This obsession can lead to a misguided attempt to be “perfect”. With many women feeling that they have to be perfect in every aspect of life - this feeling is typically rooted in the fear of not being good enough, and often leads to higher rates of burn out.But where does this fear come from and why are women so impacted by it? We discuss this with Dr. Andrea Mata, a clinical child psychologist and parenting coach who explores the concept of the Audaciously Imperfect Woman and how embracing this concept can help us all live or more value based life.

Do you remember what your dreams were when you were a kid… or maybe when you were a teenager. How about as you entered into your mid-twenties? Were you encouraged to dream, or told dreaming was foolish or a waste of time? And here's the big one: were your dreams crushed by betrayal and/or gaslighting? Any number of these things can disconnect us from this thing I believe all humans have initially – the ability to dream audaciously. So today, my guest and I are going to have a chat to connect the dots of what causes this, and how we can begin to dream again – no matter the reason that was taken from you. I'm Sarah Morales, the host of this podcast, and if you want to be in the know about special deals on my programs, new things I'm launching, conferences I'll be speaking at, and lots of other helpful information and tools, sign up for my newsletter by visiting my website: deconstructinggaslighting.com My guest today is my very good friend and amazing colleague, Rae Gaelyn Emerson of healing talks back.Story Time: Sarah and Rae geek out over the intersection of dreams and values. Their discussion leads them to a variety of connecting points, with all roads leading back to how brave it is to continue to dream after betrayal/trauma. Self-talk: “I am worthy of having beautiful dreams and seeing them come true.”Self-talk: “I give myself permission to dream. It is an important part of being human.”If you want to understand more about the ways gaslighting has shown up in your life, and robbed you of knowing yourself, loving yourself, and trusting yourself, check out my website, and Rae's website. I met Amy Keever at the wonderful ADC Fine Art Gallery in Cincinnati. We were both attending the 2023 Art Summit led by our past podcast guest Litsa Spanos and her sister, Sylvia Rombis. She walked in with the most wonderful hot pink pom-pom earrings and white artist smock and I, of course had to comment. That's all it took for us to hang out for 3 days before the Art Comes Alive Gala. Amy ended up winning Best of Show for that exhibit with her unique style. What a night. Here is more about Amy in her own words: "As long as I can remember I have had a passion for artistic expression and love the idea of challenging mediums in ways they aren't exactly created to be used- I love the play of hard and soft , like choosing to manipulate concrete to have a tenderness and elegance, painting in oils to give a work translucency and welding my sculptures that are actually quite strong to have a sense of delicacy. Somehow intuitively, I have chosen to embrace the road less traveled in both the way I think and the creative choices I make on a daily basis. I love to educate young artists on how I work as I don't think its typically a process they've seen before and have mentored young adults for many years now through teaching them an artform or giving them a chance to exhibit in a professional setting and experiencing all parts of being an artist." Amy is launching a new podcast called "Creatively Audacious" in May with the mission to spread kindness and happiness. She is definitely an #artistshelpingartists person. She also has a feature in the international "Where Women Create" magazine releasing on April 30th. Be sure to check it out. Enjoy Episode 72 and our time with Amy! The Alan Sanders Show
Politicians lie about the greater good, Legacy/mainstream media fear porn and the Left is going to Left

