On this month's Club Random Classics, Bill Maher revisits one of his most electric sit-downs with comedian Kathy Griffin. The two dig into why Kathy turns everything into a fight, her explosive war with MAGA nation, and what actually happens when the internet decides to cancel you. Kathy breaks down the real story behind that infamous Trump photo, the fallout it caused, and the long list of people who sued her over it. She and Bill also geek out on Joe Rogan's brilliance, revisit the upsetting Kennedy scene from the Marilyn Monroe biopic, and Bill pitches Kathy an entire TV show idea on the spot. This week we're checking in on Kathy Griffin who actually has a weekly video podcast. Of all the people who you'd think would have an audio-only show, Kathy's on the top of the list. She is still fighting a battle against Donald Trump that our president is unaware is happening. She was on broadway performing in some play that totally bombed and got to take a private jet back to LA with Rosie O'Donnell. If I could sum this up in one word it would be “insufferable.” A listener mailed in Artie Fletcher's stand up “special” on DVD. Artie is able to squeeze so many hack bits in it's almost impressive. Adam Busch has a supercut that really proves Kevin Brennan has morphed into a bitter hasbeen who is almost identical to Stuttering John. Jerry Banfield is critical of our critiques. Hopefully he listens to us this time because he's about to make the same mistake that put him $600k in debt in the past. Opie is trying the reverse psychology beg that got him to his goal last week. The problem is, there just aren't enough people watching to make this work. Steel Toe is trying to turn not allowing me on his show into a win. No one is buying it because it doesn't make any sense. Megan joins us for another Aaron Imholte “Gay Thoughts,” a round of “Is It Gay?” and Simon's “Opie or Burr” game. We finish with Spotify comments and your voicemails. Mick Jagger's New York Times response to John Mulaney's story that Jagger wasn't “nice,” with Jagger saying fame can disassociate you from “real life” and that he's not his stage persona. The episode recounts Dave Chappelle's appearance at Usher's Washington, DC show, where Chappelle grabbed “Usher bucks” and made it rain, plus a brief anecdote about being around Adam Sandler during Jamie Foxx's radio show. TMZ coverage of Amy Schumer's bikini post is noted, and Kathy Griffin's viral photo with a 22-year-old is revealed as a “social media sociological experiment,” sparking debate about age gaps. Pete Davidson is set to headline Just for Laughs Toronto (Sept. 24–Oct. 3) with a wider lineup. Late-night ratings are covered, with Jimmy Kimmel leading June viewership, and NBC eyeing summer gains for Fallon and Meyers. Greta Thunberg and her sister are a little bit different. One is an activist, one is kind of a skank. Ariana Grande is too skinny. Ethan Slater threw everything away to nail her for a bit. Following the dramatic change in his appearance, Owen Shroyer has been compared to or mistaken for various figures and characters, including Kathy Griffin, Aunt Gladys from Weapons, Heath Ledger's Joker, Buffalo Bill, Beetlejuice, the QAnon Shaman, and a “Timu” version of Alex Jones.Summary of IPS DEprogram (July 2, 2026)This session focuses on the “Great Deconstruction Project,” which aims to delineate between reality and the “world stage”. The host, Tim Ozman, analyzes recent media events—such as the appearance changes of Owen Shroyer and the reported death of Charlie Kirk—not as organic news, but as scripted “influence operations” designed to trigger predictable emotional responses in the public. By applying “Metascript” analysis, the program encourages listeners to move beyond “Trutherville” (the world of government-manufactured conspiracy subplots) and become “informed disbelievers” in “Realville”.Key Topics* The “Squibbed” Death of Charlie Kirk: The program asserts that Charlie Kirk's public “assassination” was a choreographed simulation involving Hollywood-style “blood bags” (squibs) and crisis actors. The host argues that faking a death publicly is a “ridiculous notion” for a real witness protection scenario and instead points to the event being a “psychological warfare operation”.* Erica Kirk as an Engineered Archetype: Erica Kirk is described as an actress playing a “pre-manufactured character” that mirrors “femme fatale” and “jezebel” archetypes found in movies like Snake Eyes. Her alleged “guilt by association” with a 2012 Aurora shooting victim is cited as evidence that she is a “walking psyop” rather than a real person.* The Mechanics of “Mind Viruses”: A “mind virus” is defined as cultural information or a “smuggled premise” (such as the question “What are they spraying?” regarding chemtrails) that is passively accepted because the individual's “mental immune system” has been compromised by traditional schooling.* Predictive Programming and Archetypes: The source suggests that public reactions to political figures are “programmed” through entertainment media. For example, “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is viewed as the result of a lifetime of being presented with the “Biff Tannen” or “bully” archetype in films, making the public conditioned to respond predictably to him.