Charlie talks about the merits of that plan and the Democrats' continuing policy of siding with criminals over law-abiding Americans. Then Russia Hoax victim Gen. Michael Flynn joins to talk about what Russiagate accountability looks like and how President Trump can secure an America-first win in Ukraine. Watch every episode ad-free on members.charliekirk.com! Edward Coristine, famously known as the “Big Balls” member of DOGE, heroically saved a Washington DC woman from a carjacking at the hand of a gang of vicious little feral thugs. Fighting bare handed and without weapons, Big Balls drove off the feral gang victimizing the lone woman, at the cost of receiving a hell of a beating himself. Thank God the consequences were not more severe—had Big Balls been murdered by this feral gang, no one would have been surprised. But what if Big Balls had not been limited to saving this woman—and himself—using only his bare hands? What if Big Balls had been armed with the “great equalizer”—a lawfully carried firearm intended for lawful purposes, such as self-defense and defense of others. Would Big Balls have been legally justified in threatening the use of this pistol? Of drawing it from its holster? Of shooting? Of dumping the magazine entirely, and letting the bodies hit the floor, to use the urban colloquial expression? What does the LAW allow Big Balls to do in defending innocent life from feral predation? The #1 guide for understanding when using force to protect yourself is legal. Now yours for FREE! If we have to keep talking about Jeffrey Epstein, then at least let us hear more Tom Lehrer! Well, with Greg Dworkin on hand to round up the day's news, that's never a problem! Unless you're Donald Trump, that is. Because people think that guy sucks! Though it may just be worse given his bad timing. Of course, it could also be, you know, his “policies.” Or his policy of firing people who report statistics indicating that his policies suck. Or pulling out all the stops to rig the system, all while crying loudly that it's rigged against him. Or just maybe, the leopards he keeps sending to eat his voters' faces. Or maybe lots of Republicans are going to “get Flooded” when the time comes, whomever or wherever they may be. Given how bad the landscape is for Trump and his Republicans, why would any Democrat or independent ever fall into the trap of praising him? Something happened to “Big Balls.” We're just not sure exactly what. But we know it's being used as an excuse for yet another moment of Trump extremism. But don't let the extremism distract you from the revisionism! Whether at home or abroad. Really, you can't miss either the revisionism or the egotism. Soon enough, it'll be on display before the entire world. Know who else used the same play? Federal judges are getting fed up, though. And they won't play. Learn about the “presumption of regularity,” how Trump killed it, and what happens when it's gone.

Genevieve Wood and Tim Phillips join to break down Trump's proposed pharmaceutical tariffs and the legal challenges that could reach the Supreme Court. Since January, Americans have had serious concerns about Elon Musk's DOGE (the “Department of Government Efficiency”) and the privacy of our personal data. The government used to have careful guardrails in place to protect our information. Only certain people, after careful background checks, were given access. But DOGE was given unprecedented access to all of our data, across departments and agencies. And because Trump fast-tracked DOGE with an executive order, employees didn't have to go through the same background checks and screenings. Many were teenagers, including the now infamous 19-year-old hacker whose online name is (sigh) “Big Balls.”Okay, but Elon is gone now. So does that mean DOGE is over? Unfortunately, no. DOGE was never an official government agency (it just hijacked the existing US Digital Service), and Elon Musk was never officially in charge of it, so even without Elon, the work continues. A former DOGE employee is now the chief of staff at the Department of Energy, for example, and two former DOGE members are now senior officials at the Environmental Protection Agency. “Big Balls” himself is now working at the Social Security Administration.Meanwhile, Peter Thiel—another billionaire and the founder of the tech company Palantir—has been working to build a massive, government-run database of Americans. The goal is a one-stop shop with all of our information, from tax returns to medical records, all in the same place. You know, exactly the thing the government has always known not to do.Privacy used to be nonpartisan. Back in the 1970s, Republican Senator Charles Percy said, “I hope that we never see the day when a bureaucrat in Washington can use his organization's computer facilities to assemble a complete dossier of all known information about an individual.” Even in the past few years, data privacy has been an issue that transcends political parties. So reach out to your representatives, no matter where you live, to let them know that you don't want billionaires to have your data. And if all of this feels too overwhelming, try getting involved in your local community. He's LIVE! David Waldman has been keeping his opinions to himself for DAYS... and he can barely take it any longer. Thank goodness we're here! Trump's loyalist army, ICE, now better funded than the Russian army, liberated MacArthur Park in LA... all the sweet green icing flowing down. Oh nooooo... Jeffery Epstein? No, that name doesn't ring a bell over at the White House. Trump is due to claim that Joe Biden and Elon Musk created Jeff in AI. Ghislaine Maxwell, call your lawyer. Ted (Vacation) Cruz doesn't mind Texas but seems to hate the weather. Donald says not to blame him for the Texas floods, as it's all God's fault. (God must be wondering why He was dumb enough to choose him again.) Trump is due to claim that Joe Biden and Elon Musk created the flood in AI. Donald K. Trump believes Ukraine is real, sometimes. Is China spying on us through TikTok? Trump might believe that, but he does not believe in any laws that restrict it, or any laws for that matter. Trump tariffs are back on! Or they're back off! What, don't you believe him? Crazy Don is making crazy deals! Everyone's invited to our Open House, no reasonable offer refused! 90 days, same as cash! How can Abrego Garcia become a figment of our imagination, if US courts won't let him disappear? El Salvador now claims that it was only paid to imprison, torture and eventually kill people sent to them, nothing was said about “legal responsibility”. Whether it's shipping prisoners to Sudan, the Alien Enemies Act, or Birthright Citizenship, Trump just needs only one break to take the whole system down. Elon Musk had his Big Balls cut off, so instead of buying one of his stupid cars, he thought you might just want to send him money. (Wouldn't it be more fun if Elon spent a billion or two on private investigators?)
