Ken Wimberly is the founder of LegacyJournal.app, where families use an app to share the stories of their lives so they will live on for future generations. Ken is a serial entrepreneur who has founded seven different successful businesses. Over the past 20 years, Ken has created 15 passive income streams, using his ideology - be a man of action. Today Ken shares why being a man of action will take you places in life you only dreamed of. Many push off their goals and dreams because they wait for the perfect time. There is no ideal time, perfection does not exist, and messy action is always better than no action. Follow along as Ken shares his journey of being a man of action. The first thing Ken will tell you about his life as an entrepreneur is that not every business venture will be successful. What matters is what you take away from experience. One of Ken's first experiences as an entrepreneur ended up in bankruptcy. Realizing that everything is a learning curve, Ken took the positive and used the negative to make better decisions in the future. Out of all the different ventures Ken has been involved in, the Legacy Journal App is the one with which he shares a strong connection. When Ken was a new father, he knew he wanted to document the experiences and milestones his daughter was having. When his daughter was ten months old, he committed to writing down short stories of all the highlights and the exciting new milestones she was experiencing. After a while, he realized he was creating a journal filled with beautiful memories for his children and family to cherish. As with most start-up companies, new ventures begin with an idea. What sets a successful entrepreneur apart from the rest is being flexible in thinking and willing to shift when necessary. When Ken started the Legacy Journal, his market research dictated that they should market towards moms of larger families, mostly middle to upper financial brackets. Ken collected data on who was the primary user of the app. Research showed that Grandparents were the highest percentage of users. Like every successful business person, Ken shifted strategies and marketing to target his primary user. Another challenge startup companies face, especially in the digital space, is monetization. How do you monetize your great idea, your app? When the Legacy Journal was still in the beta stage in 2019, Ken looked at different pricing models and settled on one. After a year, Ken realized that moving the company forward and increasing revenue would require a change. He needed to change the application's structure so that it would be a streamlined process on the front and back end. These are all considerations that every business owner goes through. To succeed, you need to focus on taking chances and not being afraid to shift gears.Every successful entrepreneur will say that the road to success is paved with missteps. Ken Wimberly shares his story of mistakes and good fortune in this One Big Tip podcast episode. In this episode:[2:05] Ken shares his story on past business venturesBeing able to pull the good out of a bad situation is a key skill for every entrepreneurExperience is the best way to gain knowledge[5:15]. There is life after failureDon't be afraid to take chancesSometimes, the biggest mistakes are the springboard for the biggest successes[9:20] How the concept of the Legacy Journal was bornDocumenting milestones allows you to share them with those you loveSlowing down to appreciate what you're going through creates a rich history[14:20] Successful business people know when to shift gearsSometimes walking away from a venture that isn't working is the best ideaAllow your thinking to change with your marketSupport the show

Today, we're joining you live on location in Park City, Utah at the GoBundance event with our expert guest, Ken Wimberly. He's the founder and visionary behind Legacy of Love Inc., the founder and CVO of KW Net Lease Advisors, co-founder of Laundry Luv, and an investor and founding operating principal – as well as franchise owner – of Keller Williams Realty in Abilene, Texas. Ken's entire business philosophy is about creating a legacy of love. From the launch of Legacy Journal, an app that makes capturing and cataloging the moments that matter most in a child's life easy, to Laundry Luv, which partners with the Laundry Literacy Foundation to give books to people in the community every month, Ken strives to give back in every aspect of his businesses. Leaving a legacy that's going to be meaningful doesn't have to take a lot of time, either. When Ken's mother passed away, he found three letters that were addressed to his mother from her brother. Those three letters were some of the most important possessions he's ever had. By being intentional about this process, it's possible to create incredibly impactful memories and moments to leave our children with. The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “Write that first story. Just sit down and write the first story. It doesn't have to be big. It can be a paragraph, a few sentences, right there. Take a photo of something you've done with your child recently and write a few sentences about why that meant something important to you. Keep that, give it to your child. You don't have to wait until sometime in