The resurrection of Jesus is more than a moment in history—it's the beginning of a whole new world. In this powerful Easter message, Pastor Chris invites us to see the empty tomb not just as a sign of Christ's victory over death, but as the dawn of new creation. From the garden where Mary meets the risen Christ, to the promise of resurrection power in our daily lives, this sermon calls us to move from grief to hope, from waiting to mission.Key Points:1. From Graveyard to Garden (John 20:1–18)Mary comes to the tomb in darkness, but leaves in the light of resurrection. Jesus—the true Gardener—calls her by name, showing us that Easter is personal and transformative.2. Death Doesn't Get the Last Word (1 Corinthians 15:20–26)Jesus is the “firstfruits” of resurrection, a sign that a new humanity is rising. This isn't metaphor—it's a bodily victory over death with real implications for today.3. Power to Go, Power to Grow (Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8)The risen Jesus doesn't just comfort us—He commissions us. Resurrection power sends us out to live on mission, bringing renewal to every part of the world.Take Your Next Step:Let Jesus speak your name.Live like death is defeated.Go with the Gardener to bring new creation wherever you are.Subscribe to stay connected and hear more messages of hope, transformation, and purpose.Learn more about Grace City Church: www.gracecityeugene.comFollow us on Instagram: @gracecityeugene

Funeral director and home death educator Lauren Carroll of Deathwives joins us to talk about a very spooky topic: DEATH! Just kidding, death doesn't have to be scary! Without death, there can be no life. Lauren soothes our fears and anxieties about death, and explains her tips for having a better relationship with it. It's decided: we're all having water cremations. TBD on what we do with our ashes (Laura might blast hers into space). According to home improvement app Thumbtack, 40% of millennials believe their house is haunted. While this is really just a brilliant October promotional opportunity, it inspires a conversation on the panel of our own creepy experiences with the paranormal. As always, our recommendations run the gamut: 'The Fall of the House of Usher' on Netflix (Laura), @PersonalFinanceClub on Instagram (Andrew), and freezing your cookie dough for seamless baking this holiday season. And in this week's installment of After Dark: The #Millennial HR team is going to have to intervene because Andrew is OUT OF CONTROL! While we're talking about death, Andy decides (by coin toss) who will be his Legacy Contact on Facebook when he dies. Pam and Laura share tales of being haunted by the Facebook profiles of dead people. "Hi! If you're receiving this email, I am out of life and will not be returning ever. Go to hell." “Who is there, then, that does not lament the loss of his friends, principally from imagining them deprived of the conveniences of life? Take away this opinion, and you remove with it all grief; for no one is afflicted merely on account of a loss sustained by himself.Perhaps we may be sorry, and grieve a little; but that bitter lamentation and those mournful tears have their origin in our apprehensions that he whom we loved is deprived of all the advantages of life, and is sensible of his loss. …Shall the industrious husbandman plant trees the fruit of which he shall never see? And shall not the great man found laws, institutions, and a republic? What does the procreation of children imply, and our care to continue our names, and our adoptions, and our scrupulous exactness in drawing up wills, and the inscriptions on monuments, and panegyrics, but that our thoughts run on futurity?” (Cicero, Tusculan Disputations, I.13-14)Figs in Winter: New Stoicism and beyond is a reader-supported publication. On January 26th of 2011, Ellen Rae Greenberg left work early as a blizzard was going to hit Philadelphia.  She was a first-grade teacher and she waited until all her students had left before she headed out and she gassed up her vehicle on the way home.  She got back to her apartment that she shared with her fiancé, Sam Goldberg, who was a TV producer for NBC.  Sam went to the gym for roughly 45 minutes and when he got back, the apartment door was locked with the swing latch, and he couldn't get in. When he entered the apartment, he found Ellen, dead, sitting against the cabinets on the kitchen floor.  She had 20 stab wounds and ten of them were to her back and neck and there were eleven bruises in various stages of resolution.  Since Sam said the door was locked and there was really no way for someone to flee the apartment, this was ultimately ruled a suicide.  There was a small amount of time that the medical examiner had this listed as a homicide, but after a secret meeting with the police, it was changed to suicide and the case was closed. Where is God? Psalm 139: 7-12 A Simple Question - Where is God? A short and simple question. Asked by many seekers today Asked by cynics today Asked by many broken people today A church? A temple? In nature? In myself? In a leader? nowhere? Everywhere? Psalm 139 – The “Omni” Attributes of God David deals with God's Omnipresence Vs. 1 – 6 deal with God's omniscience Not so much a theological response – more applicational Very difficult for us to grasp vs. omniscience/omnipotence Our Father in Heaven (Matt. 6:9) Mat 6:9 NKJV “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. And close at hand (Jeremiah 23:23-24) Jer 23:23-24 NKJV “Am I a God near at hand," says the LORD, "And not a God afar off? (24) Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?" says the LORD; "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" says the LORD. And localized - (Pillar of fire/cloud) Perplexing Question – Where? David asks this question: Psalm 139:7 NKJV Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? Flee from God? Why – depends on relationship with Him Is His presence a comfort or a concern? Implications of God's omnipresence: He cannot be contained in a building 1 Cor. 6:19-20 He cannot be restricted to a locality Jer. 23: 23-24 The Profound Answer – There! (vs. 8-12) David describes three things that will not hide us from God: 1. Death – doesn't hide us from God 2. Distance – doesn't hide us from God 3. Darkness – doesn't hide us from God Psalm 139:8-12 Death Doesn't Hide us from God (vs. 8) 1. God is present in Heaven – death will take us there 2. God is present in hell (Sheol – the grave) 3. Death is a transition for the unbeliever – reality of judgment 4. Heb 9:27 NKJV And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment 5. For the believer – a homegoing completion of our walk with Christ to presence of Christ 6. 2 Cor 5:8 NKJV – We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Rev 20:11-15 NLT Distance Doesn't Hide us from God (vs. 9-10) 1. Wings of the morning – the sun rising – the east – c2 2. Uttermost parts of the sea – Mediterranean – the west 3. Death is a transition for the unbeliever – reality of judgment 4. Geography of no consequence to God. 5. Those who tried to hide from God without success – 6. Adam & Eve 7. Cain 8. Jonah Darkness Doesn't Hide us from God (vs. 11-12) 1. Darkness limits our visibility – increases vulnerability – 11% 2. Depths of space cannot hide us from God – 1. Apollo 8 2. Cosmonaut 3. Spiritual darkness can make us feel vulnerable - 1. God feels distant, even though He is not 2. Darkness can't conceal us from Christ; He is with us always 3. Even in dark times – He is there for the child of God 4. Darkness doesn't hide our deeds from God The Practical Conclusion 1. Because God is omnipresent you are never alone – Isaiah 43:2 Isa 43:2 Because God is omnipresent, you can travel and live courageously – we need not be bound by fear of the present or fear of the future Rom 8:35-39 NKJV 2. Because God is omnipresent – you are accountable 3. God is omnipresent – you have His promises in Scripture for encouragement – 1. "I will certainly be with you" (Exodus 3:12) 2. "As I was with Moses, so I will be with you" (Joshua 1:5) 3. “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you” (Acts 18:9-10) 4. Deut 33:27 NLT The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He thrusts out the enemy before you; it is he who cries, 'Destroy them!' 5. John 14:16-17 NKJV “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever; (17) "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