Today's Headlines: President Trump signed his sweeping budget bill into law. The law eliminates taxes on silencers and some firearms, adds new taxes on remittances, and includes bizarre provisions like $40 million for a MAGA statue garden and Trump-branded savings accounts for babies. It extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts, slashes Medicaid (projected to leave 12 million uninsured), defunds Planned Parenthood reimbursements, and guts food assistance while ballooning ICE's budget to over $100 billion. Elon Musk, furious over the bill's impact on his business, announced a vague new “America Party” as his teen protégé “Big Balls” was hired by the Social Security Administration. Meanwhile, 79 people died in sudden Texas floods, FEMA grant programs are quietly being withdrawn, and Kristi Noem is under scrutiny for accepting undisclosed payments from a nonprofit promoting her political ambitions. On the global stage, Trump's trade war deadline looms with only 3 of 90 deals finalized, and up to 70% tariffs threatened for non-compliant countries. Proximity talks between Israel and Hamas resume this week in Qatar, as Netanyahu visits the White House following Israel's rejection of Hamas's latest ceasefire demands. In this episode, Tara and Lee dissect the explosive fight over the so-called “big beautiful bill”—a sprawling budget package that has splintered the GOP in Congress. They break down how Senate leaders, including Lindsey Graham, tried to slip in Medicaid funding for 1.4 million illegal immigrants, violating federal law before walking it back under pressure. Despite claims of fiscal discipline, the bill still adds $3.5 trillion to the deficit over a decade—more even than Biden's spending—and could leave America with $60 trillion in debt by 2035. Economic advisor Kevin Hassett insists the plan will pay for itself if the country can achieve 3% growth and maintain tariff revenue, but Tara notes the track record doesn't support those rosy assumptions. They also explain how Republicans hope to offset some costs with rescission bills to cut funding for agencies like NPR and USAID—but question whether Congress has the will to follow through. The segment closes with updates on Big Balls (a nickname for the investigator cracking down on Social Security fraud) and a preview of rising nuclear tensions with Iran.
This week, we saddle up for another bumpy ride through the dystopian tech clown show. We kick off with the surveillance state's greatest hits: ICE raids sweeping L.A., a website literally called FuckLAPD.com that lets you ID cops by their mug shots, and a Norwegian tourist who learned the hard way that having a JD Vance chipmunk meme on your phone is now grounds for deportation. Pro tip: if you're traveling to the U.S., you might want to wrap your phone in lead and bury it in a cornfield. In the news, Big Balls has apparently rolled his way from Elon's Department of Government Efficiency to the Social Security Administration—because nothing says “government modernization” like a 19-year-old tech bro with a meme nickname. Meanwhile, Tesla robotaxis are hitting the roads (and maybe a few pedestrians) with human babysitters in tow, Waymo and Uber are turning Atlanta into Blade Runner Lite, and Texas wants a permit for your self-driving car. Over in AI hell, judges can't agree if training your chatbot on stolen books is fair use or just digital asbestos. YouTube, never one to miss a race to the bottom, is rolling out an AI Slop button so you can crank up the crap to 11.In Media Candy, Russell Crowe is beefing up his IMDb with Highlander, Henry Cavill is along for the ride, and Anthony Bourdain Day is apparently a thing (even though he'd have rolled his eyes at it). We also dig into everything from Minecraft movies to the sad demise of Blue Microphones at the hands of Logitech. Plus, Dave Bittner drops by to commiserate about malware, retro gaming handhelds, and why some Star Wars maps are basically porn for nerds. And yes—Windows is finally killing the Blue Screen of Death, proving even Microsoft can eventually learn to read the room.DeleteMe - Head over to JoinDeleteMe.com/GOG and use the code "GOG" for 20% off.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. David Waldman is BACK for the Friday KITM, then GONE for the weekend, then BACK on the Monday KITM! See how that works? In local, to KITM World Headquarters, news, the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University can't operate any “illegal” DEI programs to get federal funding, and they really like federal funding, therefore they're obeying anticipatorily. The White House appreciates their cooperation and will now require the resignation of the University of Virginia's president. In even more local news, the Superintendent of Loudoun Schools, Aaron Spence eloquently describes how Trump can kiss his DEI-loving ass. Meanwhile, a selling point for a four-year degree has always been where you'll be spending those four years. People assumed someone had fixed the DOGE by cutting off Big Balls, but he's only been tucked away, out of sight. The US is slashing overseas pro-democracy initiatives, yet Samuel Samson over at the US State Department wanted your tax money to go to anti-democracy initiatives to support Marine Le Pen. Le Pen had the self-respect to turn him down. Remember when real men were both strong and silent? Why can't we try bringing back those days again? Why are supervillains always such big mouths?
