Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield…there are so many legendary comic strips that have appeared in the newspaper over the years. Originally intended to sell newspapers, their popularity soared and before too long there were dozens of artists making different varieties of comics. As they evolved we got comics that were silly, timely, political, and Pulitzer Prize winners. Classic strips from the 50s, like Peanuts, Marmaduke, Dennis the Menace, and more are still published today, either in reruns (not Linus's brother) or drawn by a new artist. As the 60s and 70s brought change to the world, the comic pages started reflecting it as well. Timely topics were sometimes presented next to our Beetle Bailey. Pulitzer Prize winning Doonesbury by Gary Trudeau proved that the comics could be important. Spider-Man and Star Wars brought other formats of our entertainment to the comics pages. And then we got a series of mega stars that blew up the popularity of that beloved illustrated section of the newspaper. Garfield, The Far Side, Bloom County, and Calvin and Hobbes became just a handful of reasons people would pick up the comics in the first place. How well do you know your comics? Let's play a game to see if you remember the punch line from the very first published strip from a few classics. Now that newspapers are going the way of the Dodo, what does the future hold for our beloved strip format? We're not sure, but we will continue to start the day with a laugh. Did you grow up reading comics? What were some of your favorites (or ones you avoided)? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Let's go exploring!” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. On today's episode of The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, Pat is live from the Barstool Chicago office and was greeted with gifts upon his arrival. We recap the Bulls past few games against the Suns and Pacers, dive into what happened postgame versus Phoenix, and give Billy D his flowers. Pat gives his opinion on the Ja Morant situation, the pressure it takes to be a role model to the youth, and music's influence on today's society (Charleston White was right). Later in the episode, Rone has a theory that AAU basketball could be directly tied to load management in the NBA, a stoplight and a bullhorn put Pat in a tough position, Pat tells the story of meeting President Barrack Obama in Chicago, and Mary J. These initial episodes were done before the 2020 pandemic. They were important then and I believe they are even more important now. We need to have purpose in what we do or we'll never have the passion and commitment to see it through. In this replay episode, I help you identify the Why in your life so you can jump onboard the goals train! Have fun! We are starting 2020 with a 4-part podcast series on Goal Setting. Recently, I was asked by Courtney Wisely of Rescue My Maid Service to be an expert on this topic. I did a live training through Zoom to 8 growing cleaning business owners in St. Louis to identify what topics connected the most. Then I refined my presentation to record a 60-minute masterclass on Goals & Accountability for Courtney's Maidivation subscription boxes. Since this content has been received so well by cleaning companies with large teams and growing businesses, I knew it would connect with my solo cleaning family! Surely, you can go to my website and watch my free 60-min masterclass or just listen to all 4 parts of this podcast series. Why does the Why matter so much? Let's just say it this way. Simon Sinek has built an entire company, platform, and brand on helping people and companies figure out their why. In his book, "Start With Why", Simon shares the concept of the Golden Circle where the WHY is in the center and the How and What flows outward from it. His experience with thousands of individuals and companies show that those that truly start with why, achieve the most success and significance. The ones that just go for the details, tend to lose their way. Without the Why, the How and the What doesn't matter.I learned a great exercise in San Diego at Social Media Marketing World. It's called the "5 Why's". In this exercise, you peel back the onion until you get to the real & true heart of your why. This is the vulnerable and most cherished part of you. It will create the fuel of inspiration verses the outside need for motivation, which is more of an air pump. This concept really connected with Courtney's Rescue Retreat attendees. In fact, let me share an example from the retreat."Why are you here at this retreat?" RESPONSE: "To get my systems in place.""Why?" RESPONSE: "To be able to automate my business and get to go back to Mexico for 4 months of the year."Why? RESPONSE: "Well, really to have my business fully run so I can go back to Mexico and start a family?""Why?" RESPONSE: "My 1st marriage didn't work and I want to start again and be a mom.""Why?" RESPONSE: "I've always wanted to be a mom and raise a family and travel."As you can see, the responses got deeper and more personal. This woman wants her cleaning business to provide the income and time freedom so she can live her Why. By the time you get 5 Why's deep, you should have something that is highly emotional to the person and is highly likely to light their own pilot light for inspiration verses outside motivation. The light of inspiration will never go out.Go to my Resources page to see my recommended book list including "Start With Why" by Simon Sinek. I also referenced my good friend Josh Melton of Athens Cleaning Company in Athens, GA in the Funny Papers. He co-owns this commercial cleaning company and helps other commercial cleaners nationwide get to the 6-figure income mark.
