Many, including Christians, refuse to treat intimacy between a husband and wife as a true right. Refusing to acknowledge that intimacy is a right has led many to come up with any excuse they can muster for why a spouse would be justified to deprive their spouse. Paul, on the other hand, had a different view of intimacy. In this episode of the Bible Bashed Podcast, we will discuss what Paul viewed as a legitimate reason to not be intimate and what was an illegitimate excuse. ▶ Splash Page: https://i.mtr.bio/biblebashed ▶ Main Episode's playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtY_5efowCOk74PtUhCCkvuHlif5K09v9 ▶ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/BibleBashed ▶ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BibleBashed ▶ X: https://twitter.com/BibleBashed --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblebashed/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/biblebashed/support

Imagine a government plan designed to achieve these wonderful goals: 1. Make electricity SIX TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE. 2. Destroy America's security by removing our radar and missile systems' ability to see over the horizon to detect incoming threats. 3. Deprive people of healthy seafood or at least make it three times as expensive. 4. Take American tax dollars and give them to Scandinavian countries' pension funds for the long-term benefit of Scandinavian companies and workers. 5. Oh, and kill lots of whales by deafening / blinding them while building the magical machines which deliver these wonderful benefits. In a better - not even perfect - nation, this insanity would not occur. In that hypothetical nation, if someone raised such a bad idea, rational voices in government would tick off all the negative consequences to, say, destroying marine life to build pointlessly expensive electricity generation and the whole thing would stop. Sadly, we do not live in such a nation. Thank Heavens for driven citizens such as Meghan Lapp, who has dedicated thousands of hours to digging deep into this mess - all on her own time - to tell the rest of us how stupidly damaging the fallout from ridiculous political convictions can be. I will not steal her thunder; have a listen to this conversation. There are myriad lessons to be gleaned from this madness. One is that NOAA and any other agency tasked with delivering analysis to the government must be a purely scientific enterprise, with its staff insulated from budgetary or other concerns. We all watched what happened when "science" became divorced from reality and became one more political plaything. Here is another example of that abuse of the objective scientific process in pursuit of ridiculously damaging political aims. For those who wish to dig deeper, Meghan provided some helpful links: Save Right Whales (www.saverightwhales.org) Responsible Offshore Development Alliance (www.rodafisheries.org) An Examination Into Offshore Wind Industrialization https://www.youtube.com/live/j9MY7G8pi5M?si=G0_1XsBidT03NGw0 Cape Wind Info | Cape May County, NJ (www.capemaycountynj.gov) Information on the lawsuit against Vineyard Wind, taken by the Texas Public Policy Foundation- two short videos here: https://youtu.be/vlFwRIWRwf0?si=8XoNdGZMpcZASqgM and https://youtu.be/2F-bBTsK04k?si=QOpChT7k0ZCOx_3o --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/messytimes/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/messytimes/support
“Who is there, then, that does not lament the loss of his friends, principally from imagining them deprived of the conveniences of life? Take away this opinion, and you remove with it all grief; for no one is afflicted merely on account of a loss sustained by himself.Perhaps we may be sorry, and grieve a little; but that bitter lamentation and those mournful tears have their origin in our apprehensions that he whom we loved is deprived of all the advantages of life, and is sensible of his loss. …Shall the industrious husbandman plant trees the fruit of which he shall never see? And shall not the great man found laws, institutions, and a republic? What does the procreation of children imply, and our care to continue our names, and our adoptions, and our scrupulous exactness in drawing up wills, and the inscriptions on monuments, and panegyrics, but that our thoughts run on futurity?” (Cicero, Tusculan Disputations, I.13-14)Figs in Winter: New Stoicism and beyond is a reader-supported publication. If you're in a relationship with a narcissist, you may have experienced the frustration of being constantly deprived of sleep. Just as you're ready to unwind and get some rest, the narcissist in your life brings up a topic to argue about, or wakes you up in the middle of the night to complain about something you've done wrong. In this episode, we'll delve into why narcissists engage in sleep deprivation as a manipulative tactic, and what you can do to fight back. We'll discuss the narcissistic need for control and attention, and how sleep deprivation can be used as a tool to keep their partner off balance and under their control.