In this marathon Friday broadcast, CannCon and Chris Paul guide listeners through a day packed with monumental Supreme Court decisions and unraveling narratives. The hosts break down the ruling limiting nationwide injunctions, a game-changer for lawfare against Trump, alongside other split decisions on government overreach, Medicaid cuts, and LGBTQ curriculum opt-outs. They dive deep into the spectacle of Trump's Iran strike aftermath, exploring competing intelligence leaks, claims of obliterated centrifuges, and whispers of a pre-negotiated nuclear deal with Iran. The show also dissects the media's meltdown, highlighting how the same outlets pushing the Russia hoax are now spinning the Iran story. CannCon calls out the absurdity of the “12-Day War” branding while Chris compares the entire event to a live-action Top Gun reboot. Later, they expose the tangled web of Biden's autopen authorizations, ponder Big Balls' reappearance at the Social Security Administration, and cheer as Harvard's endowment faces new scrutiny. From Zelensky's dwindling spotlight to North Korea's bizarre mega resort, this episode is a sweeping tour of collapsing institutions, theatrical geopolitics, and the relentless push to reclaim narrative control.
Today's West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy Podcast for our especially special Daily Special, Blue Moon Spirits Fridays, is now available on the Spreaker Player!Starting off in the Bistro Cafe, Republicans have lost so much control at their hearings, even Melania got roasted by witnesses on live television. Then, on the rest of the menu, Big Balls never left, he's now embedded in the biggest agency Musk wants to break; Oregon's only congressional Republican has joined the chorus against federal land sales; and, Louisiana is latest state to redefine planet-warming natural gas, as green energy. After the break, we move to the Chef's Table where Apple revamped its EU App Store terms to avert more fines; and, Brazil's outspoken first lady is coming under fire, but she refuses to stop speaking out.All that and more, on West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy with Chef de Cuisine Justice Putnam.Bon Appétit! The Netroots Radio Live PlayerKeep Your Resistance Radio Beaming 24/7/365!“Structural linguistics is a bitterly divided and unhappy profession, and a large number of its practitioners spend many nights drowning their sorrows in Ouisghian Zodahs.” ― Douglas Adams "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/west-coast-cookbook-speakeasy--2802999/support.

David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are back with the latest in KITM and KITM accessories. You might not know that Dennis Kucinich was mayor of Cleveland, or that Jerry Springer was mayor of Cincinnati, yet you probably know every mayor of New York City over your entire life, maybe earlier. They NYC mayoral race is like no other, and Zohran Mamdani's Democratic primary win is a win like no other. The establishment fears him; the political class has been trying to stop him, and with good reason. Zohran is a populist who seems to actually be a man of the people! Not many saw him coming, because no one would bet that voters could find someone with genuine merit. Credit should go to ranked choice voting's ability to sift out the individual voter's judgement away from the rankest choice, Andrew Cuomo. As Donald K. Trump famously said of his bombing of Iran, “I came, I saw, I conquered”. Lately though, Trump's been quoted, “Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them?” (He might have picked up that quote elsewhere.) Is Emil Bove the most unethical judicial nominee in modern history? Or is the real sinner the whistleblower who snitched on him? If Trump is infallible, perceiving his actions as failures is heresy, and threatening him is blasphemy, and the whole idea of ethics and morality is open to discussion. HUD likes the National Science Foundation headquarters, so they are throwing out 1,800 employees. Maybe they'll locate affordable housing for them. At least you won't see Big Balls hanging out around DC… unless you mistake him for JD Vance.