* The Metascript and “History Bending”: This theory posits that global history is proactively manufactured 30 to 50 years in advance through a “secondary timeline” of fake events. This process, called “history bending,” creates an “internalized Truman Show” where the news cycle serves as a “News Testament” to conform the population to a prefabricated worldview.Speaker Quote* Tim Ozman: “The reason why I wasn't cheering the death of Homelander is I'm deprogrammed—I don't have that programming in me to make me hate Trump or hate Homelander... I'm not going to be responding emotionally to a World Wrestling Entertainment character turned into a president”.The Deconstruction of the Charlie Kirk “Simulation”: An analysis of the Charlie Kirk shooting as a choreographed event using “squibs” and “crisis actors” to create a generational martyr narrative.FREE COURSEhttps://the-ips-institute-for-metascript-deconstruction.teachable.com/p/charlie-kirk-is-alive This is a public episode. Key Takeaways: Why gay men judge each other's gayness and what that says about the community we builtHow living a suburban family life as a gay man creates a specific kind of identity confusionWhat it means to be more accepted in straight spaces than gay ones and why that stingsWhy the question am I gay enough never fully goes away even after decades of being outHow aging in the LGBTQ+ community forces a reckoning with who you actually are versus who the community wants you to be About Randall Randall Kenneth Jones is a high-energy speaker, author, and podcaster, known for emphasizing the best in people. The history of cancel culture in comedy — from Roseanne Barr and Shane Gillis to Joe Rogan and Tony Hinchcliffe — and how it reshaped stand-up, radio, and podcasting.Welcome to the latest episode of Why Are You Laughing?, where we examine the rise and fall of cancel culture in comedy and its lasting impact on the industry. From high-profile controversies involving Daniel Tosh, Roseanne Barr, Owen Benjamin, Shane Gillis, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Joe Rogan, this episode breaks down how careers were altered, opportunities disappeared, and new platforms emerged in response. We explore how cancel culture affected comedians across the spectrum — including moments like Kathy Griffin's backlash and the broader influence of Donald Trump on the comedy landscape. Along the way, we look at how outrage cycles, online harassment, and shifting audience expectations created both consequences and opportunities within the industry.Rather than taking a one-sided view, this episode analyzes how cancel culture evolved, who it impacted most, and whether its influence is fading or simply changing form in modern comedy.TIMESTAMPS0:00 Intro6:32 Daniel Tosh apology15:21 Jim Norton vs. Lindy West25:18 Roseanne fired31:47 Owen Benjamin45:04 Kathy Griffin vs. Donald Trump1:01:29 Shane Gillis fired from SNL1:14:10 The Joe Rogan Effect1:21:50 Tony Hinchcliffe backlash1:46:08 Norm Macdonald vs. Seth SimonsFOR ALL THINGS BLIND MIKEhttp://blindmike.netFOR ALL THINGS CRAIGGERShttp://www.verygoodshow.orgFOR ALL THINGS HACKRIDEhttp://hackridestudios.comFOR ALL THINGS DJ ELECTRA FRYhttp://djelectrafry.com
Brian welcomes back Yayne Abeba, Sue Kalinsky, and Nicole Boxer to the podcast. The panel unpacked the latest allegations against Eric Swalwell, weaving in personal insight, political parallels, and reflections on gender and accountability across politics and entertainment. Discussion ranged from the persistence of sexual misconduct in power structures to how women in comedy still face systemic double standards. Hot Talk Topics- Swalwell Scandal & Political Culture: The panel examined sexual misconduct in politics, referencing a Mother Jones piece that highlighted hundreds of state-level cases. Nicole Boxer compared the environment to her mother Barbara Boxer's Senate experience, emphasizing lack of reporting mechanisms and “plausible deniability” in Congress. Women in Comedy: Sue and Yayne detailed how female comedians have historically battled exclusion, sexism, and being undervalued compared to men. Sue's experiences in the 1980s comedy circuit illustrated how women were often sexualized or denied opportunities after one woman “bombed.” Sexual Power & Narcissism in Politics: Yayne called Swalwell's alleged behavior unsurprising, describing it as part of a narcissistic power dynamic seen in both political and entertainment worlds. Uneven Consequences in Cancel Culture: The group contrasted Louis C.K.'s comeback with Kathy Griffin's continued industry exile, concluding that gender, fame, and financial viability heavily influence public forgiveness. Yayne also noted recent attempts to “cancel” comedians like Dave Chappelle, questioning society's selective outrage. Marriage, Infidelity & Public Figures: Using examples from Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin, and others, the conversation explored why women often bear the fallout of male misconduct—both in personal and public life. Trumpism & Republican Fear: The panel dissected the GOP's internal fractures—why figures such as Lindsey Graham, Matt Gaetz, and Mike Johnson maintain loyalty despite moral compromise—and how media personalities like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Joe Rogan appear to be rebranding as Trump's popularity declines. Conspiracy Theories & the “Assassination Attempt”: A provocative segment debated whether the alleged attempted assassination of Donald Trump was