The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Racist Suspect Professor David Gillborn live from the United Kingdom. A Professor of Critical Race Studies at the University of Birmingham's School of Education, Professor Gillborn editor-in-chief of the journal Race Ethnicity and Education. “His research focuses on race inequalities in education, especially the role of racism as a changing and complex characteristic of the system.” Gus T. monitored the recent White rioting and hooliganism in the United Kingdom, as hoards of White people violently demonstrated their rage about non-white people and support of White Supremacy. Gus though Gillborn's 2024 book, White Lies: Racism, Education and Critical Race Theory, would offer keen insight about the Racist thought, speech, and conduct of White Brits. We'll re-visit the concept of White ignorance and ask about similarities between European Racists and North American Racists. #WhitePeopleKillForFun #TheCOWS15Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The C.O.W.S. (Context of White Supremacy) Radio Program welcomes the return of Nairobi Thompson (for the first time). A writer, poet and learning and development specialist, Ms. Thompson is a versatile communicator and facilitator with a rare ability to challenge and entertain professional and artistic audiences. With over 30 years of experience as a learning and development specialist Nairobi's craft began with management and training design for senior leadership, mentoring and coaching. Way back in 2011, during the middle of the London Riots over the police killing of Mark Duggan, Ms. Thompson's former husband Rudy Ebanks spoke with us about the first version of Almost British. After being prohibited from speaking about or promoting her book, her husband picked up the mantle and spoke on a number of platforms about the terrorism Ms. Thompson experienced working for British Prison Service. After more than a decade, Ms. Thompson changed her name, divorced Mr. Ebanks, and re-published Almost British (Re-Visited) to accurately document the years of White Supremacist abuse she endured on the job. (https://www.nairobithompson.co.uk) We are excited to hear directly from her about this extraordinary catalog of White Terrorism on the job. We're also treated to her extraordinary dedication to "ChildQ" - a black British girl who was brutally abused under the pretense that she was smuggling cannabis. #WorkplaceRacism #RuberthaThompson #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

It's exactly ten years since a Black man called Mark Duggan was shot dead by police in north London, setting off five days of rioting and looting across the capital and beyond. So what happened then and what has changed in police-community relations in the last ten years? Dr Matteo Tiratelli, lecturer at the Social Research Institute at UCL tells Bloomberg Westminster's Caroline Hepker and Roger Hearing many of the issues that set off the protests have not been addressed, and it could happen again. Croydon was one of the focuses of the riots, but Gifty Nmaju of Croydon Black and Minority Ethnic Forum says police-community relations have improved there, and, while much of the anger that fueled 2011 remains, there are better ways of dealing with it now. Criminals, lazy looters and the mindless underclass; this was the narrative pushed by numerous politicians and academics after the 2011 UK riots. For many, the riots simply boiled down to greed. However, the problem with this perspective is that the spacial dynamics, reactions, and aftermath of the riots reveal a struggle for control between the people and state. The riots were about more than looting and violence, essentially they became a dispute over the streets - territory which belongs to no man.

