Sam and Fred Kyung-Jin Rezeau, CEO of the NFT Marketplace Litemint, sit for an open Twitter Space discussion with world-renowned and Topps Licensed Artist Blake Jamieson. We touch on his roots, how he got started as a professional artist and get insight into the mindset it takes to make it in this business as a professional artist. About Blake: During a trip to Las Vegas in 2017, while dropping off a portrait to Rick Harrison (Pawn Stars), Blake met former NFL player and current NFL manager Jarred Fayson. Jarred encouraged Blake to paint for professional athletes, introducing Blake to a few of his clients (CJ Anderson, Jahleel Addae, Corey Liuget). Blake has since leveraged those relationships to become the premier portrait artist for NFL athletes, and is quickly making a name for himself in other professional sports. In 2020 Blake started working with Topps, redesigning 20 iconic baseball cards alongside 19 other artists for Project 2020. Since then he has launched a solo set, Topps 1951 by Blake Jamieson, and is currently working on Project70. Blake's art is in the collections of Howie Mandel, Gary Vaynerchuk, Rick Harrison, and over 250 professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLS, MLB, NHL, and PLL. His art has also been purchased for international private collections, including in Spain, Canada, Dubai, Australia, and Switzerland. Blake Jamieson is making a name for himself in the art world. He has been compared to the likes of Shepard Fairey and Alec Monopoly. He started drawing at the age of 4, but his path to becoming a professional artist was not a straight line. After college, Blake worked in digital marketing for a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 Companies to startups. On his 30th birthday, Blake decided it was time for a change. Blake set up his first art studio in California. The studio is in a rustic barn on a 2-acre property in Marin County. For the following three years, Blake spent long days and late nights painting vibrant portraits, abstracts, and experimenting with mixed media. Blake's art is in the collections of Howie Mandel, Gary Vaynerchuk, Rick Harrison, and over 500 professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLS, MLB, NHL, and PLL. We all know how Terrell Owens is, but did you know he had an NFT gallery? That's what NFT and Topps artist, Blake Jamieson, joined me to talk about this week. Terrell Owens is one of the greatest NFL players of all time and now he's entered the NFT community. Important names interacting with crypto in various forms is what will bring the community in the mainstream. Blake Jamieson is a renowned artist who has done work for Topps and is Terrell Owens' NFT partner. He manages Terrell Owens' NFT museum and they have ambitious plans for what they will do within the NFT community and the metaverse. Mr. Blake loves to make sports art, but stated that he will transition into various forms of art as his career progresses. He is of course an NFT artist, but that is not his only form of distributing his art. Mr. Blake and I share a similar marketing philosophy. It's best to distribute your product everywhere you can and take advantage of all avenues. Mr. Blake also makes beautiful NFT art, which I will include the link to down below. Throughout the episode, we talked about Terrell Owens' NFT gallery, Mr. Blake's art background, his introduction to NFTs, his plans within the NFT community, his art for various professional athletes, an in-depth talk about his NFT art partnership with Terrell Owens, his art for Topps, how to build a successful business model as an artist, and much more. I hope you guys enjoy the episode and yet another further look inside the world of NFTs.

