Passage: 1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah (Psalm 32:1–5) Song: Forgiven by Brian Johnson, Graham Moore, Jeremy Riddle, and Joel Taylor Lyrics: I will sing for You alone have rescued this life Jesus You have set me free You alone took away all sin and disgrace When You gave Your life to ransom me I am forgiven at the foot of the cross I am accepted by the power of Your love My every stain is washed away I am forgiven Here I stand in the light of Your glory and grace Where heaven's love and justice meet Now I live for the One who has called me by name Who is risen and alive in me I'm embraced at the foot of the cross By the love and the mercies You have lavished on us My every stain is washed away And I am forgiven Prayer: O most mighty God, and merciful Father, who has compassion upon all men, and who does not despise the sighing of a contrite heart, nor the desire of such as are sorrowful; mercifully assist our prayers that we make before you in all our troubles and adversities, whensoever they oppress us; and graciously hear us, that those evils, which the craft and subtlety of the devil or man work against us, may, by your good providence, be brought to nothing, that we your servants, being hurt by no persecutions, may evermore give thanks unto you in your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. —Book of Common Prayer (1552)

“Holmes' triumphant expression and the ring of his voice” [STUD] Regular listeners know that when we have an opportunity to speak with other individuals involved in audio productions, we jump at the chance. For our 300th episode, we thought it was appropriate to speak to none other than an audio Sherlock Holmes. In this case, that means in the form of the detective from the Sherlock & Co. podcast, as portrayed by Harry Attwell. While we previously spoke to writer Joel Emery about the show on Episode 275 (link in the notes below), the podcast has taken on an even greater life with each successive episode over the last year. To hear Harry talk about his background, motivations, and inspiration in this episode provides even greater insight into this remarkable production. Harry shares tales from his early days in the theater, describes a tattoo he received as a live art installment, discusses his interpretation of Sherlock Holmes (and reveals the role that inspired it), comments on one of his signature phrases, and much, much more. Madeline Quiñones is back with another installment of "A Chance of Listening," her review of Sherlockian podcasts. And of course we have a Canonical Couplet quiz for you to test your Sherlockian knowledge. The winner, chosen at random from all correct answers, will receive a prize from our vaults. As if the rocketing evolution of technology isn't presenting enough challenges to inventors under patent law, the Supreme Court has done its part, too. I just finished reading Graham Moore's novel "The Last Days of Night," where titans of the late 1800s and early 1990s Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, and Nikola Tesla "clashed with sparks flying over AC and DC electrical power systems," a corny description suggested by my AI editor. Having read the book, it was fun to speak with modern day attorney Ryan N. Phelan of modern day Marshall Gerstein. Listen as this seasoned patent attorney walks me through: The intricate landscape of patent eligibility in the United States. Twin patent law decisions from the Supreme Court -- Mayo and Alice (the name of a singer-songwriter group if I ever heard one, or a sandwich shop). The proposed Patent Eligibility Restoration Act and how -- if passed -- it could unlock new opportunities for innovation amid the challenges posed by judicial exceptions. *******This podcast is the audio companion to the Journal of Emerging Issues in Litigation. In this episode, Joe interviews two people on the frontlines of the campaign for Massachusetts' Question 4: The Natural Psychedelic Substances Act: Graham Moore and Community Engagement Director, Jamie Morey. They discuss the specifics of the initiative, listed on the ballot as the “Limited Legalization and Regulation of Certain Natural Psychedelic Substances,” including the removal of criminal penalties for limited personal use, and the establishment of a regulatory agency that will provide therapeutic access to any of five natural psychedelics (psilocybin, psilocin, DMT, mescaline, and ibogaine). They tell their stories of how they discovered the power of psychedelics, and discuss the work they're doing, educating a fairly interested – but still very hesitant – public about the bill and the importance of it passing this November. They talk about: The significance of this happening in Massachusetts, especially with the amount of biomedical research happening in Boston The story of a member of Baystaters creating a fraudulent persona in a veterans advocacy group to fight against legalization efforts The challenge of getting people to publicly support initiatives that deal with illegal substances The power of small steps in legislation: Before this bill, MA had the most local measures in the U.S. How data collection should be handled at service centers and more! If you live in Massachusetts, learn about the bill here, and make sure to get out and cast your vote in November. For links, head to the show notes page.

Graham goes Inside the ICE house to discuss U.S. covert operations during a period of declared neutrality, internal conflicts among the Allies over a new world currency, and the crucial role of an unknown player, Ansel Luxford, in dismantling the German War Machine. https://www.ice.com/insights/conversations/inside-the-ice-house

According to research done by Globality, "90% of global procurement leaders are committed to the urgent transformation of their operating models and processes to be more resilient and agile.” And yet, committing to an idea does not necessarily guarantee that it will gain operational traction. For that, procurement needs to change the way they engage with the business. During this fireside chat moderated by Philip Ideson as part of Mastermind LIVE 2022, BP Director of Digital and Innovation Sourcing Nicholas Wright and Global Category Manager for Talent and Consulting Ben Weston were joined Globality's Graham Moore to discuss how agile sourcing can deliver increased efficiencies and ROI by moving more spend to a self-service process. In this session, they explored topics such as: How procurement should rethink the sourcing process to be more responsive to the needs of the business. The corresponding adjustments that requires to engagement with specific suppliers and stakeholders How the team at BP, one of the world's largest integrated energy businesses, approached transforming their sourcing process to become more agile by placing a particular focus on services categories.

Graham Moore is a name you may remember from 2014 when he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Imitation Game." Now, he's back, and this time he's writing and stepping behind the camera for the first time with his directorial debut "The Outfit," starring Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, Johnny Flynn, Dylan O'Brien, Nikki Amuka-Bird & Simon Russell Beale. A sophisticated single location crime thriller with more than enough twists to fill ten movies, the film opens in theaters from Focus Features this weekend. Graham was kind enough to spend some time talking with me about the screenplay, the twists and turns it takes, working with Mark Rylance, and more. Click below to take a listen and enjoy!