JAMES BIG B O I I PODCAST EPISODE 3 - SPONSORED BY WILKOS After more shenanigans - this time courtesy of El Ligero - Nathan Cruz now finds himself at the mercy of Chapter 2's challenger Marty Scurll as the Party One acts as the Special Guest Referee in the main event which sees the Progress Wrestling Champion and his number one contender teaming up to face the combined force of everyone's favourite Cockney laddo Greg Burridge and the Progress debutante, Dave Mastiff.Elsewhere on the card, Xander Cooper aims to reclaim the BWC Scolaro Scholarship Championship from Mark Andrews; Stixx challenges The Lion Kid to a rematch; and crowd pleaser Jimmy Havoc gets his second chance in a Progress ring, taking on former trainer Jon Ryan in a wholesome, family affair. There's also appearances from The London Riots, Noam Dar, Paul Robinson, RJ Singh (flanked by a man with terrifying eyes), and more. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
I’m really excited for the episode this week as its completely new territory for me! I interviewed costume designer Ruka Johnson, who has a really varied CV across features, shorts, television and music videos. Her credits include Obey, a film that dramatises the 2011 London Riots, award-winning short film We Love Moses (produced by OG - original guest - Georgia Goggin) and music videos for Blood Orange and Lily Allen! She also worked on Sarah Gavron’s film Rocks, which shrewd listeners will know has popped up on the pod quite a bit! Hands down my favourite part of this chat is when Ruka says she wants to be really successful and completely owns it. I think its always really refreshing, perhaps sadly so, to hear a young woman claim that as their ambition. Even if you’re thinking it, we’re often told you have to keep your intentions on the down-low, and to be gracious and surprised and grateful when that success does find you. But its always super important to say what you want, to go after it and not feel shame about doing that, or shame about having success and wealth and creative fulfilment as a priority, so yeah that was cool to hear Ruka say and the rest of the chat is just as inspiring tbh. So enjoy!
JAMES BIG B O I I PODCAST EPISODE 2 - THE APRIL OF PROGRESS After the crowning of the inaugural PROGRESS Wrestling Champion (under slightly nefarious circumstances) in Nathan Cruz, our fearless champion has his first defence against Chapter 1 tournament finalist Marty Scurll in a 2 out of 3 falls match.Elsewhere on the card, new BWC Scolaro Scholarship Champion Mark Andrews defends against Mike Hitchman; The Lion Kid takes on Stixx in a classic David vs. Goliath affair; and a new PROGRESS Championship number one contender is crowned in a triple threat match between El Ligero, Greg Burridge and RJ Singh. Also in action are Noam Dar, Will Ospreay, The London Riots, and - thanks to a Twitter outcry - Jimmy Havoc. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Creating or conjuring? Junior scholars Emmanuelle Andrews and Katrina Sellinger were inspired by a public dialogue on the work of words between poet Dionne Brand and critic Christina Sharpe moderated by writer David Chariandy. Emmanuelle and Katrina co-edited a special issue of The Capilano Review extending that conversation on Blackness through their curation of essays, interviews, poetry, sculpture, and tattoo art. PhDiva Xine talks to these up-and-coming scholars at UBC about Black love, mentorship, Canadian and English moral exceptionalisms about race, and how people create but do not think of themselves as creators. You don’t make decisions in a vacuum. Context matters, perhaps more than you think. On this episode of Choiceology with Dan Heath, we explore the subtle, sometimes hidden structures that influence your decisions. You’ll see how small changes in the way choices are presented can have a huge impact on everything from vandalism to traffic congestion to retirement savings. Tara Austin of Ogilvy Change tells the dramatic story of how she and her team worked to reduce street crime in a London neighborhood after a devastating riot. It was a surprisingly simple project that had a measurable impact. You can see images from the project in this BBC News article. You’ll also hear about an experiment we ran on a busy intersection in an attempt to reduce collisions between bicycles and pedestrians—using nothing but a roll of duct tape. And behavioral design expert Sille Krukow explains how choice architecture can channel our inherent laziness to help us make better decisions. After listening, you can read our bonus article Nudge Yourself to learn even more about how to turn smart decisions into easier ones. Choiceology is an original podcast from Charles Schwab. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our monthly Global Sunday Talk On Racism. This broadcast is egineered to encourage participation from Victims of Racisms outside the United States and/or non-white people who are not able to take part during our typical program time. Our July broadcast of this segment was simultaneous with the reported shooting of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We'll get an international analysis of last month's alleged police killings as well as the five year anniversary of the killing of Mark Duggan and the ensuing "London Riots." Much like Michael Brown Jr., Sandra Bland, Sarah Reed, Tamir Rice and so many other dead black people, no one was ever prosecuted for Duggan's death. We also look forward to hearing global thoughts on the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. Heavily melanated athletes took lots of gold, but an equal amount of time was spent discussing the Zika virus as well as Racist Suspect Ryan Lochte. #RacismIsNotAPrivilege INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE: 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p