My podcast, REACH OR MISS for entrepreneurs, reached its 200th episode, and - as part of the celebration - I decided to change its title to REACH OR MISS - Entrepreneurial Marketing Success. The 1st secret - your “big idea” or what you are “one of a kind of?” As I see it, the power and beauty of entrepreneurship is that it allows you to share or create what you are “one of a kind of” (the best at). That’s what entrepreneurs should focus on. I’m aware that many people choose to enter the entrepreneurial world to leave their 9 to 5 jobs or to make more money, and these are good reasons; not every entrepreneur wants to change the world or make an impact. However, once you decided to become an entrepreneur, your chances to make an impact on more people and move the needle is significantly higher if you focus on your unique, powerful abilities. I believe entrepreneurship is changing the world, not only because it can create technological or behavioral revolutions, but also because it enables entrepreneurs to choose to do what they are the best at and that means less mediocrity and much more greatness in our world. What any entrepreneur should look for while deciding about his/her professional direction isn’t only where they can make a living, make more money or determine the leading trends today (although these are good and important parameters as part of this decision). Entrepreneurs should start to look for their professional direction after answering the question, What am I “one of a kind of”? Meaning, what will I be outstanding in doing? The answer to this question lies in the meeting point between what you are best at doing and what you most like to do. That will also be the direction where you have the best chances to achieve significant success Once you’ve found what you are “one of a kind of,” you should find what product or service you should create or offer - one that answers a true need and brings value to a significant number of people or businesses. Blake Jamieson is a fantastic example of an entrepreneur that is one of a kind at what he does, and he literally created a new market category that fit his talent. Blake Jamieson is a pop portrait artist in Manhattan, NY. He paints pop art portraits for professional athletes and celebrities, including Howie Mandel, Drew Brees, Joe Montana, Gary Vaynerchuk, and over 250 other professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, and PLL. Blake’s path to becoming a full-time artist was far from traditional. Despite his passion for art at a young age, Blake decided to forgo art school for a more “practical” degree, studying Economics at UC Davis. After graduating, Blake began his career in digital marketing at Zynga. He worked in digital marketing for nearly a decade, working for small tech startups to publicly traded companies. On his 30th birthday, Blake decided it was time to stop building someone else’s dream, and start to following his own passions. He began painting full-time nearly five years ago, and has carved out a niche that allows him to paint every day. Most passionate about I’m a portrait artist located in NYC. I’ve had an interesting rollercoaster of a journey up until this point, but what I do now is paint portraits of professional athletes. Primarily, I have worked in the NFL, although I do work with other athletes who play soccer, lacrosse, hockey, and more. I created this niche for myself where an athlete, or the spouse or girlfriend of an athlete, is looking for a painting that will capture special sports moments for them. I’m often the person they turn to and I’m very fortunate to work with awesome people and get to paint every single day. Blake’s story I grew up in a very creative household. I was always encouraged to paint, or draw, or do photography – all the things I do today. However, I convinced myself, from a young age, that art was about being a starving artist and that it was not a career path....

Three entrepreneurs who used social media to stand> out and one influencer that helps us understand what’s next [caption id="attachment_3930" align="aligncenter" width="150"] Dhariana Lozano[/caption] [caption id="attachment_5574" align="aligncenter" width="150"] Blake Jamieson[/caption] [caption id="attachment_6023" align="aligncenter" width="150"] Dr. Ai Zhang[/caption] [caption id="attachment_5721" align="aligncenter" width="150"] David Meerman Scott[/caption] Wednesday, February 26, 2020—I’m making my last preparations for my flight tomorrow to San Diego, where I’ll attend the largest and most important international conference for social media. In my bag, along with my laptop and book, are two of the best face masks, which I promised my daughter (and the mother of my first granddaughter, four months old) that I’d wear throughout the flights to the conference—a 22-hour journey. The coronavirus crisis is huge. For the sixth year in a row, I’m flying to the Social Media Marketing World Conference in San Diego … and I don’t even provide social media services to my clients. However, throughout the last 12 years (among my 33-year career in executive marketing positions), I have helped entrepreneurs achieve business success. Social media is, by far, the most important method that any entrepreneur can use today to become known, stand out from the crowd, and reach sustainable success. Wednesday evening news: The health department just published new instructions and recommendations to avoid flying abroad and to avoid participation in international conferences. I won’t be able to physically attend the conference in San Diego this year. Within 24 hours, I made all the needed arrangements to cancel my flights and replaced my attendant in-person ticket to the virtual ticket. So, especially for the Social Media Marketing World Conference, let’s listen to three entrepreneurs who used social media to stand out and start building their successful entrepreneurship, and to one of the most important influencers in the field. Blake Jamieson studied economics and today is a portrait artist for professional athletes. Blake’s story I grew up in a very creative household. I was always encouraged to paint, or draw, or do photography – all the things I do today. However, I convinced myself, from a young age, that art was about being a starving artist and that it was not a career path. Instead of doing what my parents encouraged me to do, which was to study art in college, I decided to study economics and tech. I thought this was the safe path at the time, and I aimed to have a career in marketing. When I graduated from college, social marketing was just starting to become an actual, respected career. I was able to get into very grounded levels for some reputable companies and work my way through several different companies. Then I spun off and started working for myself as a freelancer. Ultimately, on my 30th birthday, I decided that I was tired of working for someone else’s dream. I wanted to follow my own dreams and I realized that maybe my parents had been right all along... I’m very grateful. Due to my background in marketing – especially digital marketing – and my experience in marketing a wide range of products, I understand how social selling works and how it is really a relationship-building business. I built up a moderate following of friends, family, colleagues, and people I met along the way. When I first decided to start painting, I knew that I had to specialize and come out with a specific niche. I decided that I would paint a specific painting for a specific subset of people. Because of my networking at the time, I decided to paint for offices, especially for tech companies. I met with the people on my contact list and told them that I was an artist and that I painted office art for tech companies. At first, I...
