We just lost one of the greats in one James Earl Jones.   It's true doing a deep dive about a legendary actor is a bit out of our format. But we figured "Why not? Let's embrace our geekhood and pay tribute to a man that has a large following in Metaldom."   Unfortunately, Aaron could not join us this week. So we brought in a couple ringers. Matt Copper is no stranger to the show. We've had him on a few times and is the co host of our sister show Wrestling Night In Canada. He's also a RAM alum. As well Snowy's daughter Charity joins us. Both grew up with JEJ' voice in their ears.   Musically, we crank some Satan, Lions Pride, Wolfbrigade, Thulsa Doom (duh), Immortal Bird, Acid Mass and D.V.C. (Darth Vader's Church) (double duh).   Horns Up!

Tony Nash is joined by Bill Watkins, CEO of https://www.thelionspride.com/ (The Lions Pride), a firm that provides resources and support to high-performing small business owners. You are going to learn how to plan for your business, life, and estate, how to commit to yourself, and how to find your “battle buddies” in life beyond the usual networking. In the end, this episode will empower you to look within you and do something for yourself, as you try to juggle your many roles in life. ----- Free Resources from Bill that he mentioned during the episode: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HqFtwC5ezSIAz4Ta12zUVnXuQmpFR3i7-nFe3FlqPd8/edit?usp=sharing (One Page Business Plan ) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ttoCeD1aDiO89kyDxhwz8bF3OQdmnlNVDNC9EqYPtnw/edit?usp=sharing (One Page Personal Plan ) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17esgu6ss8QFHT4BOZcL1louSGzWtNL29GNN-V2Wc78U/edit?usp=sharing (One Page Estate and Exit Plan) ----- 00:40 – Introduction 01:19 – He shared two things he wished he did when he was younger: A written plan for his life and finding his allies, much like having battle buddies in the Army. “We leave the military and we forget those two lessons.” 04:49 – How does an eagle find an eagle outside the military? Reach out to alumni networks and the veteran community. These are good places to start. 06:07 – “I am a horrible networker, I'm not that guy. But I do know how to strategically choose the people that I will hang around. I'd rather have 10-20 awesome contacts than 2000 contacts that I barely connect.” 06:34 – “You define in writing what you're looking for. This is the absolute most important accelerant to connecting with the right kind of people.” Don't just connect to benefit from others. Be ready to give. 08:03 – He started to realize the value of these lessons when he came to a point in his life where he lost clarity and mission. He was just “wandering.” 09:46 – He got these ideas using 3 tools: A one-page strategic plan, a one-page business plan, and a one-page personal plan. You got to plan for three things: your business, life, and estate. You also need to do it with your partner, wife, or husband. 15:14 - One percenters, or those who are among the top notch in the world, are focused on work and earning money. But the 0.01% focus on the journey, life, and healthy relationships. 16:37 – One thing he is currently working on: his inner journey. He is exploring pool water low temperature, doing yoga, practicing mindfulness with a teacher. 18:32 – He always challenges his cohort members. He tells them, “All right you're working on your life, you're working on your business. What are you doing for yourself? Stop right now, I want you to take a minute... reflect what you've committed for yourself and your inner journey." 24:30 – Some of his failures: two companies that he started against everybody's advice and eventually losing millions of dollars, his “brutal” divorce, and his “breakup” with his parents. 25:15 – But the most impactful failure in his life was on August 14, 1988, which he refers to as the darkest night of his soul. At the time, he was ready to quit on life after spending his life on work and neglecting his inner journey. He also had nobody to talk to because he was unable to build battle buddies and feared asking help from others. “As a human being I would never wish that on anybody. Therefore, that started the process… that set me on this mission, relentlessly pursue this mission.” 28:43 – “Help isn't a sign of weakness. Help is a sign of intelligence.” 30:32 – How is he better than yesterday? Because he is committed to it, because he lives in the moment, and he says gratitude every day. ----- Here...