There are weirdos out there who brag about not needing sleep. In my early twenties I dated a dude who said, “You can sleep when you're dead.” This ain't right, y'all! Sleep is critical for immune function, mental health, vitality and more. What's the quickest way to drive someone mad? Deprive them of sleep! Over fifty million Americans have sleep disturbances — most undiagnosed, and one third of adults do not get enough sleep. SleepHealth.org has a 10 Commandments for good sleep, but I've narrowed mine down to a 0:10:2:1 method: 0: Rise & GroundA good night's rest starts the moment you wake up. No screen-rise! Get your booty outside and preferably barefoot so you can “ground” with the earth and feast your eyes on the natural light of the morning. Hold off on coffee for the first hour as your body has natural cortisol elevation to help you awaken. In other words, harmonize with your hormones, don't mess with ‘em! 10: Caffeine Close Stop caffeine 10 hours before bedtime. I go to my bed to read between 9:30 - 10:00 pm so no more coffee for me after noon. I'm drinking just one cup of decaf most days so personally this isn't an issue. If you're guzzling it all day, this is a major factor in your sleep issues if you have them. 2: Kitchen Close This should be three but I'm honest, it just doesn't work in my house. Close the kitchen and your gullet 2-3 hours before bedtime. No nighttime snack because you can't effectively rest and digest at the same time. You may fall asleep, but it won't be the restorative, deep kind.1: Blue Lights Out No screens of any kind one hour before bed. This means cell phones, tablets, televisions, computers, etc. This blue light tells your brain it's daytime. And messes up your circadian rhythm. There it is, y'all! Quick sleepy time tips. PS - I bring up prioritizing protein, my latest health-washing experience and more buffoonery by the American Heart Association. Oftentimes, I'm so wrapped up in my own perspective that I can really get lost in my viewpoint. I'm lucky enough to have a creative endevour with a beloved that helps me look at things in a different light. I think this relationship speaks to what many of us cherish; a friend who talks with you and not at you. This week, reach out to a friend and resolve to listen. Deprive yourself of the habit or impulse to react and take a breath to make sure you fully understand. John Zmirak. Article- My Pronoun is Legion and Reaction to President Trump's Indictment. The Eric Metaxas Show John Zmirak Apr 04 2023 John Zmirak of Stream.org starts the week with his reaction to President Trump's indictment. John Zmirak discusses his Stream.org article about demonic possession https://stream.org/author/johnzmirak/ My Pronoun Is ‘Legion.' Satan and the Nashville Church Massacre stream.org/my-pronoun-is-legion-satan-and-the-nashville-church-massacre/ The Ruth Institute March 29, 2023 By John Zmirak Published on March 29, 2023 • John Zmirak In a powerful forthcoming commentary, Mark Judge refers to womanhood as “God's masterpiece.” There are countless ways in which this is true. We can most fruitfully consider them by thinking first about the Blessed Virgin, Jesus' mother. And then about our own mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives. Consider their courage, self-sacrifice, wisdom and compassion … the crosses they bear and blessings they bring. But I know Satan's masterpiece. That is, the thing he made to ape, attack, and pervert God's Creation, which he hates. As an arrogant, lofty spirit, he loathes our bodies. As a sexless, loveless rationalist, he's revolted by reproduction. As a metaphysical terrorist, he's addicted to rebellion. So the Enemy who strives to destroy us (as proxies for a God he cannot harm) fixes his steely gaze on our soft and vulnerable parts — our hearts and loins and wombs. To Make Us Little Satans I mostly don't mean that the Enemy tempts us to sins of the flesh. That's true, and it's quite serious. But as C.S. Lewis observed in The Screwtape Letters, the Accuser isn't satisfied just trying to damn people by luring them to have sex too soon or too randomly. That's rookie stuff for him, too easily repented. No, the goal instead is to comprehensively pervert, twist, and turn against God Himself the very structure of His creation. To turn us not just into disobedient children, but little demons ourselves — consumed as Satan is with loathing, revulsion and rebellion aimed at God's exquisite handiwork. We see a strong streak of that in the works of the Marquis de Sade, the first pro-choice philosopher in history, and the father of the Sexual Revolution. His arguments were picked up by Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, mainstreamed