A Way with Words — language, linguistics, and callers from all over
There are word nerds, and then there's the woman who set up a folding chair on sidewalks throughout the country, cheerfully dispensing tips about grammar. She recounts her adventures in a new book. Also, slobgollion and slumgullion, comb graves, tearing up Jack, paging Dr. Armstrong, a brain teaser about book and movie titles, swotting up your Klingon, Parva sed apta mihi, a clever way to end a long phone conversation, and words worth inscribing in stone. This episode of the original Solo Cleaning School is one of my most downloaded ones to date. I have personally heard several stories how this episode along with a few others helped someone start a solo cleaning business as a side hustle. I can't tell you how exciting that makes me! I wanted to make one update to this episode based on where I am in my personal business in 2022. If you've followed this show at all in 2021, you'd know that I made the decision after 15 years of solo cleaning to scale my business. In fact, if you'd like to learn how to scale your cleaning business, you can follow this podcast and watch me do it! In my original episode, I shared that it costs between $500 - $1,000 to get your basic supplies together. At the time, I was keeping it as basic as possible. Would you like to see a list of the specific cleaning supplies & equipment that I personally recommend? I'll give you an example. I've used 3 products from the Amway Corporation for over 15 years. They are eco-friendly, water and coconut oil based, and the smell sells. The kitchen cleaner smells like citrus and the glass cleaner smells like melon. I have literally sold new house cleaning jobs and at least one office cleaning customer by letting them smell my cleaners during the estimate. Maybe that should be a Funny Papers edition. If you're looking for new cleaners or would like to see what other supplies & equipment I recommend, check out the Smart Cleaning School Resources Page.
Happy Valentines Day! We're back! For real this time! I wish we had something good to say about While You Were Sleeping, but at least See You in the Funny Papers sucked! Thanks for listening! The post 87 While You Were Sleeping appeared first on I Never Saw That.

'See you in the funny papers' is my favourite way to say good bye to the littles in my life because it speaks of joy and laughter and being together in some common and good, joy-filled place I'm looking forward to that place today. Praying for you
I started this podcast for many reasons in October 2019. I love creating and expressing ideas to others. I'm a natural teacher and the podcast platform has allowed me to get my ideas out of my head and do an audio journal for myself and for anyone that wants to follow. When I started, I was struggling to get my second solo cleaning business off the ground. The struggle wasn't tactical. I knew how to build a company. I just didn't want to. I was challenged by close friends and a new friend I met at a podcasting conference to start. I used this show as a public accountability to the world that I could and would build a second business. I did. For 175 episodes, I built my company and shared my weekly progress with anyone that would listen. Over time, I've added new features like the "Funny Papers" to entertain you with silly stories. I shared clips of membership and expert calls that I facilitate in the Smart Cleaning Tribe. At the end of 2020, I changed the name of the podcast from the Solo Cleaning School to the Smart Cleaning School, which brought the new tag line of "helping visionaries make the impact they were meant to make." This branding change opened the door to add a monthly long-form, hour-long interview with visionaries from the cleaning industry. I literally did nothing by the book. Normal interviews are organized and questions are sent out ahead of time. I didn't want that at all! I wanted to have a conversation with great people and ask them deeper questions than others in their spheres ask. And I wanted these amazing guests to feel comfortable enough with me to answer them. Therefore, I have no structure to my interviews. In fact, the average 60-minute interview that you hear edited is actually a 90 to 120-minute recorded conversation. I also didn't want to leave my solo cleaning friends high and dry. I added a 10th monthly episode called "Solo Saturday" just for this incredible tribe of cleaning owners that work by themself with no employees. I have simply kept this in front of me. I am creating shows for cleaning business owners all over the world to entertain them and to educate them on leadership, business owner's mindset, efficiency and optimization, and how to live a balanced, healthy life. Why am I sharing this with you, my faithful listeners of the Smart Cleaning School? Simple. I'm adding the next piece to this podcast and quite honestly, it's something I thought I'd never do. I'm hand-selecting excellent brands and companies that I personally endorse to sponsor the Smart Cleaning School. It blows my mind that this podcast would be downloaded over 50,000 times in all 50 states, 79 countries, and 6 continents. It blows my mind that companies would be willing to pay me to advertise their products to offset the costs of creating this show. The difficult part would be the WHO and the HOW. Who would I endorse and how would I do it? Most podcasts have a corporate feel when they bring in sponsors. The host takes a moment to thank their sponsors and then does a 30 to 60-second read or commercial. Sponsors pay podcasters based on the number of reads and how many people would hear those reads. I hope it doesn't surprise you that I wanted to do it differently. I have no structure to my interviews, except I want to extract the heart and vision out of each guest. I wanted my selected sponsors to be no different.Read the rest of this article at the Smart Cleaning School website

If you’re old, like Joel & Kent, then you’ll remember the days of newspapers and Sunday funnies, and this episode of Baconsale will bring about pleasant waves of nostalgia. If you’re Zack’s age or younger, well then, this will be a very educational discussion about the history of comic strips. We’ve picked answers for a dozen categories, and we’ll be reminiscing about such classic hand-drawn cartoons as Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, Garfield, Peanuts, Beetle Bailey, Dilbert, and The Family Circus. Press play to learn how amusing it is to hear someone try to describe the funny pages.