At Lions of Liberty we invite our Nittany and above Lions Pride members to assist with producing an episode of one of our shows. You can hear more about Tyler below.  Lyn Ulbricht returns to Felony Friday for a second time. She was previously on the show back on episode 137. Lyn is a warrior for criminal justice reform and of course she advocates fiercely for the release of her son Ross Ulbricht. Ross was the creator of Silk Road and is serving a life sentence for the non-violent crime of creating a website. Silk road was a place where individuals could freely buy and sell goods using bitcoin. The site did not allow child pornography or stolen goods to be sold and was mostly used for marijuana transactions. The trial was filled with prosecutorial corruption and suppression of evidence. The judge in the case, who is no longer on the bench, gave Ross an incredibly harsh sentence that had no precedence.  In this episode we talk about how faith has helped Lyn and Ross to navigate this crisis is their lives. And how Ross has been able to find peace, while incarcerated, through gratitude and by forgiving those those who served him with immense injustice.  Please visit FreeRoss.org to sign the petition and to donate to his legal defense.  Tyler Colford's, aka Krypto Man, song #FreeRoss which is played during the episode after Lyn's interview is available on Spotify and for purchase on Amazon at this link.  Visit Tyler's website. Ever feel like you're just not doing what you're supposed to be doing with your life? My guest today felt that in a big way. As a young man, Rusty Pang had more jobs than most people will have in a lifetime. Within a relatively short 13 years, Rusty jumped through 26 jobs and owned seven businesses – four of which he resurrected from failure by their former owners. But in every position and every business, he got bored or hit an upper limit. Then he moved on. And through it all he felt a deep, residual pain. The pain pushed him to alcoholism, unhealthy weight gain and the nagging feeling that he was missing his purpose in life. But finally he reached a point where he embraced the pain. He sat in it. Lived with it. He wouldn't let his natural fight or flight tendencies take over. And working through his emotions instead of working against them opened up his clarity. In one stunning moment (while eating a sandwich) his purpose came to him. Not fleeing from his pain allowed him to see the shadows his purpose had cast through all 26 jobs and seven businesses. “I believe in the power of pain,” Rusty tells me in this episode. In this podcast, you'll hear Rusty Pang tell a powerful story of learning to live with pain to recognize the shadows of your purpose. And once you recognize the shadows, you can figure out the real thing. If you feel unfulfilled because of your work, Rusty's story will speak to you. Whether you think so or not, you live in a bubble. Gret Glyer, the founder of DonorSee, didn't realize that until he got far outside his bubble. And he got so far outside it that he wanted to change other people's bubbles. Gret grew up in Fairfax, Virginia in the second-wealthiest county in the United States (just behind Teton County in Wyoming where my business partner Bill lives, according to some lists.) So when he moved to Malawi—the poorest country in the world as of 2014—his bubble popped. He went there to teach math, but ended up doing his own social-work projects more than anything. In the three years he lived there, Gret built more than 100 houses for homeless people and also crowdfunded a $100,000 girls' school designed to give the country an educational boost to exit poverty. After that experience, he decided he could help more projects like that all over the world with his own company. So he founded DonorSee, a visual platform for donations that lets people see who they're helping as well as the results of the aid quickly.   You wouldn't know it now, but Gret's first attempt to raise $800 to build a house stopped short at $100 until he changed one mentality that was holding him back. He had to pop his bubble. If you want to know how to take a leap of faith like Indiana Jones, this episode is for you. Drowning in to-dos? Missing freedom because of it? If so, you need more structure. Most men associate a lack of structure with freedom, but that kind of thinking is a trap. A lack of structure isn't freedom. In fact, a lack of structure can make you a slave faster than just about anything. See, without structure, even if you know you have a ton to get done, you have no real order for doing it. No timing. Other people can sense that, and interruptions for doing….whatever you planned to do…become normal. And since interruptions push you farther away from getting the things done you really need to do, you end up with an even more stagnant to-do list. In this episode, we explore how structure gives men more freedom at work and at home.