into Second Wave feminism, and repeated cluelessly by the likes of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. De Sade didn't favor mere sexual indulgence, but aggressive, violent perversion indulged in complete with blasphemy, incest, kidnapping, torture, and murder. It isn't straightforward Lust that drives a man to imagine priests defiling the Eucharist in the course of raping nuns. That takes a spirit not of this earth, which hates the place and everyone in it. Sade was not insane. He was possessed. After he died in squalid obscurity, the spirit in him moved on. It made sure that Sade's tedious, sickening works began to fascinate intellectuals, who quoted it and reprinted it, making it somehow respectable. (Why were two high-budget Hollywood movies made lionizing this aristocrat who tortured impoverished prostitutes?) That spirit planted the seeds in subsequent centuries for the worldview we now see in bloom, its flowers of evil bobbing outside our classrooms and our libraries. Bad Parents, Bring Us Your Kids to Groom! We saw it outside what used to be my favorite late night spot in Dallas, Buzzbrews Restaurant in Lakewood, some months ago. Under new ownership, the place started hosting “all ages” drag queen brunches. That means, in plain English: “Bad parents, come bring your kids to be groomed by men dressed as strippers and prostitutes!” Such fun for all. When Christians announced a plan to pray and sing outside, the organizers of the drag event invited … Antifa, to show up in masks wielding AR-15s, to terrorize the Christians. The message was clear. These activists hate us because they hate Creation and God, whom they hate because they're possessed. Love the Victims, Fight their Exploiters I absolutely don't mean to condemn the typical victims of Transgender madness, which is a mental illness morphed by ideology into a Gnostic grudge against God. The Stream has featured detailed, sympathetic stories of “de-transitioners,” of people whose emotional problems were misdiagnosed and mistreated by deluded or greedy doctors. To those people we owe only mercy, kindness, and welcome. As the Gettys put it in their exquisite song, “O Church Arise”: With shield of faith and belt of truth We'll stand against the devil's lies An army bold whose battle-cry is Love Reaching out to those in darkness Our call to war to love the captive soul But to rage against the captor And with the sword that makes the wounded whole We will fight with faith and valour But the high priests of this new cult of Cybele — the Mediterranean goddess who demanded self-castration — are servants of our Enemy. And that's how they see us. No wonder that we've endured the first act of violence aimed at Christians by Transgenderists, in the monstrous Nashville school shooting — unleashed just days after Tennessee passed a law protecting children from Transgender grooming. That's no coincidence, as we'd probably know for sure if the authorities ever released the testosterone-juiced transgender mass killer's “manifesto.” (Spoiler: They won't.) A “Mostly Peaceful” Trans Day of Vengeance It won't be the last attack. They've promised that. What else do you think it means when we're awaiting the Trans Day of Vengeance? Not The Bee reported on an eruption of calls by Trans activists for more violence against Christians. The courageous Terry Schilling called things out as they are: So Splendidly Satanic What makes Transgenderism so splendidly Satanic, so much more baroquely evil than homosexuality, abortion, or any of de Sade's other private hobbies? The answer isn't simple. Instead, it has many layers of skin, like some infernal onion or fast-shedding snake. First, this ideology pleases the Enemy because it targets children: bullied boys, autistic girls, the victims of molestation, these and others like them get herded by their teachers onto the castration conveyor belt, the fast track to steroid poisoning. The innocence, vulnerability, and helplessness of children has always attracted the most evil among us — such as the shooter in Tennessee, whose real name and fake pronouns I won't even mention. Let her memory be accursed. Please Support The Stream: Equipping Christians to Think Clearly About the Political, Economic, and Moral Issues of Our Day. Second, the Trans agenda weaponizes and perverts our sympathy for victims — which finds its highest expression in our tears for the suffering Christ. The main power move of the demon-driven Left in our time is Victimism, the manufacture of fake victims to be used as stalking horses and puppets in a quest for ever more power. We rightly feel terrible for anyone tormented by confusion over the most basic human reality