Adi Jaffe grew up as a privileged kid, first in Israel, then in Southern California. So how did he go from being a “good little jewish boy” (as he describes himself!) to finding himself up with a SWAT team in his face one day after waking up from a crystal-meth and GHB induced haze?Adi's story is a cautionary tale of getting caught up in addiction… of trying to “escape” living in reality… of trying to “fit in.” Once he began selling drugs, his life devolved quickly… he went from being a typical college student to finding himself literally banned from Beverly Hills, and living a life he likens to the one depicted in the movie, Scarface. He's been hogtied and robbed. He found himself carrying a sawed-off shotgun. His life - to put it simply - was a mess. And it only got worse with that SWAT team, which was followed by an arrest that landed him in jail for over a year.Fast forward to today: Adi has a beautiful life. He lives with his beautiful wife and adorable children in the Hollywood Hills. He helps people fix their lives, using the Ph.D. he earned from UCLA's top-rated doctoral program in psychology (where he graduated with honors!). He's a best-selling author with his first book The Abstinence Myth, and just released his second book Unhooked: Free Yourself From Addiction Forever. So how on earth did this powerhouse move from POINT A to POINT B with such drastic improvement? And could he help YOU do it too?Tune in to hear the whole story… and why he believes that gratitude played a central role in his transformation and daily glow-up.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Addiction specialist and former meth addict Dr. Adi Jaffe challenges everything we take for granted about addiction and recovery. Opening our KEEN ON conversation with his own dramatic story of a SWAT team arrest that turned his young life around, Jaffe goes on to deliver some startling insights: nearly half of all Americans are hooked on something, whether it's drugs, porn, social media, or the latest "miracle" weight loss medications. The author of Unhooked: How to Free Yourself from Addiction Forever takes aim at America's puritanical approach to addiction, arguing that complete abstinence isn't the answer and that even Alcoholics Anonymous emerged from failed Prohibition policies. In a particularly provocative segment, he dismisses the common recovery mantra that "you're always one drink away from relapse" as absurd and potentially harmful. The conversation takes unexpected turns into America's complicated relationship with addiction, from Donald Trump's teetotaling narcissism (ie: addiction to himself) to RFK Jr.'s controversial history with heroin. Most surprisingly, Jaffe argues that substance use itself isn't the real problem – it's merely a symptom of deeper "hooks" like trauma, beliefs, and habits that need addressing. His radical conclusion? You don't need to eliminate addictive behaviors; you need to replace them.Dr. Adi Jaffe holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He teaches courses at UCLA that address addiction specifically, research statistics or biological psychology and behavioral neuroscience more generally. Well-known for his online and academic writing, Dr. Jaffe's views on addiction and his research on the topic have been published widely in both academic journals and popular magazines and websites. He has appeared on several television shows including Good Morning America, The Dr. Oz Show, The Doctors and Larry King Now and in numerous documentaries discussing current topics in addiction. Kathryn interviews Author Adi Jaffe PhD. Having faced a potential decades-long prison sentence due to his own addiction as a young man before turning his life around, Dr. Adi Jaffe has crafted a successful treatment protocol that has helped thousands overcome harmful habits. His approach focuses on identifying the hooks—deep-rooted triggers behind compulsive behaviors—and replacing them with constructive habits for lasting recovery. As featured on CNN, GMA, TedX, Huffington Post, The Doctors, Dr. Drew, Jaffe is here to destigmatize addiction, debunk myths, address trauma, depression, and lack of purpose, and use bad habit change knowledge/tools to help you unhook for an addiction-free life. Dr. Jaffe now writes a blog on Psychology Today, and several other online and print sources. Kathryn also interviews Attorney Evan Schein. Do you share a bed with your partner? Increasingly, Americans are saying no. A new survey of more than 2,000 adults, conducted by the leading body of sleep research in the U.S., the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, has found that 29 percent of Americans—or nearly one in three—choose to sleep in a separate bed to their partner, a concept many have described as a sleep divorce. New York City based Divorce Attorney Evan D. Schein is here to discuss the many divorce options for couples. He is a partner with Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein. He leads the firm's litigation practice, leading a team of 28 highly regarded matrimonial attorneys. He is also the host of the Schein On podcast, where he holds in-depth interviews with judges, psychotherapists, authors, athletes, filmmakers, and divorce professionals, on topics like the psychology of divorce.