The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We'll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS As predictable as mosquitos and sun burned Whites in August, the police killing of a black male, Sylville Smith, provoked days of unrest and destruction in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Seeing as this month is the 4th anniversary of the police killing of Mark Duggan and the subsequent "London Riots" as well as the Marikana mining massacre in South Africa, no one should be bewildered by these routine disturbances. Another recurring theme on the global plantation is White liars. US Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is suspected of fabricating a grizzly tale where he and three other athletes were robbed at gun point in Brazil. Video footage of the alleged mugging has been released; however, Lochte has still garnered a high level of sympathy and support. Conversely, film maker Nate Parker, who's feature-length film on counter-terrorist Nat Turner is slated to be released later this year, has been badgered by allegations that he raped a White Woman while attending Penn State University. Parker was tried and acquitted for this sexual assault nearly 20 years ago, but this hasn't stopped a campaign to boycott his film and impale his career. #RacismIsNotAPrivilege INVEST in The COWS - paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p
What happens when a 19th century act meets a 21st century riot? The Context of White Supremacy missed the chance to hear from Black Lives Matter Toronto co-founder Yusra Khogali; unforeseen circumstances prohibited her from visiting with us. Gus T. Renegade took the time to address the history of police terrorism against black people globally - including the 2011 London Riots, and the weekly eruptions that instigated numerous uprisings throughout the 1960's. We'll also review the Donald Trump's vice grip on the 2016 Republican nomination for the presidency. There appears to be no doubt he'll be vying for the White House come November. We'll also devote time to discussing workplace Racism and the importance of acknowledging anti-blackness. Talking down to other black people is probably not going to help us solve problems. #AnswersForMiriamCarey INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p

One of the biggest stories in the news over the last week was the riots in London. We are privileged to have a friend in London. He is Alexander Mushroe (@blackhistoryuk). Alexander is a university student who attends school in London. Alexander talks about what he feel was the cause of the riots, the relationship between Black men and the police, the British press coverage of the riot including a controversial interview done by a female BBC reporter of an older Black man, the role of social media and the riots, what changes he would like to see the British government act upon, will we see uprisings in other countries. You can touch base with Alexander on Twitter @blackhistoryuk.
Greetings, Earthlings and intergalactic alien travelers! This time around we had a "no swearing" episode, where those who committed the offense of speaking with a foul tongue were whacked with foam swords and forced to drink flaming hot tabasco sauce and sour lemon juice. Naturally, there were a couple of fuc...uuuuh..."slip ups" which resulted in punishment. Also, long-time listener Billy "Redneck Name" Floyd from the UK Skyped in to give us the inside scoop on the London Riots, we talked about the awkwardness and etiquette of passing people on sidewalks, and reviewed Jay-Z & Kanye West's new album, "Watch the Throne". Put on your riot gear, get comfortable, listen up, and let us loot your hearts, you geezers and wankers!

London is burning. So far, 525 people have been arrested, 44 police officers have been injured and one man is dead. Untold buildings have burned to cinders while streets have been trashed and overrun by demonstrators. The mainstream media is covering every last detail of the crisis that erupted after the police shooting death of Mark Duggan, a local resident of Tottenham. News agencies are investigating every nuance of the story; except, of course, why it is actually happening. Politicians have begun posturing and making public statements; pointing fingers and drawing lines between the supposed lawful and the lawless; the decent and the depraved. And of course they are targeting anyone but themselves and anything but their policies that have left young men disenfranchised and disaffected. The havoc continues, and tonight on AVfM Radio hosts Paul Elam and JtO will make easy work of a simple issue: Why young men get angry when police gun them down in the street.
We had the unrest called the Arab Spring a few months ago. That is not the issue in London. So what's the cause of the unrest now?