imaginable — our nature as persons of either one sex or the other. As Al Perrotta noted, “Something called the Trans Resistance Network released a statement that basically turns [the] mass murderer … into a victim.” Once our eyes are clouded by tears, it's easy to manage the sleight of hand that grants the Transgenderist high priests the whip hand over society. If you criticize the doctors, clinics, and drug companies making billions by mutilating children, the high priests reach into their hats and pull out … some tormented soul whom we are allegedly driving to suicide. They really are black magicians. A Power Grab, Backed by Threats of Violence Finally, the Transgender cult aims at staggering power, and quickly reveals its nature as a pretext for mass bullying and abuse. Allegedly in order to prevent an unproven wave of suicides induced by “transphobia” we must meet each one of the following list of demands (which grows by the news cycle): Deny the importance and reality of biological sex. Women become “people who menstruate” or (as per some in Britain's NHS) “Front Hole People.” Roll that around in your head, as you think about your mom. Allow mentally ill or depravedly opportunistic boys to take over women's sports. Destroy women's privacy in restrooms and locker rooms. Subject women prisoners to male rapists wearing wigs. Force the entire population to speak differently, revising a basic part of speech, the pronoun. Fully fund the mutilation of children's bodies through government programs. Then offer the same to soldiers, even prisoners. Shame as “transphobic” haters normal, heterosexual people who won't pursue romances with crude, surgical simulacra who ape the opposite sex. Cancel and censor authors, speakers, thinkers who dissent from all this Satanic madness. Deprive parents of custody if they won't enable this butchery to be practiced on their kids. Transgenderism's high priests are thuggishly trying to dominate us all, as part of a lunatic scheme to deconsecrate nature, and obliterate humanity as God saw fit to make it. If there's any worldview more openly diabolical out in the world today, I don't want to know about it. I'm middling at prayer, and terrible at fasting. Exploring a husband's mitzvah to provide for his wife
Sexual relations are one of the most common areas of conflict in marriage, even for Orthodox Christians, and the resulting problems can even lead to divorce. Yet many in the Orthodox Church avoid any discussion of sexual relations, thinking they have nothing to do with the spiritual life. What they fail to realize is that the reverse is true: the Holy Fathers, elders, Holy Scripture and the canons of the Orthodox Church consider this topic extremely important, and offer the faithful a wealth of information and guidance. Being ignorant of this, in a desperate attempt to save their marriages many seek help from those who virtually always give advice contrary to God's law. In this talk Father Kosmas uses the Holy Scriptures, the canons, and the teachings of various saints and contemporary elders to answer many questions that Orthodox Christians have concerning sexual relations in marriage. He especially emphasizes that abstinence from sexual relations, whether for spiritual or other reasons, often leads to many serious problems, even adultery and divorce. In particular, Saint Paul states that undiscerning abstinence during fasting periods, instead of bringing benefit, can become a source of temptation. The following questions are also discussed: why is it said that ‘Hell is full of proud people who have lived in virginity'? What days should a married couple abstain from sexual relations? How should couples fast and abstain from sexual relations when preparing for Holy Communion? Why were the Holy Fathers so concerned about married couples that abstained from relations for long periods of time? Breaking the food fast or breaking the marital fast: which does the Church consider more serious? In what ways can married people surpass the virtues of monastics? Other points covered in this talk include: the great need for spouses to discuss and be considerate of each other's sexual needs and weaknesses; Elder Paisios' surprising attitude toward strict spiritual fathers; how the holy canons give a married couple (and not the spiritual father) the right to ‘judge for themselves' with regard to sexual abstinence; Elder Paisios' advice to couples when one spouse has a more moderate level of sexual desire than the other; how the Church penances those who fail to abstain from marital relations on fast days; and the urgent need for books and preaching on the topic of marriage. FBI in McDonald's show, every single one of them