They show us every day that bravery isn't just about facing danger—it's about showing up fully as yourself, even when the world might not be ready for it, and that sometimes courage looks like meeting hate with humor, compassion, and a touch of glitter. Today In the Den Sara sits down with the one and only Cookie Pusss, whose video of her powerful and surprisingly tender exchange with an anti-LGBTQ Christian protester outside the Canyon County Pride Festival went viral earlier this year. In this episode (Part 24), we dive into one of the most dramatic and painful chapters in early Letter-day Saint history: Liberty Jail. Joseph Smith was arrested on December 1, 1838 and eventually taken to Liberty Jail. Today we will cover his imprisonment, the chaotic legal proceedings that followed, and the eventual “escape” that allowed him to reunite with his family as the Saints resettled in Quincy, Illinois. We explore how internal conflicts, political pressures, treason charges, and widespread anti-Mormon hostility shaped Joseph's experience –and how his letters from Liberty Jail become some of the most cherished passages in Latter-day Saint scripture. We discuss betrayal, leadership crises, the brutality of Missouri's expulsion, and the Saints' struggle to survive amidst violence, sickness, and dislocation. This chapter also raises hard questions:Was Joseph Smith's trial fair? What role did dissenting church leaders play? How much of the Liberty Jail narrative has been “whitewashed”?What does Joseph Smith's behavior tell us about his character? We conclude by following Joseph's escape, his emotionally charged reunion with the Saints in Illinois, and the lasting trauma and financial strain the Missouri experience left behind. This is an episode you won't want to miss! Please purchase the book here.To support this series please donate here. Jason Naylor, artist and author of Live Life Colorfully, shares how growing up as the second of seven children in a Mormon family in Salt Lake City shaped his caretaker personality and his eventual escape to New York where he discovered creative liberation. Naylor reveals the symbiotic relationship between color and messaging in his work—the more positive and uplifting his messages became, the more color naturally emerged because he couldn't visualize kindness without bright hues. Drawing from color theory and neuroscience, he explains how yellow triggers hunger, why fast food brands use red and yellow strategically, how bright saturated colors ignite short-term memory while muted colors remain in long-term memory, and why a woman in a red dress commands attention not just culturally but neurologically. Naylor explores how color impacts space design, fashion choices, and personal presence, arguing that the right color is not about inherent qualities but about how confidently you wear it and how it makes you feel. Sutherland Institute recently commissioned Y2 Analytics to conduct a survey of Utah voters to investigate this question. By a 63-point margin, Utah voters believe that the policymakers they elect should be making redistricting decisions over judges. The USA Climbing competition season is well underway and athletes are showing up to qualification events across the country. On this episode of The Impact Driver Podcast, host Holly Chen invites former USAC Routesetting Director Mike Bockino to chat all about competition setting. Mike is someone who needs no introduction, but we're going to introduce him anyway. Climbing since 1999 and setting commercially since 2009, Mike estimates that he has set over 150 competitions, including 28 National Championships and 6 World Cups. He bounced between Salt Lake City and Boise in his early setting days before landing at The Front Climbing Club, where he eventually became the Director of Setting. In 2020, he became USA Climbing's Routesetting Director. Mike left that position in 2025 to join Essential Climbing. He is a USAC Level 5 National Head Routesetter, an IFSC Level 2 Routesetter, and a certified strength coach. When Mike is not setting or climbing, he enjoys making restaurant-grade tomato sauce. General Topics Covered Life of USAC's Routesetting Director and what comes next The evolution of difficulty in bouldering events The specialization of setters: Why do setters often gravitate toward bouldering competitions? Selective memory of competition setters: If competitions are so taxing, why do we keep doing it? Setting for athletes versus setting for spectators Assessing difficulty based on a setter's abilities How setters can manage the pressure of perfection and look past it Don't sleep on the soft skills of routesetting Personal limits within routesetting: Do they exist? Send us a textRHOSLC Spill The Tea.....Then Deny EverythingRHOSLC Season 6 Episode 12 First Amendment Rights and WrongsIn this episode, we don't return to Meredith and Brittani's bench conversation, so what we saw earlier is all we get. Bronwyn picks Todd up from the airport while dressed as a sloth, and she explains that choosing to stay married means embracing the good and the bad. Todd says everyone in the group probably owes someone an apology, and he's absolutely right. Bronwyn plans a “spill the Boston tea” party to force all the gossip into the open. Whitney and Justin appear to be in their new house with a stunning view, but she's quiet and upset when she notices a large transfer to a vendor from their account. The real issue is her resentment: she trusted Justin when he pushed her toward MLM instead of Sephora, and that decision continues to strain their marriage, proving once again that money is one of the biggest stressors between partners. Heather throws her daughter a “bed party” before she heads off to the University of Tampa, and Heather admits she's looking forward to having fewer responsibilities as an empty nester. Meanwhile, Bronwyn mails out Pride flags to businesses after Utah banned them from government buildings. Her mother, Muzzy, offers to help and tells Bronwyn she should be proud of herself, even though Bronwyn clearly still craves her approval. Muzzy admits she was raised by parents who loved her but always expected more.At the tea party, Angie arrives first and looks nervous, while Lisa and Meredith show up completely underdressed. Brittani tells Heather and Whitney that Meredith invited her to the park to “move on,” though Whitney isn't buying it. Lisa is annoyed the event focuses on Bronwyn's citizenship. The setup is elaborate, and Bronwyn explains they'll be labeling tea with the names of people they've talked about. Angie starts by admitting she questioned whether Lisa actually bought a horse and asked others about it. Brittani wants to know who spread the rumor about her flirting with Joao, and Whitney comes clean that she told Justin. Heather's rumor—Todd farting while making out with someone—is quickly dismissed by Bronwyn as pointless. Bronwyn apologizes to Whitney for repeating something she said at a lunch, and Whitney insists the conversation was private despite happening on camera.Things escalate when Whitney asks Meredith if she apologized for “torturing Brittani” for six hours, and Meredith says no. Whitney responds by calling her an alcoholic and pill popper, and Meredith bizarrely hands out drug tests as gifts. Whitney compares Meredith's behavior to her father's addiction issues. Mary says Meredith is remembering events incorrectly, and once again the producers stay silent, just like with Heather's black eye, which frustrates everyone. Meredith calls everyone liars and then denies calling Heather a liar, which makes the conversation even more circular. Heather just wants Meredith to acknowledge her behavior, but Meredith keeps denying everything. Bronwyn ends the night by introducing “friendship amendments”: families off limits (Bronwyn), be a woman of your word (Heather), be the friend you want others to be (Lisa), hear and forgive (Mary), keep marriages, businesses, and children off limits (Whitney), don't accuse without proof (Angie), see the best in people (Brittani), and stop reactive abuse (Meredith), though Meredith seems to be talking about her own behavior without realizing it.TakeawaysKelli is recovering from a virus and discusses the latest episode of Housewives.Meredith's character is seen as secretive and unengaging.Bronwyn's Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/

Lisa and Meredith continue to alienate themselves from the group by presenting different recollections of what happened on the plane but they quickly realize the group won't be swayed and insists on an apology to Britani. Then the episode goes from traumatic situation to traumatic situation, Britani and her daughter Olivia in therapy, Bronwyn discussing the loneliness she feels knowing her daughter and mother will soon be moving out, and Heather showing the world a very disturbing mattress.