The Alan Sanders Show

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 27, 2023 65:01

Today's show opens with two separate items that are highly illustrative of how both politicians and the Legacy/mainstream media manipulate you with half-truths, conflated items, out-of-context narratives and what amounts to nothing by propaganda. Learning how to listen for those conceits and how to debunk the premise upon which they like to build their arguments is key to shooting down their Leftist agenda. In the first item, a Senator from the Green Party in Ireland wants her country to believe that all rights are limited and, for the greater good, that also includes speech. She builds her argument on a false premise, that laws restrict freedom. This is preposterous. To agree with her is to agree that freedom equals anarchy, where there are no guidelines to restrict bad behavior. Lawlessness is not the same thing as freedom and liberty. Her second flaw is in trying to convince people that if you hurt someone's feelings simply because you do not agree with them, is the same as physically harming a person. In her mind, she says it's important not to misgender someone and for the common good, they need laws to punish those who might do such a thing. Here is yet another example of a blithering idiot. The next item we discuss is a breaking news story from over the weekend about Covid cases rising heading into the Christmas season. I break down nearly every line of the story, pointing out their use of click-bait terminology and fear porn to emotionally control you over a nothing story. I then move onto the wealth amassed by many of the leaders of the Palestinian Authority and it should make you angry. So much money sent by the West is what is allowing terrorism to continue. It's not getting to the people, but staying with the leaders who only want to see the extinction of all Jews and the eradication of the state of Israel. We then get a historical reminder of how the International Red Cross told us there was no evidence of tunnels around hospitals or hostages being hidden there. It is eerily similar to a report in 1944 stating that there was no trace of installations for exterminating prisoners at Auschwitz! Moving to the economy, I play a short clip from a woman who is married and they both have full-time jobs. They are seeing their dollar stretch less and less and they are starting to worry about their own finances. This leads to a discussion over growing credit card debt and for people to start putting a budget in place for the holidays. There was a massive march against anti-Semitism in London and there was no violence, no genocidal chants and no hatred. Funny how all of that comes from the Left and Leftists who only agree with cultures of death, control and submission. Maybe it's because they want to control everyone themselves. Finally, we get a quote from over the weekend from President Joe Biden. Audaciously, he believes Hamas attacked Israel because he was getting very close to bringing peace to the region. This blithering idiot is trying to take credit for the Abraham Accords initiated and implemented by President Donald Trump. What should we expect from a massive narcissist who has made a career of stealing, cheating, lying and plagiarizing at every step? The plan, as it was laid out, was simple: graduate from high school, become a secretary with the state of Texas, and secure a good retirement plan. Add to that the dysfunctional family environment in which I grew up —replete with domestic violence, teen pregnancy, and criminal activity — and it seemed impossible to imagine a life in which I would achieve my dreams. Well — impossible to everyone but me. Because deep inside, I've always felt that fire to succeed. On some days, the flames flicker intensely, on others they dwindle slightly. But the burning desire to live an empowered life is always there. Despite all the external and internal roadblocks —from my family environment to a lack of money to low self-esteem — I have met and mastered every challenge with which I've been confronted. I earned my bachelor's degree in three years, and a master's in one. At 27, I was one of Texas Southern University's youngest-ever Ed.D. recipients. And I was the first African American to be crowned Miss Austin. I've held a lot of titles over the past two decades, directing higher education programs and helping to lead public schools. It's a blessing to shape education initiatives and be a daily presence in students' lives. But at the end of the day, my favorite title is one that doesn't come with an office. It's “mom.” If my past has taught me anything, it's this: the most important thing you can do —whether you're a parent, an educator, or an advocate —is to build children up and prepare them for the future. Your home is your training ground: Let them know it's OK to make mistakes, it's OK to fail, because we're here and we're going to get through it together. I am an author, life coach, and speaker that enjoys speaking to women across the world about "Living an Audaciously Authentic Life". Unfortunately, I lost my sister unexpectedly at the age of 48 and it has taught me to savor every moment. I have worked in the field of education for over twenty-five years, and I have recently become the care giver for both of my parents. As the youngest of six children, it was difficult to take care of my parents without sibling assistance while being a wife, mother, and successful entrepreneur. After losing my dad it gave me the boost of encouragement that was needed to continue his entrepreneurial legacy while impacting others on a larger scale. It is my goal to encourage others to look past their situation and enjoy the ride. I tell my children the same thing I tell myself, and I now tell you: Choose to be happy. You get one shot at life. Live it by your standards. Dare to be different. ** Conversations with Calvin ALSO ON AUDIO: SPOTIFY http://spoti.fi/3bMYVYW GOOGLE PODCASTS http://bit.ly/38yH3yP edits by Claudine Smith- Email: casproductions01@gmail.com

The Bible.   Audaciously, it's been called the foundation of our civilization, a sacred book, even our guide for life.   And actually, it's more than that.   Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”   From ancient times, God decided that He would communicate with humans through language, the written Word. He wanted us to have our history and His instructions for living in a form that we couldn't forget or lose.    In effect, the Bible is like a mirror we can hold up and look into. Do we see a reflection of Christ? Have we spent time with God today? Are we helping share the Gospel in our daily walk?   The Word of God is eternal. We can hold it in our hands and read it and apply it to our lives.    Do yourself a favor and read some of it today! We're doing some of that together right now, but go spend some time in the Word today.   Let's pray.   Lord, thank you for giving us your thoughts, and for helping us know you better through your Word. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Today I talked to Lilianne Milgrom about L' Origine: The Secret Life of the World's Most Erotic Masterpiece (Girl Friday Books, 2021). In 1866, maverick French artist Gustave Courbet painted one of the most iconic images in the history of art: a sexually explicit portrait of a woman's exposed genitals. Audaciously titled L'Origine du monde (The Origin of the World), the scandalous painting was kept hidden for a century and a half. Today, it hangs in the world-renowned Orsay Museum in Paris, viewed by millions of visitors a year. As the first artist authorized by the Orsay Museum to re-create Courbet's The Origin of the World, author Lilianne Milgrom was thrust into the painting's intimate orbit, spending six weeks replicating every fold, crevice, and pubic hair. The experience inspired her to share her story and the painting's riveting clandestine history with readers beyond the confines of the art world. Feminine Roadmap

Feminine Roadmap

Today on Feminine Roadmap we are talking about aging audaciously with Lisa Levine. Lisa is an age activist and author of “Midlife No Crisis: An Audacious Guide to Embracing 50's and Beyond”. Lisa's message is designed to empower women in midlife to pause and take a good look at what they want for the second half of their lives. Reconnecting with the possibilities that are out there to tap into, embrace and make a reality is a key mindset for aging audaciously. Lisa encourages listeners to pause, take a breath and follow the yes- that thing inside of you that is flickering. Audacious aging is really about taking risks, however small, consistently each day to develop the habit of hearing your inner voice and following that. Sometimes though there's another inner voice that is a bully and a harsh critic, Lisa points out that just because that voice tells you something doesn't make it true. Navigating the challenges and changes of moving beyond the paradigms that the world tells us takes awareness and self-compassion, another key component that Lisa focuses on.
