Before he would become one of drill's longest-running Emcees, rapper Curly Savv was born David Simpson on October 18th, 1999, in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Canarsie -- a place where he generally got along with most people he met. In terms of his childhood, David grew up in a half-Jamaican and half-Italian family where he was the middle child of 5 -- but his parents split when he was quite young. His relationship with his dad early on wasn't great because his pops always seemed to think that his son was out there acting up on the streets. But on the more positive side of things – his dad was also a DJ who introduced his young son to music for the first time. As a youth surviving on the streets of Canarsie, David would come to be acquainted with his eventual musical partner in crime –the rapper, Dah Dah. These two first met while playing little league football, which is actually where David came by his nickname of “Curly” as well. As anyone who's ever seen a picture of this dude can tell – he's got some mad curly hair – a characteristic that he's had his entire life. Once he joined the football team, one of his teammates began calling him “Curly Fries” – the latter part of which Curly wasn't feeling for obvious reasons. But he'd wind up keeping the first part of the nickname and add onto it later as he worked his way up the streets.

Stats of the Week Jonno sheds light on the number 34 in terms of numbers of years of screen time in a human's life, and how that screen time could be optimised and used for positive purposes. Elt talks through the number 66, in relation to what Brits miss most about the workplace since the global pandemic hit. Meldrew Moments Elt is extremely grumpy about dog walking etiquette. Jonno is grumpy about face masks and the way people wear them, and lack of clear guidance from the government to help the public out. He's also grumpy about lack of standards and benchmarking around online consultation.

Traverse and Bang the Table have worked together on a number of really exciting projects with other partners over the last 6 months, so this was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on those projects, discuss emerging trends and themes in online engagement in an ever-changing world, and of course presented Elt with the perfect opportunity to ask Anna that all important question, "what are your favourite types of fries?" Emerging Trends & Themes in Online Public Consultation and Community Engagement Anna describes Traverse's work spanning research, engagement, consultation and evaluation, underpinned by a focus on: - Rigour: high quality evidence based on rigorous methods. - Inclusive practice: to involve the widest range of voices in their work they are continually developing practice to reflect the diversity of society. - Lived experience: belief that the people affected by a decision should have a role in it that goes beyond being informed. - Capacity building: as an employee owned business they know the value of collaboration, and help clients to develop the skills and capability to make good decisions. The Rapid, Online Deliberation on COVID-19 Technologies Project Traverse and Bang the Table teamed up with the Ada Lovelace Institute & Involve to run a project over a 3 week period. Anna describes the collaborative approach, intended outcomes and describes how the project took shape. The quality of the deliberation was really aided by the ability for participants to engage online and offline, yielding great results, feedback and findings. Meldrew Moments Anna is always "glass half full", super perky and chirpy, but did manage to get grumpy about video conference meetings over running.
