Welcome, and thanks for checking in today to No Vacancy The Podcast! This week I sit down with Steph Weber of The Weber Co and the visionary behind Cabins on the Cumberland. Steph has an extensive background in entrepreneurship, marketing, and branding, with an emphasis in influencer marketing. When she finally discovered the world of short-term rentals, she jumped all in and applied her marketing background to build a 6-figure cohosting biz in just 12 months – with a baby and a 3 year old! Today she shares with us what hosts should be doing to navigate the changing Airbnb landscape, and she breaks down the vision of the riverfront/9acre/11cabin/event venue she's building with partners in rural Kentucky. I loved hearing her exact marketing plans for this new project, and getting all the juicy, REAL marketing tactics from her, not just general advice. Niki is a travel agent who has been a client of The Weber Co. (and we've been clients of hers as well!) In this episode, Niki and her husband Nick (also high-school sweethearts) share how they got started in the short-term rental space and how Podcasts were their best friends while getting started. Something that they mentioned that stood out to me is having “Instant buyer remorse” which is almost always expected when making a HUGE investment like a 12-person home out-of-state. Within 24 hours, they had their first booking which definitely calmed some nerves - and they so graciously shared lessons that can help you in your short-term rental journey too! SO MANY QUESTIONS... And I get it! The business that earned nearly a million dollars in revenue took a major pivot. And here's the thing, I've spent 10+ years in the branding and marketing space. In April, Collin (my husband and business partner) and I started our short-term rental journey and it didn't take me long to realize that a solid combination of branding, marketing, and a stellar guest eperience was what this industry was really lacking. The idea of short-term rental isn't exactly new to me, this has been part of my vision for years and years. But now, I can align my expertise with this space and help hosts get a crazy ROI. The questions I'm answering today on the podcast are pretty vulnerable as I'm still facing some of the fears and challenges that come with rebranding. Tune in to hear my re-brand strategy and some of the behind-the-scenes work that has gone behind The Weber Co. 2.0 Make sure to tag us when you listen @hostedbythewebers so we can connect.

Well, the 5th time's a charm, I guess… (Yes it took 5 takes to record this episode) In March 2022, we officially launched our agency model. I learned very quickly that to scale an agency, you NEED team members. As I was trying to scale the agency, coach clients, lead a team of five employees… I experienced major burnout. Everything just felt super hard at one time. In September 2022, we experienced a failed launch into our coaching program. And when you have a team of five people to make payroll for, failed launches aren't an option. This led to something very unexpected… In January of this year, I closed doors to my signature coaching program that brought in over $500K in revenue, Brands That Captivate Academy. This was a HARD decision, but I knew it was no longer what the market needed. A couple of months ago, I had to skip payroll for myself, which did not feel good as a business owner working 60+ hours a week postpartum. But I had to make sure team members and contractors were paid. Now, The Weber Co. is just me, again. So where did I go wrong? Well, I know that I was serving too many people. When it comes to getting specific with who you serve, I'm my own worst client. But I think I'm figuring it out… Since Collin and I have come into the short-term rental space, I've realized the MAJOR gaps. Two of the biggest gaps are identifying your ideal guest and elevating the guest experience. I'm still very much in the infancy stages and I don't know what it will looks like, but I feel The Weber Co. will make a massive pivot in the near future to focus on branding and marketing for short-term rentals and boutique hotels. Until I know exactly what this looks like, I'm going to be hitting the pause button on this podcast to figure things out and continue to focus on my current clients. Until then, connect with me on Instagram @theweberco - I'm an open book! Stay tuned for the return and revamp of BRANDED! and until we meet again cheers!