Paper Mice is a three-piece whirligig from Chicago that blends a freakish range of influences into miniature, prog-punk puzzles. Started in 2008 by Dave Reminick, Adam McCormack, and John Carroll, Taylor Hales took over for Adam on bass duties in 2013, and the band has been writing and performing together since that time. The band is a fixture in Chicago’s tight-knit DIY community, performing their high-wire “stop-start mess of rhythmic tics and awkward face plants” for dance-soaked warehouse hounds throughout the Midwest and East Coast. Over the years, they’ve toured and/or performed with musical peers Pinback, NNAMDI, Meat Wave, Melkbelly, Oozing Wound, and The Spektral Quartet, amongst others. Influences include The Beach Boys, The Residents, Abba, The Talking Heads, Nomeansno, This Heat, and Susana Baca. Paper Mice’s first album, Paint it Pink, featured sixteen short, spastic songs about bizarre news stories, botched surgeries, and hirsute politicians. The follow-up, The Funny Papers (also on Three One G Records), continued the band’s jagged jaunt through the world of current events with eleven tracks about canine heroes, fast-food, financial meltdowns, and Dolly Parton. 1-800-Mondays follows in this quirky tradition, with every song being about weird and ridiculous true stories from the news-- in particular, this album often focuses on fire (mainly, people setting things on fire accidentally/on purpose). Channeling The Residents’ strange conceptual brilliance, The Beach Boys’ pop sensibilities, and expertly arranged musical complexity throughout, the band also enlists Grammy-nominated Spektral Quartet, Mike Hogg, and Ben Roidl-Ward as guest appearances on the album. Though the LP has been in the works for almost a decade now due to various roadblocks, surely, the timing is apt for this ode to the absurd, as we seem to be in something of a golden age of insanity when it comes to headlines.
Jersey Jerry reflects on his journey up to this point. Bruce Buffer joins for a great conversation about his voice, the UFC and behind the scenes stories.

There are so many questions that clients and prospects have asked me over the years. As a consultant in the cleaning industry, I get asked even more. My cleaning company website has an in-depth Learning Library that I'm very proud of. Several of these articles are FAQs that I've pulled to the home page of my website. From time to time, I'll bring you one of these articles. Today is such a time as I wanted to mentally equip you, the solo cleaner, with how to answer the naysayers that believe solo cleaning is not possible, not worth it, or not professional. Here's a link to my article, "How Can You Possibly Clean Alone, Ken?". For the purposes of this podcast, I'm going to read it! There are 6 misconceptions that I highlight in this article and I encourage you to remember them as you connect with potential clients. As a side note, I added a 7th misconception for this podcast for solo cleaners directly.Solo Cleaners are not real businesses!Solo Cleaners take too long! I don't want to pay them extra for the same work!Solo Cleaners aren't as efficient as teams!Solo Cleaners have to limit their clients and I might lose them!Solo Cleaners can get sick or injured and I'll lose them!Solo Cleaners don't have systems and are unreliable!Solo Cleaners don't make much money! Since this one is not on my article. Let me clarify. This is true for the solo cleaner who doesn't realize their value. If you are charging $20 per hour or inherited clients from a friend at $50 per cleaning, you are not making much money and it's hard to imagine earning what I earn. If this is you, I encourage you to listen to every single episode of this podcast! To everyone else, I want you to realize that most of the 7-figure cleaning company owners started out as solo cleaners. I have a friend Hannah who earned over a $100,000 per year cleaning solo in her 20's and a college student. Then she hired and grew a team, so she could achieve bigger goals. Go back and listen to a recent episode I did, "Mission 20/20 Complete [Kenny add link]" to hear the results of my own solo cleaning business and how much income I earn. I am totally transparent and share my numbers in hopes of helping you. If you would like optimize your solo cleaning company like I've done twice, I encourage you to check out my Solo Cleaning School Elite Membership where I provide independent course work to train you in my ISO Model. You also get access to me through twice monthly Q&A's and access to like-minded, growing solo cleaners in our community.I referenced a listener of this podcast in the Funny Papers. Tonsha Hokanson is the owner of the brand new company, In a Jiffy Cleaning, LLC serving the Twin Cities, MN. They are doing outstanding work for their clients and in my estimation (having connected personally with the owners), they do it right. I highly recommend reaching out via email: inajiffyclean@gmail.com