David Waldman and Greg Dworkin pull out all the stops on today's KITM! David predicted that North Korea would be the US Hassle Target of the Day, but who would guess that it would turn out to be Burma! That and every other country darker than Trump's spray tan. That's the same criteria Stephen Miller has outlined for ICE deportations. The problem is, MAGA knows some of “those good ones”. They'd never eat dinner with those people, of course, but they sure enjoyed being served dinner by them. Time for Trump's three-word EO: “No, not them.” Meanwhile, arrest the moms, arrest their kids, arrest them all, let Trump sort them out. The Trump administration is spending $2 million to figure out whether those people cause plane crashes. If the report comes to conclusions that Trump doesn't like, they'll bury it, like the recent Agriculture Department trade analysis. Or say it's a Dem cult, like the American Bar Association, the Congressional Budget Office, or Jews. Howard Lutnick wants retribution over reciprocity even when neither is deserved. Trump cut nearly 2,500 NIH research grants as whatever the cure was wasn't going to be named after him anyhow. Elon Musk is gone but not forgotten. Big Balls carries on. ICE is hot for the DC career conscious, but that leaves the counter-terrorism field wide open for enterprising grocery store clerks like Thomas Fugate, whose eyebrow game in on point. Andrew Cuomo is somehow, again, the guy to beat for NYC Mayor, while in Canada they like their winners a lot more than their losers.
Today's West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy Podcast for our especially special Daily Special, Metro Shrimp & Grits Thursdays is now available on the Spreaker Player!Starting off in the Bistro Cafe, a legal scholar schooled Josh Hawley during a Senate hearing on all these “commie judges ruling against Trump.”Then, on the rest of the menu, instead of being gone in one hundred and thirty days, ‘Big Balls' and other core DOGE brownshirts are now full time government employees; a MAGA political consultant behind AI-generated robocall deepfakes of Joe Biden, goes on trial in New Hampshire; and, surgeons say the MAGA MAHA report wrongly dismisses tonsil and ear tube surgeries as harmful, ignoring evidence that the procedures greatly improve sleep, hearing, and behavior in children. After the break, we move to the Chef's Table where the outgoing head of Europe's drug agency warned of a surge of violence from the extreme right wing stimulant trade; and Trump's travel ban has an exemption for Olympic and World Cup athletes and coaches, but not for their families and fans. All that and more, on West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy with Chef de Cuisine Justice Putnam.Bon Appétit! The Netroots Radio Live PlayerKeep Your Resistance Radio Beaming 24/7/365!“Everyone in this good city enjoys the full right to pursue his own inclinations in all reasonable and, unreasonable ways.” -- The Daily Picayune, New Orleans, March 5, 1851Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/west-coast-cookbook-speakeasy--2802999/support.

Romania made headlines—and shocked the world—when it annulled a presidential election at the end of last year, citing evidence of foreign interference aimed at supporting a pro-Russian far-right candidate. It was a bold and necessary move, one that stands in stark contrast to what the U.S. should have done—and is now facing the consequences for not doing. But why would Romania take such a decisive stand? The answer lies in its history. Romania's Moscow-backed dictatorship was among the most brutal behind the Iron Curtain, a painful past that still unites much of the country today. In this week's episode, we delve into Romania's complex history, weaving in a personal story from Andrea's own family. Her father-in-law, Mihai Victor Serdaru, a medical student in 1956 Bucharest, attempted to lead a student protest in solidarity with the Hungarian Uprising next door. To help make sense of her years of research, Andrea turned to Dr. Corina Snitar, a historian and Lecturer in Central and Eastern European Studies at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Dr. Snitar is the author of Opposition, Repression, and Cold War: The 1956 Student Movement in Timișoara and contributed the chapter Women's Experiences of 1956: Student Protesters and Partisans in Romania to the book Women's Experiences of Repression in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. The discussion of how to topple a dictator will continue in this week's bonus show for our Patreon community, where we'll dive into a lively book club salon for political scientist Gene Sharp's revolutionary handbook, From Dictatorship to Democracy. Sharp's work has inspired liberation movements worldwide, and we'll explore its urgent lessons for us today. Look for that on Friday. A huge thank you to everyone who supports the show. We could not make Gaslit Nation without you! “Just as military officers must understand force structures, tactics, logistics, munitions, the effects of geography, and the like in order to plot military strategy, political defiance planners must understand the nature and strategic principles of nonviolent struggle.” ― Gene Sharp, From Dictatorship to Democracy Want to enjoy Gaslit Nation ad-free?