used the phrase “Deprive them of their Liberties”. If you're not familiar with EA, you can read through the material on the website before realizing that it's just one more Geek Cult that young intellectuals of arrested development who yearn for a return to deep dorm room conversation by providing them with a largely pre-baked socially acceptable set of virtue signals that conveniently span a full narcissistic mask. And, like most cults, it seeks out that for which its target audience aspires while simultaneously demeaning the journey: "Hey, feckless white boy, this is the path to socializing with pretty women.” Caroline Ellison - Is this a fully mature CEO of a multi-billion dollar quant something or other crypto-Ponzi centerpiece, or the sexualized twelve-year-old daughter of one of the world's most powerful university professors? There is a strange paradox among the whiz-kids-turned-finance-power-players muddying the story of FTX-A, and it needs to be untangled. Were these kids sloppy-stupid while organizing these Ponzi-like entities that would blow up under such a wide array of circumstances? Don't Deprive Yourself of a Happy Day!Sirach 14:14 “Do not deprive yourself of a happy day; let not your share of desired good pass by you.”I was surprised at hearing this phrase in the Bible. There are a lot of places in the Bible where it talks about sacrifices and fasting and doing without things. It was nice to hear this verse. Do not deprive yourself of a happy day. This is something more and more of us are doing these days. We are spending too much time either living in the past or worrying about the future. I heard a really great sermon on the Elevation podcast last week called “Remember Lot's Wife,” by Christine Caine. If you have time you I recommend listening to it. So much wisdom in all she said. One of her main points, I believe she had several, was to not get stuck in the past. One of the scripture verses she mentioned was Luke 17:32. It is a very short passage with just three words. “Remember Lot's wife.” This verse comes in the middle of the section called Coming of the Kingdom. Jesus is telling his disciples what will happen when the Kingdom of God comes. Then in the middle of this explanation He says, “Remember Lot's wife.” Something I learned from this sermon is that there are 170 woman mentioned in the Bible. Some woman even have their own book of the Bible, like Ruth and Esther. However, when Jesus is talking about the end of days, He tells us to remember Lot's wife. What do we know about Lot's wife? The only thing I know about Lot's wife, the only thing the Bible tells us, is that when Lot's family was leaving Sodom, before sulfur and fire rained down to destroy the city, his family was told not to look back. Lot's wife looked back and she was instantly turned into a pillar of salt. Why would it be important to remember Lot's wife? Lot's wife was so caught up in what she was leaving behind, that she missed where she was going? I totally get this. They had to leave everything behind, they had to leave their house, their friends, any other family besides their immediate family. It was a lot they had to leave behind. It was also a much better life where they were going. The town they lived in was full of people doing awful things. And also, that town was about to be destroyed. If she stayed their she would have died. She knew this and yet she still couldn't help and turn back to look. She was too stuck in what she was leaving and it ruined the amazing future she could have had. Is this happening to you?Are you stuck looking back? Are you so caught up in what happened in the past, what you gave up, what you lost, that you can't seem to step forward towards your future? I am not minimizing what you may have lost. Some people have lost a lot and that is hard. I have a friend who lost her mom, who was her best friend this year. I just went to a funeral on Friday for another family who lost their mom. Loss is real and it is painful. It takes time to learn to live with the feelings of loss. I understand this. I also know that family member you lost wouldn't want you to stay it that grief and that pain. They would want you to get help to figure out how to move forward with the pain. Staying stuck in the past won't get you anywhere. Also, some of you may have had past relationships that haven't worked out and so you are scared to move forward with a new relationship. This is normal. New is hard and uncertain. It is ok to be cautious. It's ok to take your time. Just don't get too caught up in looking backwards that you miss the amazing future you could be walking towards. Whatever it is you are focusing on in your past, ask yourself, “Is