Right in the middle of the hardest emotional week of my life, I took my oldest son Kenny on day trip to Jack Frost & Big Boulder Ski Resort in the Pocono Mountains. There are two monster lessons I learned this day and wanted to share them both. The first lesson is in the power of laughter that I shared in the Funny Papers. My Nana passed on February 22nd. The funeral was March 2nd. Our ski trip was already scheduled for February 25th. Teresa and I thought it would be good for me and Kenny to get away for the day. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. The fresh air and quiet time with the Lord. The time of refreshment and connection with my son. This was helping me through the worst grief of my life. Then I experienced the gift of laughter and it washed away so many tears. It's like King Solomon wrote:Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 - There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,King Solomon is known as the wealthiest and wisest man in history. Rulers of his day would visit him from afar, lavish him with gifts, just to hear him speak. I have read these verses hundreds of times and always wondered why Solomon ordered life events and seasons the way he did. The belly laugh I experienced was the polar opposite emotion of utter grief. It recentered me and brought me tremendous healing. That's why Solomon in verse 4 says, "a time to weep and a time to laugh".The second lesson was for my son as we rode the ski lifts. It was a dreary February day. The temperature was above freezing, but it rained on and off. Therefore, both mountains were empty. It was awesome. Kenny and I would take a few runs next to the ski lift. Then we'd see our tracks from the lift untouched, except by each other. That's how empty the mountain was. While we got on a lift, I asked the attendant. "Slow night. Not many here, huh?" He replied. "Yeah, you're lucky. There's only 26 skiiers here."Kenny and I talked numbers during that chairlift ride up. We figured (as a guess) that the average skiier brings in $100 in revenue to the mountain per day. Some rent, some eat, all buy lift passes. Then we ventured a guess that the mountain operates at a cost of $5,000 per day just to be open for skiing. This includes the mountain, snow making & grooming, staff, medical, food, etc. Kenny did some quick math and realized that the resort needs 50 skiiers per day just to break even. Big Boulder had 26 that night and were losing money! It's a great way to understand fixed operating expenses. So many businesses out there have large overhead or fixed expenses. The ski resort needs 51 skiiers per night to make any money. The grocery store probably needs that many as well. We have an awesome business! A solo cleaning business's operating expenses are so low that we can earn a profit with 1 client per week and in some cases, 1 cleint per month! You can't beat that. Here's the significance. In my first solo cleaning business, I was able to optimize to a profit margin of 85%. I kept $85 of every $100 I made. Big Boulder probably keeps $5 if they're lucky. Kenny understood this lesson and I hope you do to.
Greetings once again, another Funny Papers is hot off the press! This week we think about the influence our sense of smell has on our memory as well as our place in the universe. Find yourself a comfortable spot and jump into the happy box!

This is the craziest time of the year for the solo cleaner as EVERYBODY wants their house cleaned after Thanksgiving and before Christmas! Please allow me to help you declutter your scattered brains with one of the best remedies... HUMOR! Do you remember the "Funny Papers" in the Sunday newspaper? I remember my grandfather reading his comics after church every Sunday. I didn't get it. I didn't think they were funny. But he would read & laugh as he sipped his coffee in his Sunday best. That's how I remember it.I have decided to add an element of the Sunday "funnies" to many of my episodes and in this one, I am making the entire show to entertain you! That's it. Life is short. Laugh a little!
