & CEO of Unbias-ia are in conversation with host Ben Downing.“What we are trying to improve is the risk parameter that brands should avoid....fake news, propaganda, climate change denial, gender or racial bias and disinformation. These categories are not taken care of in standard brand safety tools. We have to design innovative ways of detecting such content and this requires the use of AI,” underlines Masaki Halle. These AI solutions, suggests Daphné Marnat, are today's ‘Guardians of Integrity in the Online Galaxy'.Enjoy! The Meaningful Media Podcast Team
The use of machine learning models in underwriting for consumer loans has been around for more than a decade. While fintech clearly took the lead here it has really only been the last couple of years where traditional lenders are engaging with this technology. In a country as diverse and culturally rich as India, discussions around sexuality and sexual health often remain shrouded in silence. This lack of open dialogue has led to a myriad of problems, from high rates of teenage pregnancies to the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Sex education isn't just about teaching anatomy or discussing contraception. It's about empowering young people with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their bodies, relationships, and personal boundaries. In this episode of The Suno India Show, Suno India's Editor-In-Chief, DVL Padma Priya has a conversation with two young adults Aiswarya, a lawyer turned entrepreneur & Sudhanshu, a part-time podcaster & full-time corporate professional about how they navigate the world of sex, where they access sex-positive information and what the biggest barrier they are facing is, about sex education and more. This episode is part of ‘The Talk', a series of stories, each produced by a different newsroom or team, painting a picture of the state of sex education around the world. During the month of October 2023, stories will be published by CNN As Equals, Kontinentalist, the Impact Newsletter, Unbias the News, Nadja Media, Suno India and BehanBoxSee sunoindia.in/privacy-policy for privacy information.

How can computers help us understand Bach? What is MIDI? In this episode we learn how MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) files, that is, a sort of sheet-music for computers, can help us explore Bach's music in modern and novel ways. If you don't read music or play an instrument, MIDI files might be your way into Bach's mind. Even if you are a virtuoso Bachian, there will be something in MIDI technology that can help you uncover further details throughout Bach's most fascinating constructions. Dave (of Dave's J.S. This Financial Griot podcast episode is based on the New York Times Opinion, "I grew up poor. How Am I supposed to Raise My Middle-Class Kids?" In the advent of the internet and social media, it seems that kids are spending less time being kids and more time plugged into social media. From video games to Netflix, most parents are opting out of old disciplinary techniques to include corporal punishment, spanking and the likes. Unfortunately, you can make a ton of mistakes when raising kids. Most of them can end up irrevocable when it comes to long term trust and understanding. Here are some basic tips:Be Warm, Responsive, Consistent and Accepting.Recognize that you aren't the sole authority of the universe.Understand that you can also make mistakes and we are all learning as we go.Master and Teach Emotional and Energy Regulation.Show them how to Practice Decision Making.Keep Challenging Them to be Smarter, Faster, more Spiritually Balanced and Stronger than they were yesterday.Accept and Acknowledge your own Limitations.Try Not to Use Reward And Punishment or levy past grievances unto new ones.Be Firm, Fair and Unbias. And, be on the same time as the other parent, andAvoid Parenting Myths.

As our guest, Stacey Gordon brilliantly says, dismantling unhealthy bias in the workplace involves much more than talking about it, and more than charts, graphs, and statistics—it requires action. Now is the time to take action. Stacey, who is the CEO of Rework Work and author of the book Unbias, will transform your thinking about what it means to have bias, how bias shows up in your work life and home life, and why bias can ultimately have an impact on your bank account.LinksRework Work https://reworkwork.comUnbias book https://www.unbiasbook.comDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion Workplace Assessment https://reworkwork.com/take-dei-assessmentMeet Stacey https://reworkwork.com/about-usEpisode SponsorsMake it the year you finally cross life insurance off your list, and get protection for your loved ones. I cannot believe that I am saying this, BUT but this is the final guest episode for season one of this podcast! This episode is the celebration of this whole season. So today we will be bringing all those intersections and levels and layers that make us, that we have been dissecting and digging deep into throughout the season, together. 2020 has been a year of finally giving DEI conversations the airtime they deserve, however we cannot always wait for a crisis before engaging in these conversations. But, before we see any progress, we need to come to terms with how we got to where we are today. We need to understand the ineffectiveness of one-off initiatives like hiring a head of D&I and implementing a standalone unconscious bias training. So, what will it take for us to to get where we need to go?For that, I invited two expectational guests to join me: Stacey Gordon and Dr Shelton Goode. Why is it that the ‘news' is pretty much always negative? We live in a world wired towards negativity bias (I podcast on this in Season 1, episode 2). As humans, we react quickly to potential threats, that is we're programmed to hear about those things first; in addition, we kind of like to hear about other people's misfortune so that we feel better about our own situation (so called schadenfreude). And the media has evolved to give us more of what we want…negative stories about bad things happening because study after study has shown that that's what we want to consume. Today's podcast is what to do about that when it all gets too much – how to rebalance all this negativity to get a sense of what's really going in the world as a whole. See the trouble is that as humans, negativity bias switches us towards being open to the negative. We place greater emphasis on negative stimuli. Then another human bias (a psychological shortcut if you like, we humans have loads of these), availability bias means that we're more likely to remember the negative news that we've seen because it's more current in our memories. To top it all off, yet another psychological shortcut, confirmation bias means we'll probably go and look for supportive evidence of anything that's available to us, which as we've learned, is likely to be negative. So we end up in a sea of negative, believing that everything is negative. Read the full transcript: https://www.strengthscope.com/its-all-fake-news/
At a time when the sharing of information is absolutely critical, it's hard to know who to believe. Media and journalism are constantly under attack by all sides, around the globe, and that's why Tina Lee (https://www.linkedin.com/in/christinaelee/), Head of the Ambassador Network at Hostwriter (https://hostwriter.org/) and Editor-In-Chief of "Unbias the News," joins us on this episode. Hostwriter is working to give voice to all journalists, to connect them through a network for easy collaboration. If we are going to get the relevant information that we need, and the right information, this type of journalistic collaboration powered by inclusion will allow us to hear the voices of everyone reporting news from their countries. Part 2 will air tomorrow.

This week, Tina Lee, Head of the Ambassador Program for Hostwriter, talks to us about 'Unbias the News'; a new book she's editor-in-chief of. She explains how the book brings together the voices and experiences of journalists from all around the world, why it's so important to challenge our own worldviews, and how collaboration across borders can help unbias the news. In the news round-up, Peter and Esther try (and fail) to patch Chris in from India, so are left to themselves to discuss positive changes to Google's search algorithm and Marie Claire's print closure. Peter admires a very salty final cover from the Washington Post's Express newspaper.