If you've been hanging out with The Weber Co. for any length of time, you know that story-telling is one of the most under-leveraged content tools, and it is also what connects us with our audience. But as entrepreneurs, we are often too close to our own stories, and we need someone else to help pull the information out of us. In general, story-telling can feel too personal and be challenging to share, but in this episode, Kris shares her philosophy on how story-telling isn't about the guide but about the audience. Kris also shares with us how our brains literally can not disengage from stories, which is why we feel so compelled to pay attention until the end. Meet the Guests:This episode showcases three guests previously featured on Day Zero. Mike McSherry is the CEO of Xealth, a platform that facilitates clinicians prescribing digital health tools to patients, tracking usage, and improving digital health recommendations. Brandon Weber is the co-founder and CEO of Nava, a benefits brokerage firm that facilitates high quality healthcare to employers. Sean Mehra is the founder and CEO of HealthTap, a virtual-first, affordable urgent and primary care clinic. Key Insights:Healthcare presents a unique ecosystem for entrepreneurs. No market is as complicated, regulated, and confusing as healthcare.Advancing Technology. Entrepreneurism in healthcareis extra challenging because healthcare often lags in adopting new technology. A hospital may have cutting edge MRIs, and yet still use fax machines. Unpredictable adoption can be due variable reimbursement plans, conflicting incentives, and government regulations. (1:39)Fixing the Bottleneck. There is a huge explosion of innovation on the supply side of healthcare, but it is not reaching buyers. Part of the bottleneck is in the benefits brokerage industry. Brandon thinks the future might already be here, it's just not evenly distributed. (3:30)Expanding the Production Possibility Frontier. In the next 5-10 years, Sean predicts that technology innovation will make supply and demand transactions more efficient, such as telehealth better connecting patients to providers, and make supply itself more efficient, like AI and algorithms to help providers. One thing I know to be true is that when it comes to your future vision, whether it be for your life, your business, or both, it's easy to let the opinions of others convince you to play it small. But, the truth is, regardless of what anyone tells you, you do not have to settle for less. It is ok to want more. In fact, allowing yourself to want more is THE mindset shift that will transform your business. But I get it - It takes work and consistent practice to learn to trust ourselves and to give ourselves permission to dream. It's something I have to work on daily. Mindset hurdles don't magically disappear when you hit 6 figures or any other arbitrary goal. Entrepreneurship is a constant cycle of challenge and growth. And sure, consistently doing the mindset work is hard, but, Rockstar it is SO worth it because, on the other side of that, there is so much more for you. More impact. More income. More freedom. And to show prove my point, I'm inviting you to celebrate with me today as I reflect on how far I've come in recent years. From stepping into motherhood to growing The Weber Co. to releasing 100 podcast episodes, you're getting it all from me today. Listen in for a dose of celebration, mom-talk, and a real-life look at this wild ride we call entrepreneurship. We are going to answer a BIG question that I know you have, which is, “how much of yourself should you put into your brand”. Steph Weber, of The Weber Co., is here today to explain why it's important to have a clear message and a clear way to connect with your audience. What's really important to keep in mind is showing your face is one great way to create a human connection, be it through your content, in person, through video messages, through voice memos, even just showing up and associating your face or that voice to your business is one of the most important first steps. Listen is as she shares: If you should have a personal and business presence online What kind of content you should be sharing What makes up your brand Your audience wants to get to know the person behind your brand. I’m a firm believer that every single entrepreneur should have a coach. Here’s why: --> Coaches are generally specialists in something and they can help you grow quicker than you would on your own. -->Being coached keeps you in forward momentum because someone is holding you accountable. But here’s the deal: whoever you decide to coach with, you need to VIBE WITH. You need to connect with them. You need to know that they are the real deal (not just someone who can sell you on an idea or something that sounds cool, but then there’s no follow through). So, now you might be asking, "Steph, how do I know that a coach is the real deal?" If this sounds like you, you'll want to stick around for today's episode! Listen in as I share my best tips for choosing a coach that will actually help you get results in your life and business. Plus, get an inside look at how coaching with the Weber Co. has changed the game for my rockstar clients. If, after listening, you know that coaching with The Weber Co. is for you, I'm HERE for it.