We dive deep into Ken's vision for the Solo Cleaning School of moms helping moms helping moms. The second are the current solo cleaning moms that need a strategy and each other to win for their family, yet also desiring to mentor new mom solo cleaners. The final group are the Alicia and Emily moms out there needing a solo cleaning mom to save them time and give them piece of mind.

Ever since Ben learned to ace Jungle King and Fireball in his family's basement as a kid, he's been a pinball fiend, seeking out machines on boardwalks and at bars so enthusiastically that he eventually founded Pinball Chicago, a league of competitive gamers and compendium of spots in the city that offer pinball. He starts by unpacking the older electromechanical machines versus the much more numerous and modern solid-state machines that brought the replacement of the characteristic bells and chimes and rounds out the conversation by listing the plethora options of barcades that have popped up around the city and some of his favorite tournament experiences. Notes: This was recorded outside of Clark St. Dog in Chicago, IL. Apologies in advance for the street sounds, unless you really like street sounds. Then you're welcome in advance for the street sounds. See Ben's show The Funny Papers this Thursday and next at 8 PM at the Prop Theatre. Catching Up: (0:25) Laura went to Disneyland for Dapper Day. We also talk about Galliday. She's been dying for both Mean Girls and Sunnydale Yarn Clubs. She's really enjoying Agents of SHIELD. And she did some family visiting. Jen has been working a million hours a week, cutting into her knitting time. She and Ron played two gigs, one at a wine bar and one at the Long Beach Art Walk. She visited her family and got to see her new baby niece and her other niece and her nephew. She's continuing work on her Firefly sampler from Watty’s Wall Stuff and spinning on her Threewatersfarm. Melissa went on a cruise with her knitting group and got a lot of knitting done, for the first time in a while (because she likewise work a million hours a week). She has a cold (not Legionnaire's Disease). She saw Kingsman and we talk about the violence in the film. And she's really excited for Furious 7. We also talk about inappropriate work emails. In the Knitting Bag: (11:05) As a note: Melissa is wearing her Customfit Featherweight Cardigan out of Dizzy Blonde DK in the Martha colorway. Laura passed the 2nd corner and on the 3rd side of her Yggdrasil Afghan by Lisa Jacobs out of Berocco Vintage Chunky Mocha. One more row until the second sleeve of Quinty by Bernadette Ambergen is done. She's making the XL size in Dizzy Blonde Studios Superwash Sock, color Marie. She started on Swirl Hat (Crochet) from Patons for her mom for Mothers' Day out of Knit Picks Gloss Fingering in black. She's all ready to start on Ink by Hanna Maciejewska in Dizzy Blonde Studios Superwash Sock in Applegate. She's also doing a magic ball preemie hat out of odds and ends of Knit Picks Brava and Berroco Vintage. And she's planning to do a Yarn Baby Shawl KAL with her friend Cheryle of the Carson Shawl by Romi Hill in 3-color yarn baby from Forbidden Woolery out of Pride Fingering in Smoke Signal, Illium and Mo Duinne Jen is almost done with the second sleeve of her Customfit Tunic out of Cascade Heritage. She's also working on her Bohus Cuff from her class from Stitches West. She's swatching for the Four Season Summer Symphony Wedding Ring Shawl by Russian Lily out of Gossamer Weight Silk/Cashmere from Colourmart in a cream color. Melissa is doing a test knit for Customfit that is way overdue out Wollmeise DK in Erbse. She is also working on her Coracle in Sweet Georgia Trinity Worsted in Oceanside. And another Customfit sweater that she calls her Korl!!! Cardigan out of Cascade 220 in Coral (and yes the name is a reference to The Walking Dead. She is also preparing for a knitalong with a coworker that she taught how to knit. They are going to make an open-front cardigan from the book Knit It!: Learn the Basics and Knit 22 Beautiful Projects, which we recommend for the beginning knitters in your life. Finished Objects: (22:30) Laura finished one preemie stripy hat that she cast on for social knitting for Stitches West. She's made it out of leftover Berroco Vintage and Knitpicks Brava. Jen finished her second 15-color Rainbow Sock in The Fab Funky Fibres self-striping sock yarn of the same name and the heel was out of black Cascade Heritage. She did the thumb joint top hat afterthought heel by Lara Neel and loves it! (You can find instructions in the Fork in the Road