Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. No English club has ever won the Quadruple, the three domestic trophies (league, FA Cup, Carabao Cup) plus the Champions League, but Liverpool are still in the running for it this season after demolishing Tottenham's injury-riddled side yesterday. Arne Slot has come in to what was expected to be a transition year and might make it the best year ever for the club. MLS updates as the NY Red Bulls strengthen their backline by adding Chilean international Marcelo Morales and veteran center back Tim Parker. Hernán Múñoz has been linked with a departure from the San Jose Earthquakes, but it involves Foster Gillett and it's very complicated. Gillett has been disruptive with his "investments" in Argentina, specifically to benefit Estudiantes. However reports surfaced yesterday that he is behind in payments for players to clubs and we'll just have to see where all of this goes. Luciano Acosta was a player linked with a move to Estudiantes, but it hasn't happened yet. He expressed his unhappiness in Cincinnati to reporter Laurel Pfahler and we'll have to see if things can be repaired. FA Cup 4th Round takes place this weekend, along with a 1 vs 2 matchup at the top in La Liga between Real Madrid and Atleti. Legendary fullback Marcelo announced his retirement yesterday, one of the all-time greats in the position, he won 25 trophies at Real Madrid. Check your sources, the graphic circulating that Thiago Messi scored 11 goals in a U13 game against Atlanta United is not true. Mexican clubs struggled last night in Concacaf Champions Cup on the road, with Chivas needed an equalizer in the 10th minute of stoppage time in the Dominican Republic and Pumas losing in Calgary. Both get the second legs at home next week. Atlanta United preseason action on atlutd.com/live tomorrow afternoon at 1pm as the team takes on New England from Bradenton, FL. Thanks to everyone who has signed up for our Fanaticos membership platform, more information on our social media platforms! This is The Knock On, KCLR Sport's weekly rugby podcast. In this episode, Stephen Byrne is joined by Tom Crotty from Carlow Rugby Club, James Blanchfield from Kilkenny RFC and Paddy Browne from Tullow RFC. Tullow had a win in the AIL Junior Cup against Seapoint, they trailed 17-14 at halftime but pushed on and won the game 24-27. It was a particularly satisfying win says Paddy Browne as Tullow were beaten by the Dublin side in the league in their recent run-ins. Paddy says "Things are lifting a bit" as the team finds more consistency. They take on Enniskillen in the next round on the 14th of December. The women's side lost to Suttonians 12-48 in their AIL league game. They're up against UL Bohs on the 17th of December in a game that must be rescheduled. There was great mention of the U13 side, they have 41 players in the panel, so much so that they have problems trying to rotate the panel, they've a brilliant win record too this season. Carlow had a development side in action last weekend where they beat Clondalkin. They've 40 players training in the senior ranks and this gave a chance to provide some of the other players a game said Tom Crotty. 20-24 was the final score in the game. The side has been using the downtime recently too to sharpen their skills and intensity, they had a recent training camp with well-known fitness trainer Paul Ward from Paulies Bootcamp. There's no game this weekend for the senior men, their next game is against Suttonians. The Carlow women played the Midland Warriors at the weekend beating them 30-0. They've 24 players now on the panel and are going from strength to strength in what is their first season competing. We have news from all the youth's sides from the weekend as well.
Also, das war ja wieder was.

Was ist denn da bloß los? Ist die Magie weg, will denn überhaupt gar keiner dort trainieren, hat Harry Kane seinen Fluch mitgebracht und wohin nur mit Opa (a.k.a. Hello again, dear friends. It's Baskar Sundaram here, but this time, we're not going to delve into our usual business growth strategies. Instead, I want to invite you into a more personal space, a cherished slice of my life.I'm sure many of you can relate to the whirlwind of emotions that come with parenthood. It's a rollercoaster ride, isn't it? The pride, the concern, the hopes, the fears. And every now and then, there comes a moment that just, well, it takes your breath away. For me, one such moment happened recently when my 11-year-old son, Kai, lifted the U13 2023 Surrey Cedar Cup for his rugby team. Rugby, for those unfamiliar, it's not a sport that pulls any punches, literally and metaphorically. It's a game of physical strength, resilience, and a fighting spirit. And my Kai, he has that in spades. You see, despite his smaller stature, Kai has a heart that's larger than life. Over the past four years, I've watched him take hit after hit, each time bouncing back stronger, that infectious smile never leaving his face. And it's not just about the sport. I've seen a leader being forged in him. The kind of character, determination and team spirit he's been showing - it's truly heartwarming. This whole journey got me thinking about my own childhood. You know, my father left us when I was seven to work in the Middle East. He was away for most of my formative years, sacrificing his time with us to provide for our family. It was hard, I won't lie. But I understood why he did what he did. Now, as a father myself, I have the privilege to be a part of my son's journey. To cheer him on, to support him, to witness his growth first hand. And believe me when I say, it's an absolute honor. So, this is not just a father boasting about his son. No, this is a tribute. A tribute to every parent out there making sacrifices, fighting their own battles to pave a better future for their children. I see you, I salute you.In the end, it's about creating a legacy, isn't it? To pass on the love, dedication, and opportunities for our children. It's a journey, a beautiful, often challenging journey. But together, let's make it count. After all, our children are the future. Their dreams, their successes are the testament of our love.Let's create a future filled with love, sacrifice, and boundless possibilities for generations to come. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing this moment with me. Until next time, dear friends, take care."Support the show

Plus good news for those of you who come to live recordings - he's clearing out his garage, so you might get presents! His guest is Welsh sex-mountain Mike Bubbins. They discuss whether croissants should be wrapped, the power of the moustache, the infamy of Barry Island, the wonder of Parkinson and the unusual combination of confidence and not being an arsehole that Bubbins exudes.

Wally Kozak is a resident of host Richard Bercuson's virtual Pantheon of Canadian hockey developers. Here, he begins by reflecting on his stint with Father David Bauer's national team and its influence on his future as a teacher and coach. Then comes the segue into the importance of creating a mission statement as most recently done with the parents of a U13 girls team. Along the journey, he shares stories of his experiences in developing the exercise. This includes one about how Hockey Canada's instructional DVD series, Goals 1 & 2, once included a third DVD which featured the exercise but somehow never got published. To reach Wally about the mission statement exercise, email him: wallykozak@gmail.comHis weekly "Sharks" YouTube series with other hockey developers can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/user/wkozak2009/videosContact: richard(at)grassrootsminorhockey.comTwitter:Richard - @berky544