This is an interesting chapter I thought I'd share with you from my book, Death Doesn't Have to be Morbid - life, death and learning to grieve. I've always wondered which is the better way to die- fast and furious…or long and loving. Having all the time to say goodbye to a loved one sounds idyllic, but it comes with consequences. Whereas with a quick and unexpected death, often there are things left unsaid. It's less painful for the one who dies. But far more for the ones left behind.   —- Many people find it hard to talk about topics like death and dying but personally I don't think we talk about them enough. This is a short sharp episode where I'm challenging you to think a little differently about a topic that many people are uncomfortable about. If you'd like to read the book “Death doesn't have to be morbid” in full or you think it would be good for someone you know, you can find it at all online book stores or purchase it here at the Wabisabiseries shop. —— And for more information about the Wabi Sabi Series, please find us here:- https://wabisabiseries.com/ Connect with us on Instagram here:- @thewabisabiseries Connect with us on Facebook here - @thewabisabiseries If you have a topic you'd love society to talk more about, or know someone who'd be great to come on our podcast, drop us a line at hello@wabisabiseries.com

Hello everyone, and welcome to our first interview for Comic Con International 2018!! Sherrilyn Kenyon is a #1 New York Times Best Seller, and you can absolutely tell that she LOVES her world/characters!! Her writing started WAY back before she ever wrote her first big hit! Sherrilyn has been writing ever since she was a young woman, at the behest of a family member or two. She has characters in her books now, that she has been imagining, and writing about, for over 20 years!! Because of this, her work is much more informed, and fleshed out than normal authors, as these characters, ARE a part of her family. They have lived, and breathed with her for almost her whole life, and you can feel like through her writing! With over 70 million copies sold, throughout 100 different countries, she is an international star, with an international following! Hitting the #1 New York Times Best Seller in 2007 for Devil May Cry #2, and in 2010 for No Mercy, Sherrilyn is definitely an author that you do NOT want to pass up! We spoke with Sherrilyn about two of her upcoming books: Stygian - "Out of darkness comes the light. From the loins of the Stygian Hell, you are born and you will be called Urian - The flame of our new people. And one day, you will be my blade. My vengeance upon them all. They took my son from me, and I take theirs from them. Together, my precious Urian, we will destroy the human race, and all the Gods of this earth. Death Doesn't Bargain - "But so are the demons who have broken free of their eternal prison and are bent on mankind’s destruction. The worst of the lot is Vine, determined to claim their lives for taking hers. She will see the world burn…and has the perfect lure to destroy them and Thorn, leader of the Hellchasers, once and for all. Kalder Dupree has never known a day of mercy. Born to a mer-race who prides themselves on cruelty, he sacrificed himself for the only woman who has ever shown him kindness. Locked in a hell realm, he doesn’t expect anyone to come to his rescue. He accepts the fact that he was born alone and that he twice died that way once by his own mother’s hand Cameron Jack is determined to set Kalder free. As a Hellchaser Deadman, it’s her calling, but her resolve stems more from the fact that she’s the reason he died in the first place. If not for him, she’d still be suffering. And she cannot allow even a not-so-innocent to be tortured for an act of kindness that spared her damnation."