Socks pattern--which is free). We mention Lara's book Sock Architecture and her blog Math4knitters. Melissa blocked and seamed a sweater that had been done since December. She had a pile of stuff to block and seam, but she had a blocking block. All three of us have them. Devil's Tower: (25:37) Which segues to a boring Devil's Tower where we all have stuff to block. Frog Pond: (25:54) Melissa wants to do a shawl collar on her Korl!!! cardigan. She decided to wing it. She had to frog it one time. Then, history repeated itself, so Jen frogged it this time because Melissa just couldn't bring herself to do it...again. What are friends for? This sweater also had an issue with the sleeves, because Melissa generated the pattern with straight sleeves instead of tapered sleeves. This sweater has been a lot of knitting. This sweater is cursed. We mention the films Snowpiercer and Dracula: The Untold Story. On Deck: (31:31) Laura added Bunnies "R" Us by Marken of the Hat and I to her list of usual suspects. Jen's planning on starting on the Hitofude, redesigning the Joshua Tree Cardigan, something for her friend's baby and a shawl for her to wear at her sister's wedding. Melissa will start the aforementioned cardigan with her coworker. She also wants to make the adult version of the Playful Stripes Cardigan by Alana Dakos, Charlie's Cardigan by Amy Herzog, and she might make a third Leah’s Lovely Cardigan. Jen and Melissa both love how the sweater fits although the find knitting it a bit of slog. Knit Culture: (36:50) Stitches West wrap-up! Laura spent most of the time in her booth, but she enjoyed it. Her haul included a lace-weight linen gradient yarn baby from Apple Tree Knits, another 3-color sparkly yarn baby from Forbidden Woolery, a Little Brother gradient set from Yarn on the House. Sparkly "Exploding T.A.R.D.I.S." yarn from Steven Be and the book "Crochet so Lovely" by Kristin Omdahl. Jen and Laura got to meet Stephen West at the pajama party and he was very personable and funny (he judged the pajama contest) and he complimented Jen's Leah's Lovely Cardigan. Melissa got a ton of compliments on her Rainbow Sweater. Jen and Melissa had dinner with the Knitmore Girls and Maria from Subway Knits. Jen took a design your own Pi Shawl class and learned a new cast-on she loved. Jen got a mug and some stitch markers from Jennie the Potter, some lovely red fingering weight yarn from Jill Draper Makes Stuff for a sweater, some pink fingering yarn from Miss Babs for a sweater, and lots of vintage buttons, including Bakelite sets. Both Melissa and Jen got some rainbow yarn from White Birch Fiber Arts. Melissa enabled Jen to get some Indigodragonfly for a sweater (and Melissa got some too) from the Yarnover Truck. We love her colorway names. Melissa also got a Jennie the Potter mug and some citrus yellow Jill Draper Makes Stuff Yarn. Melissa got some new yarn babies from Newton's Yarn Country, one in hot pink and one in purple and they were a great deal. She also got several sweater quantities of yarn from Miss Babs in Perfectly Wreckless and Deep Sea Jellyfish and Funny Papers. Melissa and Jen took a six hour class on picking up stitches with Lily Chin and are now experts on picking up stitches. It was amazing. Jen took a class on Bohus Knitting with Susanna Hansson and it was amazing. She even got to see some of the original vintage garments, and even pick them up and handle them. They worked on a cuff in class as well. She wants to get a kit to make a sweater from Angora Garnet. And she also took a great stranded knitting class with Beth Brown-Reinsel, which was amazing, but her brain was seriously fried because it was Sunday. Melissa took color classes with Laura Bryant of Prism Yarns. Jen is not going to take so many classes next year; she is going to do more social stuff. Laura got to meet Marnie McClean in person. And Melissa and Jen got to reunite with a old knitting friend who surprised everyone by coming from England to attend Stitches (who also won the student fashion show). And everyone managed to have great food, including Psycho Donuts. We mention Exploration Station, Rockefeller, Enchanted Mesa, Green Planet Yarn, and Foxy Knits. Geek Culture: (1:05:00) "Goodbye Old Friend", we bid a bittersweet farewell to Leonard Nimoy and Terry Pratchett. Jen shares her favorite Leonard Nimoy story. Upcoming Events: (1:08:32) Vogue Knitting Live, April 17-19 at the Pasadena Convention Center. Laura is taking Amy Herzog's class. Camp CogKNITive, August 21-23, Camarillo, CA. Yarnopshere, October 17-18 EXPO Art Center in Bixby Knolls, Long Beach.