the future. Print it out – give it to them right there. Let them share that moment right there and know how much you value them. Because none of us, you know, none of us knows what tomorrow holds.” -- Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. How are you going to be remembered? With life being so busy these days, we often don't think about these questions unless someone in our family dies, and we, for a short few days, remind ourselves of the fragility of life. Legacy is what we leave behind as far as the impact of love. You guys have heard me say it many times before: Legacy is forever. Legacy is what we leave behind as far as the relationships in our impact, in our memories and in the end the things that we did. The memories that we made with the people that mean the most to us. Our guest today created an app I personally use to capture special moments. We talk to Ken Kimberly, a father, entrepreneur, real estate investor and we dive deeper into why he created this amazing app to help us capture all of those moments and live legendary. We also discuss something that many of you ask me for, which is resources for men who have daughters. This is an epic episode and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did talking to Ken. Every success leaves hints and clues. That's why people study other people's successes because there are patterns in it that can be copied. Those patterns trace back to momentum, consistency, routines, and the difficult first steps that successful people had to take. It applies even to workouts. Someone who can do a hundred reps of burpees first had to start with one. In this episode of The Fit Mess, Ken Wimberly shares his key principles to success. Ken talks about how one can discover their ‘why' in life, why accountability is a fundamental piece to success, his routine of constant exercise, and the app he created that captures moments, memories, and lessons that anyone can pass on to their loved ones later on in life. Find out how you can discover your ‘why' in this episode of The Fit Mess with Ken Wimberly! Why Accountability Matters When Ken started his commitment to working out every day, he had no one but himself for accountability. He liked it that way. It was Ken's way of proving that he could set it straight with himself. When he started progressing, people noticed and sought his help. He shared techniques with them as well as his own fitness goals. What Ken started later gained attention from his circle of people. From there, a text thread was formed. In this thread, the goal was accountability. They started off with just three people. Then more people started joining in. The thread became a group of four, then five, then six. Because more people decided to join what they started, Ken's text thread had to move to Telegram to add people more easily whenever. In this Telegram group, they share screenshots, workouts, and updates of each other's routine. Ken's friend, one of the members of his accountability group, is now preparing for a walking event in April. Find out how Ken impacts lives with the power of stories in this episode of The Fit Mess! On this episode, Adam talks to Ken Wimberly about how he grew a real estate team, net lease company, positive laundormat, and parent to child digital scrapbooking app by always putting his intentions out into the world. Ken shares how when he shifted into real estate, and specifically investing in land, he reached out to all of his sphere and told them what he was doing, and he immediately had deals to start working. After growing a wildly successful net lease company, becoming Keller Williams' top Net Lease broker in 3 years, he started a laundromat that was different than other laundromats: it only had positive TV on, had a play area for kids AND an educational area for them as well. Later, he fulfilled his bigger why by starting the Legacy of Love app, where parents can journal at all stages of their child's life and give them that journal when they are adults. Ken explains how in all of these endeavors, finding a mentor who had done the things he wanted to do was as crucial to his success as telling the world what he was setting out to do.To learn more about Ken's endeavors check out...Legacy of Love https://legacyoflove.app/LaundryLuv https://www.laundryluv.com/Net Lease Advisors https://netleaseexperts.com/His Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lordwimberlyHis Instagram https://www.instagram.com/ken.wimberly/

Ken Wimberly hasn’t just gone bankrupt - he’s lived to tell the tale. After having success in the real estate industry, overspending and the Great Recession forced Wimberly to shrink his financial life and pay off hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. As he rebuilt his financial life, Ken also founded Legacy of Love: a digital parent-to-child or grandparent-to-child journaling platform. It's a place to capture moments, save memories, leave lessons, document photos, or videos, voice notes, voicemails, and capture little moments of life that might otherwise pass with time. Today, Ken joins the podcast to share the story of his financial mistakes and comeback, the power of digital scrapbooking, and the importance of passing along knowledge - financial and otherwise - to future generations.
