Bible information and education is plentiful here in America. However, that's not the case in other parts of the world. Our plenty often blinds us to this reality and as such, we don't see the harvest that's before us, especially in nations such as Pakistan. Islam is the official state religion there and according to the 2017 census, 96.5% of Pakistanis identify as Muslim so the need for God's Word there is as great as ever. Joining Jim to discuss this issue live from Pakistan was Pastor Shahid Kaleem. He's founder and chairman of Christian Literature & Translation Ministry in Pakistan. He's been partnering for several years with Bible Tracts, Inc. for effective ministry of Bible tract and Bible distribution ministry in Pakistan. Don't miss this broadcast as Pastor Kaleem talks about the tensions with India, what it's like to live for Christ in Pakistan, specific challenges that believers are facing due to their faith, what his ministry is doing to meet the needs of people in Pakistan, what you can do to participate in this effort and much more! Her first books were a children's devotional and a personal testimony. The children's devotional has evolved into a series and an app. Writing for children requires understanding their developmental stages. Christian resources for children are crucial for fostering open conversations about faith. Joanne aims to engage both children and the adults in their lives through her writing. The process of writing simple stories can be challenging but rewarding. Collaboration with illustrators is key to bringing children's books to life. The God for Kids app provides a platform for reaching more children with Christian teachings. Joanne encourages parents to have faith conversations with their children without fear. Pastor Shahid Kaleem is founder and chairman of Christian Literature & Translation Ministry in Pakistan. He has been partnering for several years with Bible Tracts Inc. for effective ministry of Bible tract and Bible distribution ministry in Pakistan.Pakistan is a nation that comes in at number 5 in terms of world population with just over 251 million. Much persecution is taking place there against Christians because of their stand for the Gospel. This is not surprising because according to Voice of the Martyrs, close to 98% of the population is Muslim while nearly 2% is Christian. Yet while persecution abounds, Christianity is also on the rise. Listen to this broadcast and you'll hear Pastor Kaleem as he describes incidents of persecution/violence that have taken place in Christian areas of Pakistan and how this parallels what happened to Stephen in Acts 6-7. Also discussed is how the Israeli war against Hamas is affecting Christians in Pakistan, their constitution's stand toward Christianity, people coming to Christ in spite of persecution, the need for a printing press for his tract ministry, Pastor Kaleem's personal testimony and much more.Prayerfully consider giving so that as many as possible can be reached with the Gospel in Pakistan.More InformationGifts can be sent to:First Baptist Church425 Rusche StreetCreve Coeur, IL 61610Earmark the gift for "Pakistan Outreach"

The LGBTQ+ community has experienced so much in the way of harm. Much of this harm has come from Christians who are trying to uphold the historical biblical ethic on sexuality. How should followers of Jesus move forward? Today, Derek explores how Christians should relate to the LGBTQ+ community. It's Thursday, February 2nd, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Belarus censors Christian literature & denies church building Last week, Forum 18, a human rights group, released a report on religious liberty in the Republic of Belarus which is bordered by Russia to the east, Ukraine to the South, and Poland to the West. The survey noted continued restrictions on religion in the eastern European country. The regime of Aleksandr Lukashenko carries out surveillance and monitoring of religious communities. Churches cannot legally exist without state registration. The government denies church building permits. Officials censor and restrict the distribution of religious literature. They even prosecute and remove religious leaders from office. Protestant communities, in particular, have “generally found it impossible to get property redesignated so that it can be used for worship in line with the law.” Portuguese court: Pro-euthanasia law unconstitutional In pro-life news, a high court in Portugal recently declared a law to legalize euthanasia unconstitutional. The law is the third attempt to legalize such killings in the southern European country. The Constitutional court struck down the two previous attempts. France rejects making abortion a “constitutional right” -- again Meanwhile in France, the country's Senate has rejected a draft law that would make abortion a right in their Constitution. It is the third time the French Senate has rejected the bill. 51 is average age of Christian in England/Wales New census data from England and Wales found the average age of Christians there is now 51. It's the oldest average age for any religious group in those countries. Muslims have the youngest median age of 27. Those who identify with no religion had a slightly older average age of 32. The median age of the general population is 40. Since the census began, it's the first time that the average age for Christians rose above 50. Closer look at Hispanic American churches Lifeway Research released the largest survey yet on Hispanic Protestant churches in the U.S. The study found these Hispanic churches are newer, younger, and more evangelistic than the average Protestant church in America. Over half of Hispanic Protestant churches have been established since 2000. Most congregants are first-generation Americans. And over a third of the average congregation is under the age of 30. With their evangelistic work, Hispanic pastors report nearly three quarters of those who commit their lives to Christ become active participants in the church. Luke 14:23 says, “And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.'” Colorado Christian baker still harassed Jack Phillips, a Christian baker in Colorado, continues to face litigation for applying his beliefs in his business. Last Thursday, a Colorado state appeals court ruled that the Christian baker discriminated against a man who pretends to be a woman. The man, known as Autumn Scardina, an attorney, wanted Phillips to bake a cake to celebrate his so-called gender transition. Phillips plans to appeal the decision. He already won a victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018 after declining to make a cake for a faux homosexual wedding. Utah bans sex change surgeries on minors On Saturday, Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill banning sex change surgeries on minors. The law also places restrictions on prescribing hormone blockers. Under the measure, people who underwent so-called sex-change treatments as children can sue healthcare providers if they no longer consent to it. U.S. fertility rate up in 2021 A new report from the U.S. government found about 50,000 more babies were born in the country in 2021 compared with 2020. This reverses a trend of fewer and fewer births every year since 2008. However, the U.S. fertility rate in 2021 was still below replacement levels coming in at 1.7 births per woman. The report found the average age a woman has her first child reached a record high of 27.3 years in 2021. Births among White and Hispanic women increased, while births among Black, Asian, and American-Indian women decreased. Heaven welcomed creation scientist John Morris And finally, the Institute for Creation Research reports that Dr. John Morris died peacefully this past Lord's day at the age of 76. Dr. John was known as the “Indiana Jones” explorer of Biblical creation research. He was the second son of Dr. Henry Morris, the founder of the institute. Dr. John earned a Ph.D. in geological engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He also published many creation science books in his field including The Young Earth: The Real History of the Earth - Past, Present, and Future. Most importantly, he was known for his character. Institute for Creation Research President Dr. Randy Guliuzza said, “Anyone who ever met Dr. John Morris remembers their first encounter. Never was there a sweeter or more optimistic and loving man! In a word, John Morris was Christlike.” Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, February 2nd, in the year of our Lord 2023. Dr. Patrick Heron was born in Dublin in 1952. When he was 24 years old, he had a "Saul on the road to Damascus" type of epiphany while reading the Bible. Thus began his Christian walk. He became interested in bible prophecy concerning the "end times" about 1996. In 1997, his first book Apocalypse Soon was published and became a bestseller in Ireland. It entered the Irish bestsellers list after an interview with Gareth O'Callaghan, on RTE radio, who said he "read it in one sitting and was gripped." Another book The Apocalypse Generation was also a success. There has recently been amazing interest to-date in this new book The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse, published by Kensington Publishing, which Patrick believes is the FIRST EVER book proving overwhelmingly who built the pyramids and why. Patrick has a B.Sc. and M.A. in Business Studies from Trinity College, Dublin. He also holds a Degree in Theology and recently received an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Literature from the California Pacific School of Theology, Glendale, California, as a result of the research done in his book, The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse (Kensington Publishing). Dr. Heron is the Executive Producer of a TV special entitled Apocalypse and the End Times which is a Grizzly Adams production. This has been shown all over the United States and is currently available on DVD in stores nationwide. Patrick owns and runs his own company in Dublin, Ireland, where he lives with his family. He is not associated with any particular church or denomination. If you would like to do an interview or a "lifestyle piece", please click on Contact Us, above. - www.neph.ie
To what extent would you suggest filtering what children read? I want my students to read quality literature, and there's not a lot of good Christian lit for kids if you don't want to compromise quality. So when I'm making mainstream books available for them, what is good and what is bad?
Girls everywhere deal with wanting to be loved and accepted by friends. If they only knew that having a heart that displays kindness and acceptance are just a few pathways to acquiring beauty and genuine friends who become like sisters. Christopher Enoch believes that Paul is a false apostle and claims that the earliest Christians rejected him while only heretics embraced him. He also says that 2 Peter is a forgery. This is my response. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/david-wilber/support
If we would not send our kids off to be taught by the public schools, what makes the reading of great literature any different or better? For one thing, where there is no difference, concerned parents are certainly free to decide to opt out of reading certain books with their kids that they do not feel equipped to work through with them. “All things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial.” Where reading a given work, either at all or else at a given point, would not be beneficial, don't read it! Beyond this, it's important to ask the question of what all constitutes a benefit. The key difference to my mind ought to be whether the parents concerned can teach their kids – both objectively and by example – to read actively rather than passively. Passively Reading means engaging the work on a superficial level without second-guessing whether or how the claims being made therein are good, true, praiseworthy, wise, etc. Actively Reading, on the other hand, requires paying close attention to what is being claimed or alleged and testing the work against an objective measure of truth, goodness, and beauty. And for Christians, this means comparing the claims of the literature to what God's Word says is true, good, and beautiful. There is then to my mind a great measure of difference between, on the one hand, your kid going through trashy books promoting godlessness, sin, and folly in the public schools; and on the other hand, your kid going through works of great literature at home with your help. The pressure to conform, affirm, and accept is stacked against your kid in the public schools when they're being told by their peers and teachers alike to affirm the trashiness. In the public schools, your kid will be mocked for even entertaining the premise that we want to please God in keeping a close watch over our life and doctrine as Christians. They probably won't even get off the ground in critically engaging the work; or, if they do, they will at least get no help from their teachers and peers who engage the material in a committedly secular, godless way. At home, by contrast, your job as a Christian parent overseeing your child's education is to encourage and teach your kids to affirm what is good and to reject what is bad. This requires knowing what is good, true, and beautiful, but it does not require avoiding all content which even just portrays sin and folly, since that would mean avoiding even study of the Bible. For that matter, in the New Testament, we see the Apostle Paul being familiar enough with Greek poets and philosophers that he quoted them casually to those he was teaching and preaching the gospel to. But how and why did Paul do this? That is important to note, particularly where he did so without affirming or promoting everything said, written, done, and believed by the pagans he was quoting. When Paul writes that all things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial, he says he will not be made a slave to anything. Practically speaking, on this topic, that may mean we are free to not engage extra-biblical works. But we should not become a slave to avoidance. That may also mean we are free to engage extra-biblical works, but that we need to take care that no one – including authors of great literature – takes us captive by vain and human philosophy. The choice of whether or not to read and engage with great works of literature by non-Christians should pass the twin tests, then: of providing a benefit on the one hand, and avoiding enslavement on the other. We want the utmost of the first for ourselves and our children, but we do not want any of the latter for anyone, especially our children. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/support
