Jay & Steph Rose are the founders of Phase SiX, a media company focused on creating the highest quality content in the world of fitness. Through their content creation and coaching, they educate people on the power of developing better movement skills in the gym. Jay and Steph began Phase SiX with a big dream in mind. As you'll hear in the show, Jay and Steph started Phase 6 with the vision of building a media business and coming to the US. The journey from the UK to Australia and finally to the US, shows the endurance and grit demanded of entrepreneurs as they embark on their journeys. We dove deep into their story and uncovered their secrets to maintaining peak health through consistency and patience. A common theme of the show was moving slow to build strength, not only in fitness, but in life. We thoroughly enjoyed this testimony of how entrepreneurship in the world of fitness takes immense effort, vision, knowledge, and will power. A lack of patience is something that many riders feel shame about. I was one of those riders for many years, so I know full well how it feels. The initial frustration, the following swift judgment or potential explosion, and then the guilt that happens afterward. Let's be honest, coming out the other side from losing your patience is rarely a good place to be! And yet, for years I simply believed that I was not a patient person. Like it was something that you are either born with – or not Now, I do think that some people have naturally more tolerance and more patience than others. However, I also now believe that patience can be developed – in all riders. It is simply a matter of believing you can, and then committing to doing the work required. Need patience? Doesn't everyone? We're pretty sure you need to hear this. In this message, Pastor Jamie shares why we need patience, kindness, and goodness. And we'll learn how to develop this fruit in our lives. What is the fruit of the Spirit? The fruit of the Spirit are the various positive character traits displayed in the life of a believer, that are the result of an ongoing, healthy relationship with God. One fruit, Nine flavors. Fruit is the natural result of staying connected to a source. The Fruit of the SpiritGalatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Christians are told to treat others right. Matthew 22:36-40 Too many Christians are trying to learn the deep teachings of scripture, but aren't living the basic teachings of scripture. Fruit that helps us treat others right:1. Patience.Patience is the ability to endure adversity and wait steadfastly, while keeping a good attitude.Patience requires practice.James 1:2-4 Patience is a muscle you can build, and a mature Christian works it out. Patience requires perspective.James 5:7-8 When you have God's perspective, you'll trust God's heart even when you don't see His hand. 2. Kindness.Kindness is being pleasant, helpful and gracious towards others. When you are kind, you are a safe place for God to send hurting people. Ephesians 4:32 The key to kindness is adopting God's perspective on people.2 Corinthians 5:15-16 Don't treat people based on who you think they are, treat them based on who God says they are. 3. Gentleness. Gentleness is meekness—ability restrained by wisdom.Meekness is having the capability to do something—maybe even the right to do it—but intentionally refraining for the sake of others. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.James 3:13 2 Timothy 2:25 Are you bearing the fruit of the Spirit that helps you treat others right?

I’ve been asked and messaged a lot recently from people wanting me to talk about Patience. So I am, but not because I’m an expert on this or have the patience of a Saint because that is not the case AT ALL. If you asked me to describe myself, Patient would not be a personality trait I would use to describe me. I’ve definitely learned to become more patient as I have gotten older but some days I realize I still need even more. I share some things I have learned to do in order to not have myself committed or put my head through a wall.

Have you ever thought about why they say "Patience is a virtue"? Virtue is not only meant as an inherent moral goodness but also as a quality that we can develop if we apply ourselves to it over time. It is not necessarily easy to cultivate. Patience is a coveted character trait. During the times of great challenge, we naturally want the hardship to be over. We want to return to a life of relative ease, stability, and familiarity. The reality is, upheavals of the magnitude we are experiencing now have ripple effects extending well into the future. There are many uncertainties. Many unknowns. Many contingencies. Cultivating patience through the emotional and practical ups and downs is essential for our own well being and for us to be positive guiding forces in the lives of the students we teach and the colleagues we supervise. Mindfulness teaches us to be patient and interested in what is. It teaches us to work with the immediacy of our experience, to watch sensations, thoughts, and feelings arise and pass away. It reveals how within a great unchanging concern, there are infinite small pieces that are constantly vacillating. Our experience is not static. Becoming aware of the constant movement supports the practice of patience, it captures our attention, it keeps us alert and watching rather than bored, apathetic, or resigned. Work with the contemplations this week to open your own ability to be interested in your experience. Notice how that interest brings about a willingness to be with what is. That willingness enables you to be patient and allow. Support the show

Amy Edelstein will shed light on how and why doing something as simple as watching the breath, becoming aware of thoughts, and noticing sensations can improve our tolerance and our care.Support the show

This episode explores how to cultivate greater patience and cool the painful mind of anger. How does anger arise? Anger arises when we encounter a person or experience we find unpleasant. We then dwell on the faults of this object (this dwelling Buddha calls inappropriate attention) until our mind become unpeaceful and uncontrolled. Anger has arisen. Anger follows this formula: Unpleasant person or experience + inappropriate attention = anger All delusions follow this formula: Object + inappropriate attention = delusion (examples--jealousy, pride, fear, attachment) The solution is to notice when unpleasant feelings are arising and replace inappropriate attention with appropriate attention. Ideas for appropriate attention that stops anger are: 1. Accept the situation as it is, having given up the idea that it should be other than it is....After all, it is the way it is! 2. Think of the situation as purifying negative karma, paving the way for future happiness 3. Generate compassion for the person distressing you 4. Think of the faults of anger and tell your mind to stop Some faults of anger are: It harms our relationships We act in regrettable and unreasonable ways It destroys good karma It creates the cause to be unattractive in future lives It makes us appear unattractive now In this episode we studied The Dhammapada, Chapter One, Verse 3-5: "He abused my, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me." Those harboring such thoughts do not still their hatred. He abused my, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me. Those not harboring such thoughts still their hatred. Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world. By non-hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal." "If love is the driving force behind your actions and your thoughts and your words then you will automatically be more patient. You will yell less, you will be kinder to those around you, you will be more calm in everything you do. "
Do you consider yourself patient with your fitness goals? Most people have a VERY difficult time staying patient and focused while they churn and burn towards their fitness goals. It's no secret that building strength, losing fat, gaining speed, increasing muscle mass, increasing flexibility, etc, ALL take time. It's also no secret that during the TIME it takes to build these things, you have to continuously monitor your actions, habits, mindset, and daily decision making. Due to this, it's no wonder that most people can't stay motivated long enough to actually their goals. But in this episode, I talk about how to build patience. More importantly, we get into how to build patience in a way that it becomes habit and also becomes a feeling that is totally natural. When something becomes natural and habitual, it becomes effortless. Patience is one of those things that can be built as a habit. In this episode I also talk about what it takes to stick to a plan, or trust in a process. Ultimately, fitness goals can directly be mapped to a process. It's not complicated, but it requires that you actually follow the process. If you can follow a plan, you can build the habits of patience, and ultimately create a framework that is built upon being patient enough to work slowly towards your goals. Have a listen, and share with a like-minded friend. Lastly, if you liked what you heard and got value out of it, please leave a review in iTunes - it would mean the world to me. In Today’s episode of “Authentic Smile” I wanted to share my perspective on how developing Patience has helped my life and how it can help yours as well. Developing Patience can give you positive self awareness, create balance in your world, also can allow you to make rational smart decisions. We all can relate to heavy frustration with environments, with people (family, spouse, friends, even co-workers) at times and it’s very important to understand why the frustration needs to turn to HAVING PATIENCE. I pray my brief perspective of this topic can enlighten the listening ear to pay attention to this part of life and how it can help you for the rest of your existence on earth.