Blake's path to becoming a full-time artist was far from traditional. Despite his passion for art at a young age, Blake decided to forgo art school for a more "practical" degree, studying Economics at UC Davis. After graduating, Blake began his career in digital marketing at Zynga. He worked in digital marketing for nearly a decade, working for small tech startups to publicly traded companies. On his 30th birthday, Blake decided it was time to stop building someone else's dream, and start to following his own passions. However, I convinced myself, from a young age, that art was about being a starving artist and that it was not a career path. Because of my networking at the time, I decided to paint for offices, especially for tech companies. I met with the people on my contact list and told them that I was an artist and that I painted office art for tech companies. At first, I painted many paintings of Steve Jobs, Gary Vaynerchuk, and different iconic tech founders. Those tech companies aspired to be like them and wanted to put a picture of Steve Jobs, or motivational quotes, in their offices. I did that for two years and it was going well. I had my niece called out and I was gaining a reputation as one of the leaders in the space of Portrait Painting for Professional Athletes. There was a really lucky coincidence that when I delivered art in Las Vegas, I met a guy who played in the NFL and who was now a manager of existing players. He really loved my art and asked me to paint a few of his clients as a gift that...
This is one of those, I knew him when moments. I knew him when he was trying to find himself. I knew him when he helped me with my social media. I knew him when he was in dark times. I knew him when I saw him come blazing out of his closet to do…

The creative mindset is powerful – and guess what? We all possess it. Those who have tapped it may sometimes seem as if they possess superpowers but they don't; they are just normal people like you and me. The creative mind is simply a way off seeing and engaging in the world around us. Put another way, the creative mindset is a powerful thought process that can open doors and enable us to see opportunity where it seemingly did not exist before. In some cases, it can even make the impossible possible. Think for a moment about all the lessons that Rebecca Jackson, the Juilliard-trained violist, learned during her journey and imparted to us through the stories she told back in episode 87. Rebecca has used music to honor Holocaust survivors, unite refugees, and empower children. She's very much creating a positive Sound Impact in communities all around the world. Learning to play music taught Rebecca many valuable lessons as a child, all of which helped her get to where she is today. Regardless of our skill, abilities, knowledge, or education, there is always room for growth and we always have something more to learn. Who can you learn from? Well, in Rebecca's case, in addition to learning from her immediate family, her fellow musicians, and the incredible teachers and mentors she encounters along the way, she is also able to learn from the stories of others: the stories told through voice, through music, and through community. We have to learn to play together to create a collective, beautiful sound, beautiful product, or beautiful community. This requires an important degree of humility and open-mindedness to hear and see other people's vision. The incredible artist, Blake Jamieson, shared with us in episode 88 that despite growing up in a creative household, the idea of being a successful professional artist seemed outside the realm of possibility. So he pursued a degree in economics and ended up as a digital marketer helping make other people's dreams a reality. But that voice inside of him, the seed that was planted in him on the day he was born, kept nagging and he knew he needed to make change. The only thing he knew for certain was that his relationships would be a critical element to his success as an entrepreneur. None of us have to follow the paths forged by others – we can all take action, make ourselves more accountable, and treat our ventures as art so that we can achieve the impact we want to have in the world. The eclectic and talented Lauren Mayhew joined us in episode 89. As an actress and performer, Lauren encounters and manages changing environments on a regular, sometimes moment-by-moment, basis. She shared a ton of insight about developing the ability to be fully present in any situation, making your own opportunity, dealing with rejection, managing her own expectations, and much more. These are not just skills for performers; they are life skill that we all need to develop and hone – not just so we can survive, but so that we can THRIVE. Perhaps the most important insight Lauren shared is the importance of following direction. In her case, she receives a script and reads the script based on her interpretation of the character, the environment, the time, the place, her emotional state, etc. Her ability to adapt to the change, to be flexible to those guiding her, can be the difference between landing the role or not. The same is true for all of us. Whether it is a relationship, a business deal, or any other kind of venture, life will throw us curve balls, deals will fall apart, and relationships will change. If we are too rigid, it can prevent us from adapting and ultimately succeeding in life. This is not to say that you should simply toss in the towel if something falls apart. We should pause, listen, learn, and then respond. This is the perfect time to slow down. As many of you know, I am a Christian, and
Blake Jamieson grew up in a creative and artistic household, but he had convinced himself that art wasn't a viable career path. He worked as a digital marketer for eight years until, just a few years ago, he quit to follow his passion – and stop using his skills to build other people's dreams. Now Blake is an entrepreneur and an artist. He didn't have a plan, but he needed a change. During the transition, relationships were everything. “I think the way I was able to transition from a digital marketing nerd to an artist has all just been because of the relationships that I've built,” whether those are relationships with other creatives, entrepreneurs, or patrons. Blake's relationship with himself has also changed dramatically. “I've gotten a lot better at self-talk, getting myself ready for the day, and keeping myself accountable (because no one else is doing it).” I believe that we are the ones who are accountable for our choices, and one of the most powerful choices that an entrepreneur, artist, or parent can make is how they talk to themselves about what they are capable of achieving. “I do not have to follow a traditional artist's path to be a successful artist.” For Blake to achieve his desired reality, painting every day, he had to forge a new path – one that strayed from the traditional artist's path. Blake's unique path is creating art for businesses, and he promotes himself through social media, primarily LinkedIn. And, really, LinkedIn is about as unconventional as it gets in the art world. None of us have to follow the paths forged by others – we can all take action, make ourselves more accountable, and treat our ventures as art so that we can achieve the impact we want to have in the world. -- Resources: Check out Blake's art: BlakeJamieson.com Connect with Blake: Instagram | Twitter | Facebook -- We are brought to you by the Lawton Marketing Group, a full service advertising and design agency serving companies and entrepreneurs at all levels. Blake Jamieson was a few whiskeys in when he started thinking of ways to hack Tinder — a mobile dating app where users rapidly swipe profiles 'left for no' and 'right for yes'. Jamieson contemplated what would, in an instant, make someone choose his profile over all the eligible bachelors on the platform. His method, edit each photo to look as is if Tinder themselves had endorsed him as the 'Match of the Day'. It worked. Blake wooed over four thousand women to match him and chronicled the tale in a Medium article. The posts started to spread and he was eventually contacted for an interview with AdWeek which pushed the story even further. His story migrated to Reddit as users submitted it to communities like /r/seduction, /r/socialengineering, and /r/Tinder. As the wave continued across the web, Blake lay the foundation for Tinder Hacks... and so much more. Create social leverage with the Ghost Influence community. Blake Jamieson pulled up a seat at the virtual bar on this week's Social Media Pubcast and we had an absolute blast. Blake's main claim to fame is taking the Pool Supply World Facebook Page from nothing to more than 75,000 engaged Fans in a very short period of time. Blake shares his secrets of success. We also talk about Graph Search. I find it hilarious that neither of us have it yet, but Blake's mom does. Blake's mom actually comes up a couple of times in this chat! Blake and I also take a nice, deep dive into the discussion of metrics; namely Facebook Reach and understanding the metrics that matter for your particular goal. Of course we talk about the reporting bug and our annoyance over that topic as well as sift through the data regarding which types of content are best for generating website traffic -- second guessing what many of us have been doing for quite a while.