this holding me back from an amazing future?” If the answer is yes, figure out what you need to do to let go of it. That might be different for each one of us. Maybe that means attending a grief share group, maybe that means seeing a counselor, maybe that means saying goodbye to a bad relationship. Whatever it is, you are strong enough to do it. You can do hard things! The other way we deprive ourselves of a bad day is we worry about the future. We have conversations in our head about what we will say if this happens or that happens, even though those things almost never happen. We worry about how we will deal with a thousand different scenarios when they occur and most of them never occur. I am not saying we shouldn't plan ahead. I think we should do our best to plan ahead in most circumstances. However, I don't think we should worry about everything that might go wrong. We will never be able to plan for every single thing that may happen. There will always be some level of faith or trust that things will work out. And if something happens, we will have plenty of time to worry then. We don't need to ruin this day worrying bout what might happen on another day. There is a saying that speaks the truth about worry and I just love it as it is a great reminder. “Worrying doesn't take away tomorrows problems, it just takes away today's peace.”No matter how much you worry about tomorrow's potential problems, it won't make your problems go away. However, it will make it impossible to enjoy the day you are living right now. There is so much wisdom in the verse above. “Do not deprive yourself of a happy day; let not your share of desired good pass by you.” How many days have we deprived ourselves of a happy day because we were either stuck in the past or worried about the future? How many more days are we going to deprive ourselves of happiness? I love how the second half of the verse says, “let not your share of desired good pass you by.” Do you even know how much good you might be missing out on by depriving yourself of good days? Some of us may need time and we may need someone to help with that grief or that trauma. Some of us may need to accept that the past has happened and although we can't change it, we can learn from it and move forward. We can make a decision to stop letting the past ruin our today. We can also make a decision to not let the unknown of the future ruin our today. We can make a decision to enjoy today, live in today and deal with the unknown things when they become known. The Bible is constantly telling us not to worry. Now we have a verse telling us to not deprive ourselves of a good day, and to not miss out on the good things in life. How many more times and in how many more different ways do we need the Lord to tell us not to worry, not to focus on the past, and to just live in the moment, before we actually listen? What if we heard Him today? What if we choose today to make the decision to have a happy day today, and then tomorrow and then the next day?Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today. Lord, we want to have a happy day, please help us. We want to stop worrying about the future, it's just so hard, this world is so uncertain. Please show us how to stop worrying. Lord, we don't want to be stuck in the past. We want to let the past go, we want to move forward, please help us. Help us to turn our eyes towards you and to know that you will help us be at peace with our past and you will be with us as we step into the future. We trust you Lord, we know you are always with us. Help us trust you more. We love you Lord, you are so amazing. You are the almighty one and we are so grateful for all you do. We ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I have an exciting announcement. I had a great time talking to fellow Optimiser Debra Cleveland about her journey through the Data-Driven Fasting Challenges and Masterclasses. During our live Q&As, Debra was always full of enthusiasm, inspiration, and positive energy as she learned to nourish her body instead of depriving it. This stuck out to me, and I wanted to chat with her to hear more about her ride through health and to see if she had any learnings and insights to share. We discussed: Why is taking care of your body and your health a priority for you? How did you stumble across DDF and the Optimising Nutrition Masterclass? What did you find unique about the process? I see you had some significant changes in your blood glucose and made the DDF leader board. What did you learn from tracking your blood glucose? What did you learn from tracking your macro and micronutrients in the masterclass? What tips would you give for someone just starting out?