staged. Yayne and Sue pointed to inconsistencies and lack of trauma among witnesses, while Nicole tied the event to broader distrust of political narratives and potential manipulation through AI and media. Looking Ahead to the 2028 Election: Nicole argued for using investigations to “educate the public” rather than purely retaliate politically. The guests expressed hope for a “blue wave” restoring democratic transparency, though tempered by fears of extremist influence and voter suppression. Cultural Sidebar- The show closed with lighter topics: Discussion of the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, its selective timeline, and how family-controlled narratives often sanitize controversy. Reflections on how biographical films distort truth for entertainment. Sue announced her contribution to the new anthology “Comedians Talking Baseball.” Conversation drifted to upcoming women's professional baseball league launching August 1 in Springfield, Illinois, drawing inspiration from A League of Their Own. -- Connect with our Guests... #NicoleBoxer - @NicBoxer on Instagram #YayneAbeba - @YayneAbebaComedy on TikTok #SueKolinsky - @Sue.Kolinsky on Instagram and co-host of CulturePopPodcast -- #EricSwalwell #PoliticalAccountability #CapitolHill #MeTooMovement #EthicsInPolitics #CongressCulture #WomenInComedy #SexismInEntertainment #DoubleStandards #CancelCulture #ComedyIndustry #KathyGriffin #LouisCK #PowerAndAbuse #NarcissismInPolitics #SystemicMisconduct #MediaAccountability #BlueWave #ElectionIntegrity #VoterEmpowerment #DemocracyMatters #FollowTheMoney #CancelCultureDebate #TuckerCarlson #CandaceOwens #JoeRogan #TrumpEra #MAGA #MichaelJacksonBiopic #BiopicDebate #HollywoodNarratives #BehindTheScenes #ComediansTalkingBaseball #WomenInSports #ProWomensBaseball #PodcastCommunity #BrianCopeland #CopelandsCorner #HeadlinersOnTheHeadlines#CopelandUnfiltered #ComedyCommentary #PodcastersOfYouTube #ComicsOnAir #TalkPodcast#PoliticalHumor #PoliticalPodcast #HotTalkTopicsPodcast#ComedyNewsShow #CurrentEventsComedy #NewsCommentaryShow#WeeklyComedyTalk #BayAreaTalkShow #ComedyPodcastInterviews #ComedyPodcastHost Hosted by the Bay Area's own Brian Copeland, a longtime Actor, Comedian, Author, Playwright, Television and Radio Personality. In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, we take a look at the latest polls in the California Governor's race. The scrambled race for California governor left in the wake of Eric Swalwell's sexual misconduct allegations isn't officially Gov. Gavin Newsom's mess. But it's one that many top Democrats want him to consider trying to clean up. Also Democrats are once again playing identity politics by wanting a "white male Christian man" to lead their party, audio from Kathy Griffin in remorse over the Eric Swalwell scandal, the national popular vote interstate compact, the price of secondary market hockey tickets, audio from Mitt Romney laying out the mid-terms, audio from CNN on President Trump's approval rating with senior voters and Gary's experience with "Independent Bob". While the later stages of the Neal Baer Era of SVU were often punctuated by whiplash-inducing flips of the script into wild new directions, few episodes start off in as strange a place as this one. In what might just be the only time in this show's nearly 600-episode run, we dive into the world of vampirism.Yes, vampires. And don't worry, despite the sad fact that SVU apparently exists in a world where vampires don't actually exist, "P.C." keeps its flag planted in a delirious place where one Special Guest Star tries to make out with both Benson and Stabler. In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, the White House confirmed and defended conducting a second strike against alleged drug smugglers in the Caribbean in September, amid the Trump administration's crusade targeting the influx of drugs into the U.S. The White House's statement comes after the Washington Post reported Friday that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth verbally ordered that a Sept. 2 attack kill everyone on board the alleged drug boat, drawing scrutiny from lawmakers who are requesting additional oversight into the strikes. The Post reported that a second strike was conducted to take out the remaining survivors on the boat. Maybe they’ve always been wackos, but left-wing women have been particularly unhinged of late and Stigall has the complete montage - from Rosie O’Donnell, to Kathy Griffin and Katie Porter to Nancy Pelosi. What’s going on? Meanwhile, the very normal editor of Townhall.com and Fox News - Katie Pavlich discusses the President’s Gaza peace deal, new media restrictions at the pentagon, and more. Plus Congressman Scott Perry unpacks the government shutdown and Stigall explains why - unless you’re in DC - you’re likely not even aware of much change in your life while Democrats hold government spending hostage. But when will people start to notice? -For more info visit the official website: https://chrisstigall.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisstigallshow/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisStigallFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/chris.stigall/Listen on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/StigallPodListen on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/StigallShowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
